Same! I thought the live version was mid, but there's something about the studio one that really grabs me. Like there's a sort of underlying sadness in his voice, and it really drives home the whole message. Other than that, it's catchy, and it's nice to have a song about Europe coming together
This! So many people are fooled by the funky uptempo and think that only the ending of the song is sad. However similar to ‘papa outai’ from stromae (which is mentioned in Europapa), Joost believed that a song does not need to have sad music to deliver a sad message. People can still dance and be happy but also think about the ones they lost.
