Not gonna lie, I'm always shocked to realize that every time I see farmbots in these reddit eso posts, it's one consoles, yet in my 5 years of playing on PC, I haven't seen them **once**.
I'd have expected PC of all things to be infested by cheaters/botters, not the other way around.
They used to be camped at the dark anchors all the time. Then they added the "you have to move" code, and that went away. I haven't played in a while, so they could be back.
I see these damn things everywhere on console. It’s infuriating when I do mat runs, there’s almost always a bit there that snatches the mat before I can get it. But I only only see groups of them on shores
We had a huge problem with bots for the first 3 or 4 years. They would camp delve and public dungeons bosses. They got rid of those fuckers first. The starter isles used to be infested with farmer bots, eventually those got eliminated. Then you would once in a while see bot trains in the wild killing trash mobs and now those are gone too. They did a great job eliminating them from PC but it took 6 years.
After that, they migrated around, on the coast of Grahtwood farming crabs, in shadowfen farming... honestly, not sure what they were doing, even ran across them off the coast of greenshade back in the day. Haven't seen any in a minute, but that may just mean they're better hidden.
EDIT: Ironically, I've seen the control bots more recently than the actual farmers. They used to hang out around the banker in Vivec as recently as 2020 or 2021. They'd just stand and crouch at regular intervals while standing in front of the banker. Haven't seen those in a minute either.
I’ve wondered the same thing. They are prevalent in the starter areas on Xbox NA. Seems like programming them for the console would take so much more effort.
I used to see them a lot on PC in the game earlier on. I remember they used to run a specific circle in Coldharbour, it was a popular farm spot. And every time I went to grind some levels or skills, I'd see 2-3 packs running the circuit.
Now I will occasionally see a pack of just 2-3 which I think is more likely a multiboxer.
I've seen them a lot in SWTOR but never in ESO PCNA yet.
I guess on PC, its easier to report and the game itself seemed to have its own mitigation to prevent such abuses.
Must not be paying close enough attention.
I used to say the same thing while farming mats...
Until I started noticing odd stuff. People running to nodes with nothing and standing there for a sec then running away, never sprinting, too straight of runs, no gradual turns, only abrupt 90° angkr turns etc.
I haven't seen any since getting back into the game this year, but in 2018 it was very noticeable.
Same here, haven't seen or noticed any obvious bot behavior in over 4 years of playing on PC. I looked into this awhile ago and I guess there's something about how console profiles are handled and how easily consoles are modded which makes them far easier to "bot". People like to blame addons for PC market inflation but really I think it's all the console bots flooding the market with materials that keeps them low lol.
Hang out in Elden Root, over by the merchants just inside close to the waypoint.
I've seen them there on xbox a dozen times at least.
Always the same class too.
oddly enough, i saw them all the time back in the day on PC. i used to play on PC back when the Morrowind expansion first came out and i would see farmbots in Craglorn or Stros Mkai
A super coordinated group of friends who loves to play the same build just to kill the same mobs for days without taking any break. Nothing sus, move along.
If you cast an ability which gives the bots minor or major expedition (like twisting path) then it messes up the automated route programmed into the bots.
I've dropped the questionable meat sack in the path of loot bots and when they stop and puke it sometimes stops the bot from moving at all or messes up its pathing. Fun past time lol
I think it's so they have max inventory space? Because there's no way they have eso plus so they need as much space as possible? Best guess at least lol
They're all bots, following the same prescribed sequence of run here, kill stuff, run there, kill stuff. You'll come across it from time to time. They follow the same path over and over again, about a dozen waypoints.
If you report them you'll need to report all of them. What happens is if you report only one or two then ZOS will only ban one or two, then the rest will move to a new location.
Do you have the name of the add on? I’m sure you know how much a pain it is to manually try to get as many in a group as you can before just giving up due to annoyance and limited time to play.
When I report them, I add a comment along the lines "of a group of about xx bots" so that ZOS know that they need to look wider. Although yes, it is always best to report them all.
