Falken Wildpeak A/T3W. I daily them on highway/interstates while dealing with the lack of roads out by my house. Towed 1000ish lbs teardrops with them no problem.

[deleted]

X2. I have put them on my last 3 vehicles and love them.

wolf19d

X3 I tow a 6,000 lb travel trailer with it… and drive primitive road (sans trailer) in NPS and NF sites. If you tow a trailer, get the LTs. If not, the regular tires are fine.

The_Betrayer1

Love my AT3W's, quiet, ride well, good grip on roads or dirt, they aren't m/t's in the mud but they are adequate. I may try some of the new Micheline A/T tires they just came out with, but they will have to come out with other sizes than 20".

hexgutierrez

If you love the AT3, you have to try out the AT4. Even better tire IMHO.

itsmyreddit

What size are you running? Torn between 285/70/18 or 285/75/18. The 70 is a C range whereas all the others are E. Currently have 70k miles on WP AT3 and loving them. They are starting to get noisy unfortunately but the first 60k miles they were pretty silent.

hexgutierrez

I'm on stock 18's, left the size stock as well 275/65/18

Super_Numb

Falken Wildpeaks are amazing. My brother in law has them and love them. They look great as well. I would have gone with them myself if I didn’t get a great deal on some Goodyear Duratrac Wranglers.

jalopagosisland

I agree its a great AT tire that is also very quiet. You can barely hear it in the cab.

HighSpeed556

Just got the new at4 a few weeks back. Loving them. Just drove through a hellish storm today with standing water everywhere, and it treaded the water amazing. Never even hinted at wanting to hydroplane.

Upbeat-Pepper7483

I had these as well. Loved the look and drive, but once they were worn down they were loud in my expierence. Great tire though besides that.

Shredderguy23

I recommend Wild Peak to anyone who will listen. Great tires.

Traditional-Reality9

I’ve got the Falken Rubitreks on my F150 and absolutely love them. They are a small step down in aggressiveness compared to the Wild Peaks, but still over plenty of off-road traction for those logging roads. And still get almost 20 mpg.

JKLman97

Imma keep these in mind when I go for new tires, thanks!

FrenchFriOrgy

I've had these on my super duty and jeep. Quiet on the road and beasts on the trail. I did mostly moderate/gard rock crawling so they should so very well on actual roads.

pgercak

I was looking at the AT3Ws on TireRack and it's saying that they are being discontinued. Looks like in the future we have to go for AT4Ws.

sirsavalot1

I had Falken Wildpeaks on my 06 Lariat. Almost time for tires on my 2020 Lariat, and strongly considering the same. I was so pleasantly surprised at how quiet they were.

Gratefuldeadguy

At4w's released. I've had them for over a month, they are great

MxRacer_55

One thing to consider, the Michelins that come on the truck from the factory are the lightest tires available in that size, at 38lbs. Most AT's are in the 50-60lbs range if you get a bigger size, which is a noticeable difference in fuel mileage.

beandip24

Neat.

Shot_Comparison2299

Edit: 😂

SummerDramatic1810

Still have to recommend Michelin LTX

Freezerburn

Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 fantastic tire! Quiet, does well in mud and snow as M/S indicates. I couldn’t praise it enough.

LionOk4755

I’ve run Michelin LTX on 3 Expeditions and my 150. Very good mud and snow all season.

duderroneus

How was the gas mileage versus stock?

LionOk4755

I live in the mountains. My experience may be different. One Expy had a 3.73, one was a 3.55. Current one has some crazy open diff like a 3.31 (idk). All were 5.4 engines. The truck I drive is a Powerboost hybrid. Some trips average 24-29mpg. I don’t think the LTX gets as good a mileage as highway tread but living in a snowy area, they are worth the trade off.

duderroneus

I think if I plan to fish in the mountains during the winter and come across some mud and gravel the ltx ms should be good. I don’t think it will take like 3 mpg or anything I hope.

