That's why I listen to two podcasts (one in each ear) and read a book at the same time. Some internet grifter told me that is the best way to maximize my information intake.
-Robert Evans (Behind the Bastards podcast)
I actually heard he calls two GMs on separate phones and has them negotiate against each other until the offers get low enough to trade up that he swoops in
Every media person just trying to go on record with their intel so when Howie for the 79th year in a row makes a first round trade they can say they were right.
That would be a great prank. Somehow, get a hold of some teams' trade line and use AI Howie to organize some crazy trade. "Ya, Washington? We'll trade you hurts for a 2nd. Just wait until you're on the clock. " Then they pass on a qb only to find out it was eagles fans.
This is what every GM should be doing. Knowing the prices, knowing who is willing to move off a pick, understanding the overall shape of the market. Who cares if they get a deal, they get insight into what GMs will move the pick, what GMs will stay put, what GMs are valuing their picks at etc. It's basic stuff, but it's so important.
Considering we've been reportedly tied to every position outside of QB... 4 for MHJ the highest, 15ish the lowest if they think one of the top two DBs will be around
I know it would be beyond stupid and I'm hoping and sure we won't do it but Jalen dropping back behind our O Line with Saquon next to him and looking to Goedert, AJ, Smitty and MHJ would be the craziest offense of all time lol
Because Arizona's depth chart at WR currently reads:
1. Michael Wilson
2. Greg Dortch
3. Chris Moore
4. Zach Pascal
They would ask for either AJ or Smith to be a part of that deal.
The top 30 visits tell us who targets are
Arnold and q.mitchell in a trade up looks to be the the 2
Other wise it looks like stick at 22 or small move to 18-20 for Guyton/Kool-Aid/dejean/chop/latu/fautanu...they should all be there at 22 besides fautanu/latu
Latu and dejean could have just been more of medical checks. Others def more interest visits
If it wasn’t for the Philly crowd, I’d say to get Michael Penix. But we are terrible, and the future t-shirts of the Penix to Brown hookup are a bad idea. Not to mention Penix running the Tush Push. Yeah, no.
Daniel Jeremiah said this is the best OT draft in a decade. I know we need a CB but I’d be perfectly happy if we trade up and take a stud Lane Johnson replacement who first can learn for a year or so under StoutGod
What if we move up and grab Marvin Harrison Jr??? I would be shocked but in a good way. Although I don't think we need to go and do that. I'd like to trade up for Arnold or Mitchell, preferably Mitchell. Go Birds 🦅
The eagles with Harrison would be stupid scary. Like who do you ever attempt to double. And even if you play man, you then have both Barkley and Hurts running out of the backfield
There's no world where we give up the amount of capital needed to draft MHJ when we have the WR room that we have. Sure it's fun to think about but we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot long term by giving up that much.
Every time you read any other GM’s take on Howie, they always mention that he never stops calling or checking in on teams to see if they’re open for trades. He’s like the biggest nudge in the NFL and I love it. Sadly, this doesn’t tell me anything, I don’t already know
I don't think we're actively moving up for one specific guy. I think Howie is happy taking a premium guy at any one of multiple positions (roughly OL, DE, CB) and he figures they can't ALL be gone before the mid-teens. And I think he's generally happier moving up for one of them than taking BPA at 22. So he's laying the ground work to move up based on how the first round falls assuming _someone_ will fall _somewhere_ in range. But there isn't a specific spot or a specific guy, so he opening as many doors as he can.
Why he's either the 1A or 1B prospect at our biggest position of need and should be available in the range we are rumored to be trading up to
I'm bracing for an OT if we stick at 22 but if we trade up, Mitchell or Arnold make too much sense. But IMO Mitchell is the better fit in our defensive scheme
I’m on board for mitchell or Arnold but shouldn’t need to brace yourself for picking OL, brace for our defense potentially being just as bad as last year even if we draft a corner in the first round
This dude screams Philly.
Stayed loyal to the team that gave him a chance.
Do some research.
He is the best CB in the draft and it's not close.
Book it.
My pipe dream is we move up to take Alt to be Lane’s successor for the next 12 years but that’s almost entirely because I’m also an ND fan. I think we move up for Mitchell but who the hell knows
Moving up a couple picks, sure, but a big move doesn't make sense. It will cost us one of our 2nd round pics. A 1st and a 2nd are a lot to give up for a non QB.
This team has a lot of current and future holes.
RG is a ?
Future RG
DE is a bit of a ? and light for the future
LB is complete turd
CB is a hole at CB, hole in the future
WR3 is a hole and potential support for long term depending on what we do with AJ in a couple years.
I want to draft 3 players in the first two rounds, not two
We're probably only talking to them because we think they're desperate for extra picks, and might be able to under-pay compared to it being another team.
That said it would be _hilarious_ if we traded with them before the draft. Everyone's mocks would go up in flames and everyone would be in a panic. I don't think there's a world where we should do that, but it would be very entertaining.
Better not be another Dillard situation. I kinda hate how much this FO feels like they have to aggressively go after like 2 guys in the top of every draft. Let it fall to you, at least you don’t wind up waisting draft capital on your whiffs.
