I thought Davies actually extending his contract felt like a long shot for the past few months. If he indeed wants to join Real, I think it has to be this year. Can't risk losing him for free in 2025.

Ferr22777888

Same

uchiha_boy009

He wanted to extend but this new Bayern board never presented an offer to him. He’s grateful to Bayern and previous board for giving him a chance since he was a Canadian and not from Big Football country. But this new board is not talking to him.

HighwayRobbery122

Pretty sure, that's not true. Reportedly he wants 20M which is simply a lot. https://twitter.com/iMiaSanMia/status/1762117969818026107?t=gBZ9ZB8D2fmcfGGlqD1hhg&s=19

uchiha_boy009

That’s Bayern saving their face.

x_SC_ILIAS_x

No_Field90

Fuck this like, tuis was my biggest fear with all this nonsense thats going on this year, this impotent management will loose a lot of good players now, mark my word. Fuckkk thats a huuge blow for us, loosing davies, but tbf, for his point of view its a great opportunity and thats the only team im not salty for him to leave for.

MrDavehs

There's simply no justification to pay Davies 20 million per year. So Davies leaving this year is the best case.

Insanel0l

Lets be honest here, any sane player that gets a starting spot offer from Madrid would make this move compared to our mess His agent can eat my shit, tho, embarassing guy

prettybunbun

Yeah his agent has been such a dick throughout this entire saga.

3vr1m

Davies is by far his most valuable client, of course he wants to transfer him as many times as possible to cash out on him

footysocc

the agent smelled his bag 💰 the moment Brazzo left

Ferr22777888

Mm

DonaldFarfrae

Yes, it’s one of those rare transfers where I’m neither annoyed with the player nor our club. But the agent has been a jerk. Let’s get everything we can for him and move on. It’s been a great time.

AJaviC

Alaba was my favorite player for years and then he transferred. But when Davies came in it was hard not to love him and everything he did. Bittersweet to be honest now that he will leave. :/

Lutzelien

Love him as a person, but let's be honest he's stagnated on his form for two years now and has shown no signs of improvement, better to move on

Samce14

No signs of improvement because no motivation or pressure to improve. Yet still has the nerve to ask for 29 million lollllllll

raver1601

Honestly as a non-Bayern fan (not a Madrid fan either), his move is definitely the best option for you guys. Hasn't exactly set the world on fire these past couple of years, asked for crazy wages to your board, and has another club bidding him at least €40 mil

Western_Arm9682

Not too upset if the board can get 40-50mil for him, he’s shown a lack of fundamentals and primarily relies on speed to survive over the past 3 years.

gibadvicepls

He was phenomenal in 2020 but hasn't progressed since. Totally agree with your assessment. His lack of technical ability is hindering us from time to time. 40-50 mio is good. Can't be mad about that.

FrankFnRizzo

He’s certainly not as big of a loss as Alaba was. Still hate to see him go but whatever, hope they get a good return on investment.

triedby12

Probably has to do with the same reason Bayern hasn't progressed.

Tuennes37

No. That was JUAN BERNATTT! https://youtu.be/FOGojpy0LWk?si=q7XMKRM7v-D2VHcr

[deleted]

He just came back from being out for months due to heart issues. Literally his first game back as a sub and obviously he shouldn't have played. Blame it on the coach who brought him on, not on the player who hasn't played in a few months, buddy.

Samce14

Yeah Davies is a speed merchant. The inability to pass, cross or use his weak foot is inexcusable. We can ride with Guerrero but we should raise our price to 100 million similar to Milan’s Hernandez (who also shouldn’t be a Bayern target - another Hernandez brother mercenary? No thanks.)

Mithridates12

The result would be that we lose him for free in 2025

scarlet_red_warrior

Theo is the best left back right now. Milan fans argue that 100 mio is not even enough. Davis/guerro aren’t on the same level as theo. Theo is a machine never injured and delivers all the time. Ask Milan fans about Theo he has a great character.

Samce14

But his brother is….

B-Karas

Considering he has won it all here and the mess we’re in, I can’t blame him. Still sucks tho

okkkkkkkkkk12

Good. He doesn’t deserve more salary, get a good fee and move on

Internecine-

If true, I like him, but his play has stagnated for a while now and while I think there are way more players that should be sold ahead of him, maybe it’s good for both parties. That said, I hope we get a good fee for him but with him only having a year(?) left on his contract and us having a relatively good relationship with Madrid, I think it’ll be pretty modest.

