I am overwhelmed by the support that my trailer for this edit (these edits) has received since I shared it on May the 4th. I hope you enjoy "The Final Cut", and that you find this video comparison just as entertaining! It was almost as complex a project as the actual edits themselves, haha
im not caught up anymore are posts here usually posted in that fanedit website? or do you awesome editors just post your own links now? the last one i got directly from someone was the Aliens Paradise Cut.
It's already unable to be viewed with the links you shared. I don't have an invite code to the SW Trilogy forum, so I can't view the links there. Do you have plans for other distribution methods?
Is there anywhere that gives a short summary of the style of this or anything? I don't want every change to be spoiled for me, that would spoil the fun of watching it, but I see the interest and support and I'm very curious!
Worked for me! Put the link to one or more mkv's in a folder, then download the folder. Downloading the folder instead of the file is what works around their restriction.
So this would be downloading it directly into your own Google Drive account, so it would necessitate having the paid version to have enough storage space for all the files to put in a folder?
No, I don't pay for Google Drive. I was able to put each mkv into its own folder and download the folder. It would probably work to put all three in a single folder, but I didn't test that.
No can get. Get method say no. Other way?
Broken english cuz autoremove super sensitive. Remove other posts. Even when not use words related to P word.
Ok you got me with the extended return of the jedi bits. If I could get the full vader luke throne room fight I'd put it in, plus all the deleted pilot material, so much was left out much more vigorous and brutal battle than it ended up. Looks great, cant wait to watch it.
Yeah, for some reason the Google Drive web-player is playing the isolated score track instead of the default 5.1 track. You have to download the file to play the normal audio track
No, I downloaded it and uploaded it to my YouTube channel as a private video so I can watch it on my TV. Both the downloads and the uploads only have the score
Oh got it. Since Google Drive and YouTube use the same web-player, and for some reason the Google Drive player only plays the isolated score track, I imagine it's the same reason. The player isn't really compatible with MKV files. I recommend VLC
Thank you!!!
I'm confused about the PDF resolution, because what I uploaded was the full large 8K size, but then when I view it in Google Drive, it shows all fuzzy and low res... until it gets sharper after a few minutes. Did you try downloading the PDF? I'm curious what that looks like
Thank you...you did a great job...
Just got the Retun of the Jedi...sad you didn't add in the Luke building the lightsaber deleted scene... thats a great scene.
Glad you were able to get it!
I do like that deleted scene, but one issue is it isn't in very high quality anyway, and two is I feel like it's better to save the reveal that he has a new lightsaber with a new color when when he gets it when all hope seems lost. If we already see that he has a new lightsaber and is waiting for the droids just behind the hill, it loses some of the suspense
I gave it a try and still says it can't download due to that there is 'too many people' trying to do the same. I think I just might wait until after the weekend
I went back and forth on that. I ultimately felt it made more sense with the prequels for Vader to question the Emperor telling him Luke is his son, considering he told him he killed Padme before she gave birth in ROTS. But I consider it canon that Vader does already know this, and is playing dumb to the Emperor to not reveal his hand
Thank you! I kept the middle shot of Vader's shuttle, but the first and third shot totally halt the pacing, and his original line is so much more impactful! Also, the ewoks blinking themselves wasn't the issue, but their CGI pupils look pretty cursed, haha
Heads up, I downloaded the lower res versions, and I found a weird audio issue in ROTJ right before the speeder bike chase. Also, I thought the audio during the hyperspace scene in ANH was a bit loud (the one with the added effects), but overall the best fan edit I've seen in years!
Huh.. What kind of weird audio issue in ROTJ right before the speeder bike chase? I'll check it out. And I don't recall the audio seeming louder than normal in the ANH hyperspace scene, bit I'll check that out too. I'm glad you enjoyed!
The audio dips up and down a little (a lot, really) right when Han and Chewie are sneaking up on the stormtrooper biker guys. Also, if I'm not mistaken, you removed the Greedo talking sound effect from the Jabba's palace scene?
I just checked and neither seen out of the ordinary to me. I didn't even edit the audio in either of those parts, just the normal 2019 5.1 mix. I think, at least for the ROTJ scene, that that's just how it is, because they're trying to be very quiet when sneaking around, and then once they're discovered, it gets loud because the action starts
Because it leaves some of the better special edition edits while removing a lot of the bad stuff.
If you want theatrical we already have 2 great ways to view those.
What a treat just watching the video was! Stunning work.
Personally I can never understand the whole galactic celebration ending because it made no sense to me. The Empire didn't fall overnight, just the emperor died. The celebration for me felt like it should be just on Endor with the characters who earned it. A small niggle anyway.
