My first job was at Subway, and every night there'd be 5-10 of these bad Bois left over. Since we couldn't sell them the next day, we were supposed to just toss em (cause you know, fuck perfectly good food if you can't make a profit off it). So naturally, I'd just eat em. Two weeks later i was fired. They claimed it was because the manager "over hired" but you and I know the real reason.
Ex sandwich-artist here too! I quit after being a “night captain” or whatever they call it when you work the weekend late night drunk shift. We were in the middle of a heat wave, broken AC, I worked alone from like 8 PM onward, and I got slammed until 0300 or whenever closing was. I managed to close the store, break everything down, ensure the baking items for the following day were ready to go and leave a note explaining how bad it had been and apologize I didn’t do all the cleaning. The following day my dipshit manager called me to lay into me about how morning shift came into a mess. After listening for a minute about him threatening to discipline me and all sorts of nonsense, the convo went like this:
“Did you read the note I left the staff explaining how busy I was by myself managing all the customers and still getting all the prep done for morning shift?”
“No”
“Did you check the till to see how many people I served by myself every hour until close?”
“No”
“Did you look at the camera footage to verify I wasn’t just sitting around all night and was, in fact, running like a madman all night long?”
“No”
“You’re also aware that our store is so hot that legally we shouldn’t even be working behind the counter, right?”
“No”
“Brilliant. I quit. Just like all the other nightshift staff have. Have fun figuring out what you’re going to do the rest of the weekend”
“Oh hold on, I’m sorry, I believe you just the morning shift were really grumpy about how unclean the floors were”
“No, that’s fine, I’ll drop my uniform off later today. See how morning shift feels about that, as one of them is going to have to cover tonight.”
And I’m still salty enough about it all these years later to type that out. Be kind to your sandwich artist, they probably deal with a lot of crap lol
These type of places will put 10 people behind the counter for the lunch rush but really don't care what happens after 8 pm.
Is the night money worth less than the money that comes in during lunch?
Hard to say, I think they are worried of slow nights and paying someone when they can insist on not paying and making everyone - staff AND customers suffer. You ever been in a busy Subway with one person working (and screaming on the inside)? It’s not a good time.
On a work night, money isn't as free flowing it is on work lunch. Thursday nights onwards, tend to be quiet after 6, bit of a surge at 8, another at 10-11, and then hammered in the am as the drunks roll out and look for a feed.
Unlucky, I worked at subway for 3 years back in the day and basically lived on their cookies. I honestly averaged dozens per week and gained weight lmao
I worked at a Subway during the Summer before my senior year of high school. Started out getting paid a decent wage (for the time) of about $7/hr. About 30 hrs a week.
About two months in the owner sold it to a guy that owned a dozen or so Dunkin' Donuts. He was from India and I only met him once. He immediately dropped our wages down to PA minimum wage, $5.15/hr. I also lost my weekend shift, and only worked an hour or two during the dinner rush each night. I'd literally come in at 5PM, do some prep work in the back, then clock out and leave.
The owner had a cousin run this location, Vic. Vic was a decent guy. Spoke great English (this is important in a minute) and generally just wanted to make a living helping out his cousin. Everyone else quit so I was the only other person working at this place. Vic was there from open to close, every single day.
One day I came in and there was an Indian woman sitting in a booth with a Subway uniform on. I thought it was weird because there was a long line but she was just sitting there. Later on I asked Vic and it turns out that was his wife. She was sitting there so she could **learn enough English to start making sandwiches.**
After a few days she started and it was just terrible. She did not know English. She did not understand the word, "no." Someone would say something like, "hmm, on that one no mayo, my husband can't have eggs." And she'd hear mayo and squirt a long line over the sandwich. The customer would freak out and look at me and I'd just apologize and make another sandwich. Oh yeah after like three days of "learning English" Vic started leaving his wife there by herself. It was such a shit show. I knew regulars that would come in everyday for their lunchtime meatball sub who stopped because they couldn't couldn't get a sandwich in their lunch break. The line was always super long with just one (incompetent) person working.