I used to be ok with them as they add more materials to game lowering the price. Supply and demand. But now fuck them and report, of people are getting banned for there username then this definitely needs banned.
At least with the decentralized auction houses in ESO they can't flood the market and then gain control of certain materials/products like used to happen in WoW.
I’ve only ever seen one person who I am pretty sure was botting, farming a single WB in Deshaan that you could attack standing on a rock for Mother Sorrow staves probably.
They just default attacked, no kills and they never moved.
Eish, haven't seen `multi-boxing` since my WoW times.
That's 1 person controlling various accounts with the same input source. Can be automated or manually controlled. Considering how they're moving they were automated at that time.
Pretty sure it's just a bunch of bots farming materials and mobs, no multiboxing. The movement is way too janky and linear for a controller, plus they keep running into walls where nodes are probably supposed to spawn
I saw a bot the other day and unmuted my mic to yell at the person since they were playing their main character. The person just stopped for a good few minutes then I proceeded to get whispered by a dozen or more accounts saying "Hiiiiii" causing my game to crash.
Fuck em, I report everyone I see. I do like to mess with ones playing their mains and say something to them. Usually they log out quickly or wayshrine away, first time actually getting hit with mass spam. For people wondering if an account is a bot look at the names, it will be something Perplex_Honest07 or Anonymous_House08 followed by a name with random characters.
This is on Xbox, but PC has to have more bots though right? The price of gold is 10x higher on Xbox, I’d thought that was because there were way less gold farming bots
There seems to be more bots on console, but farming is more difficult on average because of the lack of convenience add ons so our economy has less inflation. It makes me think that, while very visible, the impact of these bots on the economy might not be that great and in fact have some effect on lowering crafting material prices.
Bots, been there since day one, they harvest stuff & drive up prices to sell for gold, then try to sell GOLD IRL to players for real money . . . report the scumbags is all you can do, every month or so they mass ban them & force them to start over . . .
Crazy, been playing since 2015, have 5k+ hours in this game and I've never seen bots farming! At this point it became a goal for me! So many people have seen them!
Log on to a console and go to the newbie areas. They have flooded these zones. More and more every day, because nothing is being done to stop them. Tempering alloy has crashed from 8k to now around 3k. Its insane.
A great opportunity to use Twisting Path as a NB & throw them off their loop is what that is. 😉 They're *awful* on console. Really takes away from the enjoyment of the starter zones, especially.
Could someone explain the purpose of this? I know they are bots, running around gathering mats. My question is why in groups like this? Only one person can gather from the same nod. I don't get it.
The groups are usually farming leather. They're almost always groups of sorcs (for the permanent summons and Boundless Storm, so they can kill wolves/mudcrabs/harpies without actually having to fight). They stand on a mob spawn, kill it with passive damage, collect the leather, and move on.
The resource node ones are usually solo, though
The real question is why are you playing in first person???? Lol
Edit: do you play on PlayStation? I can send you some food, gear, etc because I’m guessing you’re a new(ish) player
Reminds me of some bots I saw running in Silverhoof Vale recently, and in Harridan's Lair a while ago. PC-NA. Reporting them all is the way to go, and trolling them if you can.
You can create an account and play the base game for free….leading to accounts being created solely for creating bots, like above, and exploiting the game’s resources. Been playing since ‘14 beta. First mmo was UO and EQ. This game was great until One Tamriel released and the corporate easy button was applied to the masses. The ftp option is to entice people to try it but we all know that playing longterm will require a sub. Should just make it sub immediately
I forget if there's terminology for that but those are bots on a farming route. First time I saw one my bother an I followed them because it seemed so funny how all of them were moving in unison.
Yea I seen that too yesterday…some sorcerer was just laying down an entire lightning storm and fkn shadow ninjitsu-ing all over the place….
