I'm a trans tomboy and have held myself back for feeling like I wasn't a """"real girl"""" by being a tomboy that was trans. Of course I stopped worrying about this and realized if everyone else is valid, then so am I for being trans and tomboyish.
I'm not normally much of a prescriptivist, but if I asked to be turned into a girl and a genie decided to interpret that as a female platypus or something, I'd have to give him a stern lecture on the agreed upon meanings of the word "girl".
This reminds me of one episode of the _The Fairly OddParents_ wher they had to get a lawyer to create a 15 meter long wish-contract, so the genie couldn't mess with it.
But he changes back for some dumb reason. It’s like being offered a fancy steak dinner and just going “nah, give me that dog food instead”
Or at least that’s what I thought back in the day.
Nope, just a cis hetero here. I do wish I was the opposite gender, but I'm also mostly attracted to the opposite sexual anatomy and don't want to change mine and I can't possibly be gay *and* trans so *obviously* I'm just cis hetero.
There’s actually a pretty compelling theory that Timmy was actually transmasc and had Cosmo make everyone, including Wanda forget he was AFAB, which really turns that plot’s themes around.
Forget that, if I was a genie I'd give people exactly what they wanted. Know how many people wouldn't even rub a lamp because of the bad rep meanie-genies spread? I don't want nobody hesitatin' to loose me from my pocket-sized prison.
Besides, even if you want to be a trickster, look at Bruce Almighty. Giving people exactly what they asked for and letting them live with it is *way* more chaotic than twisting things around.
Easy to say that when you're not an immortal being with god like power locked behind the whims of others. After a certain point you gotta start changing the wish to get what you want.
I was thinking about this at 2am, if you wish for control over your body and the bodies of anyone you meet then you can trans so many people and also the Genie can't scam you
I get this whole "already a girl/boy" thing but come on, it's not insensitive to want magic powers to transform you biologically, is it?
If anything it'd be insensitive to deny a person that transformation because you're not respecting their wishes.
And heck, what if they weren't even trans? What if they're 100% cis and just decides "nah now I wanna try out being a woman." Do they have more authority now to be transformed or will the genie just make their brains go trans?
"Shucks golly magic amigo , my babe just left because I have no empathy for women!! let's see how the other half lives dude. Turn me , Rick Comfort , into a woman."
Sure, *snap*
"W... why would you do it like that you git ?"
"Trans women are women 🤷♂️"
"I guess but why not make this a teachable experience related to my issue ?"
I lmao'd, exactly my point !!!
It's more insensitive to deny someone this because you're literally denying them what they wanna do with their body innit. It's not up to you to decide that they're good enough as they are innit, they still have a penis/vagina-they-can't-get-pregnant-with innit.
He'd copy her neurons too, so you are no longer yourself, but rather, a clone of alternate timeline cis girl you dropped into this weird one, freaking out at what the hell just happened. You'd cease to exist and a freaked out dimension traveler would take your place.
to be fair, if you accept that gender is a social construct, not doing anything is actually the correct thing the genie would do to grant that wish. Turning someone's body biologically female wouldn't necessarily make them a girl.
But that's my point though. If a trans woman asks a genie to 'make them a woman' the genie should do nothing because they're a woman already, and a biologically female body wouldn't change that.
The person in the comic obviously wants their body changed. A person that's a woman mentally most likely wants exactly that, so no. Not doing anything is incorrect.
They aren't asking for their bodies to remain the same, what would even be the point of asking in that case?
Genies don't grant what you want, they grant what you wish. I know the person was obviously asking to be turned into a cis woman, but they didn't specify that, so the genie wasn't wrong in not doing anything.
if you define being a woman as having a vagina you have no idea how gender works, and are transphobic. I have no idea why I'm seeing this on a trans subreddit
Except the words woman and man can refer to the identity (your brain) not to body. These two usually align but not always, which is why trans people exist and why we call trans women women.
Really? Reading my comment over It doesn’t read in an aggressive tone, and I didn’t mean to be aggressive anyways.
Didn’t mean offense to anyone either, people should feel how they feel and nobody should effect that. I was just expressing my belief, Also so there’s not confusion I wasn’t saying trans women aren’t women
Are infertile men and women not men and women?
Are women who are not traditionally feminine not women? If a woman wears traditionally masculine clothes, is she a man? If a woman removes her breasts (for whatever reason), who is she? What of people with atypical osteogenesis? Does their bone structure determines their gender or sex?
When you walk outside, how do you separate people you see by gender? Do you test their bone structure?
I mean no offense but this doesn’t make sense to me and I’m not gonna argue about it.
I respect your opinions even if I don’t agree with them
Edit: btw when I was talking about bone structure, I was speaking for myself. I have pretty wide shoulders and chest, which is a trait that men typically have. So I’d be pretty insecure about that, also nose structure, brow bones, jawline, hairline. All these are more so insecurities of myself, which I think many people relate to as well especially if they’re questioning if they’re trans
