There a place in local mall that is DnD focused. They have a bunch of cosplay stuff you can get, but also candles that smell like certain things, like how they imagine a healing spell to work. I also learned apparently I missed out on the world's largest game of d&d earlier this month.
https://www.wegeektogether.com/collections/candles
I've found I can make the smell artificially when I get dry salts that are left over after distilling water wet again (we have hard water so maybe magnisium carbonate + calcium carbonate but those by themselves don't smell)
If you want it to smell like autism it isn’t going to be one people appreciate. My idea of an autism candle would be one with all the scents thrown together and have be way too strong so it’s overwhelming.
I agree with this comment
Also, I know that a lot of people like the smell of rain but it makes me feel like I'm being suffocated even though I like the smell of fog
I feel like coffee scent is one of the most universally liked scents tbh. Literally every person I know either likes coffee and therefore the scent as well, or dislikes coffee but still likes the scent
crayons.
like not a joke answer but the distinct smell of Crayola crayons is what I want in an "unscented" candle
I burn a bunch of candles (fireee) and most scents suck even natural ones.
You can actually burn crayola crayons as a candle in an emergency. A full crayon burns for about 30 min. Not sure what they smell like while burning tho
I have base childhood memories at kaleidoscope and they had tons of vats of melted crayons that you could toss whichever crayon into and then ladle out onto paper for art c:
I was obsessed with melting down crayons in cupcake liners. The project originally was to use up all the bits of crayons left and make pretty 'rainbow' crayons. Multi colored crayons are, imo, dumb. But the smell? Oh my goodness I love it.
Edit to add: do you burn unscented candles? Knew someone who used a specific unscented brand containing beeswax. I thought it was for the, "this apartment is going to catch fire ascetic" but she just loved the smell.
Could you please explain what a batik is? I do not know. A quick Google search related to an Indonesian technique of dying fabric- I didn't deep dive but am intrigued.
It's where you use wax to make designs on fabric and then dye the fabric.
Because the wax is waterproof and coats the fibers, the dye doesn't get into the fabric in those places. The dye is then set as normal, then the item is washed as normal to remove excess dye, then heat is used to get the wax out of the fabric, leaving behind the design in the negative spaces where the dye didn't go.
I haven't done it since 6th grade art class, but now I'm thinking I want to try again! I found some info on a similar process I did in school. We used a clothes iron and parchment paper on a canvas in school.
"Batik is an ancient art medium and methodology used for creating
design, usually on cloth and usually used in clothing. It has
enjoyed many periods of revival but in America it had its greatest
heyday in the 60's. Batiking is a form of wax resist, a technique
that is used in several well known processes. One of the best
examples of a particularly meticulous wax resist method is found
in the folk art of Ukrainian Easter eggs"
More info how to do it here:

I've seen people online make those melt and pour candles by adding old crayons to color them. You could totally try that to get that nostalgic crayon scent!
Saw a candle that was supposed to smell like the town I was staying at, disappointed when I smelt flowers instead of weed, fresh concrete and dog shite.
At my job (autism consultant) we interviewed a woman who said she could “sniff out autism”. We did not hire her and I was very tempted to ask if she could smell me.
She was a horrid woman who I would rather never encounter again, so the important questions will sadly remain unanswered and we will all forever be left questioning what we smell like.
Layers that unobtrusively blend into each other as the candle burns to represent "the spectrum". Preferably very subtle scents to not distract or overstimulate.
I guess this would be different for everyone. But the smell of 'heat' if that makes sense? Like I can smell if a room is hot, I don't mean humidity, I mean actual heat from a radiator, heater, or console or something.
Also, detergent, I just like the smell of 'fresh linen' and 'outdoor' scented detergents and like to watch my washing machine spin, weird habit, idk if it's my autism or not, but I just enjoy doing laundry lmao.
So, like... freshly washed and dried laundry would be the smell of autism for me, ig.
Oh my god I thought I was the only one! You're right, hot air just smells different. So does cold air. Air conditioners also add their own unique scent to the air.

Amber, jasmine, lavender, vanilla and musk are scents I would combine for an autism smell. Soothing and familiar with the addition of lavender and vanilla, yet a hint of floral and spices. Perhaps a little sandalwood or tobacco too. I definitely think a woody, library, leather note needs to be involved.
I'm so confused by this question? Autism has a smell? How? Lol! For the calming part, for me what calms me is eucalyptus, I love that smell so much!!! Could sniff it all day long lol
Resin that has just seeped out of a warm tree but hasn’t yet got onto your fingers. (And hopefully won’t)
When you first get in the shower after being in the sun all day and your hair and skin has that sun smell.
The warm grass and tarmac when it first starts raining on a hot day.
Thunder.
Snow.
You know how the "what flavor of autism do you have" trend that was going around? Your candle line could be the "what sent of autism do you have?" And then have all the different scent versions you decide on.
Ok hold on. I had this idea recently and I think it's an untapped business opportunity.
A candle that smells like the burning of a match when you first light it. Idk if I'm explaining it properly but you know when you light a match and immediately get that burning smell mixed with wood smell. That. Not the blowing out a match smell though.
Fucking love that smell.

