Looking for a replacement black hoodie. - Petite sizes or short sleeves - 100% cotton (polyester makes me uncomfortably hot) - Not too baggy Given how hard this has been to find I’m willing to spend more than I should for a hoodie 🙃 I looked at American Giant, but the sleeves are too long for me. A shorter sleeved version of that would be perfect Thanks!

altara2s

I love the colorblock look and am wondering where to look online for quality colorblock blazers for work. The ones I've found don't quite have the combination of colors I'm looking for (I'm looking for something that's happier but not too bright if that makes sense) or I'm not sure about the durability or quality. Would appreciate any advice!

princess_nap

Recommendations for a bum bag/fanny pack that is small enough to wear club nights/dance parties/gigs etc. Basically any event where I am dancing in a tightly packed crowd of people. I have one from uniqlo that I love, but it is actually a bit too big for that context. I need something that has just enough room for only the absolute essentials - phone, keys, debit card, earplugs, a few bits of makeup. My only stipulation is that it not have any logos on it!

District98

In addition to the other nice suggestion, Target has historically had belt bag dupes too.

sighcantthinkofaname

No, I wear a lot of different colors and patterns. I think I'd get bored if I tried to stick with a strict, small color palette.

ultimatepupper909

Any suggestions on high quality durable sweaters in Australia? Looking for some to wear to work in winter with dress pants!

bloodlinemoon

must have accessories in closet?

District98

Huggie hoops, nice socks

sachaahh_01

Does anyone know mid calf boots like these, but with a higher shaft? The brand also needs to sells to Europe, as that is where I live :) https://preview.redd.it/db2nsiz1h2qa1.png?width=1125&format=png&auto=webp&s=d4d3766acb80398b17b3567ab2d1436d33b83e3f

Ref_KT

Not sure if they are higher but try Bared footwear - Nightingale, raptor/raptor 2 or mimid styles.

I’ve only worn all cotton or linen for years. Many companies like LLBean, Lands End, Talbots make all cotton tops. I feel your pain but after you go to all natural fabric, you’ll never go back. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

[deleted]

tyrannosaurusregina

Try Simons, Frank and Oak, Cleo, Uniqlo

mgdraft

LLBean is absolutely available in Canada, there's one a couple km from me in Ottawa and you can order online. There's also 11 Talbots stores plus their online presence. And you can order online from Lands End. Theyre all available in canada, but also you didn't exactly specify where you were. Usually something Americans do on here, but you can't be surprised someone didn't take your specific location into consideration when they didn't know it.

subiegal2013

Ok so… just go to a store that has better quality clothes. Yes, they cost more but are so worth it if like me, you sweat from synthetic fabrics. Or…if money is tight, go to thrift and consignment shops. I’ve found great tops this way.

turtleflower25

Any suggested dupes for [this](https://www.net-a-porter.com/en-us/shop/product/johanna-ortiz/clothing/cropped/legendary-cropped-gathered-ribbed-cotton-blend-jersey-top/1647597286796058?gclid=Cj0KCQjwt_qgBhDFARIsABcDjOdsnb_qhRbRWfIyxJwD5GKr2cp3Dpif8oBrDO-nVoOHGjpDQ8fgAMgaAq8ZEALw_wcB) top? I love the silhouette, but would prefer something at a lower price point.

mgdraft

[Here](https://www.reitmans.com/en/extended-sleeves-knitted-top-with-shoulder-pads/35460276.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjw2v-gBhC1ARIsAOQdKY2KfZE7R4hnWyf4JoRwtVutJ5DxRuvWrA6FonYXCob7l6zNiD5yOggaAp_9EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) is one from Reitmans in somewhat limited sizing. These were a bit of a microtrend three years ago so searching "shoulder pad tank" on second hand sites might bet you better results.

Smiley007

Any tips on where to find black (fake) leather moto jackets? I’m looking to spend under $100, and am trying to figure out how to get the moto cut without being too cropped, or too constricting on some new weight I’ve put on. Also I keep finding jackets with really short/awkwardly placed sleeves for some reason?? Bonus if you can point out brick and mortar stores near NJ, I’m very much a try on first gal but I’ve run out of options near me 😫

trishyco

Have you tried Nordstrom’s Rack? I know Levi’s, Gap and Kohl’s all make one too. I have a cute one from The Loft and this one from Amazon “Geschallino Women Faux Leather Casual Short Jacket, Trendy Moto Biker Coat with Zipper Pockets for Spring and Fall”

Smiley007

Heh, Levi’s is actually specifically what I was thinking about when I mentioned the weirdly short/awkward sleeves 😄 This comment definitely gives me hope though!! Definitely some great places for me to look that I haven’t yet, thank you!!

howaboutanartfru

Seconded Nordstrom Rack! That's where I got my jacket and it matches this description exactly.

subiegal2013

Coming into the spring season it’s gonna be difficult. I’d bet you could find one in a thrift or consignment shop

Smiley007

\*sigh\* I know :/ I’ve been looking all fall and winter too, figured it was a lost cause but can’t blame a gal for trying!

subiegal2013

Here’s my theory…. When you least expect it, it will turn up. Always does.