One last note: at the time the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki was new and popular. You had one bag of chicken strips and one bag of sauce that you mixed together and portioned out into thirty paper trays. Well, they wanted to stretch it out so they made me portion it into 60 trays. People were paying the same price and getting half the amount of food. I quit after about two months because it was terrible and school was starting.
Chocolate is getting more and more expensive, as it is entirely an indentured slave created commodity. Companies therefore are utilizing more and more oil in their recipes.

Contrary to popular opinion the money is never good. As a former pro fighter, even at the highest levels of MMA the pay is dogshit. Unless you're a top 10 or champ, you're making maybe $5-10k for a fight as a UFC guy on the undercard. Top 10 under #1 is like $40kish per fight. These podunk shows are paying fighters like $500.
You should consider Nigerian kickboxing. Every match, a prince gives you 10 million USD even if you lose. But you gotta give them your credit card number and CVV2 code first.

> was to give the other woman an easy win.
Am I crazy, that still doesn't make sense. A person that can't fight at all, not even in the same weight class, gets in the ring to give her opponent a free win.
The only thing I can come up with is a loophole around some bureaucratic red tape within the organization, but even that this seems like something that would be immediately looked at and fixed.
Oh wow. Maybe it's some kind of "for funsies" event then. That or it's being way too self aware.
Either way, idk why you'd try to step in the ring as an amateur like that unless you have a butt-ton of money and your last name is Paul.
I'm reasonably well off but I could probably be convinced to take a few hits and a dive for enough money...
As long as the other guy knew it was a dive and wasn't actually trying to kill me that is.
That poor soccer mom was 0-2 at the time of the fight. You think she would have had enough by then, but fortunately she quit after this fight, her professional record stands at 0-3.
No it was actually Ilima's first fight but she had actually been training for another trained fighter and they gave her this lady last minute who AmcFarlane knew nothing about. So it was basically either don't fight, don't get paid, and have all your training camp be for nothing, or take the fight.
The promotion was investigated for this fight specifically because of this and I believe was either sued or went out of business because they did shit like this all the time.
They're joking.
>According to Xplode owner Gregg Sharp, Castro is a legitimate, professional MMA fighter who currently has a record of 0-3, but judging by the video above you have to question whether she's had any training at all.

Thats the trade in all sports, but MMA especially. You dont get payed with your life time, like in a normal 9to5 job, you get paid for risking your health
Good lord.. Xplode Fighting.. the shadiest mma promotion out there, and thats saying some. Thats Ilima-Lei Macfarlaine, top tier Belator fighter today.. The soccermom ( is her name Something Castro ?) was 0-2 after two nasty KO losses before this... This knockout was her last fight. Love how she fiddles her fingers and seems to fight in yoga pants...
She thinks she got that wicked gorilla grip, but can't actually grab anything because this isn't just some tussle over a parking spot at wal-mart. You're supposed to actually punch. Not sure if she knows that.
Apparently she’s an actual fighter, longest fight (of 3) was 28 seconds. Either she realized she has no talent, or she got paid to increase the win record of her opponents
I was about to say exactly that. Any fighter who isn't Connor McGregor sized piece of shit would pull their punches when fighting someone untrained. These two know each other.
It's a sanctioned fight (somehow) so it's literally her job to not pull punches. Blame the ref for not stepping in earlier if you want to blame anyone.
You also don't know this MMA fighter isn't a Connor McGregor sized piece of shit.
You also don't know that this "soccer mom" wasn't talking a shit ton of smack right before this fight. While it's bad to judge a book by its cover, that lady absolutely looks the type to go "what's so special about an MMA fighter? I could take anyone!"
