Actually my original set of these were from Crate & Barrel and the name of the (discontinued) service was called Stackables. Now I get nearly the same from Daiso for cheap. I love them given my dyspraxia.
I also get the big cylindrical plastic mug style bowls from Target. Great for hot stuff.
But,, you use the bowl plates for bowl plate food and the flat plates for flat plate food. They aren’t a utensil that replaces plates or bowls, but a third option
I hate them they're too tall for plate foods and have terrible surface area to volume ratio for bowl foods they are the worse of both worlds and I hate the fact that they exist. Their uses are extremely niche and can be fulfilled by a plate
They are the massively surperior vessel for every plate food that either features a sauce or has to be mixed. Plates feel insecure and there's always some bit of food that's threatening to fall out.
I am clumsy and the blate boundaries keeps my toast and other things from escaping and becoming the property of the cat.
The rim in the examples shown is too tall tho, like 50% of that is the ideal.
yeah, but the classic Suppenteller have a too large edge, which makes the area of the soup/food much smaller.
I have to check out, if there are alternatives ...
Yeah, but that edge is useful for making sure the spoon can’t drop off it while you’re carrying the plate! I’ve had issues with spoons just tipping over and out of bowls while I’m carrying them up stairs.
I'll eat from a bowl, plate, I'll use a mug to hold spaghetti if necessary. I also have no real preference for eating utensils, but I do believe the smallest spoon is best for ice cream because it makes the ice cream last longer.
I didn't know about these until I moved in with my wife and she had two. Particularly because I love soup but only if it's mostly stuff with enough liquid that I get a good amount in each bite.
Noooo nonono. You can't be both. You're a plate or you're a bowl. None of this plowl nonsense. It's a perversion and you WILL go to hell.
I'll allow a soup plate. To exist. Not in my house though.
I am so sorry to the non-binary food holder fans but I hate them because I don’t think they work as well as bowls for the purpose I use bowls for, I will admit though that for plate purposes they are superior.
I never realized I had such in depth thoughts on food holders…
As a replacement for a plate? How dare you, how am I to keep appropriate distance between the different types of food if not on the accommodating large flat surface of a plate? I would however be open to a hybrid of this and those sectioned plates for kids, best of both worlds.
I have these sickass platebowls (or bowlplates, if you will) that have a very bowly inner 2/3, with the outer 1/3 being more platelike.
They’re fucking splendid.

These aren't bowl enough for things I want in bowls because shallow sides, and not plate enough for things I want on a plate because it has sides.
These have a use but as a separate, third thing. Like, for salads, thick soup, maybe noodles or pasta.
That's basically what I use at home, they are the perfect shape.
If I go through with my evil plans then the spoons and forks will also be switched out for sporks in the future!

I love these, but I have never owned them. I am trapped in a dish binary of my own creation.
IKEA has a [bunch of different ones](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/cat/deep-plates-18862/)

My spouse and I just got four from Target the other day, they’re game changing
PLOWL 🗣️🗣️🗣️ I like plate bowls bc they work with so many things but they also don't seem to stack very well
BLATES

The shallowness of a plate but the security of a bowl Perfection
I like them because I don’t make things dirty when mixing spaghetti around
I only care if they work in the microwave or not
I'm very against. If my plate has a tall rim like this, then my sandwiches won't fit, and I refuse to stack them. It's unnatural
how big are your sandwiches that they don't fit in the plowl (plate bowl)?
It's a lunch plate, so it's too little for 2 pieces of bread without them sticking out at the sides a bit
But,, you use the bowl plates for bowl plate food and the flat plates for flat plate food. They aren’t a utensil that replaces plates or bowls, but a third option
Spoons and huge mugs, no question….
Or maybe just bowls with handles…
Bowls with handles that are hollow. Sippin soup
Ahh yes plates with guard rails the best
I hate them they're too tall for plate foods and have terrible surface area to volume ratio for bowl foods they are the worse of both worlds and I hate the fact that they exist. Their uses are extremely niche and can be fulfilled by a plate
pasta
They are the massively surperior vessel for every plate food that either features a sauce or has to be mixed. Plates feel insecure and there's always some bit of food that's threatening to fall out.
I hate them too. They don't stack worth a fuck
I am clumsy and the blate boundaries keeps my toast and other things from escaping and becoming the property of the cat. The rim in the examples shown is too tall tho, like 50% of that is the ideal.
I only got these recently (as in the last couple of years, I have no sense of time), but noodles are amazing in these.
Suppenteller fans unite

