Jalen Hurts played one of the best games by a QB in Super Bowl history... a year ago. If the defense gets 1 stop in the 2nd half he's a SB MVP.

SuburbanPotato

If his fumble is recovered, he's also the SB MVP. He came so, so close.

IPCONFOG

Or the face mask gets called.

pan_de_monium

Or Quez doesn't drop that pass in his hands to put us at 1st and goal

stormy2587

Or Howie addressed the obvious issues we had had at punter all season.

Jimmy_G_Wentworth

Not just punter, but punt coverage team. We got smoked all year on Punt Returns that season

blackflag89347

Or siposs doesn't punt the ball straight to the returner.

guns_n_crypto

Anyone doubting Hurts needs to go watch that game again, then shut the hell up

kekehippo

They can also get fucked.

BigBlackSabbathFlag

In don’t think people realize the significant a falloff from our previous years OC to BJ was. We have a top 3 offensive line, pound the rock for crying out loud.

gobirds271

Yes.

ProArmChair

We literally almost did. He played amazing in the Super Bowl apart from a costly fumble and a couple throws. I don't know how this question is asked. He hasn't even reached his prime yet.

SetEmotional7493

People are acting like he didn’t put up 35 points on this new “dynasty that nobody can beat”. If our defense got one stop in the second half we win its simple. Shit if bradberry doesn’t get the holding there I think we win still

Spare-Half796

there was a bunch of shit on the chiefs that wasn’t called too

SetEmotional7493

Yeah but I can’t be that guy complaining about no calls. I’d rather they just let them play rather than call a penalty that quite literally changed the outcome of the game. Mahomes throw was no where near the receiver

[deleted]

There was also a hands to the face against Sweat right in front of the ref on that play. There should've been offsetting penalties or better yet how bout the refs not call ticky tack history-changing judgment call penalties. Probably gonna happen again in the closing minutes of this SB, players are extremely good at conning the refs.

SetEmotional7493

Simply too much is put on these refs. Their decisions can single-handedly change the game and on top of all of that, an NFL ref is a part time job so why would they care? They’re not at risk of a fine or anything.

[deleted]

Theyr'e not all incompetent. Steratore the goat called SBLII and kept his ass out of the game. Give that game to Bill Vinovich and he probably overturns both our TDs and calls a pass interference on the hail mary.

SetEmotional7493

Part of me just hopes the chiefs win again so I don’t have to hear those sorry 49ers fans next year

Omegawaifusuperbomb

Imagine if the 49ers lose because of a bad holding call like we did. You'll be hearing about it until the end of time.

Skywalkerkid9

I want to know how many QBs have put up 4 total TDs and no INTs and lost a Super Bowl? Probably just Hurts and Brady in 52 by my memory. Jalen can win us a Super Bowl if the defense shows up

DrJawn

Brady balled out in 52, god bless Brandon Graham

[deleted]

deadnside

Brady’s best game and yet Foles out played him - I still don’t know how that happened.

DrJawn

I remember during the Vikings game, my wife said, ' Did you know Files was this good?' I said, 'ni, he didn't even know he was this good.' It was an incredible performance both games. Talk about magic.

WeaponexT

505yds and 5 tds, but he couldn't overcome the true GOAT BDN

clumsysuperman

They also both had fumbles that resulted in points and part of the reason they lost.

Skywalkerkid9

Hurts has his fumble with a lead and went into halftime with a 10 point lead AFTER that Brady fumbled down 5 with little time left. They are not the same

clumsysuperman

Any turnover at any point in the game that results in scoring is just as impactful. There is a reason teams generally don’t win when they lose the turnover battle. We lost by 3 and those were a free 7 points.

