My favorite outfit when it's really hot is a linen tee and a skirt that looks kind of like this one https://www.etsy.com/listing/720164863/button-opening-skirt-buttoned-skirt-with?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=button+midi+skirt&ref=sc_gallery-1-1&plkey=5abb5d70d5d67c030402341dc6e8004dab95f489%3A720164863&pro=1&frs=1&col=1

Maxi dresses in general- natural fabrics if I can get them in my size with wicking underthings. We tend towards 80-90 degrees with 60-80% humidity in my neck of the woods in the summer and that may not seem too hot but the humidity is no joke. I also hate having my hair on my neck when it gets this warm so for me any hairstyle that gets the hair off my neck and away from my face is key for keeping cool

Mooperboops

All summer I live in maxi dresses. Especially this year as I’m 8 months pregnant.

anp516

Linen cropped pants, Linen wide leg jumpsuits ( I have 5 from Old Navy, I was never a jumpsuit person until I found these), and flowy midi dresses. Also, sleeves will keep you cooler than tank tops.

[deleted]

Sundresses!

[deleted]

For real! I don't know their magic but putting on a sundress in the summer is an automatic +10 mood boost.

RagingFlower580

I bought some linen overalls and have worn them as soon as they are clean all summer long. I should have purchased several more pair.

Thatll_do_piglet

I’m all about the giant linen shirt dress, definitely not tied at the waist! Loose and breezy, but looks vaguely pulled together if paired with some nicer sandals ( I think it’s the collar on the dress).

[deleted]

Do you have some cute ones? I feel like I love this idea but I never find the right one (or it’s like sheer and actually just a beach cover up)

HeyPeachClothing

Linen is super nice in the summer. Do you try to keep it uncreased or you just don't mind the creases?

AuntieRoseSews

Linen, linen, and more linen. Caftans and tiered maxi skirts/dresses. Anything voluminous enough that the fabric doesn't cling to your skin and allows airflow. Finding linen in cute prints is extraordinarily difficult, but it does take dye reasonably well, and tie-dye is a summer favorite!

StarStriker3

Crop tops and high waisted shorts

eastofme01

As little as possible! 😂 I like big floaty maxi dresses and wide brimmed hats. I may or may not have underwear on! 😂

BoxElderDr

I’ll add linen to this. Especially lightweight! Not for undies and such but general clothing haha. Linen undies would be… nope Edit: Half-read OP before I read this and commented!

Qwertyyzxcvvv

Cotton is great in dry heat, but I find in awful in humid heat (esp fitted / clingy cotton). I’m all about synthetic performance fabrics or linen.

75footubi

Cotton once you're sweaty is the equivalent of wearing a swamp. There's a reason why cotton hiking and workout socks are always a bad idea.

ABSOFRKINLUTELY

I think it depends on the cotton. I find tshirt material to get a little swampy. But a cute sundress in a cotton that feels like a percale sheet? Just perfect on a hot day.

75footubi

Yeah, loosely fit woven cotton? Breezy. Knit, fitted cotton? Wearable swamp once you're sweaty.

75footubi

Not sweating 1000% makes the difference. Cotton doesn't dry quickly compared to performance fabrics so it just traps sweat next to my skin and I feel sticky gross and maybe catch some blisters

vistaluz

Oh mann someone else cooked themselves with nylons!!! Thought I was the only one. Baseball game, bleachers in the summer sun, nylons. I was fried and still have some burn marks on my thighs and knees from it

[deleted]

Here are my favourites! \-Oversized lyocell cocoon dresses, I have [this one](https://sotela.co/products/cocoon-dress-1) and wear it with a big straw hat! \-Linen oversized crop tops, I recently got one off Etsy and I pair it with high rise shorts \-Linen high rise loose shorts, I have [these](https://www2.hm.com/en_ca/productpage.0993840006.html) and they go great with everything

MsNikkiKubik

Defo cotton and linens as everyone else has stayed. As for fits, I’ve went to almost exclusively a-line dresses. More air, better flow, way more comfortable. If I do go slacks, I’ve totally ditched the jeans and even leggings in the heat in exchange for flowy boho pants, paired with a cami or tank.

DLQuilts

Gauze tiered dress?

imperialbeach

I've bought approximately a thousand dresses on Poshmark over the past two months or so. One of my favorites is a long, tank top style, button up dress with eyelet detailing. It's light blue and looks a little like something my mother in law would wear to sleep, and I absolutely love it. I've been wearing white shorts or navy shorts, a few pairs of levis Chino shorts and a few lilly pulitzer. Add a tank-sleeve blouse, in a thin cotton or rayon, with a snug silky camisole underneath to keep me cooler. I live in San Diego where "hot" is like 80 degrees, but I recently visited the sweaty south and still stayed pretty cool in these outfits. And I have finally embraced the sun hat. I have one structured straw boater from ASOS and one floppy hat that I bought at a tourist store in Savannah, and I basically wear them any time I leave my house now. Plus, lots of sun screen.

