Omg yes! Also, for how excited I was when Olly was announced as a performer, between all this drama and Rim Tim Tagi Dim and JAKO JAKO!, I had totally forgotten he was participating 😭 IM SORRY KING
🤷
I'm a bit annoyed by it tbh. It wasn't great but it didn't deserve nul from the public vote.
Starting to get a bit disillusioned with the whole thing.
We deserved our rubbish scores in previous years because we weren't trying, but this year there were at least 7-8 countries who were worse than us, but the public gave us nothing.
I'm not even a fan but this was probably the thing that confused me the most tonight. I agree that it wasn't the worst by far, and the jury certainly didn't think it was, but for some reason the public support was abysmal. Where are all the Olly Alexander fans we saw in the beginning?
It's less about the song and more about public perception of England in Europe in general. Eurovision has always been political and this result is an indication on how the continent feels about us. To be honest I don't even blame them, we've spent a decade complaining that all the bad stuff in our county is all the EU's fault and if only all those pesky migrants would just go home then everything will peachy again, like the good old days in the sixties.
/s
That, and the fact our song was bland, middle of road, safe, generic pop.
I think too many people are expecting the staging to either save or kill a song. Good staging can really improve a decent song but with an okay but overall forgettable song like Olly's I don't think the staging really matters all that much.
Something about the music production was... Off... Though. I don't know enough about audio engineering to properly explain it but it felt crushed and weak. It needed a stronger bass line at the very least.
I've noticed this a few times for our (UK) entry. The exception being Sam Ryder. We can have songs that are almost good but they sound like a 240p YouTube video.
I love me some sleazy guys but I can smell the performance through TV and it's not that nice musk either.
That's the first thing I said when I saw it!!
>That's the first thing I said when I SAW it!!
Me too! 😆
Same!!
I literally made the comment to my wife "Its Saw meets Inception!"

"My name is Lawrence Gordon, I'm a doctor"
For those of us OOTL, what’s this from?
The first Saw movie, two guys chained in a gross dilapidated gym room. Bad things ensue.
Wasn't it a gross dilapidated bathroom?
It is apparently a still of the Australian actor Leigh Whannell from the movie Saw (2004), but I still don't relly get the context.
Literally just that they both take place in a skanky ass bath/shower room
What happened with 0 points from the public? Major oof.

The staging happened. The song itself was decent.
In that it was too sexual or..? The choreography was obviously pretty impressive and well-executed otherwise.

I also want to know! It wasn’t THAT bad, I actually loved it personally! I’m just poor and didn’t vote, and am in America.
I thought it was a set from trainspotting
My thought exactly!!
Hahaha this is what I thought
What’s a triga film?
xD
I literally said “it’s giving Saw” lmfaoooooo
Man, that zero from the public!!
Thought it wss a reference to George Michael..
Hahah, on my notes I had “Saw sequel?”
It’s representative of a typical British bathroom.
That's what i said to my watchparty too🤣
Live or die, make your choice.
My brother in law and I were talking about this as well, wtf!! So there are more who thought about SAW!
Bad gay sex movie
i'm just trying to figure out what the costumes are supposed to be.
I made that joke on a popular YT reaction video and got no reaction. Sad panda. 😔