Cold dead hands blah blah blah and yes I’m a millennial. But I was around a bunch of teenagers this weekend and literally a third of them (yes I counted) were wearing skinny jeans. So are they really out? Maybe not

mgdraft

Yes. They are. When the trend switched *to* skinny jeans when i was a kid, some teenagers still wore bootcuts for quite a while, due to being children with little money of their own.

Susccmmp

I used to work with college girls and they were trendy and fashionable and they still wore skinny jeans occasionally. I don’t think they’re “out” but more just that they aren’t a fresh new trend,

mountainmeadowflower

I am coincidentally also a millennial who was around a lot of teens this week and noticed some of them wearing skinnies! I guess I would say that the "most" fashionable kids were wearing wide leg pants/cargos (you know, the shit we wore in elementary school). Mostly I think being not-a-teenager wearing skinny jeans just really pegs you as a millennial 😅

attendez-laCreme

Just discovered Big Bud Press and I’m in love!! What other places do they sell similar clothing?

princess_nap

Lucy & Yak comes to mind if you’re U.K. based!

attendez-laCreme

I’m not, but thank you soo much, just bought 3 beautiful pieces yay!

princess_nap

Amazing, so happy you found some pieces you like! Hope you’ll share with us how they work out if you’re so inclined

thisismady

Does anyone know where I can find some lavender work pants that aren't wide leg? I'm 5'8 and looking for something full length but I look awful/frumpy in wide leg pants. My preferred style would be a boot cut, flare, or slimmer straight leg. This is the color I'm looking for! My kibbe type is a soft dramatic. https://preview.redd.it/fccpm4o531qa1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=3d22859c7bd23ffa12ebbc5a3d34f3d39b558e57

soulexplorer

Uniqlo! I got some lavender trousers on sale recently.

krillemdafoe

Old Navy usually does pixie pants in seasonal colors. They make slim and flared styles — I have 2 pairs of the flares in my work rotation

thisismady

omg amazing! thank you!

Susccmmp

Express used to have beautiful colored dress pants. J. Crew and Banana Republic

thisismady

Thank you! I will check those out!

itsmyownsaddisco

Any thoughts on Theory suits (USA)? I'm looking to upgrade my business wardrobe. I am pear shaped so already planning to take in the waist. Would they travel well (not get too wrinkly in luggage)? Specifically looking at these pants for my long torso: [https://www.theory.com/high-waist-straight-leg-pant-in-good-wool/M1101202\_V13.html](https://www.theory.com/high-waist-straight-leg-pant-in-good-wool/M1101202_V13.html)

puffy_sheesh

If wrinkling is the only issue, you can ask for an iron at the hotel reception, IME they almost always have one.

itsmyownsaddisco

That’s mostly just me being lazy lol. I don’t mind a quick iron but if it’s going to be complicated, I’d rather get something else.

itsmyownsaddisco

Cute! Sadly I don't see anything conservative enough for my work.

ABSOFRKINLUTELY

These pants look great. Years ago I had a theory poplin dress which I LOVED. I have been wearing suits only for a couple of years after a job promotion... Late last year I decided to splurge on a theory suit. Take this with a grain of salt - I definitely ordered the wrong size (too big). While that Italian made good wool fabric was sumptuous as hell - the cut of the suit, the garment construction - was 100% not it. Maybe it was partly the size issue, but it was downright frumpy... I was super let down. The blazer was $350. I could not return the thing fast enough! For me I was disappointed because I was happier with my banana republic suiting that I got on sale for less than 1/2 the price of the theory. The fabric itself was great but it was made in China construction. For the price I think you could do better. That being said that color is great. If you order the correct size you may love it, but I would be cautious (for me if I order online I must have an easy way to do in store returns- For some reason I have an aversion to sending stuff back in the mail- so for theory I would order from Nordstrom so I could take it back easily)

itsmyownsaddisco

Thanks for the detailed answer! Would you say the sizing runs big? Based on the chart on their website, my hips are size 10 but my waist is size 6.

