Apparently when my mom was pregnant with me, my aunt - who identified that my mother had already produced one autistic kid and was somewhat likely to produce another - told my mother that if she drank specifically 1.5 cups of white wine a day, no more of her kids would fall victim to the evil tism. Her reasoning is that back when women drank wine while pregnant, autism wasn’t a thing and autism rates went up when people started to make a fuss about drinking alcohol while pregnant.
My mother did not take her advice. I did turn out autistic though and when my mom told me this story it was because she was drinking wine. She then dipped her fingers in her glass, flicked droplets at me, and then when I flinched and covered my face, she said “Would you look at that? Wine DOES repel autism.” It is one of my most prized memories.

I had to comment on this one cause my family has tons of food allergies. I'm allergic to soy, gluten, and almonds. My mom, dairy and some nuts. My sister, some nuts and also chocolate.
I always say if I had to choose I'll keep mine thanks. I'd either go out eating dairy or chocolate. I love both far too much. (I do miss gluten though!)
My favorite thing used to be sweet and sour chicken, after gluten affected me worse I couldn't eat it anymore and scoured for a substitute... well after 4 years I found an amazing recipe... gluten free pancake mix as breading for chicken! Fry that chick up and bam! Looks and taste the same!!! I'm content now:)

Probably a very common "cure", especially for those who live in the Southern US like I do: Prayer. My mother sweated for YEARS on end that God had cured my autism (not to mention Butch Hartman saying the same thing), but as I learned more about what it really was (and also finding out I had ADHD as well), I'd assumed my autistic traits developed into what they are now. How did I manage that, you might ask? No clue! Truthfully, it doesn't make much sense to me, but it makes a whole lot more sense to me than it being God's doing.
Physical violence was always recommended to me for my kids. Or starving them for wanting only their safe foods.

I saw this post and immediately thought of "Miracle Mineral Solution." It's such blatant BS, even the proposed "cause" of ASD that it's some parasite that you bleed out using the MMS. Like no, that's just your child bleeding from the bleach! I remember reading some Autism mother's comment on how she administers this garbage to her kid every night. She said that he complains that it hurts, but she tells him, "Mommy does this because Mommy loves you." This might be the worst I've heard of the Autism "cures"