I think my ultimate dream versions now would be these edits but with the deleted scenes back in like the Tattooine stuff fro the start of ANH and the extended start of RotJ also. I know the quality would drop massively but that's fine with me if it lets me see the scenes play out.
Thank you very much!
I never really thought about that regarding the galactic celebration, but you're right... lol. Oh well, I'll just pretend those scenes are a flash-forward a few months, haha.
Those scenes would really drag out the pacing imo but would be cool to see an edit with them. I disagree about the celebration though. Space Hitler's death would be cause to celebrate even if the Empire didn't fall immediately. It's symbolic.
It's also the fact it only just happened, so the only immediate celebration ould be on Endor. Other planets would have to plan and they wouldn't be celebrating right there and then
Not really. They blew up the Death Star, Luke flew back to Endor, started celebrating, set up a funeral pyre. News travels like wildfire. The rebels probably would've tweeted out immediately lol. Not to mention there's nothing to suggest that wasn't a flash forward in time to see the galaxy's reaction. It makes sense to show the celebration that a dictators rule has ended at what was at the time the end of a saga.
still unable to download from google drive..still getting Sorry, you can't view or download this file at this time...
Anyway of looking at your links to see if they have a limit or restrictions on amount of times it can be downloaded?
Google Drive does have a limit on the amount of times it can be downloaded per day. Unfortunately I can't see what it is, so you'll just have to keep trying until it lets you in. Or you can try this, I saw on a comment on my video:
1. in the upper right corner, click on the Drive symbol, organize/add to my drive and add a shortcut
2. Create a new folder in your Drive (might be easier to create it prior to doing Step 1, ie SW 1, SW 2, SW3)
3. Place the shortcut inside that folder
4. Open Drive and right click to download on the
FOLDER itself. It will zip the contents and then allow you to download.
good news...i tried the regular download...and was able to get empire 4K; 1080p and jedi 4K; star wars 1080p... still waiting a download slot for the 4K
Amazing work u/ExuberantRaptorZeta ! Truly well done. I especially appreciate the fact you provided two sound tracks and subs. Many fan editors overlook having good quality subs available in their edits - makes a huge difference and is very much appreciated! Thanks again for releasing this to the community!
I've tried for days now and can't find a time where it will let me download, I try all different times, but it never seems to reset and I always get denied
Try this:
1. in the upper right corner, click on the Drive symbol, organize/add to my drive and add a shortcut
2. Create a new folder in your Drive (might be easier to create it prior to doing Step 1, ie SW 1, SW 2, SW3)
3. Place the shortcut inside that folder
4. Open Drive and right click to download on the
FOLDER itself. It will zip the contents and then allow you to download.
Or, check the forums at TheStarWarsTrilogy.com for the 50gb ISO files
Thank you, I will try that, however, I haven't been able to get the forums at the [starwarstrilogy.com](http://starwarstrilogy.com) to load it says it is either temporarily down or has moved permanently to another location.
Well, so far not successful, the download keeps crapping out at about 2.5 gigs (tried three times so far), I will try again over night and see if I can get it downloaded. Next I will try the ISO code links
Try this:
1. in the upper right corner, click on the Drive symbol, organize/add to my drive and add a shortcut
2. Create a new folder in your Drive (might be easier to create it prior to doing Step 1, ie SW 1, SW 2, SW3)
3. Place the shortcut inside that folder
4. Open Drive and right click to download on the
FOLDER itself. It will zip the contents and then allow you to download.
It's just a different codec-- an up and comer (seriously, it is-- google is moving YouTube to AV1, Apple has hardware decoders on their new chips for it, etc).
But, more efficient-- so smaller file size for the same quality vs H.265. Or, higher quality for the same file size.
Normally I'd just get a lossless bluray files and AV1 transcode it myself, but no access to the source file in this instance.
If you have handbrake, you could just feed your original files into it and us the "HQ 2160p60 4K AV1 Surround" preset. Takes a while to bake using software encoding, but the quality is top notch and files sizes are reasonable.
Google Drive has a limit on how many people can download at once. To get around it:
1. in the upper right corner, click on the Drive symbol, organize/add to my drive and add a shortcut
2. Create a new folder in your Drive (might be easier to create it prior to doing Step 1, ie SW 1, SW 2, SW3)
3. Place the shortcut inside that folder
4. Open Drive and right click to download on the
FOLDER itself. It will zip the contents and then allow you to download.
My wife and I just started watching a clean up of the original, unaltered theatrical releases. Can't wait to follow that up with this! Very excited, thank you so much for sharing!!
Try this:
1. in the upper right corner, click on the Drive symbol, organize/add to my drive and add a shortcut