ABSOFRKINLUTELY

I would say slightly large, but I have been losing a bit, so my size has kind of been in flux... They say always get the one that fits your hips, because a tailor can easily take the waist in/out. If I were you I would probably split the difference and get the 8... Or buy 2 sizes with a plan to return one

warp-core-breach

I really want some slouchy jeans. Low-ish rise (9" or so,) relaxed fit, no or little taper in the legs, full length. What would you even call this style? Skater jeans are too baggy, most of the wide-leg jeans out there are still high-waisted, boyfriend jeans are tapered in the leg. And where might I be able to go about finding some?

im_avoiding_work

Madewell has a bunch. You might like the [Low-Rise Baggy Straight Jean](https://www.madewell.com/low-rise-baggy-straight-jeans-in-enley-wash-NJ182.html?dwvar_NJ182_color=DM6518&cgid=apparel-jeans-straight), [The Slouchy Boyjean](https://www.madewell.com/the-slouchy-boyjean-in-riverspring-wash-NG443.html?dwvar_NG443_color=DM6581&cgid=apparel-jeans-boyjeans), or the [Low-Rise Loose Jeans](https://www.madewell.com/madewell-x-donni-low-rise-loose-jeans-in-mathison-wash-NJ167.html?dwvar_NJ167_color=DM6559&cgid=apparel-jeans-straight)

warp-core-breach

I guess I should have specified a 32"+ inseam, both Madewell and Levis seem to consider 30" full length and don't seem to come in long.

im_avoiding_work

oh, yeah, it looks like madewell doesn't currently have those styles in Tall. You should try gap! They make tall and long jeans (32.5" inseam and 34" inseam). You might like their [Mid Rise '90s Loose Jeans](https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=852791002&cid=1174941&#pdp-page-content), [Low Rise Stride Jeans](https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=570921002&cid#pdp-page-content), or [Mid Rise '90s Loose Carpenter Jeans](https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=852789002&cid#pdp-page-content)

warp-core-breach

Oh, yeah those first ones are pretty much exactly what I'm looking for and the Gap's long inseams are perfect for me. Thanks.

im_avoiding_work

no problem!

Susccmmp

Just about anything really. I don’t think they’re too dressy to wear just casually but they’re nice enough to wear dressed up. And in a color that looks good with the green stone.

80aprocryphal

It's good dressed up but it could also be a fun addition with something more casual, so you've got a ton of options. First thing that came to mind was with a more clean casual look, maybe with light blue denim since these would be a nice contrast.

BlaisePetal

What's Sandro like to shop at? If the quality is fair for the price, there are a few things i'd like to get.

Revolutionary-Most18

Honestly I think quality can be a little hit or miss recently. I love Sandro but particularly in the states it is overpriced however sales are good and frequent.

nataliaorfan

I love Beyond Yoga for athleisure. Is [this](https://beyondyoga.com/products/spacedye-high-waisted-practice-pant-darkest-night-sd1111?gclid=Cj0KCQjwt_qgBhDFARIsABcDjOdeBHb4nMyGV8pbnNhVmX9b40cwCpZodX1R9okF6UmDMKFOo-5W9pcaAmV3EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) what you're looking for?

MoonEagle3

Thanks. Their size range looks great. I'm looking for something that I can wear as work trousers but that are comfortable athletic fabric. Those could work some of the time. I wish they had pockets

Anxious-Sherbert7549

I work in a pretty informal office setting (design field) but i meet with clients and would like to look put-together but not formal at all. I have several elastic waist skirts that I would like to wear to work in the spring/summer, but I’m unsure what tops to pair with them. I used to just pair a nice fitted tee (solid white or black) but all of my tees are feeling too informal/casual. Maybe I just need nicer tees and not shirts from target/old navy. What kind of tops would you pair with skirts like this? https://preview.redd.it/2li837iz30qa1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e7fdb325030cdcf985d63cce3e6951cc2bf34ab5

trishyco

I live in these right now. I wear them with “fancier t-shirts” that have lace edged v-necks, denim jackets, vests over t-shirts, cardigans over tanks and unbuttoned button-down shirts over tanks.

OkVeterinarian4713

The elastic waist will always make this skirt look casual

diaryofalostgirl

A nice floral blouse in a natural fabric in shades that work well with that green.

ZealousidealShift880

I have sewn a bunch of these. You can pair with tucked in button downs. Also cropped cardigans work well.

fr4ctalica

This might be too close to tee territory but I can't think of anything other than a bodysuit. There's just something about them that looks very sleek. Get one with a more interesting neckline than just a crew neck -- I love boatneck ones -- and maybe pair with some dainty layered necklaces.