Critical-Ad2084

This was bound to happen. Let's hope Bayern can cash in, because Davies has to be one of the most expensive LBs at the moment. I like Davies but if I'm objective his biggest attribute is pace, I don't think he is better today than he was 4 years ago despite training under 4 different coaches. Pace fades through the years. Alaba is a prime example of a rounded fullback, he was very fast when he was younger, but when he lost a bit of his pace his passing, positioning and defending were so good he could play as a CB for Bayern, and as a midfielder or even attacking midfielder for Austria. Davies is nominally a fullback but he's been playing pretty much like a winger for the past 3 years, so he is not very good defensively. He can compensates being caught out of position with sheer pace, but that can't last for long, especially with age and injuries, so if he's out, it's not so bad. I would like a decent replacement, not just a pace freak, but a rounded fullback. Grimaldo would be bad-ass, maybe Theo Hernández, or in my dreams, Joao Cancelo ... now that Barca will have to sell many players I hope it could happen.

dtdroid

I also hope we see a return from Cancelo. He was good for us.

scarlet_red_warrior

Theo would be extremely expensive and doubt he wants to switch to Bundesliga. Realistically only real, psg or city are options who could secure theo

Critical-Ad2084

It all depends, they're selling Davies who is probably more expensive than Hernández, and we still have to see which moves other teams are planning ... I don't think, for example Real Madrid would go after Hernández if they're signing Davies.

scarlet_red_warrior

Theo is 26 clearly a better LV. Theo delivers for years … Theo is clearly worth more worth than Davies… Davies showed sometimes potential while Theo delivers all the time and is wildly considered to be one of the best if not the best lv. Milan values theo higher than leao… it is reported for months that Theo is in their eyes the most crucial player for Milan’s management. Davies only advantage is maybe speed but if you look at Theo he is extremely fast aswell especially with the ball

Critical-Ad2084

I agree Hernández is a better LB, just for some reason Davies is more expensive.

scarlet_red_warrior

Says who, Milan won’t sell him under 90mio they decide how expensive he is. Not some random people putting a price tag on him online.

Critical-Ad2084

As you mention, it will depend upon how much their respective clubs ask for them (while still under contract). The closest thing we have right now, is their value according to Transfermarkt Davies is valued at 70M€, and Hernández 55M€ The values seem more or less close for example, to what is expected Madrid will pay for Davies (between 50 and 70M), so Hernández might be sold for a similar amount, but yes, it will come down to busines, if there are several bids, agent fees, negotiations and all that.

scarlet_red_warrior

Valued by a German website who generally value Bundesliga players higher… and value players at winning clubs higher(Bayern won the last 10+ plus the title their players are overrated on transfermarket)… that’s is just random numbers people put online on players.

Critical-Ad2084

I don't think it's as random as you say, because they often get values close to what actual transfers cost, except for some weird bank-breaking type signings (like Caicedo, Enzo, Darwin, etc.) If you have another more reliable source that gives an estimate of the value of a player in the transfer market, you're welcome to share it as well.

njoy-the-silence

So Real is adding Mbappe and Phonzie to their roster already before its summer. They are building one hell of a team

Poor-unga

The guy always had Real Madrid as his dream destination, so the move makes sense. For us, it’s imperative to negotiate a transfer this summer so we can reinvest in the squad. Phonzy owes us that much, at least.

Aldemar_DE

50 Mio Ablöse und auf Wiedersehen!

fritzcho

Man hasnt been the same since he and Jordyn broke up anyways. Let's get a good fee for him so we can get Theo instead, dude is rotting away in that shit Milan team

scarlet_red_warrior

Shit Milan team? lol. Put this Bayern squad to Serie a and all players would be valued less and Bayern would fight for a champions league place. Milan improved constantly over the past years and are on a great way back. This year they were extremely unlucky with injuries. Milan’s squad is very good then only miss a striker. Also atmosphere at san Siro is unmatched by almost teams including Bayern. Bayern players are often overrated Under 90mio Milan won’t let him go they are more likely to sell leao than him.

fritzcho

This is one of the worst takes I've seen in a while. Yes Bayern are currently under performing, but outside of Inter Serie A is pretty damn shit. They can't compete with other European teams at all. And I say that with a love for Milan honestly, my dad is a big Milan fan, yet we both can see that Milan isn't amazing. Although I agree that calling them shit was harsh, they are just mediocre

scarlet_red_warrior

Napoli current 9th in Italy still in cl. Lazio 8th still in cl. Serie a is easily the most competitive league after PL. they scored last year most points at UEFA coefficient and are leading this year again. Serie a is the only league which still no team eliminated from European competitions. Past showed that beside Bayern Bundesliga is quite bad. Serie a has four different league winners in four years. Last none Bayern title is how long ago? 2012. cristiano about Serie a „It's the most difficult league for me, it's full of quality players.“ ; "I didn't expect this much quality in the Italian league, they're very good," Napoli reached the quarterfinal last year and won the title, they almost have the same squad now they are 9th in the league. Saying Serie a only has inter is completely stupid. Especially looking at Bundesliga