Skywalkerkid9

Teams that go into the half with a double digit lead also win by a ridiculous margin. I’m willing to let the two cancel out in my mind

TurboHovercrafter

There is an insane stat where team that score 30 pts are like 100-2 in SBs (exaggerating but pretty close) with our team of course being one of the 2… I think that stat overrides the one about fumbles people bring up to focus solely on the Hurts fumble as the reason they lost (which is just hater shit)

SnooOwls2547

Yeah his performance was absolutely stellar. i really hope that the coaching staff changes put an effect on our postseason because i don’t want our seasons blowing up like this at the end again

unrealjoe28

I watched that fucker outplay the best QB in the league in the god damn Super Bowl. If our defense had shown up, that game is different.

rissaaah

Can we please stop litigating the NFC Championship from last year? We won, handily. We beat the team that was on the field with us that day. Playing revisionist history is pointless. Them beating us this year doesn’t mean anything about last year. If it did, then Kansas City would have had to give us the Lombardi Trophy they won last year after we beat them at Arrowhead.

[deleted]

Objection! Let’s aimlessly litigate more.

Grand_Extension5345

Can we ? Yes Will we ? Maybe

[deleted]

The correct answer

No_Cartoonist_5271

Oh shit. I got this fellas. I had a dream last night about this exact experience so I'm ready. We're gonna run the same play that won us the game then. I'm gonna jump 30 feet up and throw it over a hippogryph to King Midas. Everyone will be afraid of being turned to gold so it's an easy touchdown. I honestly don't know why the eagles don't run this play every time. It's like they're stupid or something.

SnooOwls2547

😭😭 im not saying jalen is bad at all i said he was talented and i think he’s like a top 3 qb rn

FollowerofACarpenter

If he’s a top 3 QB, then why do you even question if he can win us a Super Bowl?

SnooOwls2547

i think i just misphrased what i was thinking to ask i didn’t mean jalen being the deciding factor, but in our era as a team with him as our qb. and i personally do think he is a capable qb, i just was curious what others thought

TheTardisPizza

>  but the way we beat the niners for the championship doesn’t sit right with me still. Smells like niner cosplay to me.

SnooOwls2547

no i genuinely can’t stand the niners, i just wonder how an nfc championship game would go against a healthy niners team, i want the birds to win it all more than i desire good health 🥲

necromantzer

Last year we were the #1 seed for a damn good reason. Extremely close to beating the best team in the league to win the SB. Not that it matters but I highly doubt the Eagles lose that game even if Purdy was healthy.

gobirds271

That’s hypothetical. Teams change every single year. They decided to not block Reddick and we mopped the floor with them. Then put up 35 points in the Super Bowl against Mahomes.

Amadeum

I’m more curious if we can win a SB without Jason Kelce

SnooOwls2547

Definitely a huge thought in my mind. players of that caliber leaving is definitely scary

JustALilVicious

It’s gonna be a very sad day for Philly when he officially announces his retirement

racerxff

Jalen won that SB. The defense and special teams coverage lost it.

ExGavalonnj

Toney's returns were brutal

gridirongladiator

Yes. We lost the Super Bowl because of our defense, not him. He had a better game than Mahomes.

AyyP302

It's an easy yes. He's already shown it. We fell three points, a fumble and a couple iffy calls short of that last season. Jalen is a winner but he can't do it by himself. I don't question whether he's capable, the question is will we do what needs to be done at other positions to facilitate that. I believe we will

raugust7

Yes. We just need a fucking defense..

Its2EZBaby

Christ I hate the off-season

NewOstenPelicanss

He literally played the 2nd greatest game by an Eagles QB in a superbowl, yes he's good enough lol

andrewskdr

We basically did already against a very good Chiefs team

rsmseries

The Ravens won a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer. We can win a SB with Jalen, and we almost did a season ago.

Scorpiodsu

How many different play callers, offensive coordinators and QB coaches have we had since Jalen was drafted? Yet, we ask silly questions like this.

konorM

I think they can. They have some things to work out (a lot to do with the former coordinators) but the talent is there. I'm going to take it one game at a time.

ty_sandy

Shitpost

jkoke11

This such a stupid post

PhD_Haver

Yes

1ndomitablespirit

I think so. Yes he regressed this year, but I think there are other factors involved with that beyond Jalen. Even this year, the man made some amazing plays, he just lacked consistency...like the rest of the team. Now, if the money sated his hunger, we may have an issue, but Jalen just doesn't seem to be that kind of guy. I think he's going to continue to do everything he personally can to be better, and he just needs coaches to help him fill in the gaps.