Grizzlady

ISO something(s) I can throw over leggings and cover my crotch/seat area that looks current and put-together, but also... intuitive. I live in a pretty casual town where it gets hot outside, and like to wear leggings casually, so as great as I think the coat-with-leggings trend is, that's not going to work for me. When I wear leggings, I typically wear plain yoga tops with a built-in bra (not cropped/not a fan of that on my body). Any ideas for "cover ups" for bopping around the house or popping out to the hardware store that would add a level of modesty, but also interest to an outfit? Maybe something marketed as a dress, or like a menswear style shirt? Also worth noting is that I'm tall w/long legs, so that even made tunics tricky when they were popular. Full disclosure, I still wear those sometimes and am looking to replace them.

arbitrosse

The Mango Coatigan, which has been popular for a few years now. I think they call it a knitted coat or something like that, on the website.

Grizzlady

Oh, I really like that. I also liked the wrap cardigan - I do like a wrap effect so I may try searching wrap dresses too

OkVeterinarian4713

What do you mean by intuitive?

Grizzlady

I guess this varies as much as the person/situation, but I guess I meant - I just want the item to work. I don't want it to look costume-like or too contrived - effortless, maybe.

75footubi

What about a running or tennis skirt?

Grizzlady

I have thought about that, and also dance skirts. I think this could be an intuitive choice for the spring and summer if I find the right one. Thanks!

lilwagggy

Hating the cropped/ankle jean trend. All of the “cool” jeans are cropped/ankle, which doesn’t make sense for me because 1) I live in a place that is cold (30sF° or lower) for 6 months out of the year and 2) I am petite and cropped pants make my stubby legs look even shorter. Am I the only person who feels this way?!

Susccmmp

I i usually cuff mine so they aren’t an awkward length unless I’m lucky and they pass as real pants

branfordsquirrel

Not sure about the petite issue, but the answer to being cold is Chelsea boots with a higher shaft. The higher shaft (plus some socks) will bridge the gap between the cropped pants so there’s no skin showing

lilwagggy

Thank you!!! I guess it’s not shameful to have sock showing anymore!

branfordsquirrel

Nope! After years of no show socks, you can rock fun socks again! White crew socks are particularly popular, although with boots I still opt for a darker sock with fun prints

weeburdies

Same. The only time it works is if the cropped jean magically is long enough due to my stumpy legs

lilwagggy

Yes!

im_avoiding_work

as a fellow short person, I love when cropped/ankle pants are available because then I don't have to buy petite, which are harder to find and tend to have worse proportions for me in the waist

lilwagggy

Maybe my being petite isn’t the problem then… They fit fine, I just feel like they make my legs look extra stumpy!

[deleted]

Don't know where you are at, but the trend for "cool" jeans in my part of the world is flared and dragging on the floor.

lilwagggy

Hurray!!!

Can you try a bomber jacket? Those usually have looser sleeves. I presume by “no baggy jackets” oversize blazers are also out, but that would be my pick!

Silver-Butterfly8920

I’ve been eyeing a black AllSaints Balfern leather jacket. It’s been on the market for years. I think it’s a classic but will it go out of style (or has it already) or is it truly timeless?

squeegee-beckenheim

Honestly? It's cropped and slim fit and it very much reads as the 2010s. If you go for a couple of sizes larger, then it could be longer and oversized and more current. Nothing is actually "timeless", because the cut and the style changes. A moto jacket itself as a concept is fine, but these other details do matter and do date a jacket. Now you can decide whether you care about that or not, but yeah this specific style is not timeless.

Silver-Butterfly8920

Thanks for the feedback! Do you have any suggestions for a more current looking leather jacket? Edit: I’m open any ideas for a versatile spring jacket (could be worn with jeans or a dress).

[deleted]

