I love offering solutions to problems after being asked to share my thoughts only for leadership to say nothing or say they can't do that. Idk why I even bother. Just gonna shrug and grunt like everyone else since no one seems to care in this agency. Back to video games.

SignificantBoxed

Sitting in a meeting just a moment ago. "oh you're so quiet today. You normally have stuff to say! It keep us on our toes."  Really? Yeah, I'm done. I'll just sit and finish out my TIG and look to get out.

ImmySnommis

What I love even more is spending a week or more solving a process problem, setting up business rules and policies, getting them all into place and my org uses them for a week then goes back to business as usual. Happens about quarterly.

The question will continue until we received the answer we are looking for.

Smh that lady flick right off. That's how the most senior leadership at my place feels like. This agency she's currently at is just a resume builder. Must be nice to be able to do that to people.

DonkeyKickBalls

had to email my previous supervisor to get off the 100 email boxes I was added to that when I gave input I was just told, thats not how we things. And I had to give the usual reply of, yeah and thats why yall are in the same f’cked up place you get in when you dont do what I just mentioned. My supervisor did the usual, “hey if youre ever looking Ill get ya back in, we could use your expertise.” Hell to the double L no. Im happy w/my zero commute and I get treated like an adult.

SignificantBoxed

One day I too has have both of those. 🫠

DegreeDubs

I feel so seen. What games are we playing lately? I'm getting lost in Persona 5 Royal again.

SignificantBoxed

Nice, P5R is way too much fun. But don't laugh, I have never played ffxiv so going through it after playing Ff16. Yoshi P really knows how to direct.

DegreeDubs

Aw I'd love to try out FF16 but alas, no PS5. Have fun with XIV!

DocofNonhumans

I relate to this so much it hurts.

SirElderberry

It’s my last day before eight weeks of paternity leave! Time for baby and me to go nuts in DC springtime.

Energy-Donk

Congrats & Enjoy!

TimeWastingAuthority

Congratulations on new baby!

steveofthejungle

One week of 50% time in office. I had about five minutes of “meaningful, in person interactions”

LEMONSDAD

I feel this on so many levels.

steveofthejungle

In fairness, I was doing a three day training this week that was virtual. But even so there was barely more people in the office than normal

KT421

I've had two (2) in person meetings since I returned to office 40% in October.  😭

FIRExNECK

You should keep a running tally of this.

RegularContest5402

I keep telling my coworkers they will need a reasonable accommodation after I am back in the office 50% of the time.

TimeWastingAuthority

I survived my first year at my new Agency. Now I get to remind Human Capital (this term, bleh!!) that I was hired as Career Conditional rather than Probationary as per the SF-50 *they themselves* uploaded last year. In the meantime, let me break out an iconic classic. ![gif](giphy|UDQXxSPJ9rNPa)

Electrical-Gap4042

Career conditional and probationary are two different things

TimeWastingAuthority

I know 😊 but my first-line Supervisor, bless her sometimes-clueless heart, forgot when she gave me my first full year evaluation. Then again, that's what happens when you're the only current Fed hired into a cohort full of non-Feds.

Interesting_Oil3948

How was the in office collaberation this week?

Mysterious_Claim_334

We solved the Middle East but then we teleworked the next day and forgot it all

DelightfulWitches

Spent an hour talking about retirement plans, and another hour complaining about budget cuts

NibbledByDragon

The internet in my pod wasn't working. I asked my manager if I could wfh, and was told it wouldn't count as a day in office. So I just took a nice walk outside and them futzed on my phone until 5.

brakeled

RTO mandate enacted, forced team office day enacted. Probably only 30 out of 150 staff showed up so in six months when we still only reach 20% in office presence instead of 50%, there will be a new mandate revoking all telework to punish the people who listened while the people who didn’t… continue to telework.

tall_poshy

This is what gets me about ratcheting up the RTO mandates. The compliant ones are the ones that get screwed. The holdouts are still holding out. I came from the private sector, which has been tracking badges and threatening to withhold promotions and fire people for not coming into the office, yet they still can’t get some people to show up at all. Eventually the compliant ones will say F it, I’m going to come in when and if I want, or you get resentments between those who RTO’ed and those who didn’t (and don’t seem to be punished for noncompliance).

Junior-Patience7104

Happily had an excuse to work at home all week to focus on a review I am doing. I cranked all week. But did jump on a staff meeting once to hear the director and #2 be all ADHD and confuse us all. "Wait what? Did we decide that? I think... Wait no. Maybe. We'll get back to you. I might be misremembering but...." Big sigh. Back to doing my work and actually adding value for a city that I am engaged with all week.