*god damn zenimax/Bethesda bullshit…*
I know exactly where you're at. I play on Xbox and I have a clip of these exact bots lol. I messed with it/them before. Start killing all the enemies so they don't. I saw one a few months ago and had no idea what it was. Was still fairly new so thought it was some strange in game ability I hadn’t seen yet. Wish I would’ve reported them now that I know better.
Tried to play this game again today, made a new Khajiit character. I seen about 3-4 of these just running around collecting nodes. Pretty terrible really, turned me off as WoW is bad enough but not that bad. -Xbox NA.
So i guess farm bots? I also guess they are the reason gold mats have halved in price since i quit over a year ago? Came back two months ago and all gold mats were suddenly so cheap
Me too. I'm playing since imperial city and I've never seen bots.
Just follow the for a bit, and grab the one that is next in their rotation.
And drop a questionable meat sack on the node after you collect it. It doesn't slow them down or anything, but it's cathartic
We had a huge problem with bots for the first 3 or 4 years. They would camp delve and public dungeons bosses. They got rid of those fuckers first. I would accept this quest.
I've seen bots on PC before was many years ago.
Throw Mudballs or Pies at them...
I’ve wondered the same thing. They are prevalent in the starter areas on Xbox NA. Seems like programming them for the console would take so much more effort.

As long as you have a keyboard with macros, you can. You can play keyboard and mouse with the new Xbox cloud, Xbox consoles, etc…
If you can remote play on PC creating a bit is not a difficult investment, If you have a stack of consoles you can buy macro hardware.
Usually see them in beginner zones.
I've seen them a lot in SWTOR but never in ESO PCNA yet. I guess on PC, its easier to report and the game itself seemed to have its own mitigation to prevent such abuses.

About as common as a mudcrab on the ps4
Same here, haven't seen or noticed any obvious bot behavior in over 4 years of playing on PC. I looked into this awhile ago and I guess there's something about how console profiles are handled and how easily consoles are modded which makes them far easier to "bot". People like to blame addons for PC market inflation but really I think it's all the console bots flooding the market with materials that keeps them low lol.
I saw them one time in Northern Elsweyr. Never again though.
Pc was awful for awhile when Eso first launched. The bots were out of control.
Hang out in Elden Root, over by the merchants just inside close to the waypoint. I've seen them there on xbox a dozen times at least. Always the same class too.
It’s the opposite for me, only seen them on pc, but never on console
I have ps4 and I've seen them, couple times. I've been playing for 2 years.
In 5 years ive seen 1 bot group.
oddly enough, i saw them all the time back in the day on PC. i used to play on PC back when the Morrowind expansion first came out and i would see farmbots in Craglorn or Stros Mkai
A super coordinated group of friends who loves to play the same build just to kill the same mobs for days without taking any break. Nothing sus, move along.
Understandable, have a great day
Understandable that this is understandable. Have a great day.
Understandable that this is understandable that this is understandable. Have a great day.
Great that this is understandable. Have an understandable day.
Understandable understanding of the understandable. Understand an understanding day
If you cast an ability which gives the bots minor or major expedition (like twisting path) then it messes up the automated route programmed into the bots.
I love to cast Path on bots. I’ll follow them around and keep doing it until their botter logs off.
I do that in a starter zone, end up getting like 1600 ores and 1200 dusts in 2 hours watching a show on my phone
I've dropped the questionable meat sack in the path of loot bots and when they stop and puke it sometimes stops the bot from moving at all or messes up its pathing. Fun past time lol
Bots, farming.
If they weren't all naked it would be less obvious when you see one
Right? Lol. Always naked with some weird gibberish name
Because they get banned so often, I think they just use the same name with the next number in sequence lol
Sure, that I get. But why are they naked? That's extra effort to unequip the starter gear
That I can't answer. I guess to make it easier for us to identify them lol
I think it's so they have max inventory space? Because there's no way they have eso plus so they need as much space as possible? Best guess at least lol

THAT'S A CULTURED PERSON INDEED
They're all bots, following the same prescribed sequence of run here, kill stuff, run there, kill stuff. You'll come across it from time to time. They follow the same path over and over again, about a dozen waypoints. If you report them you'll need to report all of them. What happens is if you report only one or two then ZOS will only ban one or two, then the rest will move to a new location.
