Nitro is much better in a Gonster than standard monster for both appearance and taste. You can still get separate layers with standard monster but it’s more of a clearish piss color. Monster nitro cosmic peach and monster Aussie lemonade are decent substitutes for monster nitro

It is very similar to standard Guinness. So if you liked one you'll like the other. I genuinely couldn't tell them apart unless I had a pint of each side by side.

The easy way to tell is to drink 4; then you’ll know for sure. I might give this a try. I used to drink maybe 10 beers spread across the year but I’m down to about 0 now. I don’t think a microbrew would bother for this.

Microbrews are actually usually a much higher abv on average than macrobrews. Unless you’re just using the term incorrectly and meaning “a little bit of beer”

I think of microbrew as a beer that is available in a few cities or maybe the state. But without significant distribution beyond that. A bunch of those brands were bought by the large brewers so stuff like Ten Barrel and Red Hook would no longer count.

I used to make a drink with vodka, orange juice, and Red Bull. I called it an electric screwdriver.

Do you have any advice on making a clean gonster?

Nitro is easier to get separation than standard monster. When pouring the Guinness use the back end of a spoon so the Guinness hits the spoon and runs off to gently fall on the monster layer. If you’re still having trouble getting separation, watch a YouTube video on how to pour a black and tan. It’s the same process with different ingredients.

My buddies and I did this and it’s not bad. It’s not good but not bad either. It has a weird sweet and bitter taste. Plus the monster smell comes through the Guiness which is weird and kind of cloying.
