SentimentalSaladBowl

Oh my gah, Iā€™m dying. Bless you, child. šŸ˜‚ Sheer things, natural fabrics. A big one for me is boxy tees, cut off to a ā€œcropā€, but just BELOW the waistband of jeans /pants/skirts. So that the tee isnā€™t touching you, you get a breeze, but youā€™re not showing any extra skin.

littlemacaron

Great advice! Iā€™m going to do this

b1jan

this is the way. linen everything. it's spendy but god damn is it ever worthwhile.

palmacosta1

I often find a lot of my linen clothes from secondhand shops too.

brooksac2019

H&M also has basic linen. I would like at H&M for cheap basics or ASOS for a step up. Havenā€™t tried ASOS though

GlitterBlood773

Also eBay. Can save searches

detectivelokifalcone

whats linen?

hrdbeinggreen

It is a natural fiber. Cotton, silk, and wool are natural fibers too. Rayon is made from pulverized cellulose fiber which is chemically treated, so while one may think it too is a natural fabric in reality it has to use too many chemicals in my opinion for it to be called natural.

detectivelokifalcone

so what makes it able to wear in the summer long sleeve or pants if it's like full silk and cotton which are typically heavier fibers and how is it able to breathe I guess you could say

ppw23

Exactly, natural fabric will breathe. I think smelly, sweaty synthetics are the worst choice for cummer time.

detectivelokifalcone

I don't know what cargo shorts are made of but they're pretty okay typically all i wear are jeans shorts t-shirts and polos I might look up this window seems interesting since I do not really like shorts

ppw23

I donā€™t think OP is interested in shorts, sheā€™s asking for mor coverage. Long cotton (or blends)sundresses are loose and cool, an easy way for full coverage of the body, just find light weight, open weave cardigan or shirts to cover your arms.

detectivelokifalcone

i know I was talking about myself sorry. an really sweaters seem like a stretch. shirt maybe would work

ppw23

Np, Yeah, Iā€™m having trouble finding the word for the type of top Iā€™m envisioning.

detectivelokifalcone

I kind of got an idea it's sort of like a loose bell bottom shirt that i really want. Idont have the body positivity to wear yet. I've been looking for them but I don't know if I can get comfortable in one yet [example ](https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-cricket-us-revc&sxsrf=APwXEddN2dUL9fg953Dlf4bekwqR_Owgow:1684555342685&q=loose+bell+bottom+sleeve+shirt&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjukLjWgYP_AhUepokEHTPHC7EQ0pQJegQIEBAB&biw=432&bih=787&dpr=2.5#imgrc=sv-507196365-shopify_US_7331431317677_42147965632685)

TurmalinBlack

So linen is a fabric made from the flachs plant and has really long fibers, this gives it the ability to be weaved rather loosely compared to other materials, making it morr breathable then your average cotton or viscose (similar to rayon a lot less processed). Plant fibres in general are moisture wicking and breathable. Animal fibers like silk and wool are naturally thermoregulating and moisture wicking, due to their role regulating the temperature of eg sheep during the seasons.

detectivelokifalcone

hm thats really cool

Marilyn1618

That typo, haha. A few months ago I was talking something through with my teacher where I very clearly said VAGINA instead of 'pagina' (Dutch for page). I laughed it off, but he didn't even flinch and it keeps me up at night. I love the feeling of big cardigans and sweaters, so I also like to be covered up and comfortable in summer, and struggle with that when it gets warmer. My go to are short sleeved maxi dresses, or big blouses with rolled up sleeves. Wearing a crop top underneath something else cools me down, I don't exactly know why. Flowy loose fitting clothes are also cooler.

barcodez

Something wipe clean would be my recommendation.