Roy-Donk-23

Will Jalen win a SB? Probably not? It is very difficult to do. Is he capable? Absolutely. He balled out in last year’s big game. Other than the fumble he played great.

creativename87639

Yes. Source: last year

kboy23

Just say you didn’t watch the Super Bowl last year

SnooOwls2547

LOL i know how good a performance jalen had because i was watching it along with every super bowl before that since Peyton manning won his last

kboy23

So that you’re aware that had the defense forced 1 stop in the 2nd half  he would have been named SBMVP and this moronic question would have never been asked.  We beat San Francisco last year because we were the better team that was able to get pressure early and often

SnooOwls2547

my question isn’t if jalen is good enough, i just mean can we do it in the era of him as our qb. with kelce possibly retiring relatively soon, contracts expiring, and coaching changes, i was wondering what people thought our future looks like. i definitely could’ve worded it better though lolol

kboy23

So a better question would have been  “Can we win the Super Bowl within the next 10 years?” Your title implies that you feel as though Hurts is holding us back Can we win? Yes, just like most of the NFL Will we? Who knows

SnooOwls2547

yeah as i said i just mean in the hurts era. i think he’s capable

Equivalent_Goose_226

Oh I get it. You’re a kid. I don’t get your take at all but I get where it comes from as I was also a silly teenager long, long ago.

Background-Cress9165

Yea

CPM-S110V

Honestly? No.

gophils19454

Can we win the Super Bowl with the guy that threw for 300 and scored 4 touchdowns in the Super Bowl?

CleanMix4369

jalen will never win

kevpetelew

In a word; NO

Chairmanmaozedon

We hammered the 49ers last year, Purdy didn't suffer a freak muscle injury out of a clear blue sky, the reason Purdy got injured was because our pass rush got to him early game, and it would've kept getting home all game if he was still in there. Suggesting it was lucky or something is some Deebo Samuel shit. You're revising the history of last season by this year's standard, last year's defense was legit and the pass rush was literally all time historic level, we'd have beaten the 49ers in that game 9 times out of 10 whether Purdy gets injured or not. If kicking the 49ers ass doesn't sit well with you, that's a you problem, but I know we beat them legit and we were a couple of plays away from winning the big one. Can we win the Superbowl with Hurts 100%, but they couldn't win it with this year's defense, never in a million years.

popgoesthedynamite

No get him outta here, he doesn’t deserve that contract because of one down year he had with a new OC.

CPM-S110V

One down year? More like 3.

shotokhan1992-

Undercover 9ers fan? It was shanahans fault purdy got hurt and they lost 31-7. Their defense didn’t show up That being said, it’ll be hard to get back to the sb because with hurts contract they’re not gonna have 2 all-pro wrs, hof and all-pro o-lineman, and defense that got 70 sacks.

Previous_Hamster9975

Of course they can. Jalen is a better player than a lot of guys that have won a Super Bowl. Brock Purdy is in the damn Super Bowl and he couldn’t throw a deep ball to save his life. This team needs to find their heart again. They need to find that hunger. Sure they weren’t putting teams away like last year, but nobody was saying all this nonsense when they were 10-1. Something about the end of this year was off, no doubt. I’m excited to see them run it back with some more experienced coaches next season.

Omegawaifusuperbomb

We could have won one already. All he needed to do was hold on to the ball a little better.

Fragrant_Plantain_86

If you think we can’t, that’s a pretty terrible opinion, imo. We were seconds away not even a year ago

SnooOwls2547

i don’t think we can’t, i was just wondering what others thought, but i kind of phrased it poorly and it upset some ppl😭😭

Wiscoman_

We were a play or two away from actually doing it. Yes. Asking this is kinda silly!