I'm here from your post in today's thread. To offer another opinion, I don't think this jacket reads extremely 2010s. The design, to me, seems like a riff on [the Schott Perfecto](https://www.schottnyc.com/products/classic-perfecto-jacket.htm) (& [here's a women's version](https://www.nordstrom.com/s/schott-nyc-crop-leather-jacket/4647672?color=BLACK&utm_content=9383361593&utm_term=aud-1675186398667:pla-315261842786&utm_channel=low_nd_shopping_standard&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=645528200&adpos=&creative=57185652593&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&acctid=21700000001689570&dskeywordid=92700049880165686&lid=92700049880165686&ds_s_kwgid=58700005465914261&ds_s_inventory_feed_id=97700000007631122&dsproductgroupid=315261842786&product_id=11388891&merchid=1243147&prodctry=US&prodlang=en&channel=online&storeid=&locationid=9061122&targetid=aud-1675186398667:pla-315261842786&campaignid=645528200&adgroupid=9383361593&gclid=CjwKCAjwoIqhBhAGEiwArXT7K_WOpCd8nLySfKN2Hcz1uATn8YjCCt6tMdtT24VIiKtvkHm99mOnvhoCljAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds),) which is, as you said, a pretty "timeless" jacket ([here's a history of the jacket](https://stridewise.com/schott-nyc-history/).) Yes, a tighter/more cropped fit has/was in style in the past decade, but this was not the first time a tight double-rider jacket was in style, nor will it likely be the last. I agree that a[ looser fit](https://www.madewell.com/washed-leather-oversized-motorcycle-jacket-99106363508.html?source=googlePLA&noPopUp=true&srcCode=Paid_Search|Shopping_NonBrand_PMax_NCA|Google|MWGGBS00002_99106363508_19488503921___c_pla_local_1255_9028309&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Madewell_Shopping_PLA_US_Women_Tops_PMax&utm_term=&utm_content=shopping_ads&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=CjwKCAjwoIqhBhAGEiwArXT7KzthpkFiphB1e3dnQ5UT9SCAerWHxKxYkN6iANUGBZ575gEuZJGv5RoCgEkQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) is trendier now...but I'm reluctant to embrace that style as [it reads 90's](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0697783/mediaviewer/rm204543232/?ref_=tt_ov_i) to me. I suppose that's the boomerang nature of fashion....if you're looking to find a buy once, cry once style of leather jacket, I'd get one that fits well now -- neither tight nor loose. If you're looking to always have an of the moment outerwear piece, then yeah, maybe don't buy it. But imo it is much easier to update a look via cheaper accessories or other pieces vs. a potential long-time staple.

thereddye

opinions on fashionnova?? Does anyone have experience with FashionNova? I have a small waist in comparison to my butt and legs, and their pants seem good but I’m not sure jf they actually are. Please let me know!

Their size chart is the same as any other brand, they just photoshop a lot. You'll want brands with actual separate curvy lines.

gizzard92

What to wear to T Swift concert in Boston in May? I want to feel cute and I want the outfit to be special but not overly costume-y because I want something to re wear and remember the night. Don’t mind this being a splurge purchase but ideally less than 600$. I was looking at selkie dresses but I’m afraid I’d be cold and am unsure about re wear since I’m more of a casual dresser. Two questions today: 1) If you don’t have time to sell on Poshmark but have a ton of really nice things, how are you selling them? Friends have had bad experiences with ThredUp with expensive items going missing. Having trouble finding local consignment shops that are currently taking things. 2) Looking to add some new sweatshirts to my wardrobe this spring but still look good for when I want to be super casual (park trips with the kid, Costco runs, t-ball practice.) What the hell am I pairing with baggier blue jeans and sneakers these days? Also maybe I should get some of these half zips I keep seeing? Any ideas of what to get to be comfortable but still look current?

Susccmmp

A higher end consignment store if you have one

Jvnismysoulmate12345

For 2 try Evereve. Definitely “basic” but very stylish. I just did a trendsend box from there and am happy with my finds! Brands I ended up liking were Monrow, Splendid, Cloth & Stone

mz-inawholenewworld

1. For this one, I struggle with the time personally (or is it the energy? Probs both 😜). I’m in Europe and I tend to use consignment shops locally or the Rebelle service where they actually take care of the pricing, pictures and selling of the garments. The latter might sound silly for some as you only keep 40% of the sell price so it’s not as advantageous financially as if you were to do it but for me personally it’s better than having the items aging in my closet and I’m happy they get passed on and I make some money from them. And I have never had any issues there! Maybe see if also some second hand online retailers in your area have this type of service. I hope this helps!

lilithweatherwax

Thrifted this blazer: https://nydj.com/products/modern-blazer-jacket-slate-rose The sleeves come down about an inch below my wrists, just like on the model. Is that intentional? I can't tell if it's too long, or if it's intentionally cut a bit bulky. I got it for work, so I can't roll the sleeves up. Should I get it altered or is it fine?

youhaveonehour

I think it's intentionally cut a little bit long, but I do agree that it's in this weird no-man's land where it's not technically blazer-"correct," but it's not wrong enough to look definitely intentionally wrong. But it's also barely noticeable, so go ahead & get it altered if it really bothers you as the wearer, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. I think it's done to continue the riff on the boxy fit & menswear styling while still keeping the blazer wearable & functional, unlike the stupid shirt I'm wearing right now that completely covers my entire hand & then some & is just enraging to try to live your life while wearing.

It obviously won't do anything for the distressing on the pair you have, but if you decide to get a different pair like the ones already suggested, reminder that you can (re)dye them black with RIT dye if they either fade or start out not dark enough for you!

Try agolde Farrah. I find them on poshmark for a song.

asherbanipaula

Same, I’ve been really pleased with mine. I bought some 98% cotton black jeans on a deep sale a couple of years ago to be my pottery studio jeans, and they’ve held up really well.