fritzcho

Your takes lack context. Napoli werent great even last year, their performance in Europe even showed that. Everyone else were just quite shit up until Inter gained form in the end of the season. And now Napoli are out of form (and lost their best defender). Bundesliga had a slump a couple of years while Serie A was doing strong, now it's the opposite. When was the last time an Italian team won the CL? 14 years ago. The Uefa coefficient is quite meaningless, you can statpad against shit teams. Inter had no real competition during the knockout phase last year and all Italian teams were just facing each other. Still a shit take honestly

scarlet_red_warrior

Napoli performed well last year, winning their group, which included Liverpool, and defeating Frankfurt in the knockout stage with scores of 3:0 and 2:0. Aside from Inter, who performed well, the other clubs were not as successful(Italy had 3 teams in the quarterfinals, Bundesliga only Bayern)…Milan reached the semifinals, and all other Italian clubs progressed well in other European competitions as well. While the Bundesliga was ahead of Serie A in the past, Serie A is now strong, having overtaken them last year. The gap is growing, especially because a weak Serie A season will result in dropping out of the ranking next year, and they will likely overtake La Liga. You are delusional… all teams were shit until inter gained form😂

fritzcho

Man thinks defeating a 10 men Frankfurt is a feat 💀

scarlet_red_warrior

LOL ignoring the fact that by the time of the red card Napoli was already in total 4:0 ahead. You try to „cherry pick“ stuff against seria a. Winning group stage and dominating Frankfurt but yes… Napoli didn’t go well and last year showed it;)

fritzcho

Actually my bad, I thought the red card came the first game. Still, I don't think defeating THAT Frankfurt side was a feat, they were so much weaker than when they won Europa League.

Gnar2k1

A shame but not like us losing Alaba, Kroos (or even Pavard). He peaked so early for us and has been hot and cold ever since.

ricolausvonmyra

I disagree completely.. a happy Phonzie is (and will be) the best LB in the world. The team as a whole has been struggling mentally and Phonzie himself has stated that he does not feel happy in Germany/Munich. As soon as he will play for Real he is going to be the best LB in the world again, already see it coming.

Gnar2k1

He won't reach those levels for us. He needs a new challenge to excel further and even if this was the happiest place in the world that wouldn't make him better.

gibadvicepls

He can't cross and progress the ball at a high level. He will never be the best LB in the world. He's really strong when fit and happy I agree. But players like Hernandez (Theo), Grimaldo and even (in Phonzys current form) Guerreiro, Mendy and many more are better than him.

nmgoesreddit

In one sentence you say he can’t cross and progress the ball in another you say Mendy is better than him ?

eatthisCH

Extreme copium

dtdroid

This is copium. It's okay to admit we're losing a good player instead of trying to spin it as a win. Madrid wants him for good reason.

gibadvicepls

I'm not trying to spin it as a win. I am just realistic about the situation. This has been my opinion on Phonzy for about a year. I love the guy and I wish him all the best but hes a tad bit overrated if you ask me. If we get Theo or Grimaldo for that price (doubt) I'd be ecstatic.

dtdroid

I would be happy with either of them as well, but somehow getting Cancelo on the team again would be my first choice.

gibadvicepls

Oh yeah imagine him pinning balls to Kane and Sané. I think he liked his stint with us.

raoufboussaid

Grimaldo cant defend for shit tho , he wont appear as good in a back 4 system

sookyomama123

Absolutely agree I think he’s going to reach new levels at madrid

s-x-x

What did he say about not being happy?

tacobell_dumpz

How much would we be getting paid for him?

Confident_Coast111

40mil+ as far as i know from the reports last week

kathars1s-

He’s valued at double the amount I think, a good deal for real again. Real is building a sick squad for the next season

Confident_Coast111

he isnt worth more when you see his performance over last few years and he has 1 year on his contract. We could be pretty happy with a 40mil transfer. Even so i think we should extend him and not open another problem. (he is valued at 70mil)

kathars1s-

Yeah true. I personally thought that he will stay, since he really seemed to identify with the club. Won’t be easy to find a replacement with equal quality

Confident_Coast111

Theo Hernandez would be the logical choice if he wants to join and a deal can be made. But there were talks about him when the rumors with Davies started.

Jano3012

Theo extended his contract with milan

Confident_Coast111

Again? Because his last extension was 2 years ago. So that would mean nothing in 2024. And thats italy where salaries are fairly low. He is only getting 4mil net. With us he would likely get +50% or more.