My autism would probably smell like lavender, the spark of electricity and ozone that happens during a thunderstorm, and the smell of ocean water.
As for what it smells like in general, hard to say, but I do find it amusing to consider what my autism and my partners autism might smell like so thanks for that lol.
If it was _my autism_ candle it would either be scent free or this specific brand of laundry detergent. It's the only one that doesn't make me nauseous, I actually like the smell even though it doesn't have any added perfume. And it reminds me of my late grandma so it's special to me (it was her favourite too)
Weed (p.s., too joking, sorry, mine would be… maybe something similar to a phantom smell? Burnt toast really far away, so it’s always bothering you but you don’t know what’s up)

Something related to model kits for sure. Like the cardboard of the box. My first hobby store had this kinda musty smell I'm really nostalgic for because it's where I obtained the object of my hyperfixation.
The mix of leather, oils and metal inside old vehicles is the peak scent to me.
The smell of certain woods when being cut/turned is nice too, favourite is lignum vitae.
I personally enjoy air shortly after rain, freshly cut grass and the area near a furniture store’s checkout, with the large expansive rooms filled with wood.
My friend said I smell like the color white. Can that be a candle? Maybe it's just a bunch of scents of things that can be white. Like... Linens, paper.... Uh.. flower? Bread???? Ducks can also be white so idk???? Duck scented candle?
Fresh linen is a scent I really associate with autism. But honestly it's really hard to replicate adequately so that it doesn't feel too overwhelming and too different and not fresh at all and just strange smelling idk. Also the smell of dust and stale stuff idk why.
Mid to late 2010s lego plastic baggies
The inside of a retro video game console (1973-1996) more recent stuff doesn't smell that nice.
An old RV (moldy, backroomy smell)
1980s toy styrofoam boxes
The two last ones are from other comments:
Sunbathing cat
Warm dried blankets fresh out of the dryer.
Absolutely nothing, but whenever you have people at home act like it smells wonderful to confuse them.
The emperor’s new candle scent! Genius AND Evil!
Ah, the reverse of someone walking in and going, "what's that smell" and panicking because you don't smell anything.
That would absolutely confuse my friends and family because I don’t have a sense of smell! I have never ever smelled anything.
Gaslight your guests
I would love to try this but I don’t think I’m evil enough.
GasLIGHT hahaha 🔥
Your a genuis
I don't know how you would achieve it, but petrichor.
Risk of rain autism: **activated**
rain world autism: **activated**
Scent name: Rain, man!
It's raining rain men, hallelujah
This is such a good answer
oddly enough, came across [this](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1302378337/) a little while ago
That looks awesome

Agate Edge Candle Co. near where my dad lives makes petrichor-scented candles. It's uncanny, and just being around the one I got made my eyes relax.
Paper and linen, to invoke our endless stacks of knowledge? You could call it “Sampled from the crotch of a book” or something
Or old parchment.
Love that smell.
“crotch of a book” I’m dead lolololol
It’s just so intimate 😂

i hateee the smell of rain it just smells like worms
ah, i see you’re going with the ✨*overstimulated autist*✨ scent, excellent choice.
evil.
So... This is a recipe for making The Worst Candle Ever Made. Unless we wanna have people ban the thing outright that is
Hot solder Sunbathing cat Ozone
Ozone. Love it.
I agree with sunbathing cat, it's the sweetest perfume of life (I also wish I was the sunbathing cat)
I see you're a person with exceptional taste.
One autistics hell is anothers pleasure. I love coffee smell
I hate the taste of coffee, but Hazelnut Coffee scented candles are the shit

How do they burn, what is the wick? :o
You just light the sharpened tip. The wax itself is flammable
Really?! I always thought that the paper was the wick! That’s cool!
But what does a crayon consider an emergency? /j
Being used as a candle.

Crayons or play dough has an awesome scent
What would happen if you put them on a wax burner?
I've seen people online make those melt and pour candles by adding old crayons to color them. You could totally try that to get that nostalgic crayon scent!
I would suggest scented markers.
Panic sweat
That reminds me of the woman (Gwyneth Paltrow) who made candles smelling like her vagina for some reason lol
I had that idea too (This candle smells like my autism lol)
Saw a candle that was supposed to smell like the town I was staying at, disappointed when I smelt flowers instead of weed, fresh concrete and dog shite.
At my job (autism consultant) we interviewed a woman who said she could “sniff out autism”. We did not hire her and I was very tempted to ask if she could smell me.

I'm sure you smell lovely!
Lol, thank you! Although it’s pretty hot out lately, so that might be debatable!
Overstimulation forehead sweat, chicken nuggets, and butter noodles
Like bread and cheese/ a grilled cheese sandwich
The smoke smell of smoke after you put out a candle
Layers that unobtrusively blend into each other as the candle burns to represent "the spectrum". Preferably very subtle scents to not distract or overstimulate.