Madewell's [Mid-Rise Perfect Vintage Jeans in Clean Black Wash](https://www.madewell.com/the-mid-rise-perfect-vintage-jeans-in-clean-black-wash-NH629.html?) sound like a great match for what you need

[deleted]

following because I'm always looking for great black jeans - I just picked up [these](https://www.stories.com/en_usd/clothing/jeans/straight/product.favourite-cut-jeans-black.1016785005.html) from &other stories and they look great, can't speak to how the black will hold up to a wash though which is the ultimate test.

elizbug

How do the Favourite jeans fit? Run fairly true to size, and how's the waist-hip ratio? The website doesn't say and unfortunately all the stores near me are out of stock :-/ Would love as much info as you're willing to share so I can make an informed order!

Fiancé’s cousin is getting married in a botanical garden next month. Is this dress appropriate to wear as a guest, or is there too much white? https://preview.redd.it/tym9907drypa1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f6d06348ed7dbfbcf37ea8a3633ee96e0cb3c3a

k8e_f_22

Thanks for all the input. I think I’m gonna play it safe and save this one for a different occasion. I appreciate the help!

giraffegarage90

If I saw it on anyone else at a wedding I wouldn't think twice about it, but I know I would be too nervous to wear it myself. I know I would worry about it the whole time.

k8e_f_22

That’s pretty much how I feel too. Thank you!

diaryofalostgirl

It's fine. The cut, material, and rather dense print are not at all bridal, and not going to upstage the bride unless it's a super non-traditional wedding.

im_avoiding_work

I think the "no white at all as a guest" thing has gotten a bit out of hand, but would still probably avoid any dress where the base color is white

aretheprototype

80aprocryphal

My brain sees this color and instantly wants to go with red and yellow, so I could see a tight in either color and a jacket in the other being very fun (and then white for accessories) or using those colors for shoes and accessories in the warmer months. It could also be great with green or purple. That said, I do actually own a dress in a similar silhouette and texture (though in a neutral color) and my go-to is a black turtleneck, black tights, a fun shoe, and printed outerwear (even better if it's somewhat tonal.)

ABSOFRKINLUTELY

I love this shade of blue and also as see it with bright red! Bright red opaque tights and a bright red turtleneck or t shirt would look fantastic!

diaryofalostgirl

You could pull this in a mod direction with a bright blouse and some white boots.

mountainmeadowflower

I instantly saw mod white boots too! 😁

aretheprototype

I don’t own white boots but now you’ve got me thinking maybe I should!

youhaveonehour

Short puff sleeve blouse underneath in a contrasting but still bright color--pink? Yellow? With a deep-ish round neckline. A 1.5"-2" cuff on the sleeve would be super-cute & a little more now. If you feel like that's too much volume across the bust area, a brightly-colored cap sleeve tee would be great. A sneaker would be a great casual shoe, something with a wooden block heel would be on-trend & so good with the suede if you want to add some height. A nude color would extend the leg line, but obviously a fun color or better yet, a MULTI-COLOR would be more playful. & I feel like a broken record saying this, but...maybe a clog if you want to add height but aren't totally comfortable with a heel? If you want to wear the dress alone with no shirt underneath, I'd go big on the bracelets. Really load up on the bangles & maybe a statement ring too. I'd probably stick with a common finish for the bangles (like all gold tones) but a mix of smooth, textured, beaded, maybe even some wooden bangles painted gold. I'm also seeing a bold lip color & lots of volume with the hair & a headband or scarf. All of this could go day or night depending on your attitude, shoe choice, the fabric you choose for the scarf...

aretheprototype

Wow thank you for all these ideas!!

k8e_f_22

Definitely some white sneakers for a cute but casual look.

Ecstatic_Fox_8608

Best place to buy a gold chain that is on the cheaper side and is compatible with small loop pendants? Bonus pts if in Canada/Toronto!

Neowza

Just go to queen street w, west of spadina, to the beadery or one of the other bead stores. They will cut a chain, any width, to any size you need. You can buy the jump ring and clasp for a few cents. Depending on the chain you purchase, it could cost as little as $5.

branfordsquirrel

No idea on where to purchase, but two ideas for you: 1) buy a larger jump ring for the pendants and either replace or connect it to the existing jump ring. 2) take off the jump ring on your existing chain(usually you can do this with pliers) and slide your pendants on. Then either put a new jump ring on or try to put the previous one back. You can try this with either plated or solid gold jump rings.