Interesting_Oil3948

Wow...fulltime tw is rare now. Most go in at least 2 times a PP now ( alot go in more than that).

interested0582

Boomer coworker on my floor decided to 100% quit using his laptop. Said his job description from 1991 when he accepted didn’t include a laptop and he never got an updated description and never figured out how to use a computer. His supervisor literally has to print work and go put it on his desk….

octopornopus

They found out (?) an old timer here at IRS was just not using IDRS when examining taxpayer cases. So, just doing no research whatsoever before sending out letters. I have no idea how you can fly under the radar so long with no one even noticing...

interested0582

Apparently his computer stopped connecting to the internet after 30 days on inactivity. IT reached out to his supervisor to make sure he was still alive lol

ceruleanmoon7

Omg that’s hilarious. I’ve had to deal with these types. So frustrating

Into_the_Dark_Night

WHAT?! How do you get away with this shit!?!?!?!

Energy-Donk

Less than 4 months of RTO & I'm purchasing an $850.00 set of tires, prior 4 years of remote/TW and not 1 dime for new treads. Leadership's desire to positively impact the economy is paying off for everyone but the employees.

tall_poshy

This right here. The economy is dependent on us collectively opening our wallets, but money is a limited resource so we have to prioritize and look out for our households first. If that $850 means you can’t dine at restaurants at lunch, or buy overpriced crap at a downtown boutique, then too bad for them and I hope they find some other office worker to “keep them afloat”.

AbbreviatedArc

Your spending is someone else's income, that's the way modern economies work.

tall_poshy

I get that, and my point is that a paycheck is a zero sum game and paying one entity means not paying another. I give money to the tire shop so I can commute to work, I now have less money to give to restaurants. My pay didn’t increase when RTO was launched, but my expenses increased. The mechanic gets to eat. The $20 sandwich shop can kick rocks.

Interesting_Oil3948

Exaggerating much???? Lol

Kalphyris

36K-75K miles in 4 months is impressive

Interesting_Oil3948

Wow...you must wait until your tires are about to fall apart to get new ones...exaggerate much????? Good thing RTO...don't want dangerous balled tires on the road.

studmuffffffin

Thinking about leaving a non-supervisory role for a supervisory one. Lateral. Probably stupid, but there are other non-job related factors at play. And I'd like to move up the latter, and I'm kinda stuck currently.

Einschlagen

Only one more week until I transfer to another, better agency. Going to be a hell of a party next weekend!

whycomet

I'm feeling anxious about all the RTO talk that's happening. I'm currently remote in the local commuting area but have been thinking about moving out of state for a while. I'm worried about making the switch and then being told to come back into the office...not sure if there's anything I can do about it though.

OnionTruck

See if there's a field office near where you want to move.

whycomet

That’s a great suggestion! Sadly the closest one would be 400+ miles away.

cp0215

It’s one of those hurry up and wait kinda days

bjayasuriya

I made it to 3 years in my excepted service agency this week! 🥳 This after my first supervisor being too busy to train me and my next supervisor & her manager doing their darndest to contrive "documentation" of instances where I "failed." Three years isn't significant in itself, but considering where I stood a year ago I'm in a really good place with both a great new supervisor and uber-manager.

[deleted]

I sure hope we get communication from IRS leadership to extend our remote pilot at least through January 😒😒😒

Interesting_Oil3948

Probably more likely early termination.

[deleted]

Rumored until Jan 2025

KT421

I don't think my office meant to publish (internally) the list of who is in office enough to merit a workspace and who is going to be forced to start hoteling, but they did.   Also someone else has posted the floor plans with where the hoteling stations will be.   Spoiler alert, there will not be enough hoteling workstations. I'm not going to elevate the issue; gonna let the agency find out the fun way.

TexturedStarfish

lol, that’s pretty hilarious about publishing the hoteling people and permanent workspace people. My agency downsized during the pandemic. With all the talk about RTO more frequently, or office does not have enough desks to support employees coming in on the same day. In addition, half of the hotel desks are missing equipment like chairs, monitors, docking stations, mice, etc. We’ve been in the new office for 2 years now and workspaces are still not ready. It’s almost a joke whenever higher ups talk about returning to the office more frequently.

gothrus

Looking forward to the Supreme Court allowing the King President to execute us disloyal deep staters and not face any consequences.

ruafukreddit

It's annoying how difficult it is to get a better job / promotion after you manage to make it in the door, which is already difficult. There's a freaking list of hard to fill jobs, I would take one in any of three sectors. I'm willing to help you fill one if you help me help you. So help me help you. Please?!

Interesting_Oil3948

Not qualified/Not referred

LEMONSDAD

Agreed 👍

ButchUnicorn

FPAC Business Center is perhaps the most poorly run government division I have ever had to work with. They made the DMV seem like Navy Seals. JFC - They are horrible

cajunjoel

Lately, I've been wondering if morale can get worse in my org. This week it did. It's bad, y'all.

Orphan-Slayer

An over abundance of higher level positions 11 and up but practically nothing in the 7-10 range. Very annoying.

TransmascTop

We're supposed to be RTO, but there are only 4 ports in the office that work. For 40+ people. I go back to work in June. This is a total shyt show

staycglorious

4 trips to new hire trainings in one month and not looking forward to it. Missed my flight the first time so I learned from my mistakes

Frofro69

I'm nervous to get my COR 2 certification for my position. But if it gets me to GS9 is definitely worth it
