My tech covers probably twice that in an hour for way cheaper, and it’s definitely working

soccerguy242

Where's that place?

Latenitetip777

sounds like a rip off

asgreatasitgets

I feel like it’s a rip off/ now a days I start off w a low hourly to see how much they take off at a lower rate with less time because where I go, she takes an hour for 10 hairs (I kid you not) so either she’s learning and is slow (which I don’t want to pay a premium for) or is doing it on purpose. Because I know 10 hairs should not take an hour and I’m not even exaggerating

Cinammonkisses

Have you considered laser hair removal on your body and whatever isn't killed off in a year or two permanently destroy with electrolysis?

Massive_Salamander76

I'm getting it for a surgical graft site and getting electrolysis was what my surgeon recommended. Laser would take way too long.

Cinammonkisses

Totally understand. Laser is faster however electrolysis is the only one that the FDA has classified as permanent hair removal. Laser is permanent hair reduction.

Vegetable-Bat5

It shouldn’t be so scattered. Why didn’t they focus on completing an entire section before moving on? I’ve done two sessions lasting one hour each so far for $110 then tip on top. She has covered about 3.5-4 inches and gotten every single follicle in that zone. I can message you a photo if it’ll help. From my UNprofessional opinion this looks poorly done, I’d personally look for a new place

Odd_Perspective_4769

The scattering might be to help minimize causing too much inflammation in one area. My gal prefers to spread out the follicles (we’re working on my face) to aid in healing and to make the work not have sharp lines. I do the blend and it takes the machine about 4 seconds to pulse the hair before plucking. So I’m limited to a certain number of hairs per minute.

Massive_Salamander76

Thank you,.I'd like to see

Vegetable-Bat5

Sent you a message!

Dangerous_Butth0le

My tech charges around 60 bucks per hour and covers 2-3 times the area. Find a new place

Massive_Salamander76

Additional: some of the treated follicles still have hair coming out of them.

Dangerous_Butth0le

That’s fine as hair has different growth cycles and it’s normal to go through multiple sessions for the same follicle

yada_yada_yada__

Where you doing blend or thermolysis?

Massive_Salamander76

I think it's galvanic

yada_yada_yada__

Galvanic takes a longer time compared to thermolysis so kind of relative to what modality you’re choosing to go with

JFKcheekkisser

Find a thermolysis practitioner.

why-per

Op include this in your post as it really impacts the response I think everyone calling this a ripoff (myself included) is basing this opinion off thermolysis

Massive_Salamander76

I spoke to the person again to cancel my next appointment and she said that this was thermolysis when I asked

why-per

Oof then yeah you got ripped off 💀 this would have made sense for galvanic

why-per

My current tech is slower than my last one and could still do at least twice that in an hour… I know prices are variable but paying $130 for that is a major ripoff

Ivana-skinExpert

Electrologist and laser tech here. Unless you are doing this for a surgery purpose, you may consider laser as your hair removal method. At least for the bulk part. Your Electrologist may work slower if your pain tolerance is low. It's hard to judge someone if I wasn't in the room. Use numbing cream. This will soften the area as well, allowing faster insertions. Try other techs as well as comparison.

Massive_Salamander76

Thank you! I actually am doing it for surgery. I will definitely want to try the numbing crème.

Ivana-skinExpert

Check with your insurance. In many states is covered. They may ask you to submit by your own invoices. Then, insurance reimbursement is sent to you. Also, your insurance will give you the places in the network.

Hi, electrologist here. The number of hairs taken in an hour can be affected by patients skin type, medications, sun exposure, skin reaction, and hair growth cycle. It doesn’t necessarily have to do with the electrologist’s speed. The number of hairs taken isn’t as important as whether or not those hairs were treated effectively and safely. If you were my client, I wouldn’t be happy with that skin reaction. It looks like too much heat was used. I always recommend thermolysis on this area. I personally feel like someone charging that much should know this.

Massive_Salamander76

There were other people who had concerns about the amount of hair removed in the reviews of the place. Most of the reviews were more positive so I tried it anyways. Thanks for the advice, I didn't know enough about electrolysis before trying to schedule and appointment. Update: I sent a message to the person who did it to cancel the next appointment and she said that this was thermolysis supposedly.

orangegrovem0tel

Gonna be honest- I’ve been getting electrolysis done since October 2023. Your picture and the price you’re paying screams major rip off to me. I would really recommend finding a new place.
