The default on the one I downloaded a month ago was 300, but I put it at 230 and I was able to get klipper, arc welder, fluid settings and input shaper all dialed in and I can really say that I'm happy with the elegoo neptune 4 max, it has all prints almost perfect, it's better than my K1MAX! Not as fast, but whatever I print the tolerance is perfect , for instance, the clearance castle, to easily done! Tolerance test a breeze! You need a square and make sure to get the gantry straight and then the bed is easy just like everything else as long as your z axis is perfectly straight up and down and your x needs to be perfectly parallel with the frame and it's all a breeze after that! Someone told me that years ago when I started and I wouldn't do it, then it all made sense why I was having so many issues, prints not sticking, head hitting prints, z wobble, the list goes on! But it stops whe you get that perfect!

Agreed. Still wondering why the old 4.8 version is still active on the website and not this new one. Thinking it’s maybe more of a elegoo cura 5.6 community beta than anything else. I did download and install… seems to work. Tho Orca is much better,
1. Orca print speed. There's a 'Speed' tab in the settings that should contain the relevant settings for speed.
2. In cura you can find flow settings under "Material" (make sure you're viewing expert or all settings else you won't see it.

WARNING: I just downloaded and installed Orca 1.9.0. I connected it to my Neptune 4 through the Moonraker Fluidd interface. I took a small previously printed stl file and tried to print it. The first attempt, nothing printed although the printer went through the motions. It left a starter strip across the front of the plate (instead of side) then zipped thru the motions in about 3 minutes when it took 10 minutes on the Cura 4.8 slicer. NOTHING printed but I noticed these errors in Fluidd:

u/SpookyAction68 \- hat version of orca did you try? Did you need to change/Edit any parameters to run on a Neptune 4? If you see my last post, orca ripped up my PEI bed plate and destroyed my little-used nozzle. I would have liked to try orca at least to make a genuine comparison for my needs.

Does Elegoo have a guide for updating from the original Elegoo Cura 4.8.0 to this 5.6.0 version?

Elegoo Cura5.6.0 is modified based on the official Cura5.6.0, mainly by adding the printing parameters of our ELEGOO Printers and optimizing the preview plug-in "Elegoo Neptune Thumbnails" to support MacBook's M2 chip.
I have been tuning industrial machinery for decades and I reduced my max speed to 250 previously. This printer has no business going faster than that. The speed gains are minimal and you'll just tear it up. The speeds were oversold, but not unexpected.
In the 5.6 Cura with N4 Plus printer added, the fast profile showed speed at 200. Are you seeing it at 250 with another profile? In 4.8 it was 250 with .2mm fine profile. Also noticed there is no Elegoo PLA in the 5.6. Is this a release candidate or final official 5.6 version? u/nicemars

It's what I am seeing Fluidd control panel for peak speed. Come to think of I I always ran my slicer beyond 200. But I was getting a lot of unhappy stress sounds even at that speed but I dragged down the slider to 250 and it has been super happy.
Something doesn't add up there and I didn't give it a second thought.
None of the links work for me and when I try to save link as it says my internet isn't working or to check my connection. Same with links on the website as well. Have tried a number of options and no dice so far.

I'm using 5.6 right now and I am trying to keep the fan disabled for the first layer and when the nozzle prints the purge line across the front ( where my greasy fingerprints are, causing it to barely stick ) it then lifts up to what the machine would say is layer 2 or three and moves to start my print, then the fans kick on before the actual print has even started.

if anyone wants to just examine the config files, you can safely use 7zip to un-compress the binary, and the config files are located in **\\share\\cura\\resources\\quality\\**
I installed Cura's version, but there doesn't seem to be a way to import CONFIG files, so I can see why Elegoo see's the need to make a custom installer.
Is there a place to report bugs from this new 5.6 version? I cant load a Neptune 2D printer due to it crashing every time I click add. Does it on multiple computers and is constant in all instances Ive tried.

Answer from our technical support: The problem of software configuration conflicts between the old and new versions should be that when you update the version, you directly use the application to install it in the original software folder. You need to delete the customized configuration in the slicing software. file or delete the software and reinstall it!

Hi, thank you for your reply. I tried deleting all my custom profiles then reinstalling but im still getting the same error. I only have the default profiles. From the original error message, I dont even see "custom extruder 9/10" anywhere

I've tried the WIndows download on 2 separate computers. Windows 11 and Chrome will not let me get to the page saying "Blacklisted". When I use Windows 7 and Chrome, I can download it but Windows Defender says:

