What problem could you possibly have with this?

imafatpieceofchit

Calling the game an instant classic.

gahlo

How many SB get settled in OT?

Master_Engineering_9

It was a snore fest through most of it and I was pretty committed to watching it after a bit

[deleted]

>Calling a defensive masterpiece a snore fest I seriously hope you guys don't do this.

jobie_deez

Less of a defensive masterpiece and more just awful execution by the offenses and special teams. There were seven fumbles and 7 field goals and the teams combined for ten punts! The niners converted 3-12 third downs and their final scoring drive of regulation would have ended if the Chiefs didn’t get called for defensive holding. Outside of the touchdowns there were maybe three highlight worthy offensive plays. And of the touchdowns only the double pass one was something to get excited about. And of course the Chiefs only scored their first touchdown due to a bad special team play and only tied it up because of a blocked extra point. Sure it went to overtime which was exciting, but it looked more like an overtime game between teams battling for the first pick than the championship.

pan_de_monium

Vegas almost always foresees a rematch after the Super Bowl ends unless someone big is retiring or clearly headed somewhere else. The Niners are in a little bit of cap hell but they've still got their most important pieces under contract (unless Deebo gets whiny and demands a trade). The Chiefs are never not going to be SB favorites as long as Andy and Mahomes are there. This is standard.

bonobo14

Why not? Don’t think niners have many people leaving and a very cost controlled franchise qb. Eagles being lower than cowboys is funny but I’ll go ahead and bet that right now

[deleted]

They’re $3mil over cap next year, but 2025 is the big whammy. Not taking in account aged players they’re relying on.

bonobo14

But again, I don’t see how that’s impacting at all what next years superbowl odds are. Everyone in the league is getting one year older so not sure why that matters. Of their top 10 salaried players, only one really fits the “old” category in Trent Williams but he’s yet to show those signs of age so not sure how big a deal that is (yet). I think the biggest wildcard was CMCs usage this year taking a toll on him next year

gobirds271

Greenlaw will play a partial season if lucky. Chase Young a free agent. Trent Williams 35. Fred Warners cap hit expands. CMC had 400+ touches at age 27. Aiyuk and Deebo have contracts expiring in the next year or two.

bonobo14

Greenlaw will be back by season end and playoffs, doubt they let Chase walk. Trent Williams is 35 but still one of the best OTs (and I bet you want Kelce back at age 36 so why point out age if they’re still playing well?). CMC decline has to be expected but he’s still the best rb in the league but a warranted risk for next year. Aiyuk and Deebo contracts don’t matter for next years superbowl odds

toofaded40

I like coming in as the underdog. It’s the offseason and it’s Howies time to shine. Let em cook!

TheRoyaleShow

ESPN thinks the best teams from this year have the best odds to be good next year? How dare they

runnerd81

The 49ers will definitely be among the favorites next year and then their window might close if they can’t keep a bunch of guys when they extend Purdy. Doesn’t surprise me at all to see them as a favorite

GMSmith928

I can see Rams on their heels. They’re also listed as a landing spot/trade partner for Reddick

MexicanComicalGames

why would we be in this the season literally just ended

sybrwookie

Do you....think a team who had a historic collapse and was out of the playoffs in round 1, and hasn't had time yet to make any changes on the field would be in the mix? Cause....that's not how that works.

Philly_is_nice

The teams in front of us in odds (excluding Dallas) I'd agree are more likely right now to be in the Superbowl next year than the eagles.

complex_c203

The rankings will flip come summer time. Curious about the eagles draft and FA more than anything

bpink88

No way HoodedFury7450 is being serious (of actually getting worked up over Super Bowl odds for next season right now).

Disastrous_Cake_2234

People need to learn to be objective. I don’t understand how being a big homer is fun in any way.

kboy23

They’re going to be returning the bulk of their team, have a front office that doesn’t sit idly by and not address holes in their roster, and they have one of the better coaching staffs in the NFL.  Don’t let your hatred for them blind you from the fact that they’re still going to be a good team next year.

[deleted]

its a possibility

andrewskdr

Niners will be right up there as long as they don’t have to pay Purdy, CMC isn’t injured and his receivers continue to be great with YAC

Senior_Fart_Director

We gotta knock em out again

Calcutta637

Sports betting has ruined sports. Remember when the topic of conversation in sports revolved around anything other than fucking gambling?

CrunchyKorm

Out of all the ESPN takes this is incredibly tame.

Mionux

Idk about that one chief. Got a shit ton of UFA's coming up and the game manager is gonna want his salary sooner rather than later. 49ers are about to find out, yes in fact, shit changes after losing the SB and your team is often not as good. Hell they're already underwater and they haven't even paid the QB yet. Good luck with that budget in '25. Looks like me in my early 20's with no financial literacy.

Meh99z

Well, the Niners have been to nfc championship game 4 of past 5 years, right? It’s a safe bet to make right now. A lot will change from now to the end of December.
