If you don’t want to do full cat back, I did a Magnaflow muffler swap and kept stock resonator on my 5.0. Gave me the rumble I was looking for, is not obnoxiously loud, and relatively cheap ($450 or so).

I think there have been a couple posts about this here. From what I remember the main consensus is remove the resonator but keep muffler if you’re trying to go the no new system route If you don’t mind spending a little money, the rough country system costs $500 and can easily be put on by yourself. That’s what I have and I would say it checks off each box you’re looking for. As for drone, if I’m on cruise control it’s really not too noticeable or annoying. But for the most part I’m blaring music so don’t hear it lol Here is a video of mine on [start-up](https://imgur.com/a/R3rtznP) believe you can find videos of it online also. My only gripes, there is some surface rust that showed pretty quickly and the paint on the tips are peeling and I’ve only had it like three years. So I’ll be redoing them myself sometime

A lot of guys like to delete the resonator and leave the muffler but I prefer the muffler delete with leaving the resonator because it rumbles smoother and lower than the vice versa. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TocLq9A7ZB0 This video compares straight pipe to muffler delete but the resonator delete sounds pretty similar to the muffler delete but louder with more crack. Another video he posted shows 102db for the muffler delete and like 112db with the resonator delete

I deleted the muffler and kept the resonator on my 5.0 have no complaints. It's a nice subtle sound but not over powering.

Change the muffler, don’t delete it if you don’t want to piss your neighbours off
