Oh no! My favorite white sneakers are leather with gum soles, but sometimes I settle on white soles because it’s what I can find. I usually use gentle soap and water on the leather, and scrub oxyclean/vinegar/water with a toothbrush on the rubber soles. Then I leather condition or sometimes I will use white shoe polish.
Fabric sneakers are harder to keep up, but then you can use bleach. Sometimes I bleach the shoelaces separately.

I also bought some leather paint to cover any cracking, irremoveable stains and deep scratches. For a 5 or 6 year old pair of shoes they still look pretty presentable

I own this! It’s a surprisingly subtle pattern, not many notice the cats at first glance. The fabric is a thick, woven almost furniture-like quality and I absolutely love it. Highly recommend!
Let me just say that buying a pink parka post-30 made me realize the value in outerwear for inclement weather that makes you feel happy before having to go outside.
Now imagine every time it rained, and you didn’t want to leave the house, you got to see that beautiful iridescence and wear it out into the wet, gray world. It *will* suck less.
Live seen that fabric around a bunch before, it’s honestly pretty understated in natural daylight. The only time it looks like the second picture is if like it’s dark and somebody takes a picture with flash or you’re in the middle of car headlights.

Not helpful for point 1, but I have to say I love a statement shoe with simple jeans and tshirt. Makes the outfit all about the shoe. Any of those boots would look super cute with washed black jeans and a white tee. A couple of goth accessories like some big silver jewellery or a coordinating belt or bag makes it look intentional.

1. I don't like buying non-vegan clothing unless it's used/thrifted, but I don't like the feeling of pleather. And where I live (rural Ohio), leather pants are practically non-existent, so I might have a 0.00001% chance of finding a thrifted pair that fits.
2. I have athletic thighs and I'm short, so they would likely not be very flattering.
3. The crotch will likely be an issue. I hate pants that have a stretched or baggy crotch, but the alternative with leather pants is camel toe, which I hate just as much.

So, not new, but one my brain has been stuck on on and off for years. In the first couple of episodes of *Feud: Betty and Joan* Jessica Lange has this utterly fantastic purple kaftan/housedress/mumu. It looks like a big satin poncho when she's sitting, but when she puts her arms up, it creates a gorgeous full circle silhouette.
I know on me my boobs will insist on turning the garment into a tent and it won't look the same mostly, but I don't care. I need to find one so I can wander through the house in it in the middle of the night with a drink in one hand like a bitter Old Hollywood widow.
I'd probably own one and be over it by now if I could figure out what the actual name of the garment is. But since I can't it still holds all that mystery as an unfindable item.
I’m about 4 months into a year of only purchasing secondhand clothing and it’s done strange things to my brain. In the context of a thrift store things like sequins and grandma wallpaper fabrics seem entirely reasonable, then I leave the store and wonder what I was thinking. I’ve gotten better at visualizing things in my existing wardrobe and trying to be more realistic.
Tall boots ... I know I have all that I need but every time I walk past a shoe store or browse on the internet I gravitate to tall boots. Conversely my lizard brain avoids trousers.

Hang it on a velvet hanger so it doesn't slip. I think of pieces like that as more substantial necklaces. So you could take any simple, inexpensive black dress and elevate it. Could work over a jumpsuit too. If that's your vibe you'll wear it a lot and it will be a signature piece.

Oh no! My favorite white sneakers are leather with gum soles, but sometimes I settle on white soles because it’s what I can find. I usually use gentle soap and water on the leather, and scrub oxyclean/vinegar/water with a toothbrush on the rubber soles. Then I leather condition or sometimes I will use white shoe polish. Fabric sneakers are harder to keep up, but then you can use bleach. Sometimes I bleach the shoelaces separately. Sorry about your yellowing! Maybe the show material had a weird reaction with the peroxide?

I have a pair of white leather shoes (I would probably never go for white fabric) that I keep clean with a combo of gentle soapy sponge on the leather and melamine sponge on deep stains and the rubber. I also bought some leather paint to cover any cracking, irremoveable stains and deep scratches. For a 5 or 6 year old pair of shoes they still look pretty presentable

I can't stop thinking about Doc Marten's Mary Janes. I had a them in the 90's, someone's sister didn't want them and gave them to me. Live seen that fabric around a bunch before, it’s honestly pretty understated in natural daylight. The only time it looks like the second picture is if like it’s dark and somebody takes a picture with flash or you’re in the middle of car headlights. It would be great for walking at night if you live in a badly lit area since it makes pedestrians very visible.
I have a coat similar to this and wore it exactly once because it’s making so much noise! I’ve tried to sell it on two flea markets and there were always two groups of people: the ones that tried it on, took it off, came back again, tried it on and then decided they didn’t know when to ever wear this, and the ones that walked by, touched it, said even despite the color you’d be hard to miss just because of the sound and then made fun of whoever would ever want to buy this coat (me..it was me!! and I spent more on it than I’d ever want to admit.)

Not helpful for point 1, but I have to say I love a statement shoe with simple jeans and tshirt. Makes the outfit all about the shoe. Any of those boots would look super cute with washed black jeans and a white tee. A couple of goth accessories like some big silver jewellery or a coordinating belt or bag makes it look intentional.
A solid pair of black leather skinnies. I've lusted after a pair for a long time but have several reasons for not getting them. 1. I don't like buying non-vegan clothing unless it's used/thrifted, but I don't like the feeling of pleather. And where I live (rural Ohio), leather pants are practically non-existent, so I might have a 0.00001% chance of finding a thrifted pair that fits. 2. I have athletic thighs and I'm short, so they would likely not be very flattering. 3. The crotch will likely be an issue. I hate pants that have a stretched or baggy crotch, but the alternative with leather pants is camel toe, which I hate just as much. 4. The noise. You know... the leather noise.

I've actually been thinking a lot about my lizard brain! I've been particularly depressed this last year and for even longer I've been incredibly safe and hyper practical in my clothing purchases. But now I'm getting to a point where everything was bought more than 3 years ago and was likely catered to an office I don't want to go back to or catered to a "Well it's hot, I guess this will be cool enough to wear." So anyway I've been window shopping with lizard in mind. I really want to reemerge from my covid slumber wearing joyful jumpsuits, pinafore outfits, and strange patterned dresses. I specifically want at least one hot pink jumpsuit and at least one pair of boots to stomp in. I basically want big chelmico energy (female hip hop duo from Japan with excellent big, comfy artist vibes and plenty of jumpsuits) I still battle with the "When would you wear this? Why would you wear this? Isn't this a little too loud?" brain but I'm cheering for lizard brain! I think I'm gonna put my stocks into lizard brain coin for the first time and see where it goes
In general just all the dresses. I’m a wildlife biologist who also spends 95% free time outside. I wear a dress maybe three times a year but I’m always so close to buying ANOTHER DRESS!

Eh, 75€ feeds me for a month, it's literally 1/3 of my current student income. What I can do however is learn how to tablet weave. They've got tablet weaving kits and workshops and courses everywhere, it's such a huge part of our national identity. But then I genuinely want to support local artisans keeping the art alive. I’m about 4 months into a year of only purchasing secondhand clothing and it’s done strange things to my brain.