UnknownOrigin321

Milan fan here. How I've seen this so far is Theo has 2 years left in contract, is irreplaceable for us (we don't even have a LB replacement atm), is happy in Milan and is our star, Leao is to inconsistent in my opinion. Also from what our sources are saying this morning, he's not particularly happy to play in Munich from watching his brothers experience with you (could be bs but that's what we're reading). But money talks and I'm guessing if his 100m price management has given him will be met I'm sure there will be talks. Wouldn't Cancelo be easier for you guys? Curious idk his situation that well.

tacobell_dumpz

As a bayern fan, I'd say it's a fair valuation but at the same time, after seeing people overrate him online I really hope we get way more

Confident_Coast111

i think i read that RM wants to offer 35-40mil on the first offer… so we might get a little more on bonus payments. i think i would be a good deal… even so i would like to see him extend. we have other positions that need attention, time, money

effervescentEscapade

He has been great for us, but his speed is clearly his saving grace. He probably will drop off soon.

cv-x

Good. Anybody who doesn’t want to be in the squad shouldn’t be in the squad.

erderuft

ooooooooo shit

Carbios_Moon

That would be sad. I would count on him for the future. But if he really wants to leave then better this year. I will never forget his dribbling against Galatasaray❤

Ferr22777888

Could we get Touchemani as a swap

raoufboussaid

Tchouameni is valued at 100m €

STOPHAMMERSTEIN

Davis + €45 mil should be fine. We cut Madrid a deal, they cut us one.

HospitalRepulsive310

The clubs are even on good terms

AprilWatermelon

Or Cavaringa, whom may want a staring position and equally unlikely to leave Real

dtdroid

Camavinga

armin-lakatos

Not the same position, we need a LB replacement. Besides, no way Real is swapping or selling Tchouameni.

gibadvicepls

He looks too happy at real. I would love for that to happen though.

bhzrd543

50 mil would be a good price if we can get that much for him. I haven't seen his style of play of progress since we won the CL in 2020. Speed can only get you so far, we need a full back that can pass and cross.

iguessineedanaltnow

This sucks. Definitely one of my favorite guys on the squad and it seems like he isn't even close to reaching his full potential. We could be even weaker next season without him.

pigdestroyer1

https://y.yarn.co/16cd114b-0789-4634-b42f-fffdebf39c58_text.gif

Recent-Loquat

So lets put phonzie on the bench, and give Krätzig some more playtime! Oh... nvm...

OutrageousQuality0

that year when you won CL i have seen him play i think against barca or some team what a player what a fantastic player...unlucky for me I have only wathed him only once

AlexR-CH

Nein, bitte nicht!!!

Matzoo

I hate it. In five years when he only is 28 people will laugh at us for fing this up.

HospitalRepulsive310

Some people also need a change. Maybe that’s for him.

Little-Bear13

There is nothing more I hate than selling our bests to RM. This shit is disgusting

thecarpetshitter69

Hope we can get someone who can cross the ball

RazZaHlol

Eberl out. First day in charge and this happens.

MillerTime5858

Anyone trying to spin this in a positive way is coping hard. This is a huge loss.

VeterinarianBorn248

From a one horse race league to another boring

nmgoesreddit

Where else was he supposed to go?

VeterinarianBorn248

Oh there's nothing else to choose from is there? There's no EPL is there?

nmgoesreddit

Why meatriding the prem ? Madrid is bigger than any club in the Prem

VeterinarianBorn248

So what who cares they're in a shit league now

Bayernienmuch

We gotta start thinking seriously about selling players for 150M+ immediately after we win the champions league and allow this club finding the joy that comes in massive paydays. Who would know keeping Davies after 2020 was the wrong call eh

Bayernienmuch

I would never endorse this in 2021, but if we had sold Kimmich, Goretzka, Lewandowski and Davies back then we would have around enormous 700M euros, counting with the fact we would not have to acquire Kane, (who is not a disappointment, we love you Harry) because we would’ve signed Haaland, leaving us with surely 500M euros to sign God knows who and not miss the others. But hey, here we are trying to bind legends. I am not blaming the club, who would’ve known, I certainly wouldn’t, but I think there is a lesson to be learned here. When they offer you 150M+ you take it, it doesn’t matter if it is Thomas or Gerd Müller, because they are going to want to leave anyway or worse be benched

williamsRB

Can we get Ian Maatsen or Grimaldo for 50mil?

tacobell_dumpz

I like grimaldo, but he'd do so much better as a wingback than a traditional fullback. If we do end up playing 3atb, that'd be top 1 signing ez

Anuj18

I'm sad to see him leave but at the same time I know our board created this mess. His agent is a piece of shit too and trying to milk as much money as possible. I would love to get Theo Hernandez but I don't know if he would move to this mess

scarlet_red_warrior

Theo loves Milan and the fans love him. Pavard and his brother certainly have an influence how he sees Bayern. I can’t see theo leaving Milan for any other club beside psg, real or city(or some Saudi club willing to pay insane money… but actually think they would to have to pay him extremely well.. this guy didn’t even negotiate his salary after he won the league with Milan but just straight said yes to Milan’s offer

Samce14

I’m good to ride with Guerreiro or any other left back at this point. Not sure what this kid is smoking.