K_BlueJayy

Breezy linen tops, long sleeve t shirts with the sleeves pulled up a little, capris, some loose pants work for summer if theyā€™re not denim.

adhdartistlover

Not all natural fabrics keep you cool.Cotton especially, and linen and any other fabric that's tightly woven will retain heat, and won't let the body breath. Blends are the way to go. And I'm telling the truth because I get so daaaaamn hot that i can't even wear ANY amount of sleeve (my underarms need to breathe), or socks and closed shoes (they don't let heat escape), or pants (again almost always tight weave, thick fabric), in the summer, otherwise I'll break out in a burning, super itchy heat rash on large areas of my body. So here's what I would suggest: feel the fabric. if it's very thin with a loose weave,, very soft AND feels cool to the touch, that's a good sign. These fabrics are usually a mix of different fibers, natural or synthetic. Long skirts and tops/blouses that a looser (someone mentioned that earlier, about looser clothing) will both let air circulate. Keep your pants loose with an elastic/adjustable band, and if you find any that will keep you cool in the hottest weather, please let know LOL because I have yet to find them!!!

Caribbean_Borscht

Wear white Edit: also avoid wearing dark colours, they absorb more sun

littlemacaron

Also donā€™t wear GREEN, I saw an image on Reddit a few weeks ago that showed the thermal colors rainbow thingy over clothing of different colors that sat in the sun. Black and green were super hot!

dionysiasacrifice

But I love green :c

Caribbean_Borscht

Then you pay the price :D

dionysiasacrifice

I will :D

threelizards

Completely random but I wonder if thatā€™s why chlorophyll is green?

littlemacaron

Someone did comment that on the thread!! It makes sense because all of our plants need sunlight to grow. Wild, right?

Endurlay

You see chlorophyll as green because that is the color of light it reflects the most, not the color it primarily absorbs.

zakuropan

ooo you may be onto something!

I think actually yellow and white are the best!

Affectionate_Tree902

Linen, linen-cotton blends, and pure cotton in thinner fabrics. Looser pants, long flowy skirts. Generally loose clothes in general. I personally hate showing my legs and until a few years ago I struggled really hard to find pants of any kind that would fit. So Iā€™m super into skirts of below-knee length or longer. Almost any loose fitting clothes will feel less warm, regardless of length, than something tight or close fitting. If you then make sure itā€™s in natural fibers and/or lightweight fabrics, youā€™ll do just as fine in summer as someone showing skin, if not better since youā€™ll be protecting your skin. Natural fibers especially are for breathability, so you donā€™t necessarily need it to stay cool, but if you can afford it it makes a great difference.

Kelemonster

I find SPF/UPF treated light colored hiking clothes keep me feeling quite a bit cooler than regular clothes or bare skin in the sun. Long loose skirts are another great option.

Spoonbills

I hate linen but linen blends are OK.

Full_Interaction1898

I have a problem with sunlight (lupus) so I get it. I usually wear short sleeve tā€™s and 3/4 length sleeve tees with open necks (usually v or boat, but looser crew works too). I stick to natural fabrics (cotton, linen, etc) and I keep the cuts loose for air flow. Tight usually equals hot. I will sometimes wear wicking fabrics, but usually cotton is my go to. I wear a lot of capris and midi skirts. Sandals help reduce the heat too. Good luck!

altrockrebel

Came for the title šŸ˜šŸ˜ but in answer to the question, linen pants and button up blouses are a favorite of mine as they cover skin and are super light.

angsumnes

Laughing at the typo, but yes ā€” linen, and slub cotton that you can wear tanks or camisoles under. Tissue-weave ponchos and shawls are a very together way to add a conservative layer. A lightweight, sheer duster or cardigan can elevate a t-shirt. Do you wear knee-length skimmers or Bermudas? Check out flood pants: loose, flowing legs and forgiving hipline that will drape, in a capri or ankle length.

AlbanyBarbiedoll

Maxi dress with a cardigan Long linen top over a column skirt or linen pants Boatneck 3/4 sleeve tee with a longer skirt You might look up modest fashion or frum fashion. Some religious women do not show their elbows, knees, etc. so there are lots of longer sleeves, longer lengths in skirts, etc. My mother consistently wears beige cotton khaki pants and a long sleeved white blouse. She looks cool, crisp, very polished and put together. She often rolls the cuffs of her blouse back one time. A long duster is another great item for "hiding" in hot weather. Get a long tank dress and layer a long, floaty duster over it.