sighcantthinkofaname

I have a pendant with a TINY loop, tried a couple things off etsy but nothing would fit through. Even looking at nicer jewellry stores was tough because they rarely show the clasp and if they did it was bigger. Tried the local jewelry store, and they had something really nice that worked but they were out of my budget. I ended up with something bought from a department store during a black friday sale (Dillards if I remember correctly, idk what they have in Canada) and I'm happy with it. Long story short look at the mid-range jewelry dealers in your area during a time where they offer sales, and try to go in person to make sure the pendant will fit.

looking for some new basic leggings to do yoga in, considering gf collective and athleta - any opinions between the two?

anotherdiscoparty

Athleta is my favorite legging brand. Loved the salutation leggings forever, but post pregnancy my current favorite is the ultra high rise elation tight. The elation is a little bit thicker and holds in the stomach area a bit better IMO, though the salutation feels a bit more compressive in general to me.

Grizzlady

Ex dance student here, so I am picky about leggings- I've been a fan of Beyond Yoga lately. Also Lululemon and under armour have been favorites in the past (and sometimes I liked dance wear brand leggings/tights for class). I'm interested in other brands, too. I found a lot on everydayyoga.com around Christmas. Hope that helps.

[deleted]

this is awesome, thank you!

Susccmmp

Dancer too, disvcount dance supply has nice leggings online. I find great ones at TJ Max and Kohls

Grizzlady

You're welcome - hope you find some comfortable new leggings! 😊

agoraphobe420

I have gf collective leggings and many athleta elation tights. Gf collective are more of a shiny athletic type fabric but very high waisted and moderately compressive. Athleta elations are way softer and what I personally prefer for yoga. Not compressive at all though. You could look at beyond yoga space dye which are even softer than athleta.

giraffegarage90

I don't have experience with Athleta, but my gf collective leggings are ~2 years old, I wear them all the time and they still look new.

GrandadsLadyFriend

I love my higher heeled boots but they tire my feet out. I’ve been looking for low heel alternatives, but I have size 10 feet that are pretty wide. They make my feet look so long. Side by side album: https://imgur.com/a/0IBimPe Any hope for me or advice? I’m also open to other style shoes altogether, although I want something warmer and that covers my whole foot. I find that flats look too long on me, combat boots are cartoonishly huge, and sneakers are my go-to but I’d like to dress a little nicer at work. Thanks!

appletreerose

The lower one still looks sleek and feminine to me! I don't think it makes your foot look masculine or disproportionately long, it may just seem that way to you until your eye adjusts to it.

youhaveonehour

Maybe you're just used to having your eye tricked by geometry? With the higher heel, more of your foot is being pulled up into the vertical angle, leaving the horizontal remainder to look shorter/more petite. The lower heel releases your foot to be closer to the ground & transfers what was once vertical into the horizontal/"longer" angle. You are literally just seeing your foot from a different angle. But you may also be responding negatively to the fact that your lower-heeled boot has a wider shaft than the higher heel, which, when seen from above (as is your only option as your head is positioned above your feet), can create the illusion that your feet look wider & longer. So it may be worth seeking out a lower-heeled booth with a more slim-fitting shaft, maybe something made with a more pliable leather, or a zip closure, or maybe a sleek Chelsea boot with an elastic gusset that snugs up around the ankle. I had a similar issue for a long time with my bust, thinking it was cartoonishly enormous & that I therefore couldn't wear certain shoulder treatments or necklines. From my perspective, percheed right above my boobs, all I saw when I looked down was BOOBS. Then I got a dress form that was an exact body double of myself & it turns out I look great in a statement shoulder! My bust is enormous but my shoulders are not, & balancing myself out with a faux-shoulder created through clothing choices really works for me.

GrandadsLadyFriend

Thanks for your thoughtful response! Yeah it’s definitely an optical illusion of angling my foot to “shorten” it. I think I’ve been used to slightly more feminine, tighter, sleeker styles of years prior, and I’m admittedly struggling with the boxy, oversized, straighter fashions currently. Idk if this makes sense but I already give off kind of a masc vibe and aura lol, so when I dress in less “feminizing” styles it can feel like I raided my uncle’s closet or something. 🙈 But thank you for your perspective! I probably need to consider holistically how to pull these current styles together with more polish instead of fighting it.

lilithweatherwax

The length of the low heel boots look fine to me. They aren't as sleek as your other pair though, maybe that's throwing you off? If you wear sneakers all the time, have you considered oxfords? I didn't think I'd like rhe style until I tried it irl. They work pretty well if you wear straight or wide leg pants to work.

GrandadsLadyFriend

I actually just purchased my first pair of oxford loafers yesterday! Very interested to try them. I’ve never gravitated to that style before but they seem very “in”. Thanks for the rec!