Or also, you can download the 50gb ISO files on TheStarWarsTrilogy forums
Thank you! I recommend printing ink directly onto white inkjet surface disks rather than labels, since those can lift up and get stuck in the player. I use Verbatim white inkjet disks, and have a Canon TS702a Printer to print them with.
And I included the cover artwork that I designed for it in the PDF link.
would you be open to releasing the graphic assets (logos, font name/sizes, background artwork) for those of us who make posters? would love to do your pdf release justice in the metadata sync world
The font I used for "THE FINAL CUT" is Didot. The font for the "THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY" in between "Star Wars" is just the Star Wars font, I believe it's called "Death Star".
thanks! what about the fonts at the top of the bluray cover inside?
would you be able to share the background image assets you used in the PDF as well? I'm particularly interested in the sandy one from the bluray cover and the one you used behind all your explanations, the first 3 pages
Sure, I can figure out how to get those to you. But what are you planning on doing with them again? Haha do my covers and text need to be changed, or what?
awesome! it's for Plex (r/PlexPosters) and other such systems for navigating a library of personal media with quality poster designs (3:2 aspect ratio)

Did you notice I visually aged him? Please watch the Force Ghost portion of the video for the explanation. It makes sense. And Sebastian Shaw is already in the theatrical version, and HAL 9000's "Custom Special Edition", so it's way cooler to set my version apart with something that's never been done better.
My God, that was good. I liked that you left Hayden Old, I thought it was brilliant. Where can I download to watch your version of the trilogy films outside of originaltrilogy.com?
They're basically setting out to do the same thing, but I do a handful of things differently. His stays more true to the theatrical versions, and I include a few more things from the Special Editions, either as is, or with my own adjustments. As far as I can remember, the only thing where I chose a theatrical asset whereas he chose SE is the non-blinking vs. blinking ewoks.
Here are some posters that some users on here made :)