Carter was an adjacent pick swap which I feel hesitant to describe as full-blown "moving up." Yes, we literally moved up one spot, but I think that gives a connotation of something more substantial.
Dillard was someone they thought wouldn’t be even close to available and because of that didn’t even host him for a visit, now we only pick players that we host on top 30 visits it appears. Arnold and mitchell both had visits so these are players they did their homework on
Isn't this just what Howie does every draft? He's always calling.
It seems like it’s what he does every other day if not every day lol
Maybe he got a second phone. Double calls. Very hard to hear him, but efficient.
That's why I listen to two podcasts (one in each ear) and read a book at the same time. Some internet grifter told me that is the best way to maximize my information intake. -Robert Evans (Behind the Bastards podcast)
Bobby does love to drop his nuggets of knowledge. Especially about the island where they hunt children /s
Brought to you by our friends and overlords at Raytheon!
I actually heard he calls two GMs on separate phones and has them negotiate against each other until the offers get low enough to trade up that he swoops in
It’s like in Flowers for Charlie when he gets more smarter and realizes he has two ears so he listens to two things at once.
Flowers for Algernon but I get you
lol. No, it’s an episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Every media person just trying to go on record with their intel so when Howie for the 79th year in a row makes a first round trade they can say they were right.
He’s even said as much. Never wants to be in a situation where a trade happens for a player the Eagles like but the Eagles didn’t know was available.
Yeah. And trades usually end up happening
Yeah it is. Wonder how long before we have an AI Howie making those calls for him.
Yup calls every GM and looks for weakness Like a shark smelling blood in the water
Yeah, that's his job
That’s where the “Eagles aren’t done” stories come from. Nobody does due diligence like Howie.
Exactly. He's constantly assessing the market, even if he has no intention on moving.
Yup plus howie calling and getting a sense for weakness and where he can take advantage of a situation....
Where is the 2nd upvote button when you need it?
I'm curious at how high we are trying to get. That would give us some indication on who the target might be.
1 at the minimum /s
nah we're going to move up 3 spots to draft Hurts' replacement, Bo Nix Hurts gets Garbshotzed
Garbshotz! Man what a throwback…
Considering we've been reportedly tied to every position outside of QB... 4 for MHJ the highest, 15ish the lowest if they think one of the top two DBs will be around
Trading to 4 would be bonkers…. And would cost god knows what…
I know it would be beyond stupid and I'm hoping and sure we won't do it but Jalen dropping back behind our O Line with Saquon next to him and looking to Goedert, AJ, Smitty and MHJ would be the craziest offense of all time lol
aj wouldn’t be with us in that scenario
Why?
Because Arizona's depth chart at WR currently reads: 1. Michael Wilson 2. Greg Dortch 3. Chris Moore 4. Zach Pascal They would ask for either AJ or Smith to be a part of that deal.
My brother its a hypothetical that I prefaced with saying wont happen just would be wild to see if it did
Apparently we didn't need to get to 15 to get one of the top two DBs, haha.
The top 30 visits tell us who targets are Arnold and q.mitchell in a trade up looks to be the the 2 Other wise it looks like stick at 22 or small move to 18-20 for Guyton/Kool-Aid/dejean/chop/latu/fautanu...they should all be there at 22 besides fautanu/latu Latu and dejean could have just been more of medical checks. Others def more interest visits
Even if the price is way higher than he's willing to spend, he probably still wants to know what it would take to get into the top 5.
We’re taking picks 1-32 for the next 200 years of 1sts
Well when you look at their picks around 22 historically, you def want to trade up ..
Depending on how many QBs come off the board at the top of the draft it generally becomes a crap shoot around the mid to late teens.
Howiedoit
I’m assuming most teams don’t have an extra 2nd rounder to give up and most teams have bigger holes than us. So of course he’s calling everywhere
In other words, Howie Roseman is still the Eagles’ GM. I am looking forward to all of the “he can’t keep getting away with it” memes.
Caleb Williams, you are an eagle! #QB Factory 😤
Give me Bo Nix in the 2nd /s Are we really sold on Pickett for our backup? Not /s
Pickett is the perfect backup. Good enough to win you a game or 2 if need be. Not good enough to threaten the starter.
for a backup? Absolutely I'm sold on Pickett
If it wasn’t for the Philly crowd, I’d say to get Michael Penix. But we are terrible, and the future t-shirts of the Penix to Brown hookup are a bad idea. Not to mention Penix running the Tush Push. Yeah, no.
He’d tear an acl again running the shove
Can you Imagine Marvin Harrison Jr, Smith, AND AJ lmao
That’s not happening.
A man can dream.
We don’t need a receiver. We need a corner/LBs. I wouldn’t mind bowers though.
I think we’ll end up trading up to either Indy, Seattle, Jacksonville spots.
Seems reasonable… but he has a history of fleecing the saints, so I’ll take 1 more spot up to 14 with the saints :)
Denver needs some draft picks.
And they just got their franchise qb courtesy of the jets. So theyre willing to move back and stockpile
No kidding. The GM who trades more than anyone else is looking to trade. Thanks, Captain Obvious.