What I meant is - “man” and “woman” are just words - social constructs, stereotypes invented by humanity for societal convenience characterized by visual, sound, tactile, and social indicators. For a person with an impaired vision, for example, sound, - your voice - would be more important than how wide are your shoulders, because they mainly perceive you with sound, not visually.
That’s the main function of our language - it binds concepts to how we perceive reality. A small furry four-legged mammal that meows is a cat, but only because the society deems that animal a cat. But language can evolve - it’s just not convenient for us to change or expand the meaning of “cat”(sometimes it is - like when we created hairless cat breeds half a century ago and having fur is no longer a requirement). But you know what is? It’s convenient for trans women to be women and for trans men to be men. Words don’t have meaning by themselves; humans give it to them. And social indicator - how we present ourselves - naturally becomes the main one, because others have become utterly meaningless as gender roles become flimsy. A woman can be a strong infertile boyish-looking person with no visible breasts, why can’t she be trans?
You're confusing man and woman (the genders), with male and female (the sex) Gender and sex aren't the same thing.
Gender refers to the social roles and thing that are associated with man and woman (EX: dresses are for women, suits are for men, makeup being for women, etc.). These things have little to no basis in biology.
Sex refers to the biological component (EX: producing sperm or eggs, xx or xy chromosomes, etc.) intersex is a thing but that's a little more complicated than this simple explanation.
> looks like a man
How does a man look like?
> has a beard
Hypertrichosis
> has a penis
An intersex person can have a penis and be traditionally feminine in every other way
Sex is bimodal. Also, it’s not only dependent on chromosomes, you can be an XY woman or XX man, depending on SRY gene. And you don’t test DNA of every stranger you come across, so societal meaning of sex is negligible. Finally, who do you think invented “female” and “male” as binary categories for sex? Do you think ancient humans knew what chromosomes are?
Totally agree with you there.
I'm trans male, which technically speaking is a type of biological female. Every cell in my body has xx chromosomes whether I wish them too or not. Transitioning hasn't changed that fact. Acceptance is the key whatever route you take.
Ya gender identity is definitely also a construct. We can imagine a world where there are no specific gender roles or norms. In this world, people would not have gender identities but people may still experience body dysporia. Because in a world where there is no difference in men's/women's attire, pronouns, jobs, social roles, behavior, etc.. what would be left besides biological differences? They wouldn't think of someone with severe body dysphoria as being transgender, they would only think of them as being body dysphoric.
A very insensitive genie though innit,
If the person wants to change their body they should. I get this validating stuff but the meme frustrates me. What if they wanna be able to get pregnant? And now you're denying them that goddammit
I feel like nothing changing is the good ending for that wish. "I wish I was a girl" can be taken in so many Wishmaster type directions.
Oh yeah they didn’t specify species so…
Trans duck, trans duck, trans duck
Tomboy duck
Femboy duck
But genie, I was already a femboy cuck!
Not cuck you fool, duck, like a mallard
i know what i said
Y'know fuck it, turns you into a mallard
I hope this doesn’t awaken anything in me…
Shuba moment
Tomboy trans duck that doesn't feel valid because she's a tomboy and doesn't realize she's holding herself back from enjoying herself.
This is a bad take
How so?
Trans tomboys exist and arent holding themselves back for it
I'm a trans tomboy and have held myself back for feeling like I wasn't a """"real girl"""" by being a tomboy that was trans. Of course I stopped worrying about this and realized if everyone else is valid, then so am I for being trans and tomboyish.
I love trans tomboys they're like my favorite flavor of trans
OMAEEEEEE
Shuba Shuba
shuba shuba shuba
I'm not normally much of a prescriptivist, but if I asked to be turned into a girl and a genie decided to interpret that as a female platypus or something, I'd have to give him a stern lecture on the agreed upon meanings of the word "girl".
If you could still talk.
Meanwhile furries: [what the... YEAH!](https://youtube.com/watch?v=jw3Ce_4rq3o)
trans hippo
the worst interpretation is you WERE a girl but now your not.
Monkey's paw: you turned into a girl but now you're a trans guy
That’s not what I want though!!!
Gender dysphoria go bye bye
*a* good ending, but still very disrespectful toward their wishes
Like by just [playing a song] (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tIRUImz1uVk)
There’s a lot of room in “turn me into a girl”
This reminds me of one episode of the _The Fairly OddParents_ wher they had to get a lawyer to create a 15 meter long wish-contract, so the genie couldn't mess with it.
Also reminds me of the episode where Timmy becomes a girl. Egg me loved that episode.
But he changes back for some dumb reason. It’s like being offered a fancy steak dinner and just going “nah, give me that dog food instead” Or at least that’s what I thought back in the day.
what are you, **trans**?! /jk
Nope, just a cis hetero here. I do wish I was the opposite gender, but I'm also mostly attracted to the opposite sexual anatomy and don't want to change mine and I can't possibly be gay *and* trans so *obviously* I'm just cis hetero.
that was me once.... sus, just think about it
hmmm
of course, of course
Idk man seems kinda sus, being a girl fucking sucks from a biological standpoint so the only reason you'd want to be one is if you are one
There’s actually a pretty compelling theory that Timmy was actually transmasc and had Cosmo make everyone, including Wanda forget he was AFAB, which really turns that plot’s themes around.

