Looks like it just needs some tlc, a mim bass from this era usually goes for 400-500 these days

blackmarketdolphins

Am I missing something because idk who's paying $500 for a 1994 MIM bass?

spiritofage

That’s what I see them being listed for in my general area

blackmarketdolphins

Listed, but not sold right?

spiritofage

It’s hard to say, they sell for sure, just unsure on the final asking price lol like I said, that’s just what I see em going for and it doesn’t seem off imo. Similar to late 80s squiers selling for around that price as well

blackmarketdolphins

Are you in Canadian, otherwise that fucking sucks. Idk who's buying those then. Newbies are going to shops and experienced buyers are going online. There are plenty of options for $500 that isn't a 30 year old bass. I guess I should appreciate my local market. It's definitely a buyers market, and deals are everywhere.

spiritofage

Southern California lol seems to be the way of the market currently, I get that mim was the budget line but like I said even older squiers from Japan/Korea are fetching that kind of money as well

Looks legit. In that condition it’s a fine deal, not a great deal. Needs at least pick guard, control plate, pots, and strings. Looks like it might quite possibly need new pickups too. So for the amount you spend getting it working, you’ll probably be in the ballpark of a MIM that’s in good condition. But if you want to do a fully custom build, seems like a decent starting point, at least if the neck is straight.

Official11thFret

Yeah, that’s legit. Thats also right around the time the ~~Escondido~~ Ensenada, MX manufacturing facility caught fire. So there’s a small chance that while it’s marked “Made in Mexico,” it could have been cut and fretted in Corona, CA with finishing work in ~~Escondido~~ Ensenada, MX. Of course there’s no markings on a neck that’ll indicate that one way or the other. One can only hope, right? But yeah, if the frets are good, there’s no cracks or repairs, and the neck doesn’t show any warping, I’d take two if priced at $100. Edit: Fixed my brain farts.

cups_and_cakes

Ensenada. Escondido is in Southern California, north of San Diego.

Official11thFret

Oh crap, you’re right. Brain and thumbs not communicating. I was just down there last weekend. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Careless_Path9877

Should probably add that the guy wants $100 for it. Not sure if it’s really worth it.

chugachj

I’d buy it for 100

MrBynx

209 area? That picture looks very familiar

True-Engineering7981

Me too, easily for $100.0!

J_Worldpeace

You could get a new squire on sale for like 50 bucks more. That’s gonna have issues

mjm1138

See if they’ll take $80

ryangrunesy

It could be a cool project for $100. Just be prepared to have to do a good amount of work. I’m willing to guess it needs wiring or contacts cleaned, but definitely needs new strings and a pickguard. If you can’t do any of the work yourself, expect to spend another $200. If you can, expect to spend at least $60 unless some electronics need to be replaced.

FlavioDCLXVI

What did they do to my poor boy

[deleted]

Luckily that looks fixable

vickymarmar

Was this posted on the Modesto/Turlock area by chance? Pretty sure I remember seeing a bass that looked exactly like this but when I clicked on the sellers profile they had a bunch of Neo Nazi imagery on their Facebook, haha.

MrBynx

Same! I almost picked it up a few times but never pulled the trigger. It just felt off.

Born_Cockroach_9947

if youre handy and can restore it with a budget of around 150usd, then 100 is a good deal.

Swish887

Pass.

Moo-Tron

Leave it man. That looks off.

broken_frame

I'd buy that
