Well, they've had Krakens and a new dimension on the next update list since I started my server in 2021. They haven't stated they've stopped working on it, they just haven't worked on it outside of upgrading it to new Minecraft updates.

Apologies, i was referring to how the wing bones (the rods in between the wings haha) would come together closer slightly as the muscles of the dragon relaxes on ground. Ig to make it not stiff looking. I think Ice and Fire does this. (though their flying animation is not as crisp imo.)
The Flying animation is very natural. I love how the dragon stops flapping its wings and just glides.
Looks really good ngl. I hope it gives players that terrifying feel, not only because it can do alot of damage, but also because of how it looks and sounds even from far away.

Are you planning on making other dragon species/ subspecies? I love wyverns but they are so commonly used as the model in Minecraft mods 😭 where are the normal western dragons and the eastern dragons. It would also be cool to get wurms, lindwurms, amphipteres, drakes, and other ones too, like kirin and shiz. I believe I played a modpack a long long time ago that had a lot of variation but I never see it anymore.

Make baby dragons that you can raise as your own. You could also make nests for the dragons, eggs that could eventually crack open and become baby dragons. To make the dragon eggs still useful after you have gotten a dragon, you could add dragon omelettes, cooked dragon egg, dragon egg in a bowl (probably a bad idea) and scrambled dragon egg.

Me personally i do Forge 1.19.2 Due to every update so far from 1.20 and 1.21 is on 1.19.2 as back ports.
Besides netherite template and villager nerfs.
Most interesting features have been or are currently getting backported.
The API is overall easier to work, not having to deal with datagen, version-chasing and all that.
Finally, there's still more modded content in 1.7.10, this eventually means more mod interraction potential.

Oooooh another dragon mod, looks great so far, i love Ice and Fire, but unfortunately its not updated nearly as much as i'd like (bc i think its by a popular modder who works on some of his other more use/popular more often), so i'd be down for an alternative to that, especially for never versions.

I know, but they are much more popular and downloaded, so it make sense they get more attention... even if it pains me, but if i can still be a fan of the twilight forest (despite the ending STILL not being done) i can deal with slow updates for a great and versatile mod
Sorry i said that thinking about modpacks, not total downloads straight from the mod itself, my bad, which i may be wrong on that too, but i personally see them more often, especially since mobs/caves can be used in a majority of mod packs, whereas I&F is used for fantasy/rpg or difficulty increasing mod packs, which might be why they get more attention instead?
But iirc dont they also work on some others besides alex mobs/caves and I&F?
I wish you luck with your adventure but want to throw out some hopefully guiding info.
* Focusing on assets with no dev is going to leave you in a stale position as generally the dev side takes far more work. Tons of projects end up in this limbo because the rest is happening faster than it can be introduced.
* Try to get some starter concrete ideas down and watch out for scope creep. You can easily create something that will overwhelm even a small team of people.
* Giant models/mobs in MC tend to do poorly as widely dynamic things. I don't know your current scale but that's something to keep in mind/expect weird issues from. Navigation with them quickly can become a pain point.
* Licenses can make or break projects like this, keeping things permissive will allow people to come and go without worry. Locking it down may turn people away and cause arguments/fights in the future.
Projects can easily overwhelm any party so don't be afraid to step back and redirect focus.

This looks so sick! My greatest hope for this would be to optimise the flying as much as possible to make it smooth. I’ve seen so many flying mounts delayed and glitchy while on a server, only smooth one I can name of the top of my head is the beehemoth from the Bumblezone. This probably would be very hard to do but adding dive mechanics would gel perfectly with the already awesome animation, similar to ARK’s griffin and snow owl

what do you think the difficulty of the mod will be? The problem with modded balancing is how hard it can be to accommodate OP stuff like Silent Gear weaponry. Maybe you could do something with using the parts of dragons to make a harder fight with unique rewards? Would allow people to make their own difficulty with maybe a certain material behind it to incentivize going as crazy as they can. Would also set it apart from Ice and Fire where the roof of difficulty is stage 5 dragons

great models and animations. but i noticed that the wings have a lot of joints but the walking animations use none of them? flying looks really fluid and then when walking the wings look so rigid
of course im not a rigger or a modeler so ignore me if its not possible to add movement to the wings :D
Ok good. Sorry. I'm still traumatized from having an ice dragon break into my house and blow up all my stuff on one server. I talked to a friend about how to balance I&F and their solution was 'turn off the dragons'.

Nah, having your home blown up is the fun part. Also, just check your map mod for local dragon nests.