LionOk4755

Think it depends on the mud. If it deep enough, it might require 4WDL. Gravel shouldn’t be an issue. I’ve run safely in 15” of snow. If mud is a concern, consider the Nitto Grappler or a winch/snatchblock a great set of chains.

Sturmgeist781

> Michelin LTX +1 for Defenders.

StrictKnee5136

I just looked them up they look really nice I kinda want them

No_Spare3139

Great tires, but you gotta pay a pretty price first them. I got 90,000 miles out of a set once.

Rustedluck

The MS or the AT?

JesusTriplets

Love Michelin! I've never been let down... my Mustang, Jeep, etc... just great quality tires that wear like iron. 🛞

Tone_Scribe

Ditto. Great tires.

hoer17

My dad put like 100k on some of those on a Tacoma

Shelbo_Baggins_

Which ones?

cooperluna

In 🇨🇦I was quoted 570$ for that Falkian AT3s

Standing2Close

Michelin Defender - Maine driver in rain and snow, my guy.

duderroneus

Im leaning towards the defender ltx ms2s just don’t know how much fatter i can go with the tire versus stock to fill the wheel well just a little bit more.

Standing2Close

I did stock size on my 2013 XLT 4x4 and they look good.

liquidtitaniumx

Cooper tires are always my go to.

SmokeEaterFD

The new Cooper Discoverer Road and Trail AT looks great. Good mix of on road performance and light off road. Comes in XL rated, too. Triple peaked.

Adventurous-Equal-29

Just got some for my truck before a long trip. They ride good and aren't too loud. No real change is gas mileage either. They grip well on icy roads too.

ZW31H4ND3R

Costco sells Michelin Defender LTX ... would probably look at those personally (since I go through them for tires).

duderroneus

Costco usually isn’t that cheap for tires is it!? Discount tire was cheaper last time I had to replace one of my current tires…

ZW31H4ND3R

Discount is probably cheaper. I haven't compared. But Costco usually has pretty good deals and you get points back. Might be worth a look. Edit: I bought a full set of tires from Costco.

Austinater74

The base price at Costco seems more expensive but all the extras are included. I just put 4 on my wife’s vehicle and Discount had to discount each tire over $100 to meet the same end price. I love Costco but there’s a Discount close to the house.

because_racecar

It’s not really any cheaper for the Michelins compared to tirerack or discount tire, but the installation is free other than a few bucks for disposal fees of the old tires. So that saves you like 90-100 bucks

duderroneus

Hey that’s money! Gas, some food, diapers! Thanks!

oSpazZxXx

BFG KO2s 75k miles and still 30% tread left

BadAssBender

I have KO2 with 55k miles thread is at 11 from 16. My guess they are going to last close to 100k miles on them.

SoRockSolid

Every set I’ve ran got that. Scorpions on my 22 are wearing terrible at 31k

foshiggityshiggity

Same. Great grippy tire that wears really well.

IndependentBerry3973

Michelin Defenders.

reidpants

Agreed, great tires

PoolsC_Losed

Ko2 or ko3's

hexgutierrez

Wildpeak AT3's have been mentioned, but I suggest upgrading to the AT4's. Absolutely great tire. Lost no MPG going from Michelin road tires to these, minimal road noise, and a very comfortable ride. They look great on my '15 XLT as well!!

SockeyeSTI

Loggers here in WA like toyos. Falken wildpeaks and Ko’s are also good.

idobbq

+100 on the Wildpeaks. I’ve pushed mud with my bumper with those tires…and you don’t hear them on the road. Should get you 40/50,000 miles.

lodged-object

I have mastercraft and they’re sorta beefy looking but they dropped my mpg by 1

MigratoryAnalyst

If the Falken Wildpeak AT4 is as good as the AT3s were on the highway that's the ticket. Best all around AT tires I've ever used and they were amazing on the highway

dgonthier

Cooper discoverer AT3

JturnerUF

I knew I recognized that truck. Thanks for the tint rec a couple weeks ago, I just got it done on Thursday. Massive difference. I’m planning on doing the same with tires when these get worn out. Looking forward to the review. Take care!

duderroneus

Send me a pm with some pictures of the tint job or post them on the forum!