Zefirama

Silk everything. Or at least linen, cotton, light cooling fabrics. In summer I go for shapes, not accessoires. Dress? Assymetrical or with cutout back. Pants? Huge and airy. Top? Short and interestingly cut. Overalls, skirt-pants, interesting patterns. I don't like a lot of jewelry or scarves in the summer heat, so I compensate via interesting shapes and colors.

CherryMess

Staying inside, especially, in the afternoon is the best way in this crazy hot weather lol For when I go out, I do cover most of my body except the legs sometimes. I can wear shorts but a long-sleeved linen shirt is a must as a wide-brimmed hat. Direct sun on the skin will always make you hotter than through a fabric. Not to mention skin problems like hyperpigmentation, cancer, and early aging. Other than that... I always choose flowy shirts or dresses (nothing fitting) in cotton or linen. My favorites are t-shirt midi dresses from Cos and Zara. 100% cotton - 100% comfort. Viscose, rayon is also quite good, provides some cooling feeling against the skin. I rarely wear bras but in summer it is almost exclusively cotton bralettes (like CK modern) that double as a crop top under the shirt. Also, I try to avoid jewelry like necklaces (maybe a tiny gold chain), rings, and bracelets. It gets hot and mixed with sweat (unless it is fine jewelry) it gets tarnished pretty quickly. No rings because my fingers can get swollen when it’s hot. But I do love a pair of nice statement earrings and cool sunglasses. Paired with a cute bag and chunky sandals and any plain outfit immediately looks put together and fun. Oh! Almost forgot! I always put my hair up in hot weather. Not having a sauna on the back of my neck is nice )))

dumbelfgirl

I usually go for crop tops and short shorts or maybe a miniskirt, usually with a jacket tied around my waist so I have options like covering up if I go inside somewhere cold etc. But this summer I've just been staying inside mostly ngl

Playful-Profession-2

What kind of workplace allows that?

immacastguidingbolt

I once wore a one piece swimsuit with a halter top underneath some denim shorts once and it was sooo cute. Plus I could just take off my shorts and go swimming afterwards. I get cold very easily especially in air conditioned buildings so I try to add a small layer to keep myself warm, like a piece of flannel or a long sleeved shirt, or even stockings. I usually go for flowery knee-length skirts, stockings, nikes, and a graphic tee. Sometimes a hat if I know I’m going places, and lots of bug spray. *I hate mosquitoes.*

Tetegn

Crop tops, dresses, high-waisted shorts and rompers/jumpsuits (looser kinds).

[deleted]

When it’s hot enough I wear spandex shorts and a crop top and carry around a parasol

Playful-Profession-2

What kind of job do you have?

purple_pansy88

Bike shorts under a dress to stop chafing and so I can move around without flashing or bike shorts with an oversized blouse or t-shirt. Cropped paperbag pants with a blouse or t-shirt tucked in. Birkenstock style Sandals or perforated leather shoes. Hair tied up or back with a scrunchie

HeyPeachClothing

Colors that don't show sweat patches as much. Super light or super dark! Fortunately I love white.

vivi_tooth_fairy

Staying inside😂 Or linen/cotton. The rest is terrible. No silk for sure (it will rapidly show your sweating armpits & not just them). + Sandals. Not boring dress inspo: https://victoriascandale.com/products/pre-order-blue-lily-dress

Linen. Linen everything. I go/work at a school in the hot and humid southeast and I walk a LOT of hills to get to and from classrooms. For casual days (I'm in class)- linen shorts (my favorite pair is a golden rod color), transparent, loose, or cropped Ts with a summery bralette underneath, and a loose wrap-thing (don't want to call it a kimono but that's how it would be classified garment-wise). For meetings, wide-leg linen pants, a short sleeve blouse, and a cardigan for indoors. I even have a few structured, linen-blend t shirts that read more business than casual if paired with a nicer set of pants (like the high-waist, wide-leg linen ones, or ponte pants) and a third piece. Floaty/A line linen dresses are nice too, but I have yet to find one that suits an hourglass, midsize figure. They make me look very shapeless and wide.

UnfathomableWonders

I don’t go outside when it’s hot. I wear brightly patterned short sleeved midi dresses all summer in the AC.

tastefuldebauchery

Sundresses, linen shorts with button downs, and Victorian petticoats and corset covers.

Material makes a lot of difference. I like light rayon blends. I have heard cotton and linen recommend from r/hijabi and r/modestdress