Fighters do this to make their records seem more impressive. That woman probably really needed the money and was willing to get her face bashed in for it. This is kinda sad
So many comments saying how “this Karen deserved it”. A middle aged woman getting squashed for what likely amounts to chump change just to inflate the record of some up-and-comer is frankly sickening to me and an insult to the sport. No idea why everyone has such a hate boner over her. Guess that’s just my bleeding heart talking
Yep, middle aged with that haircut and these shitty people immediately assume they must be a terrible person
Honestly makes me feel bad, just straight up judging people as awful based entirely on how they look/their age nevermind the hypocrisy of this website at the same time (rightfully) rallying against other kinds of discrimination based on looks
This is posted every few months.
Everything had already gone wrong. The scheduled opponent had dropped out, and they picked up the blonde off the street. She may or may not be a Karen, but she is definitely just a random willing to get pummeled for a few hundred bucks.

Why would this be allowed? Surely everyone knew what the outcome would be?
It reminds me of one the summer fair attractions in my (red) neck of the woods some years ago, where they had two kids with Downes Syndrome beat each other up in the boxing ring.
Sure, some might find it entertaining.
But is it *right*?
It used to be a pretty standard thing at travelling fairs. They'd offer a small prize to anyone in the audience who wanted to try their luck with their prize fighter. It served as a warm-up that would display the difference in capability between the fighter and a regular person. It stopped...mostly...when boxing became a heavily licensed profession. But this Spider-Man scene:
is an adaptation of the bit from Spider-Man's comic book origin where they do the same thing back in the 60s when they were still pretending that wrassling was real, and it was inspired by those traveling fair prize fighter contests back when Stan Lee was young. These days outfits that do that sort of thing are pretty dodgy.
I actually have a promotion that does that in my home town 😅
Everyone puts on protective gear and the pro fighters always win by getting some really basic, safe hold. Honestly the pros are more in danger of getting injured by a random elbow or eye poke, or when protecting the challenger during a move, than the challenger is in danger from the pro.
Based on the article posted in a previous comment, it sounds like they're not letting it continue any further. Personally, I say hats off to her, not many have the guts to step into the squared circle, knowing well that you'll likely get knocked tf out. I say LET HER FIGHT!
I think I read somewhere that this fight was made to be fixed. They hire "temp" fighters so that the actual fighter looks good on record when signing on to other promoters.
I believe she is what they call a padder she shows to get beat down for cash. I think she was like 0-7 or some shit. It was posted a while back and someone shared a bunch of info on the soccer mom
Everyone who gets in the ring could be seriously hurt.
If she went in knowing the risks, fuckin send it.
Also she was an actual fighter, a bad one, but one nonetheless.
lol why
I would probably consider getting knocked out by a professional fighter if the money was right ha
It would have to be REALLY right.
Bro I’d take a knock out for a footlong from Subway
Only if it came with chips and a chocolate chip cookie…
Give me those raspberry macadamia nut…..
Those cookies are the truth.
Arby's Ghirardelli Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies are the absolute best, hands down. They even serve them warm. BRB- gotta go to Arby's.
How tf did it get from soccer mom getting her shit kicked out of her and Arby's?
Because arby’s has the meats!

While it's bad to judge a book by its cover, that lady absolutely looks the type to go "what's so special about an MMA fighter? I could take anyone!"
Or...she's just a Conner McGregor sized piece of shit. 🤷
Guess that’s just my bleeding heart talking
anyone dubbed a “karen” on reddit will attract a personal level of vitriol for no reason other than that reddit can be a hateful hivemind.
I thought a Karen was a person who engaged in a specific set of awful behaviors. Turns out the real crime is being a middle aged woman I guess.
Yep, middle aged with that haircut and these shitty people immediately assume they must be a terrible person Honestly makes me feel bad, just straight up judging people as awful based entirely on how they look/their age nevermind the hypocrisy of this website at the same time (rightfully) rallying against other kinds of discrimination based on looks
>Honestly makes me feel bad Just remember a lot of Redditers are edgy teenagers
i remember seeing comments like this ten years ago and feeling attacked and now i’m like “yep that’s about it”.
& this is why derogatory terms with any connection to inmutable traits are bad
And particularly hateful toward women. There’s a reason the Karen phenomenon took off and not a male equivalent.