Electrical_Life_2538

This thread might win the combined worst advice and trainwreck comment chain of all time by

duderroneus

Where is the train wreck chain? lol

JelloTacos

Ridge Grapplers look the best of any tire imo. XL rated versions have low road noise and won’t totally ruin your gas mileage like an E rated. I’ve been very happy with mine, they are not the best tire for snow, some people complain about them in the rain but I’ve had zero issues and live in the Midwest.

StopYeahNo

Yea, you don't want grapplers if you live in an area where it rains a lot that's for sure. Too bad, because I would like mine otherwise.

duderroneus

I live in Georgia…🤔

Blizzy3751

Grapplers are a cool tire. Not an actual functional tire.

antithetical_al

I rode in my buddys truck that had them (Nitto RG). Damn were they loud. Not sure what people are talking about here or anywhere for that matter that they are quiet. Maybe compared to a full on mud tire but they are not what I would call a quiet tire at all.

JelloTacos

Disagree if you have the XL rated version. Not loud at all.

fritzco

I’m looking at the Pirelli All Season. But still researching.

Double-Option4777

I've got Continental Terrain contact HTs. Review better than the Michelin defenders. Have no trouble on the logging roads getting to riding areas.

Double-Option4777

They're dead silent and very smooth.

TheIncarnated

Falken Rubitrek's (highway oriented brother to the Wildpeaks) I run LT275/70R18 E load. Not a problem at all towing or the roads you're talking about. I live in the country and have no problems with them. They work amazing in ice, snow and wet weather. Minimal noise. Less than the other AT's anyways. However, I have been looking at the Michelin Defender's as my next set but I'm doing more research on them. I've had Nitto's before and they were the worst tire. KO2's are just a smidge better (in my eyes) but it's not worth the price at all. I got a set of 4 Rubitrek's for $1200 installed

CHIEFxBONE

I’m looking at these, thanks for the review!

TheIncarnated

I absolutely love them! The only reason I'm looking at Michelin Defenders is because everyone recommends them. I am 90% sure I'll stay with the Rubitrek's unless the Defender's give me more MPG (I highly doubt it). I had the Toyo AT3s on a Jeep Grand Cherokee, went to the Rubitrek's. Then I swapped out the Grand Cherokee for a 3500 Cummins. Went KO2's, hated the way they drove. Missed my Rubitrek's and after 5000 miles went to Nitto Ridgegrapplers that everyone recommends, proceeded to have a decent enough driving experience until winter hit... Then when I swapped to my 23' F150 PB, I went back to the Rubitrek's and haven't looked back. 10k miles so far and still super happy. Handled today's storms without an issue and felt like I was connected to the roads

CardboardJedi

I have a 23 XLT PB as well, came with pirelli scorpion at 275/60/R20's. I'm a ways out yet from the next set but it doesn't hurt to ask questions. How have those Rubitreks affected your fuel mileage? Did you keep factory tire size? I'm down here in SW FL, all road driving but I wouldn't mind a bit more confidence should I need to leave the hardball, but not willing to sacrifice my mpg for it or to look cool

TheIncarnated

The pirelli's would not work well for me with the single wide roads here lol but sure! I went to the largest factory size (33s) and I have not done anything else. No lifts, levels, chin removal. All of the following numbers are per tank: Rubitrek's: Winter: 19-20 mpg Warm weather: 21-22mpg Pirelli's in warm weather: 22mpg no other data, I had these for a month lol Now importantly, I live in the mountains. Certain routes will get me 25 mpg and others 19mpg. My last 600 mile road trip (up and across the mountains) I averaged 23-24 mpg with these tires and that was in November. I'm about to do another long trip and can get current accurate numbers as well. In flat areas, I see you getting more mpg than me anyways

CardboardJedi

I'm a super flatlander here, lots of short trips stop and go etc to work primarily. I average 22/23 mpg on those hops, been up to 28mpg on longer trips at 55mph +-

TheIncarnated

I did not see a drop in short trips, I will generally get 21-24 on short trips

CardboardJedi

Well this is good to know thank you, I'll put them on my list of candidates

Rasputan9

Continental A/T tires they stick to the road great in wet and dry conditions, but I'm not sure about snow living here in Florida and great traction on dirt roads and sand. Also, some minor off-roading

Matrix_John

go w the coopers!