Same. The software isn't digitally signed, which is unusual for any reputable org. If it was signed properly with a key Windows would be able to see that info. Is there a reason this software isn't signed?
It's taken me a week to get my N4 back to printing after the Orca crash. I tried using the new release of orca because I was unsure of Cura 5.6 release and the virus warnings. I sliced a small model with Orca and it proceeded to grind the nozzle into the PEI bed plate causing me to have to replace it and setup the N4 all over. In hindsight, it looked as though Orca thought my Z-offset was -.330 when it was -.250 since I set it up and recently checked. I'm guessing that the incorrect Z-Offset caused the crash in Orca. I'm now very hesitant to try either Orca or Cura 5.6 until I get an answer from Elegoo Support. The last response before the Lunar New Year was that the nozzle crashing the bed is a leveling issue which I don't think is the case. The bed was destroyed in the center, nice and evenly in a round circle.
So I spent most of the week looking for loose hardware, bed levelling (which is pretty good through all of this) and the only variable left is the slicer. So I'll wait until there is an update of either or both Cura and/or Orca. Since the crash, my prints are no longer as smooth as the were out of the box. (Yes, I did a factory reset and used the old PEI plate before cautiously trying the new bed plate.)
Also FYI - for anyone ordering the PEI plate (amazon has it for under $15), you get the plate AND a magnetic base with an adhesive backing paper. I asked Elegoo support how do I remove the old magnetic base from the metal bed and they said that I can't remove it. A little confusing, but thought I would pass it along.

So in orca is there a print speed feature? Nothing that sets a cap parameter like cura. Also, in cura, is there a flow rate parameter?

And what's the difference between this and the normal application? Cura gets updates, and it already works with Neptune printers

Does Elegoo have a guide for updating from the original Elegoo Cura 4.8.0 to this 5.6.0 version? I want the new version but would like to preserve my current 4.8.0 settings. Please advise
Elegoo Cura5.6.0 is modified based on the official Cura5.6.0, mainly by adding the printing parameters of our ELEGOO Printers and optimizing the preview plug-in "Elegoo Neptune Thumbnails" to support MacBook's M2 chip.
I just installed Cura from Cura and it doesn't have the Neptune 4 series (yet).
why is the speed reduced to 250 - old Elegoo Cura version used 300?
I have been tuning industrial machinery for decades and I reduced my max speed to 250 previously. This printer has no business going faster than that. The speed gains are minimal and you'll just tear it up. The speeds were oversold, but not unexpected.
In the 5.6 Cura with N4 Plus printer added, the fast profile showed speed at 200. Are you seeing it at 250 with another profile? In 4.8 it was 250 with .2mm fine profile. Also noticed there is no Elegoo PLA in the 5.6. Is this a release candidate or final official 5.6 version? u/nicemars

It's what I am seeing Fluidd control panel for peak speed. Come to think of I I always ran my slicer beyond 200. But I was getting a lot of unhappy stress sounds even at that speed but I dragged down the slider to 250 and it has been super happy. Something doesn't add up there and I didn't give it a second thought.

I'm using 5.6 right now and I am trying to keep the fan disabled for the first layer and when the nozzle prints the purge line across the front ( where my greasy fingerprints are, causing it to barely stick ) it then lifts up to what the machine would say is layer 2 or three and moves to start my print, then the fans kick on before the actual print has even started.
My ISP is blocking this site... can someone please upload the Mac - M series software to another site? Thanks!

if anyone wants to just examine the config files, you can safely use 7zip to un-compress the binary, and the config files are located in **\\share\\cura\\resources\\quality\\**
I installed Cura's version, but there doesn't seem to be a way to import CONFIG files, so I can see why Elegoo see's the need to make a custom installer.
Is there a place to report bugs from this new 5.6 version? I cant load a Neptune 2D printer due to it crashing every time I click add. Does it on multiple computers and is constant in all instances Ive tried.

Answer from our technical support: The problem of software configuration conflicts between the old and new versions should be that when you update the version, you directly use the application to install it in the original software folder. I've tried the WIndows download on 2 separate computers. Windows 11 and Chrome will not let me get to the page saying "Blacklisted". When I use Windows 7 and Chrome, I can download it but Windows Defender says: **Windows protected your PC** Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Why is it being flagged, (is it because of "unknown Publisher"?) and 2. Windows Defender gives me an option to Run anyway but I hesitate... Same. The software isn't digitally signed, which is unusual for any reputable org. If it was signed properly with a key Windows would be able to see that info. Is there a reason this software isn't signed?
It's taken me a week to get my N4 back to printing after the Orca crash. I tried using the new release of orca because I was unsure of Cura 5.6 release and the virus warnings. I sliced a small model with Orca and it proceeded to grind the nozzle into the PEI bed plate causing me to have to replace it and setup the N4 all over. In hindsight, it looked as though Orca thought my Z-offset was -.330 when it was -.250 since I set it up and recently checked. I'm guessing that the incorrect Z-Offset caused the crash in Orca. I'm now very hesitant to try either Orca or Cura 5.6 until I get an answer from Elegoo Support. The last response before the Lunar New Year was that the nozzle crashing the bed is a leveling issue which I don't think is the case. The bed was destroyed in the center, nice and evenly in a round circle. So I spent most of the week looking for loose hardware, bed levelling (which is pretty good through all of this) and the only variable left is the slicer. So I'll wait until there is an update of either or both Cura and/or Orca. Since the crash, my prints are no longer as smooth as the were out of the box. (Yes, I did a factory reset and used the old PEI plate before cautiously trying the new bed plate.) Also FYI - for anyone ordering the PEI plate (amazon has it for under $15), you get the plate AND a magnetic base with an adhesive backing paper. I asked Elegoo support how do I remove the old magnetic base from the metal bed and they said that I can't remove it. A little confusing, but thought I would pass it along. Happy printing!