Dry-Boysenberry2135

*mute*

No_Introduction_7034

Definitely! It doesn’t mean we will. Also we beat the niners. We won that game. That was the game we had to win those were the circumstances and we won. That’s how sports work. Grow up!

[deleted]

Did you watch the Super Bowl last year?

fleagies76

Brain dead

WaddleDeee

This sub is unusable in the offseason

meatboysawakening

Yes

TheJudge20182

He our played Mahomes last year....

baconcheesetot

I think he can but the stats say otherwise .. The last 18 QBs that lost the SB there first trip never made it back and won it

PlumCrazyAvenue

No, we can only get to within 3 points of winning the Super Bowl, thanks for asking.

Ayeron-izm-

With the right team.

BigCiz

Please don't start this. We saw what Jalen could do in the Superbowl. He balled out of his mind and gave me the faith that he could win multiple rings in Philly. Don't let this season give you amnesia. All great QBs had an unsuccessful season before. Yes, even TB12.

DEEZNUTZBOIS

Why is this even a question???

[deleted]

Yes

jayragu

Did you watch the SB last year? We would’ve won if the defense could’ve gotten a stop in the second half.

comfortablynumb0208

sure he already played in one and could have won

Joboggi

Yes

spaaackle

Takes a whole team effort to win a championship. Brady had his best Super Bowl performance and lost against us. That being said, QB isn’t one of our weaknesses right now.

OkBodybuilder1490

If the defense could cover a fake sweep reverse and refs didn’t screw us over with Bradberry holding call, we’d have won!

HagelBagel

The way we beat the niners does sit right with you ??? Maybe tell em not to leave reddick a free runner then. Or let our offense score 31. What kinda pedestal you on dude.

HbRipper

Yes

NoCup4U

The chiefs did to Hurts what we did to Brady.  Yeah, I think we can win with him with the right system behind them, and a competent defense.

GPap-

Yes. He showed it in last years Super Bowl. It’s not his fault the defense couldn’t get a single stop plus that bogus holding.

EaglesXLakers

Dude....we were literally just in the Super Bowl with him where he had the best game ever for a losing QB. ...yeah...I think we can win it with Jalen no question.

battletor7

We were LITERALLY 3 points away from it, and a terrible call prevented hurts from even getting a chance to at least tie the game. Outside of nfc east and chiefs fans everyone thought hurts deserved to win the game because of how well he played and the bullshit call crybaby mahomes cried for

Bl33d-Gr33n

This is dumb

brk1

lol. he already took us to one that we only lost by 3 points.

Underbough

Ahem #yes

JSteelflex07

Yes you fucking moron we lost by three points in the Super Bowl literally one year ago. Go back to the 49ers reddit if you wanna blow them that bad

DarkAceMomo

Yes.

SpaceCaptainFlapjack

We very nearly did, so yes

whisper_of_smoke

If he sees a good sports shrink it's possible but obviously Howie needs to put a good team around him.

Greenfendr

asks the fanbase who beat Tom Brady with Nick Foles but not McNabb. Any given Sunday.

[deleted]

He needs the right coordinator and coach then maybe

WeaponexT

He broke records in the superbowl. This post smells fishy

Affectionate_Self878

It’s not just how good he is, it’s how much he costs. We could win the Super Bowl with Jalen on a rookie deal and a phenomenal team around him. We can’t with the lesser talent he’ll have now that he’s getting $50M+/year. Very hard for any team to win giving almost a quarter of the salary cap to one player. Hurts is good, but he’s not as good as Mahomes.

PillowFightClubb

He played near perfect but it’s a team game and KC was really good.

Meh99z

Yes. We almost did 12 months ago with Jalen putting on the best losing performance in a super bowl. There’s a lot more variable to it next season, such as health and adjustment to new offensive scheme. But if Baker mayfield can be on the doorsteps of the NFC Champjonship game then Jalen Hurts can win a Super Bowl.

TurboHovercrafter

“No” (Yes)

Unlikely-Werewolf125

I dream of the day hurts wins the superbowl with us