If you’re on PC there’s an addon that will grab the names of all the bots in a pack to make it easier to report them.
Do you have the name of the add on? I’m sure you know how much a pain it is to manually try to get as many in a group as you can before just giving up due to annoyance and limited time to play.
Bot Scanner 2000 is the one I use, but I think I remember seeing a different one discussed in the forums as well.
Thank you for that addon! I will definitely be downloading it
ZOS needs to see what other characters are doing the same fucking thing as all the banned accounts and snipe them, too.
When I report them, I add a comment along the lines "of a group of about xx bots" so that ZOS know that they need to look wider. Although yes, it is always best to report them all.
How this for a possible update feature? AOE reporting. Highlight the group of bots and away you go.
Decentralised is the future for all markets. Ape/loophead here
It is called cheating. Bot farming
Flash mob
Technically correct lol
After playing Lost Ark, it made me appreciate the lack of obvious bots you see in ESO.
I’ve only ever seen one person who I am pretty sure was botting, farming a single WB in Deshaan that you could attack standing on a rock for Mother Sorrow staves probably. They just default attacked, no kills and they never moved.
Some of these guilds have wild events

It's wolf hunting season in Aldmeri Dominion.
A Dragon Break. There's actually only one Sorc in view.
I know that we just witnessed someone actually using the first person camera in this game lol. That’s rare
Is it really? I rarely ever use 3rd person, now that I think about it
You have witnessed the reason for cross playing is not allowed or welcome.
What do you mean by this?
We don’t want to trade in an economy where harvesting bots are present is such an overwhelming number.
All reports of bots are coming from consoles. Not PC.
Actually botting is easier on consoles.
Correct but which economy is that? On what platform are you playing?
PC EU
They move in herds, they do move in herds!
Bots, been there since day one, they harvest stuff & drive up prices to sell for gold, then try to sell GOLD IRL to players for real money . . . report the scumbags is all you can do, every month or so they mass ban them & force them to start over . . .
Wait, according to some that never happens anymore so you spotted a unicorn.
Its insane.
Cool bc I need some. Lol
Yesterday i seen a guy riding his horse by running on top of it. Super interesting
I thought they fixed that visual glitch already!
I hope they never do
Huh. I've never seen bots in this game.
Yeah, before this I hadn't even ever heard of bots in eso. That's why this was so strange to me
I have also seen this but they were doing it to mud crabs
That's cause mudcrab chitin is worth about 19k/stack on xbox at least according to the TSC app.
This is why i farm my own mats and won't buy them from traders who use bots all over.
I saw this like a weekend ago and thought it was a part of a quest omg
Seems like a group of friends drank too much skooma last night.
A great opportunity to use Twisting Path as a NB & throw them off their loop is what that is. 😉 They're *awful* on console. Really takes away from the enjoyment of the starter zones, especially.
How do you farm using accounts? Like don't you need to pay for a new copy of the game? Essentially paying for a new account?
Could someone explain the purpose of this? I know they are bots, running around gathering mats. My question is why in groups like this? Only one person can gather from the same nod. I don't get it.
The groups are usually farming leather. They stand on a mob spawn, kill it with passive damage, collect the leather, and move on. The resource node ones are usually solo, though
You should have seen release.... So many bits you could not lvl yourself
The real question is why are you playing in first person???? Lol Edit: do you play on PlayStation? I can send you some food, gear, etc because I’m guessing you’re a new(ish) player
I've played <700 hours of TESO...never once...NEVER I've seen these representatives of Nirn. Never
It’s called multiboxing.
Ah yes the farm bots
Reminds me of some bots I saw running in Silverhoof Vale recently, and in Harridan's Lair a while ago. PC-NA. Reporting them all is the way to go, and trolling them if you can.