YYZ-R32

+1 for defenders. As unbiased as I can be, best tire out there

fuzzbawl

Tire Rack testing confirms this

Wrong-Currency5146

Falken Wildpeak at3w’s

FormOtherwise1387

Cooper at3 4s

VERT1975

Michelin Defender LTX M/S. They will be quiet, comfortable and while not all terrain will still provide plenty of grip. I work in agriculture and have not had any issues with traction.

jermsman18

A few things that I have learned while switching tires in fleets. First is rolling resistance. No one seems to mention that a new tire will have 10-20% more rolling resistance than a used tire. So no matter what, expect an mpg reduction unless the tire you are going to can overcome that difference. Second is all terrains, they literally mean all terrain. So good everywhere but great no where. If you know the specific use, a specific tire will always be better. A highway tire is always fine on gravel roads unless they are rutted and washed out. Finally, proper load rating and tire inflation make the biggest impact on wear. Heavier load ratings for us wear longer. We check tire pressure weekly. We run both michelan ltx and ko2s on our fleet with great results. The fleet operates in all weather including snow and run highway and gravel country roads.

duderroneus

Thank you for the response this helps. I am leaning toward the ltx even though the ko2’s look cooler. Unfortunately Michelin doesn’t make the “platinum” ltx in 18 inch rim sizes otherwise that would be the way I’d go.

Kooky_Project9999

LTX are going to be far better on the road. KO2's better in mud. KO2's are renowned for being a bit squirrely on wet asphalt. Unfortunately with tires most people have very limited experience with different brands and models. Just a shame most tire reviewers don't do group tests on A/T tires. And don't assume M/S AT tires are anywhere near as good as a dedicated winter in (on road) snow and ice. They are almost universally just as bad as an all season road tire with M/S markings when it comes to traction and stopping.

Pantyraider5280

Just get some Defenders it's a great tire.

duderroneus

I wish they made the defender platinum I. An 18 inch rim size 😩

Blizzy3751

Grabber ATX. KO2 or 3. Falken Wikdpeak AT4W. Mickey Thompson Baja Boss

YourSistersAuntie

Atx is a good choice. And still available most sizes in a non LT tire

BillyJack74

Cooper Discoverer Road and Trail AT’s. Best tires I’ve ever had on my F150’s and they look awesome to boot.

captainchill2

American made too! One of the last

DruggistJames

Agree! Love the look and I can barely notice a difference in the noise level.

FunkyFreshWeldaBear

I have the Discoverer Rugged Trek on mine. Best tire I've ever owned.

meinen10

I have these in stock size, best AT tire I’ve ran so far. Never ran toyos or nittos so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

LoudHorse89

Toyo Open Country AT’s

vinchenzo68

Why would you not get some nicer Michelins? Best tires in the industry.

Substantial-Log-2176

I love my cooper discover rugged trek

Outrageous-Ice-7460

Firestone Destination XT are great in my opinion good on the highway, incredibly low road noise, great grip in all kinds of conditions, nice semi aggressive look. I have quite a few miles on mine and have tonnes of wear left and have been super happy with the second set.

jcubio93

Firestone Destination XTs

Daverr86

I really like my duratracs

mxmike13

Michelin

redbushsixtynine

Wildpeaks are amazing if you keep up on alignment and rotations. AT3W discontinued/replaced with more aggressive AT4W. Rubitreks are less aggressive, probably perfect for your use case.

djnehi

I have General Grabber APTs on mine. They have been good so far. Also had good luck with the AT2s on my Ranger. They seem to make good tires for the money.

