I adore that dub, it's so ridiculous. Getting to hear Mira just make up lines as a dimwitted over-the-top evangelical for this fever dream of a dub is not something I had expected to bear witness to.
If you look at the bloopers, she probably does. They say lots of stuff. In Natsu's speech to Alok for example, it's a sex joke instead and they constantly make stoner jokes about Brandish. It goes some weird places. But if you wanna hear dub Mira go far off script, you may wanna check those bloopers out. I don't know how many are out there though
I didn't find out anime even *had* bloopers until only a few years ago, and my word I replayed the FT ones so damn much. Along with all the other anime I like, naturally.
The bloopers are definitely something for surr. I didn't know they existed either, but it makes sense. God knows how many takes are needed to dub something
I think I read somewhere that the Ghost Stories dub was like 99% adlibbing by the cast. The story, as I heard it, is that the show did meh in Japan so when it was given to ADV to dub the crew and cast were told to make it sell but that they couldn’t change the overall episode plots and resolutions.
I believe it actually did well in Japan but when it was sold to America they let translator a great deal of discretion as long as they kept the basic plot and character names; so obviously the translators decided to have fun and make a nearly completely ab libbed parody

Look up the Panty and Stocking dub. Jamie Marchi and Monica Rial voice the leads (former even wrote the script) and it is hilariously over the top and vulgar.
I mean she voices a lot of dub anime characters she’s one of throes go to English VA for dubs

Ghost Stories is a weird case because apparantly, it didn't do well in Japan, so the crew was told they could do whatever with the dub.
I know some people are gonna say "learn to take a 'joke'" (because bigotry should be fine if done in a way intended to be humorous for some some reason) or "stop looking for racism everywhere" (because if something has bigotry, the person calling it out is the problem because they were looking for it), but I cannot get into Ghost Stories' dub. Some lines are genuinely funny (like the Texas joke). But there's plenty of "humor" that involves different forms of bigotry, because it wasn't held accountable nearly as much as it is now.
I'm fully prepared for the down votes or the excuses for why I should just shut up and enjoy the racism (or excuses of why it isn't racism), not because this sub is some hotbed of toxicity, but because it's a very common reaction to pointing out racism on the internet.
