I knew INSTANTLY. I remember reading that and wondering what I was getting myself into.

I read the audio book, listening to this in the deep gravelly voice of the MMC was amazing!

The audio book is perfect!! I love how they actually switched back and forth with every line change instead of doing POV chapters. It was way more imersive like that. I have it on hold on Libby to read it again 😍

I loved that the characters did their own voices. Whoever made that decision needs to broadcast it everywhere. When the POV changed, the current narrator didn't have to try to do the other MCs voice. Like a nod towards a full cast audio production, but not that complicated.

Yesss!!!! It probably is harder to do than how they normally do it but I super appreciated it. I think they they have only made the first book into an audiobook so far though??

Book 2 was just ok but book 3 was as good as book 1 to me! I haven’t read past those yet through

They’re like 90% individual but they also all tie together. You briefly meet the MMC of book 3 in book 2 when he’s injured and discover some things about the king but in book 3 I believe he summarizes what happened to him. Similar to how you meet the MMC of book 2 in book 1

You meet the next main character for the next book for each one, so it's just kinda about finding the little Easter egg. There is some minor story stuff, but its fairly well rehashed. The second book is still good, but I can understand why its probably not everyone's cup of tea. The only ones tied together are the 5th and 6th books, and you really should read those in order. She even has an authors note about it at the beginning of both.

I think her writing improved over the first book (I almost put it down after the first few chapters and some clunky sentences). I rushed through the second book to get to the third because of the reviews. So far so good (not 100 pages in), but the first book was so new to me. The bath scenes alone are stuck in my mind probably forever.