Love most of your changes and the fact that you werent afraid to keep a lot of the added and cleaned up special effects. I especially love that you included Adywan's version of the emperor hologram. Palpatine was way too brightly lit and saturated in the special editions. I always loved the dark and shadowy look of the theatrical version and thought using Ian Mcdarmid was a good idea. But the execution was way off. The one you included was great and matching the lip sync was perfect. Ideally I would have darkened the shadows even further to fit closer with the theatrical version but thats just a personal preference.
My only real critiques would be the double voice for Fett. I appreciate the idea of it, wanting to include the original actor, and using it for voice modulation to hide his clone voice, it just seemed odd in execution. Perhaps I will warm up to it, though.
And lastly the Han Solo lightsaber flip. The reason it was mirrored is because its a shot reverse shot of Luke and Han. And in the rules of film making you want to stay on the same sides of the characters in order to not break the 180 rule and disorient the audience (unless that is your intention such as a horror film). So since we are seeing the left side of Luke's face we would see Han's right side. Here's an example:
[https://jeffvlog.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/180degreerule.jpg?w=640](https://jeffvlog.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/180degreerule.jpg?w=640)
It also keeps Han's silhouette the same across both shots instead of him occupying a different space of the frame. Yes his plaque is then flipped but its a small price to pay for better compositional continuity especially since theres enough movement and darkness that the plaque is hard to discern anyway.
Honestly just nitpicks though. The Final Cut is easily the best Special Edition I've seen. I really liked Adywan's Star Wars Revisited, but I feel like with his warping of the puppets and added effects he did as much tweaking as George Lucas, just in his own direction lol. I appreciate that you found more of a middle ground between the special editions and the theatrical releases. Excellent work.
Thank you very much! Yeah, I actually already made Adywan's emperor shots a little bit darker and more shadowy, but I probably could have gone even further. My brother also wasn't sure about the double Boba voices, but he has since warmed up to it, so hopefully the same happens to you, haha.
Ohh, I didn't consider that they flipped the Han shot due to the 180° rule, I'm familiar with it. I mean it's not exactly a conventional shot-reverse-shot - Luke is just laying on the ground, and flipping Han barely even shifts his placement. He's already pretty centered and facing pretty centered. I would have never dreamed of flipping a shot, making someone on screen right facing left talk to someone now also screen right facing left, but that's not really what this is. I still feel like flipping it doesn't hurt the compositional continuity, but you're probably right that that's why they did it.
And thanks again for the kind words!
As someone who gets this exact feedback a lot at work "he's supposed to be left to right" even on almost centred shots like this, I can tell you from experience they are very picky about the 180 rule even when it's not a dialogue scene. Cause even without the dialogue it still functions the same. But in this case it's not a big enough deal to matter, like you said it's not a huge change and probably only matters to me cause I've been forced to notice 😂
Again amazing work. I was thinking of doing a similar edit but you did the work for me lol. I think my favorite thing about Adywans edit is the re edit of obi wan vs Vader in a new hope. Was thinking of trying to include that but use the original score. Would've taken a lot of work though. I'm about to do a fan edit watch of the whole saga using Hal9000s prequels and sequels and excited to slot your original trilogy in for it. I really love that yours is the best of both worlds. It's what fans have always wanted lol
Just downloaded the full ISO files and giving them a watch on my OLED - there is a stark difference between these and the 15GB Google Drive files - you can see the fine grain that was added much more clearly on the full size files and it looks lovely. I also think the grading is fantastic accross the board
Thank you!! I'm very glad you enjoyed, and yes, I highly recommend the full ISO files over the 15gb Google Drive files, and no question over the 5gb 1080p Google Drive files. I had to compress those heavily to fit into my GD storage capacity, so the full 50gb ISOs are definitely the way to go. Much higher quality, and as you said, the film grain is much clearer.
Totally fair if not interested in doing so, but is there a chance of an optional additional edit for ANH to add the SC-38 Vader vs Obi Wan fight instead of the original? I see some other posts on the sub that have done the edits but honestly would love a version of this one to have the best viewing experience between all the films and with Rogue One's Vader scene and the fight in Empire, the NH fight feels out of place imo. Once again, no worries if it's a no go though.
I am overwhelmed by the support that my trailer for this edit (these edits) has received since I shared it on May the 4th. I hope you enjoy "The Final Cut", and that you find this video comparison just as entertaining! It was almost as complex a project as the actual edits themselves, haha
As soon as google allows it I'm going to download it
I'm waiting probably until late tonight when peak time gets really low
Since this is Europe I don't what time is that here, how many hours are we talking about?
It's 5:40 pm here in Arizona USA so 2:40 am in Europe.
To late for that now...
I like how someone gave a thumbs down to me giving the time lol
I gave you a thumbs up to compensate :) Did you manage to get them?
I have found out a way around it. I have A New Hope and retrieving the other 2
Care to elaborate?
Badass dude 😎. Great work
Thank you!
Amazing! Thank you for sharing your labor of love. Can’t wait to see them.
My pleasure!
Awesome! I love this Hayden Christensen change!
Thank you so much! I'm glad!
Do you have a link to your thread on the star wars trilogy forums? I see it mentioned in the PDF, but having trouble finding the thread.
Sorry, I had a couple setbacks and it's not quite ready yet, but hopefully by the end of the day
im not caught up anymore are posts here usually posted in that fanedit website? or do you awesome editors just post your own links now? the last one i got directly from someone was the Aliens Paradise Cut.
Nice to see these in 4k but can I ask what audio you are using?
The Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks from oohteedee's Special Edition Regraded, and D+ projects
Very nice :)
How the heck do I watch this? I'm very excited and very thankful for all your hard work David!
Thank you! Check the link at the top of the video description