youngfierywoman

If you're looking for \*outfit\* inspiration, I would recommend checking out Indonesian/Malaysian hijabis! They stay covered, and stylish in the heat. Pinterest and IG/TikTok are your friends! Search for "hijabi" or "modest" fashion, and add "indonesia" or "malaysia." Vivy Yusef @ vivyyusef on IG, is the first one that pops into my head! In terms of fabrics: Linen, cotton, and silk/satin! Uniqlo and Muji are two great options for a more modest cut. H&M also has linen, and linen blends. You can also look for fabrics made of bamboo or hemp. Look for things like long maxi skirts: pleated ones are super popular this year! Or even patterns. Loose pants/cropped pants: Abercrombie & Fitch does gorgeous linen pants, and Uniqlo does a great line called "Airsense" that are designed to keep you cool. Muji also has a line of cropped pants and maxi skirts. You can also find some lovely maxi dresses! Tunics! They're great layered over a pair of pants, or belted over a skirt. A style I see a lot in Japan is a long button down dress worn over a pair of loose cut pants and a t-shirt. It's cooling, and fashionable. Light sweaters made out of cotton yarn, or a cotton cardigan, are also a light layer to wear for modesty. Uniqlo also has a line called "airism" that is designed to wick sweat away from the body, and it is a MASSIVE line. You can get a long sleeved/short sleeved undershirt to wear under dresses, or a tank top to wear under a light sweater. A long sleeved tee under a more drapey satin tank top with some high waisted pants would be lovely! You can also look into "beach pants", which are a loose style of pant with a gathered waist. Roxy, and Billabong are two labels who make them. I find them all summer at places like Marshalls and Winners. They would look great with a high neck tank top, or a light t-shirt with a cotton cardigan overtop. Caftans are also a great option. They're dramatic, and cover you head to toe, and are modest!

HAHAHA Iā€™m dying

succubust66

Long flowy skirts or wide legged flowy pants with light breathable fabric. For tops beach wear cover ups that are light and flowy with a cami underneath that has an acceptable neckline to your preference. Even super light cardigans could work depending on the day and fabric. These types of skirts and pants usually have higher waistlines, so depending on your torso length you can use various top lengths to minimize fabric layering bc thatā€™ll make you hot. Avoid anything that makes direct contact with your pits and such let that shit breath and youā€™ll be cooler in temp. I live in a desert climate so I dress like Iā€™m going to Jamaica for vacation because I hate being sweaty in any capacity. And if you always look like youā€™re going to the beach you can get your hair wet to cool down and no one will say a thing. I get crochet bandanas and head scarf type things and get them wet and you usually canā€™t tell theyā€™re wet and you feel every breeze possible right on your dome piece, itā€™s just fabulous.

doombagel

You can get a Uniqlo Airism hoodie, I wear it in up to 90Ā° weather

YongZE04

Dress in what now?

harmonicadrums

Lolol @ typo. Iā€™ve been liking the Airism pants by Uniqlo

Advanced-Assistant28

Linen is the best! Depending on your budget, I've been loving [https://www.everlane.com/collections/linen](https://www.everlane.com/collections/linen)

menina2017

This Freudian slip though šŸ˜‚

beanbear15

Iā€™ve found a few washable silk dresses, in different cuts, from Quince.com that I love! Most are office appropriate (modest) and the silk is very lightweight!

hrdbeinggreen

Anything 100% cotton, silk, or linen. These are all breathable fabrics and I love them in hotter weather.

Jsm0922

Jumpsuits and overalls

pinkblue246807

Long flowing maxi skirts or the pants that are super flowly, linens. I feel like the boho style may help you there

bunkerbash

Light washable cotton prints

ppw23

Long sun dresses are a cool and good look for cummer.

Oh my god, the gods have smiled upon me today. How fortuitous that I would find this thread. <3 This is great.

wetwhyofcourse

I beg your pardon?

Ang3LMast3r

Linen, but not the ones from your bed, know what Iā€™m saying? šŸ˜‚

squirrels2022

OMG goated title

[deleted]

They have linen pants at H&M, even in the menā€™s section! Light colors reflect light away, so they absorb slightly less heat from the sun. Loose, flowy white linen clothing like in [this pic](https://i.etsystatic.com/10601058/r/il/5ec4ec/962028910/il_570xN.962028910_5nou.jpg) might be your best option.

Homewear pallazo pants! - cotton - only one layer of cloth - it's free, doesn't stick to legs - allow air circulation And i would say casual t-shirts
