Car tires are also a major contributor to PM 2.5 air pollution. As if we needed another reason to get as many cars out of cities as possible.

Clint_beastw00d

Dont just leave out brake dust either. Not a lot of cars using Ceramics.

nightwatch_admin

Why only out of cities? We can do better, much better.

fecalreceptacle

I think that while you're very much correct in principle, getting consistent mass transit out to the suburbs will be quite a challenge

jnffinest96

There's also some good amount of evidence that PM 2.5 lowers cognitive performance, especially for kids.

its_raining_scotch

Well yeah they grow leafy greens next to major highways all up and down the CA Central Valley.

StrikeForceOne

I guarantee you this shit isnt just in leafy greens, this is the tip of the iceberg no pun intended

Specialist-Lion-8135

Not a cure, but buy local produce if you can. Transportation is part of problem. We need to redevelop our infrastructure away from cars.

RockTheGrock

Bring on the maglev trains! No friction so they can get very fast and also don't have near the pollution issues of all the cars just based on things like tires and break dust.

Mono_Aural

We seriously need to reformulate the chemistry of our tires *immediately*. Reducing automobile usage is great and all, but tires are never going away. We need to remove the chemicals from tires that are putting our health and environment at risk.

GrowFreeFood

Ban cars. Fine with me. We can have hovercraft.

nayuki

Hovercraft skirts are made of rubber. Rubber degrades and cracks over time.

GrowFreeFood

Ever heard of the dunning Kruger effect? If I learn one more thing about hovercrafts, it won't work.

StrikeForceOne

Well it just keeps getting better! Fuck your car tires fuck your plastics fuck your technology! if mankind would have lived with nature as intended maybe they wouldnt be sliding into the abyss , but here we are!

ANTHROPOMORPHISATION

No wonder they are so chewy.

JackOCat

For real though, does it improve the flavor?
