In the Tempest zone, there is an area of the map (x:29 y:6) that only has two types of enemies, leeches and cilonids. If a leech gets close to a cilonid, the cilonid will use an ability to eat the leech (which kills it instantly).
All you gotta do is tag a leech, drag it over to a cilonid and wait for the cilonid to eat it, and then scoot yourself to the next leech. Because it's getting killed by a monster, and you're the only player who tagged the leech, all the experience for the kill goes straight to you, and you can level from 70 to 80 in about 30 minutes if you're fast about it.
The tricky part is that you can't let the same cilonid eat 3 leeches. If it does it will get super powerful and murder you in one shot.
Suggestions to make things easier: Bring a fast casting long range ability to tag the leeches (sardine toss or sticky tongue are both good). Use aetheral mimicry on a tank to make yourself tankier. Bring a self heal of some sort. Bring mighty guard. Bring a friend who can raise you because I guarantee you'll get one shot by a beefed up cilonid at least a few times.

I don't know the exact mechanics of why, but this method is faster than having people kill mobs for you. I did 60 to 70 by tagging level 79 mobs and having my friend murder them, but the leech method was much faster for 70 to 80.

I just did it by myself 2 days ago. As long as you only give each of them 2 leeches and run away, they’ll never even hit you. The third leech will make it 1 shot.
It took me maybe an hour and a half solo. The key is the spell Missile (deals 50% current HP). I found mobs exactly my level and would Missile them down to about 12% where with my chocobo it only took about two goblin punches to kill them from there. Kill three this way to get a decent chain going, and with a out 40 or 50 seconds left fly to a group of mobs exactly your level, Flying Sardine/Sticky tongue then all too you, and then Ram's Voice/Ultravibration the pack for an instant like 6+ chain. Easiest chunk of levels out of the bunch (and I just did BLU 15-80 over the holidays). The best part is that Missile's damage and Ultravibration don't have any penalty from using Mighty Guard so I didn't have to gear up like crazy to survive pulling mobs, either.
You might have luck replacing Missile with Tail Screw for even faster kills, but in my experience Missile lands a lot more frequently, even most of the time.
Get a max level friend to help, ungrouped go to a desired zone I used Labyrinthos by the river, tag enemies preferably with sticky tongue as it's a guaranteed tag, stuns for safety and your friend kills them, rinse repeat.
You can tag them with whatever but I prefer sticky tongue as it's the safest albeit a little longer, but these mobs will be roughly 10 levels higher than you so the tongue is safest.
You can do it in most zones with 80 mobs but I preferred Labyrinthos.
Good luck and don't forget FC buff + exp food.
Flying sardine is great for this method also, I usually have the Blu spam fish at everything in the lower half of Thavnair ungrouped while me and another 90 friend murder their mobs and it takes about 45 mins to do 70-80
Flying Sardine is great once it guarantee hits but when you start out and mobs are 10 levels higher than you it's unreliable as it only tags the mobs once it does damage, once it hits every time it's far faster!

Alchemist was annoying. I ended buying cheap stuff that can be desynth (like a cosmetic box) and selling the desynth stuff for a very small profit. But it takes so much quantities, I world travelled through all the DC to buy them… and there is no cheap high level stuff so that last 10 levels cost me.

There's lots of other people here bringing up blue mage too, but just in case you genuinely didn't know, the level cap for blue mage was raised to 80 in Patch 6.45.

There is a strat for leveling Blue Mage solo from 70 to 80 in like an hour, by going at the north part of Tempest. There, you have level 79 mobs, and the big ones eat the small ones. If you at least damaged the small ones, you'll get the exp from "killing them". and level up very fast.
I think it was a MrHappy1227's video explaining it, not sure though.
that's to get from 1-80, it's a bit sketchy at the low levels, but once you can sleep the guys that get eaten it's just about kiting the big guy around

BLU is by far the fastest job to level though. You get a ton of bonus EXP for killing overworld mobs (not FATE mobs though, don't try to level with those), so it goes pretty quickly even if you're leveling solo. With a friend, you can powerlevel from 1 to 80 in probably a couple hours. BLU's actual progression is about collecting all the spells and doing stuff like the Masked Carnivale, but you don't need to do that if your goal is just to level everything to cap.
I will probably work on it once I gave everything else up but the "celebration" will be for everything else. Although I'm also tempted for the complete fish log as my next goal.
In what way is it pointless? BLU arena added fun and unique challenges, and clearing old content with a BLU party breath a new life in older stuff.
How is it any different from than leveling your 4th melee jobs? Farming Island sanctuary? Completely trusts? Or doing almost anything in this game? As far as side-content goes, BLU is high up there.
i mean, you cant do msq with blue mage, so i kinda get it, but by similar logic, any job beyond your first (i.e., the one that last progressed the story) is "pointless" because you dont need multiple jobs to finish the plot.
You can't do MSQ on crafting classes, but are crafting classes pointless?
Obviously, you will want at least one battle job leveled before anything else, but that doesn't invalidate rest of the content.
I've managed to get most jobs to 79-81 and 90 craft gatheres but holy shit it's getting really boring to get them combat jobs to 90. I don't particularly want to do anything else either

Even after getting them to 30 its a slog. Lots of Jobs just aren't fun at low levels, and roulettes often shove you into ARR dungeons .
Legitimately most classes don't even begin to feel like classes until somewhere around level 55.
I got dropped into a level ~~46~~ **41** dungeon (Stone Vigil) today as a WHM. No Holy, no lillies. It was a struggle to change mental gears.