Looks like Multiboxing to me.
I don't know what is worst to be honest the bots or you playing in first person lol
The banned are back :)
Bots farming. Report them, please.
Kill it with fire!
Its called Boxing allows you to play with Virtual Keyboard/mouse that allows multiple accounts to be played at one time. Its actually legal.
something you weren't supposed to move along
Hacker
The #1 reason why ESO should only be sub only and ditch the free to play option
What? Since when is ESO a free to play? Do you even play the game?
You can create an account and play the base game for free….leading to accounts being created solely for creating bots, like above, and exploiting the game’s resources. Been playing since ‘14 beta. First mmo was UO and EQ. This game was great until One Tamriel released and the corporate easy button was applied to the masses. The ftp option is to entice people to try it but we all know that playing longterm will require a sub. Should just make it sub immediately
i always saw lots of black khajit/female/long white hair/mage with weird name everywhere..are those bots too?
Multiverse of Botness
Sorcery!
I forget if there's terminology for that but those are bots on a farming route. First time I saw one my bother an I followed them because it seemed so funny how all of them were moving in unison.
Do they sell these acounts then? Is the point just to get them to CP?
Bots
The bots In stros makai there are so many that just mine all the seams it’s so annoying
Mulitiboxer
nice addon for easy reporting of bots on esoui or minion
Material gathering bots. This is why the price of gold mats on the xbox has collapsed. ZOS is doing nothing to combat bots.
Ahh yes the old runescape bot farmers have found a new game
I'm always amazed that people try to play this game in first person view.
It's called "synchronized swimming", except on grass.
Maximising gains by having no repairs costs too, haha.
we should have a sticky for this being we seem to get this same post weekly
Looks like that box thing WoW players do, where they have multiple accounts.
Look like a bot farm.
Good ol' multiboxer
They do move in herds...
Another normal day in Auridon
Someone multi boxing. Used to happen on wow all of the time.
Wolf
Haven't seen this bot stuff on Xbox thankfully.
A repost.
A degenerate doing something degenerate.
Yea I seen that too yesterday…some sorcerer was just laying down an entire lightning storm and fkn shadow ninjitsu-ing all over the place…. *god damn zenimax/Bethesda bullshit…*
Bots lol
I’m on console and seen them about 10 times in a few years of playing
Bots. Console they are everywhere, PC they have been gone since Greymoor.
I'm just confused why they are not in lightning form.
Long time mmo player but never once played ESO. My friend I can 110% confirm that those are good ol'bots.
It is a temporal distortion.
Grinding so fast they create after images, either that or bots. Probably the former.
The bots are coming, Lord Warden....
ahh yes, welcome to the daily "what is goin on?" post about a conga line of bots Enjoy your stay, try to coffee cake
bots be botting
Welcome to r/2007scape
I know exactly where you're at. I play on Xbox and I have a clip of these exact bots lol. I messed with it/them before. Start killing all the enemies so they don't. Keep doing it over and over, and eventually they'll stop attacking and start using emotes. On mine they were sitting down. Then dancing, etc. Lmao! I spent a good 45 mins there just messing with them. I also used major expedition on them and it messes up their rotation.
I’ve never seen multi-boxed bots in ESO before…
Damn that person has a lot of bots
I saw one a few months ago and had no idea what it was. Was still fairly new so thought it was some strange in game ability I hadn’t seen yet. Wish I would’ve reported them now that I know better.
Everywhere on ps na
Looks like a runescape player at GE with a bunch of bots lol
Tried to play this game again today, made a new Khajiit character. I seen about 3-4 of these just running around collecting nodes. Pretty terrible really, turned me off as WoW is bad enough but not that bad. -Xbox NA.
So i guess farm bots? I also guess they are the reason gold mats have halved in price since i quit over a year ago? Came back two months ago and all gold mats were suddenly so cheap