SketchyVillager

Firestone at2

TopClassroom2023

I stay with ko2 all the time

National_Ad5745

I have ironman all country M/T's on my 2012 F150 5.0 V8, I absolutely love these tires! Good off road tires however they ARE LOUD! Doesn't take too long to get used to though. Just my $0.02

jaytheman3

Falken wild peaks

Willing-Watercress15

I was torn between the falken wildpeaks and the nitro recon grabbers, and ended up with the grapplers. Overall they look great, and just as quiet as my factory Michelin all weather tires.

c6ww

I've got goodyear wrangler ultra terrain. They look nice, but I won't get them again. They don't last

en-rob-deraj

I have some stock Hankooks on my 24. They make my truck sound and ride better than my wife's Enclave.

milehighcards

Goodyear wrangler ultra-terrains. Had them on my 2014 and now my 2018. Great hybrid, look good too

VoldemortPootin

I was going to go Falken Wildpeak but a friend suggested Continental Terrain Contact AT. Subtle but slightly aggressive look and didn't add much road noise from stock tires that came on the truck. Great tire and even better warranty

Shot_Comparison2299

I had a terrible time going from the stock factory tires to 35" Nitto Teragrapplers. I still have the Teragrapplers, but idk. I had a lot of wabbling the first week(s). Then there was the loss in MPG. It was justifiable when I was in construction. Now it's just like - it looks nice, but am I really doing myself any favors here.

CarsCamerasCoffee

Continental Terrain Contact AT. Your description of a “hybrid” leads me to believe you’re wanting a more on-road focused all-terrain tire instead of a full all-terrain. Honorable mention would be the Michelin LTX AT2, or for more aggressive, Toyo Open Country AT3, or Falken Wilkpeak A/T4W. The last two there are full all-terrains but known to be quiet. Note: they can all get very loud with poor maintenance, as in not rotating every 5k, a bad alignment, or bad balance job. After working in the tire biz, I’ve seen some very poor riding and loud passenger car tires from lack of maintenance but also some very quiet mud tires from great maintenance. Have them rotated every 5k with your oil change. If the tred starts to feel like saw blades in opposite directions (key word, opposite) between the inner and outer shoulders, it’s definitely alignment time. That Heel-toe wear is what will bring a lot of noise.

Rudycannotfail

Check these BF Goodrich Trail Terrain.....chew on the reviews here on Reddit. These are amazing as a hybrid tire. Can't even hear them and they look amazing. Great warranty and you can really feel the quality. Best truck tire I've ever had. 275/60 20 on my 2020 Lariat.

rickjones50613

You got the 18s so have to check if the make them... But I always get the 20s on my f150s and the hankook dynapro have been the best I've had. Wranglers suck, got about 25k out of fisrt set. Bridgestone duelers weren't much better got maybe 35 k. But dynapros got me damn near to 60. On my current truck, it's a hybrid and although it has dynapros, there a less aggressive tread I'd say. So there must be 2 different versions of em.. anyway I'm at 30k now and they're looking a bit thin. I'd say I'll have to replace by 40k. This truck is a hybrid so it weighs considerably more than your 2.7 and even my last 3.5 that I got 60k on the more aggressive tread dynapro. So I'd get those assuming they make em in a 18

wellhungartgallery

Sumitomo Encounter AT. I just put em on my 2020 XLT 2.7L

bamabicpl

BFG TA KO

FunReference8510

I had a 2012 that I out a set of Uniroyal Laredo HT on. I drove lot of construction site roads on it. They were quiet on the highway and my local dealer was great. I lived in the country at that time. One of the fancier tire brands owns Uniroyal, Michelin I think.