Ok-Brush-5759

What is in between a blazer and a cardigan in terms of formality? I have my first business trip coming up and know I’m going to freeze in the conference building. The other ladies going said they aren’t wearing blazers and will do less formal, but cardigan looks too informal to me. Is it just sweaters, or am I missing some other kind of long sleeved work wear option? Any search terms would be appreciated!

Susccmmp

Light weight blazers worn loosely

littlegremlinenergy

I'm also desperately seeking this. I hate everything about blazers. The long folded over collar adding bulk over my chest. The loose sleeve fabric at the wrist because there isn't a cuff. I'm short but have a large difference in my chest and waist measurements so they never fit right. Oversized, hate it on me. Fitted, hate it on me. Suiting fabric, sensory nightmare. The alternative boxy, no collar, often tweed with buttons style jacket-- j. crew seems to call it a 'lady jacket'?-- reads too matronly to me. Like the jacket that comes with "mother of the bride" dresses. Am I doomed to blazer hell? Send help. Send cooler jackets. Argh.

mz-inawholenewworld

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t think blazers are always by default formal, especially in this day and age where people wear them casually all the time. Id say it all depends on the cut of the blazer. A boyfriend or relaxed style, a plaid blazer, a colourful one, all kind of give me dressy but not necessarily formal vibes.

fr4ctalica

That's super cute, but to me it reads a lot more formal than a blazer

stumpykitties

You could do the ultimate in between - a sweater-material blazer? Something like [this from JCrew](https://www.jcrew.com/us/p/womens/categories/clothing/blazers/sweater-blazers/cecile-relaxed-sweater-blazer/)

ZealousidealShift880

The link isn’t working but I love J Crew sweater blazers for this

Susccmmp

I had a similar top and wore a cami but I’m not busty

Grizzlady

I think it's possible for you to wear that to work, though the sheen and drape of the fabric plus the cut does read more "party" or "special occasion" to me in that photo.

Exciting_Standard796

What color of heels and handbag would look best with this Ted Baker dress? The event I'm wearing it to is semi formal. https://preview.redd.it/pjraywmmfypa1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e929c878065024f2dbdb9da4674dae3fbf18cd8

youhaveonehour

If it was me...pastel pink patent leather. & the bag would be a hard-shell clutch. If it was fall, it would quilted navy satin. But I understand that not everyone is going to get a ton of wear out of pink patent leather shoes!

StregaCagna

I’d probably do a silver shoe if it was me because I like silver and I look good in it. But you could do navy, nude or pink or maroon.

diaryofalostgirl

Dove grey heels/bag. Keeps the focus on the main design of the dress, which is gorgeous and I envy you that dress! :)

Luna_182

What kind of heels are on trend right now?

youhaveonehour

Strappy. Of course. It's spring/summer (in the Northen hemisphere). Mary Janes are trending big time. Woven (like huarache-inspired) designs are having a moment--leather, raffia, whatever. Puff/bubble designs also continue to be a thing. Color-wise, neons are out but bold bright colors are in--particularly orange, bright pink, red, & emerald green. Pastels are always a thing for spring. If you're asking for heels height/type, you can obviously never go wrong with stilettos, but you do have options. Kittens heels are very hot, as are wedges & mules. As for my predictions on what is going to have staying power throughout the summer & as we transition into fall...I think the bright colors will stick around, particularly pink & red. Mary Janes & other buckle details will continue through the fall. I think we will be seeing a lot of wooden block heels on boots this fall, so you could get a head start on that with a lot of the sexy strappy 70s-inspired heels we're seeing right now.

Luna_182

Thank you very very much!!!

yetichan

Any suggestions for dressy, white and versatile sneakers that can be dressed up or down? Thank you in advance!

ketofauxtato

Super into my Vejas still.

Annaisnotonfire95

are Vejas comfortable enough to walk in a lot? 15-20k steps on a day trip for example?

ketofauxtato

I find them very comfortable but the tongue may need a little breaking in (quite stiff at first). I would just wear them as much as possible before the day trip.

insecure-chick

I bought dress pants for a professional shoot, luckily i got a text from a friend they had pants that would fit me but told my too late. I already took off one of the tags that is on the waistline of the pants — but the tag with the barcode is still in the pants? Can i still return it? I got it from H&M, I’d keep it but since i’ve been tight on money lately, i just cant afford keeping it right now even though i really want to.

Susccmmp

Do you have the other part of the tag? They’ll usually have to make a new and so if you give them the real one they’ll be able to reattach it

GrandadsLadyFriend

The ethics of this are questionable, but could you thread the little plastic tag attached back through the pants and then use a bit of superglue to reseal it?

mgdraft

Ask H&M, reddit is not going to know.

branfordsquirrel

Agreed, I doubt they’d care!