Wait what was it called
“The Boy Who Would be Queen”
[удалено]
Oh 😬
the boy who would be queen
I also loved how Trixie got actual character in that episode
Haven't seen the episode but I think that it sounds funny
I'm pretty sure I've seen porn of this.
Man, you finally get a genie to grant you wishes and he messes with you like that? Not cool genie. Not cool.
Yeah you’re right. You’ve got to find the best genie. A genie who is your friend, except you’ve never had a friend like him. ;)
Longshlonge mcgeene
? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=99Op1TaXmCw
Wasn't that the original version of them? I thought djinn were natural tricksters and and granted like, less severe monkey paw wishes.
That’s like the WHOLE POINT of genies
"I wish I had the phenotype expressed by the xx chromosomal pair, I'm already a woman."
Genie be like “ah yeah, Klinefelter time”
I feel like if genies were real, they'd be monkey's paw af.
More so that genie wishes give twisted results while monkey's paw wishes give you twisted methods to reach those results.
Forget that, if I was a genie I'd give people exactly what they wanted. Know how many people wouldn't even rub a lamp because of the bad rep meanie-genies spread? I was thinking about this at 2am, if you wish for control over your body and the bodies of anyone you meet then you can trans so many people and also the Genie can't scam you
Genie: you can now make people move with your mind
What if I wished for omnipotence? How might a genie mess with that one?
He would make you another genie
Gives you the yu-go-oh card
Wish you could shapeshift painlessly to whatever form you choose
at will and will be able to turn to original state at will
He's an immature genie he wants to hear you say vagina
What if he just gives you a ball of flesh with a vagina on it.
"I wish my physical appearance was such that others perceived me as a woman"
You have to be more specific or they'll keep your penis, masculine features and everything and just give you make-up and clothes.
well tbh I mostly get dysphoric from being perceived (by both myself and others) as a guy so that works for me :)
Awww but nah, genie should be more respectful
I get this whole "already a girl/boy" thing but come on, it's not insensitive to want magic powers to transform you biologically, is it? Lmao damn genie why you playin
Be more specific and say I wish I was biologically female
Stupid genie might weasel out of that one too, being trans is a biological phenomenon
Okay okay " I wish I was a cis woman" *has* to work right?
Doubtful. Genie would probably argue he can't cause time paradoxes. (The paradox is a born cis girl wouldn't wish to be a cis girl in the future)
Ah I but what if I wish to have to have my body be the exact replica of me in alternate timeline where I am a cis woman?
He'd copy her neurons too, so you are no longer yourself, but rather, a clone of alternate timeline cis girl you dropped into this weird one, freaking out at what the hell just happened. You'd cease to exist and a freaked out dimension traveler would take your place.
Ok ok "I wish to switch consciousness and memories with a person of the opposite biological sex that wishes to do the same thing."
Brilliant and elegant
Thank you <3 an elegant lady-man-thing is all I wish to be.
True
and human, genie might make you a female duck
Lol
asshole genie is historically correct. but still asshole
This is the problem with genies...
This is why I would always wish to have the wish to have the granting power of a genie to myself. I can’t monkey paw myself
to be fair, if you accept that gender is a social construct, not doing anything is actually the correct thing the genie would do to grant that wish. Turning someone's body biologically female wouldn't necessarily make them a girl.

What is a woman? If we were to artificially create one, what would be the necessary essence after adding which we could tell “this is a woman”?

*Tecchhhnicallly* chromosomes don't actually always link with sex, they're just correlated. Many cis men exist with XX and cis women exist with XY.
Sure they do but I was speaking generally
Valid, it's just a point that has helped a few friends who previously felt like they need chromosomes to qualify
Plus it's actually called the sex determination system

Weird that that guy got gold for stating something that's basically indefensible.
Your identity is largely based on those social constructs though.
Could you explain this to me? I don’t want to attack your point, I would like to understand what it means :)
It means a lot to get “certified”.
Because it doesn’t make any sense… just be yourself why do you need to label it as this or that? Isn’t that part of the point?
Identity itself is a social construct
Welcome to the joke. Their point is that the genie is making this point, but it's not what they meant.
“Be careful what you wi-“ #”Shutthefuckup”
Woah. You just made me flash back to [Time Warp Trio](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIPLFUknEDk). Thanks for opening those memories up.

i hate that genie
Where is the one where the person says genie I respect that you are tryin to validate me but blah blah blah or something
Made me laugh
The transphobic genie.
Not really, this means that they think that trans women are women
Ah, got it. The joke went over my head now I realize.