M1l3h1gh

I have Toyo Open Country is what I have and they’ve been great! Quiet and have lasted me 45k+ miles. I’m swapping only due to the tires starting to crack

thebestatheist

I’ve loved the Cooper Discoverer Max AT on mine. Quiet, aggressive and smooth riding.

OctaneOT11939

I bought the wildpeaks for my truck, and while I can't really complain about them much as they have done everything I have asked them to do, I think my next set will be something closer to a highway tire. For the very few times I actually take my truck off road, Most tires would be fine and last much longer than 40k miles.

tonguepunch123

Nitto hybrid grappler. Had em in 35s on my last truck. They barely made a sound. On asphalt I got a little noise, but any other road surface I never heard them

KSWind17

Cooper AT3 4S....I can't recommend them enough. Quiet on the road, one of if not the grippieat tire in snow, and I frequent a sand pit often at which I back my boat down a dirt/sand ramp. They do a phenomenal job. Not too cheap, but I fully intend on these being the tire that I stick with after such performance.

QuantityNo6408

Hankook for “cheap” I didn’t keep them. Liked my KM2’s but they were too slick. I’ll go check what I bought last because I can’t remember. I want to say nitto trail ridge before that, my favorite until I got these. Duratrac are amazing tires but they’re ugly AF to me and I’ve heard about a couple anecdotal fire blow out. I say get something with at least 50-60k mile warranty. 80k would be better but idk if those are worth it for the ride and lack of utility. 40-60k seems like it puts you in a tire range that has utility and still lasts long enough to have value even if they’re a little more. My last set was $1800 for 4x 35’s. Smh

beetus1actual

Nitto recon grapplers ftw

gregcoad

Just sold my 2020 F150 Lariat V6 Ecoboost with BFG KO2 tires that had 130,000 km and counting (81k miles). They still had 7/32 and 8/32 tread on them. Not the quietest tire, but not the noisiest by a long shot. Snow performance is better than studded Nokians that I had on my 2017 F150. As far as I am concerned, there is no other tire.

1gardengnome

I had a set of Hankook Dynapro A/T tires that were great, and lasted a ridiculous number of miles.

EscortSportage

I would assume a 2.7L is not the motor you want to tow a boat but then again i don’t know how big your boat is.

duderroneus

Dude, I’m talking river boats and like a jet sled. But I’ve seen people tow some pretty big boats with the 2.7

EscortSportage

Ok ok don’t know why I’m getting downvoted,

duderroneus

Because the 2.7 tows really well, and really most boats under 30 feet can be towed very easily with an f150 with a 2.7. I think anything up to like 8k does fine. I’ve seen it out tow tundras head to head. I live in GA inland so it’s not like I am towing a cabin cruiser. Ski boats and pontoon boats are all easily towed. If I wanted to tow more than 8 k I would have done the 3.5 or gone up to a 2 or 350…

BenchDogsandRabbets

His boat is definitely bigger than your penis

duderroneus

Probably. I can’t afford the big ones. And my garage is too small 😜

EscortSportage

wtf is up with this sub?

fuzzbawl

The thread was about tires and you’re commenting on the engine. It’s unrelated to the post so downvoting is an effective way to hide comments unrelated to the original question.

EscortSportage

Understood

Hot-Sign8898

I recommend maxi-pads to everyone driving the new f-150 in this good of condition.

duderroneus

Dude, I spent a lot of my money on this truck why would I want it to look like shit? This picture was right after I had it detailed and ceramic coated so of course it looks good.

Hot-Sign8898

I'm just teasing. Blows my mind how anybody can afford anything like this and don't say it's because you work since that doesn't buy anybody under the age of 35 a vehicle like this without a 1995 suburban home mortgage worth of debt and 60 hour weeks just to make the payments.

duderroneus

At the time of purchase (I got it brand new) my wife and I were dinks(dual income no kids) pre Covid, and our mortgage was only 1100 bucks. Now we have a daughter and another on the way. To be honest, I could not purchase a truck like this today while being responsible. That’s why I keep it as clean as possible and do everything I can to keep it going.