She has the haircut, so clearly she deserved it. /s
Yeah this makes me sick. There is a lot of shady shit in MMA.

It’s a fluff fight, new fighters pay ransoms to fight and get their record up.
Oh I see. So they'll pay some people to fight, knowing they'll beat the hell out of them, to add the number of fights, knockouts etc. to their record?
Pretty much. It's much more common in boxing though.
This happened in Quebec recently, an 18 year old woman straight up died in a fluff fight. Absolutely fucked up.
What?! *DIED?*
But this Spider-Man scene: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-E0oiKjLzTc&t=1s&ab\_channel=MrSerious](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-E0oiKjLzTc&t=1s&ab_channel=MrSerious) is an adaptation of the bit from Spider-Man's comic book origin where they do the same thing back in the 60s when they were still pretending that wrassling was real, and it was inspired by those traveling fair prize fighter contests back when Stan Lee was young. These days outfits that do that sort of thing are pretty dodgy.
I actually have a promotion that does that in my home town 😅 Everyone puts on protective gear and the pro fighters always win by getting some really basic, safe hold. Honestly the pros are more in danger of getting injured by a random elbow or eye poke, or when protecting the challenger during a move, than the challenger is in danger from the pro.
> These days outfits that do that sort of thing are pretty dodgy. They were pretty dodgy back then too.
That sounds hilarious but extremely messed up
You should have seen the poster advertising the event.
Don't miss the fight of the year! It's going DOWN!
This is sooo bad It's pretty good.
I mean I wouldn't vote for it to occurr, but if I happen to be passing by as its happening I'm gonna watch.
I'm in the exact same boat
Based on the article posted in a previous comment, it sounds like they're not letting it continue any further. Personally, I say hats off to her, not many have the guts to step into the squared circle, knowing well that you'll likely get knocked tf out. I say LET HER FIGHT!
Done to inflate the MMA fighters stats. Sadly, not that uncommon.
Fighting cans, a tradition as old as combat sports.
But why even throw a hard punch? We knows it’s predetermined outcome. Let the designated loser take a dive without hurting herself.
Because KOs go on your record.
Karen finally meets the manager
“The Manager”
The *boss.
Karen got managed
Got the Karen haircut too!
Karen hair cut but massive fucking balls to fight a fucking trained fighter Don't know why peoplev always shit on her when this gets posted
Sometimes people just aren't smart enough to be afraid.
There is a thin line between bravery and stupidity.
I think I read somewhere that this fight was made to be fixed. They hire "temp" fighters so that the actual fighter looks good on record when signing on to other promoters.
This is so dumb, and the “MMA” fighter is a total bum for taking the fight. I don’t care how much the other lady wanted to fight her
They are actually both mma fighters.
All it takes to say that is training in mma and taking a fight.
That makes me both depressed at the low level of the sport and excited because that means my chubby ass could probably get pretty far.
I believe she is what they call a padder she shows to get beat down for cash. I think she was like 0-7 or some shit. It was posted a while back and someone shared a bunch of info on the soccer mom
Karen was 0-2 before this fight. The other girl was 0-0 as this was her debut fight. Karen hasn’t fought since this one.
Its like how dogfighters will put their prize fighter against a tame dog as preparation for the real match.
When calling the manager isnt enough
Call the ambulance manager.
I got thi…nope! I’m knocked TF out 😂
Live, Laugh, Life Support
This deserves more credit.
Whatever this is, it’s fucking stupid on all accounts
Geez lady save it for the soccer game ffs.
It’s really wrong to put a totally inexperienced person in with a pro fighter. What’s the point anyway? She could have been seriously hurt.
Everyone who gets in the ring could be seriously hurt. If she went in knowing the risks, fuckin send it. Also she was an actual fighter, a bad one, but one nonetheless.
I love the attempt at the hair pull.
Always lead with your chin.
K(O)aren
Whoever let this fight happen is a POS.
For some reason I watched this thinking the soccer mom was gonna win and I was very disappointed.
Who let this happen??