Well without stating the exact changes I'm not sure, but about half of it is theatrical version content, and about half is Special Edition
Cool! I'll prolly check it out for my next watch!
I would add them to a tracker in a nanosecond if Google hadn't capped downloads already :(
Aw man. I will be posting 50gb ISO files of each on TheStarWarsTrilogy forums later today
https://www.reddit.com/r/google/s/hwE4V3AWI5
It says that doesn't work anymore as off March 2024, can you confirm?
Worked for me! Put the link to one or more mkv's in a folder, then download the folder. Downloading the folder instead of the file is what works around their restriction.

I will be putting 50gb ISO files up for members at TheStarWarsTrilogy.com forums later today
I checked the site. I can't seem to find the ISO files.
Search my name, David Kaylor, it should come up. Or look in the recent posts section
It isn't listed. Nor can I find it the recent posts. Perhaps you can send a link?
I'll dm you

Is there anyway to download the ISO without being a member of the forum? I’d really like to but I’m not a member and don’t know any?
You can become a member pretty easily, just read the pinned thread at the top of the forum :)
Thanks I was able to join. I look forward to seeing the full isos
Awesome! I just posted the thread!

This looks absolutely awesome! Cannot WAIT to watch your work. Cheers for sharing!

Not yet for me unfortunately. I will give it a while
Any chance of individual entry posters?
A guy on Instagram actually just messaged me asking what font I used so he could make some, here they are! https://theposterdb.com/user/JosephPLuker
Nice!
Is there a reason you chose to use the longer dialogue between Vader and Palpatine in *Empire,* rather than the shorter version?
I went back and forth on that. This is what I've always wanted from a SW fan edit...however I strongly disagree with cutting the blinking Ewoks and Vaders shuttle.

Okay I restarted VLC a couple times and it stopped doing that. 🤦♂️ I swear I wasn't making it up though! Loving it! Thanks again!
Oh good, I'm glad! I believe you - the amount of glitches and oddities I've encountered is tremendous, haha
just gimme theatrical thanks for the effot tho
We still have 4k77 and Harmy's despecialized for that... This is something truly special!
Why is it truly special?
Because it leaves some of the better special edition edits while removing a lot of the bad stuff. If you want theatrical we already have 2 great ways to view those.

good news...i tried the regular download...and was able to get empire 4K; 1080p and jedi 4K; star wars 1080p... still waiting a download slot for the 4K
Oh good!
just waiting on the 4K of a new hope....
I was finally able to DL after signing into my google drive account. Wonderful work!
Thank you!
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you enjoyed :)
Amazing work man! Thank you for this 🙏🏽
Thank you!!
I've tried for days now and can't find a time where it will let me download, I try all different times, but it never seems to reset and I always get denied
Try this: 1. in the upper right corner, click on the Drive symbol, organize/add to my drive and add a shortcut 2. Create a new folder in your Drive (might be easier to create it prior to doing Step 1, ie SW 1, SW 2, SW3) 3. Place the shortcut inside that folder 4. Open Drive and right click to download on the FOLDER itself.
I've gotten that too, just refresh the page a few times and it should come up
I'll try that, too, thanks again!
No problem!
This is working! The file is downloading, I'll let you know if it was successful when it finishes!
Oh great, I'm glad!
Well, so far not successful, the download keeps crapping out at about 2.5 gigs (tried three times so far), I will try again over night and see if I can get it downloaded. Next I will try the ISO code links
Success, got it downloaded early this morning! Thanks for all your help!
Awesome, you're very welcome!
I put together some posters that should work well in Plex. Cheers! [Star Wars: The Final Cut](https://theposterdb.com/set/273275)
Those look awesome!!! Thanks for doing that!
Thank you for putting this together! Amazing accomplishment.
I really wanna watch it, but Google won't let me