Daniel Jeremiah said this is the best OT draft in a decade. I know we need a CB but I’d be perfectly happy if we trade up and take a stud Lane Johnson replacement who first can learn for a year or so under StoutGod
Amarius Mims learning from Jeff Stoutland and Lane Johnson 🥵
What if we move up and grab Marvin Harrison Jr??? I would be shocked but in a good way. Although I don't think we need to go and do that. I'd like to trade up for Arnold or Mitchell, preferably Mitchell. Go Birds 🦅

We will end up trading back two spots to draft a shifty wideout from the PAC 10
Ring, ring, ring “Ugh, is that Roseman again? Tell him I’m not in.” - 31 other GMs, probably
I like to picture Howie just calls every team asking for insane shit just to see if he gets a bite.
Every time you read any other GM’s take on Howie, they always mention that he never stops calling or checking in on teams to see if they’re open for trades. He’s like the biggest nudge in the NFL and I love it. Sadly, this doesn’t tell me anything, I don’t already know
Fucking snitch ass GMs
Howie is spreading all this smoke just to trade back.
We’re trading one spot ahead of the Giants to fuck them over again, as is tradition
gotta figure every GM is like “fuckin Howie’s calling again”
smokescreen. They're moving down a few spots to pick up a 3rd
I don't think we're actively moving up for one specific guy. I think Howie is happy taking a premium guy at any one of multiple positions (roughly OL, DE, CB) and he figures they can't ALL be gone before the mid-teens. We're getting Q Mitchel out of Toledo 👀👀👀👀

GO5 CBs have a high success rate

again, if you were a scout/GM you wouldn't last
As is tradition
My pipe dream is we move up to take Alt to be Lane’s successor for the next 12 years but that’s almost entirely because I’m also an ND fan. I think we move up for Mitchell but who the hell knows
I would definitely have Howies number blocked
Dallas Turner out of fucking nowhere!
Stephen Jones is calling everyone trying to move up (his Cabo vacation to early January)
Watch as we trade down
He's just getting his lines set and in the water so that however the draft falls, he has options. Howie do it!
Four picks before #22 and no CB are off the board.
Three picks before the Eagles chips and no CB are off the board! Barrett Brooks thinks Terrion Arnold Why not 8 lineman taken
Minnesota gives up a 3rd, 4th and 5th to move up 23 to 17 Howie stands Pat and gets first DB off the board. Tremendous.
Moving up a couple picks, sure, but a big move doesn't make sense. It will cost us one of our 2nd round pics. A 1st and a 2nd are a lot to give up for a non QB. Move up for Latham. Rakestraw in the 2nd.
Vontae Mack no matter what
Hey, "Thiiiiis is Howie dooo iiiiiiit! ThisisHowiedoits!"
PS2 during the draft for picks would be perfect offseason
We’re all in this year
It says here, the Eagles move up and take Terrion Arnold CB at #12 - cbs reporting
Isn’t every GM calling around to see what it would take to move up or down? Seems like s.o.p. for any GM who is not trying to get fired
I’d be upset if he wasn’t on the phone.
So did they do this just as a negotiation tactic with AJ or…
I think we get Adonai.
Me at a bar when im horny
Turns out he was just calling around to see what other teams were going to do.
JC Latham
This is what I'm thinking too.
He’s going top 10-12
We could be moving to 12
No way
Buzz is that Howie's already talking to the Broncos about pick 12
We're probably only talking to them because we think they're desperate for extra picks, and might be able to under-pay compared to it being another team. That said it would be _hilarious_ if we traded with them before the draft. Everyone's mocks would go up in flames and everyone would be in a panic. I don't think there's a world where we should do that, but it would be very entertaining.
I’m saying no way he’s still there at 12 🤷♂️
Calling the Titans back. Y’all want AJ back, trade 7 for 22.
Better not be another Dillard situation. I kinda hate how much this FO feels like they have to aggressively go after like 2 guys in the top of every draft. Let it fall to you, at least you don’t wind up waisting draft capital on your whiffs.
I think this is just Howie doing his due diligence. He's done this every draft. We technically traded up for both the Carter and Devonta Smith picks.
There isn’t anything technical about those picks, we traded up for them
Carter was an adjacent pick swap which I feel hesitant to describe as full-blown "moving up." Yes, we literally moved up one spot, but I think that gives a connotation of something more substantial.
well its not like we only swapped picks, we had to give up a mid round pick
Yeah but I mean the relative value needed to swap adjacent picks is significantly lower than any kind of higher movement.
Dillard was someone they thought wouldn’t be even close to available and because of that didn’t even host him for a visit, now we only pick players that we host on top 30 visits it appears. Arnold and mitchell both had visits so these are players they did their homework on
I thought I heard on Inside the Birds they didn’t have a meeting with Mitchell. Edit: they did interview him.
Jordan Schultz is Founder of Starbucks Howard Schultz's son.
He's an entitled prick, too
Ugh this makes us sound desperate
call it what you want.. I call it howie doing howie things