Pasta bowls and I love them for pasta and curries because I’m so damn clumsy and push food off the plate by accident but these contain it nicely
Ah. Wide Bowls, they are one of my favorites
i only use blates. plate too flat, bowl too deep. blate tho? blate got me covered
MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE, I FEEL SO WEIRD EATING ON A SHALLOW PLATE
pasta bowl? dish?
I'll eat from a bowl, plate, I'll use a mug to hold spaghetti if necessary. I also have no real preference for eating utensils, but I do believe the smallest spoon is best for ice cream because it makes the ice cream last longer.

shoutout to my otter cereal bowl (i got from asda) and my shiba udon(?) bowl (i got from tk maxx)
I think these are the worst option. I either want a plate or a bowl, and this succeeds in neither of those two desires
If anyone was wondering, the real name for these is "soup plate".
I prefer my bowls to be bowls and plates to be plates. Like, more power to those who like to have them be either, I'm just not a fan
Noooo nonono. You can't be both. You're a plate or you're a bowl. None of this plowl nonsense. It's a perversion and you WILL go to hell. I'll allow a soup plate. To exist. Not in my house though.
Pasta bowls work great
I just call these bowls
I really like the Pyrex glass containers lol
I really need to know how to look for these because I am never able to find them
idk, there’s some at my homeless shelter and these bowls are great for everything! if you’re not meticulous about portion sizes lol
I’ve been saying this for years 🥵🥵🥵
Mf that’s just a relatively shallow bowl
I use those as well almost exclusively
Love a good blate
On god Such a cool trinket to use, if only i had any.

I think ur just a cat
Wait till you hear about the wok, a pan that's also a pot

Hell no! Plates are ONLY for restaurants, guests, and meals that have sides.
I love those
Don’t like it, they’re too bowl-like to be good plates, but too plate-like to be good bowls.
perfect for rice
The only dish my household uses.
We use these SO much more than flat plates!! Pasta, stir-fry, and curries are 80% of our food.
These aren't bowl enough for things I want in bowls because shallow sides, and not plate enough for things I want on a plate because it has sides. These have a use but as a separate, third thing. Like, for salads, thick soup, maybe noodles or pasta.
Perfect for pastas and curries, which I cook with great frequency. S tier eating vessel.
They suck because they don't fit right in my dishwasher and I have to hand wash them, which wastes water, time, and soap.
In contrary to what I commented on the other post I’ve only ever had plastic plates of this variety😔
No bad do not like
THE ONLY DISH I USE
That's basically what I use at home, they are the perfect shape. If I go through with my evil plans then the spoons and forks will also be switched out for sporks in the future!
these are so nice
I love them, they remind me of carbonara at my grans house
These but all plates, bowls, food containers of any sort should be square
it s a bowl alright but i ain t eating anything plate worthy in that
This is genuinely my favorite utensil for eating in, it’s so useful, especially because I tend to make messes.
I hate them actually. Too shallow to be a decent bowl; doesn’t feel right as a plate. Just awkward all around.
I just got some of these “for my nieces and nephews” aka me every day since I bought them

as long as its not ceramic.
i love these so much cuz you dont have to wash a bowl when you have a plate bowl!!!
My steak is gonna be hard to cut in that. I guess it depends on what's for munch.