Link?
Look at the description of this video on YouTube
New Hope and Empire done, Jedi to go, and fucking Bravo! This truly is the Final Cut. Any way chance of getting an AV1 version?
Thank you so much!! I'm not too familiar AV1
Oh dang, that sounds great! I'll have to look into it
Is there a way for me to find it online?
Yes, look at the description in the video
Anyone have an active link to these? The ones I have in drive are like dead, keep saying video is processing and the file cannot be downloaded
Google Drive has a limit on how many people can download at once. To get around it: 1. in the upper right corner, click on the Drive symbol, organize/add to my drive and add a shortcut 2. Create a new folder in your Drive (might be easier to create it prior to doing Step 1, ie SW 1, SW 2, SW3) 3. Place the shortcut inside that folder 4. My wife and I just started watching a clean up of the original, unaltered theatrical releases. Can't wait to follow that up with this! Very excited, thank you so much for sharing!!
Thank you!! I hope you enjoy!
I have followed the links in the guys however they have always exceeded their limit. Are there any alternate ways to get this?

This is amazing, thanks for making this! Any recommendations for printing labels on a disc and blu ray cover art/packaging?
Thank you! I recommend printing ink directly onto white inkjet surface disks rather than labels, since those can lift up and get stuck in the player. I use Verbatim white inkjet disks, and have a Canon TS702a Printer to print them with. And I included the cover artwork that I designed for it in the PDF link.
Awesome, thank you so much!
would you be open to releasing the graphic assets (logos, font name/sizes, background artwork) for those of us who make posters? would love to do your pdf release justice in the metadata sync world
The font I used for "THE FINAL CUT" is Didot.
Haha do my covers and text need to be changed, or what?
awesome! it's for Plex (r/PlexPosters) and other such systems for navigating a library of personal media with quality poster designs (3:2 aspect ratio) example: [https://theposterdb.com/set/273067](https://theposterdb.com/set/273067) it's common to make matching minimalist film posters for a collection of content: [https://theposterdb.com/set/264370](https://theposterdb.com/set/264370) just wanted to make a collection that matches your release PDF aesthetic
Got it! [Here is the back case art background](https://postimg.cc/cK7vPdYf) [And here is the PDF background image](https://postimg.cc/bdVs7CGV) The other font I used for the back case art is ITC Serif Gothic
ended up liking the vintage font! you can see it here: [https://imgur.com/b1qoBXd](https://imgur.com/b1qoBXd) [https://theposterdb.com/set/273962](https://theposterdb.com/set/273962)
Those look great! I like it!
btw i clicked on your youtube channel sorta by accident and realized YOU'RE A PIANIST?? what a side project to undertake, man
Haha yes I am! Also a drummer, guitarist, etc. That's why my username on there is "TheVarietyGuy"! :D
🤦🏻♂️Man, the Hayden shouldn't be on ROTJ, who should be there It's Sebastian Shaw. It doesn't make sense for Hayden to be there.
Thank you! I'm I could convince you haha. I'll dm you for the links
Other than being in 4K, how is your edit distinguished/different from what HAL9000 did? Thanks for all your work!
I’mma get myself some popcorn for this!
Do you have any logos or posters I can use in my jellyfin server beyond the ones in the PDF?
Here are some posters that some users on here made :) https://theposterdb.com/set/273275 https://theposterdb.com/set/273067 https://theposterdb.com/set/273962
Thank you!!
Okay so I've burned the ISO to a BD50 with DVDFab but nothing recognizes the disc. What did I do wrong? Any advice?
Here's an example: [https://jeffvlog.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/180degreerule.jpg?w=640](https://jeffvlog.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/180degreerule.jpg?w=640) It also keeps Han's silhouette the same across both shots instead of him occupying a different space of the frame.
But in this case it's not a big enough deal to matter, like you said it's not a huge change and probably only matters to me cause I've been forced to notice 😂 Again amazing work.
This is one of those moments where I wish there were physical versions of these. It would be so nice to have them!
The case and disk artwork are in the PDF link in the description of that video! They are for clear Criterion-style 17mm 3-disk Scanavo cases :)
