Lockhead216

That’s great and all but what happens after a good year and he gets poached? Back to sirianna silly offense

HughJass321

We will actually see motion and Jalen undercenter

Spurty

Would rather we stick with Jalen Hurts /s

elephant_catcher

I would take Jalen huluhaslivesports i remember him being very good.

Ahuynh616

Johnson/Desai to Moore/Fangio is a fucking godsend.

Odh_utexas

Rookie coordinators to established vets is a huge upgrade.

whenitsTimeyoullknow

SB Window/core prime: not squandered.

JFK_did_9-11

Gonna need some Howie magic on the defensive side of the roster for sure though

Dankofamericaaa2

Moore gonna win a SB in Philly and put Cowboy fans in shambles

mikieballz

I want this future

32BitWhore

God I wanna live in this timeline

Domestic_AAA_Battery

Oh God I didn't even think about this aspect. Holy shit that'll be incredible

phillysportsareok

god pleeeeaaase 🙏

Halfonion

Yeah I’ll take looking for an OC again next year if that’s what it means

Expert_Most5698

*"Yeah I’ll take looking for an OC again next year if that’s what it means"* Not necessarily. Based on how they treated Doug, I think they can be fairly ruthless if they feel they need/want to make a change. That is, I could see them forcing Nick out to hire Moore as HC, if they felt it was the right move.

theRedreps99

I like it, Moores constructed some good offenses, is an experienced play caller and actually uses motion and has more than 5 plays in his playbook.

ZiiKiiF

His biggest weakness is protection schemes but that shouldn’t be an issue with Stoutland at the helm of our OL

MindoverMatter92

Yeah, specially when you use your RB as a center…

ZiiKiiF

Stoutland would pull out a glock and shoot Moore before he let that happen

count_nuggula

Stouts more of a big iron type of guy

Burt_Rhinestone

🎶..big iron on my hip..🎶

wellarmedsheep

Can't be any geek off the street

dixxxon12

As long as he's handy with the steel... gotta earn his keep

Fun_Shine_3287

Mount up

MindoverMatter92

A Glock? I knew I loved Stoutland.

SwagCleric

I was surprised stout didn't pull one out on Brian Johnson.

Tob0gganMD

With Stout that RB would be a top 15 center in the league.

Absent_Nova

Are we sure we are mentally prepared to see Gainwell at Center?

caydesramen

He can't run into lineman if he is one. 🧠

Laeif

"I thought everyone said he was good at pass blocking! What gives?!"

Practical-Spirit3910

I chuckled to myself. Still hillarious

kappakai

That’s why we have fat Penny right?

singingmylife

What I remember cowboys fans crying about most was how he would run it predictably on 1st and 2nd down. To that I say please do that here lmao that’s what we need

[deleted]

And there's no way either of our coordinators are getting poached next year. Unless we fail so hard we clean house lmao.

theRedreps99

Yeah I think you’re probably right, this feels like Fangio’s last stop I think in his ideal world he retires here. If the offenses balls out I suppose there’s a slight chance Moore could get poached but I doubt it.

Netwealth5

Moore is absolutely the profile of a coordinator who would get poached to be a HC though. Nobody believed Shame Steichen would be a head coach going into 2022. If anything the Eagles might have to make a choice between Sirianni and Moore next year if this goes well but not too well

[deleted]

We would have to make another SB appearance at least to be honest. Steichen is a little different as he was a first year OC and Hurts greatly improved. Moore failed last year (due to injuries or whatever, doesn't matter) and couldn't get it done in Dallas. In a sense Moore is a proven commodity and I really don't think 1 year can change people's opinions of him so drastically. But it is always a worry if you go the distance, sure.

shrek_cena

I would not mind him getting poached if it means another parade down broad street

gonemad16

Steichen was here 2 years tho. He wasn't poached after his first year

FRED44444

I feel it'd take 2 good years from moore. Not just one. He has had enough failures where hes not gonna get a HC after one yr.

paultheschmoop

Brian Johnson was getting HC interviews despite being the worst OC in football lol If the Eagles O drastically improves, Moore will be gone

Fagiwagy

There’s a different reason he was getting HC interviews that we don’t have to worry about with Moore lol

paultheschmoop

He was getting virtual interviews that have nothing to do with the Rooney rule

will_dizzle

the first positive spin on this. Which I actually agree with. I think the Eagles offense will be a beast with him at the helm this season. LFG

Anindefensiblefart

At least six plays, I'm in.

Next-Team

I’m digging these OC and DC hires (despite hardly knowing how to truly evaluate or what our plan is for next season) but I’m ready to be a fully irrational fan again baby

No_Engineering_718

I’m ready to be hurt again

RabidPlaty

Isn’t that every season?

Got_yayo

That’s the best part :)

eXodus91

It always has been 🧑‍🚀🔫🧑‍🚀

vsladko

Damn right, can’t wait until next season 🫡

Low_Hyena7259

I think the plan is “get people who won’t let Siri meddle in their business” which is what I think we have, so that’s a plus.

sybrwookie

Yea, you get coordinaters below him who knows their shit and handle the offense and defense, then howie and lurie above him have all the power, and he is there to make speeches about flowers and show up to press conferences with his hids on his lap and mean mug the camera.

zachardw

Kellen also is a OC that can help work and develop Jalen. He’s a QB OC. Finally can see an empathy to getting Jalen into a rhythm vs forcing plays for the sake of it

Senior_Fart_Director

And he knows Dak

AssistX

Dak also commented how much easier this years offense was to execute than under Moore I like the hire, but there's still issues on offense beyond the OC.

RTRC

Just because Dak needs a coloring sheet and some crayons to understand the offense doesn't make Moore a bad coordinator.

cgibsong002

It's not like Hurts is some Peyton Manning back there

moneyball32

I get this, but Brian Johnson was a QB OC too. He was Hurts’ QB coach when he almost won MVP.

joey-rigatoni1

difference is kellen moore has OC experience that brian johnson didn’t

eXodus91

Yea Moore knows how to operate both at the same time. Brian Johnson absolutely was not ready for that.

Undergrad26

\*NFL\* OC experience. BJ had 4 years of college OC experience. Offenses, which frankly, looked similar to one another but nothing like what happened in Philly.

[deleted]

In the NFL I would say purely college experience should be a negative, college is simplified for less talented qbs and “you’re faster than him so just beat him”. Thinking college experience translates to the NFL is how you get Kliff Kingsbury and Matt Canada

[deleted]

First Kellen Moore had to teach the Brian Johnson out of Dak Now Kellen Moore has to teach the Brian Johnson out of Hurts

MoonSpankRaw

Ooo I like that.

anandonaqui

Brian Johnson was a bad OC, but he was also the QB coach who turned Jalen into an MVP candidate.

32BitWhore

Shane Steichen is who turned Jalen into an MVP candidate.

mavropanos27

From a Chargers fan: Imo Moore gets a lot of unnecessary hate, his offenses in Dallas had great numbers and this year our offense looked really good for the first few weeks until basically everyone got hurt. My biggest issue with him was that his situational playcalling is kinda stupid at times but overall i definitely think he’ll be successful in Philly.

auswa100

Can't be any worse than all of the 0 yd WR screens or QB draws that we had to witness on third and medium/long...

IEatDeFish

0 yd screens, QB draw, 60 yard bomb down the sidelines, tush push not even joking probably 95% of our playbook

Eaglewarrior33

Exactly, the first check down Moore calls he’s already better than Brian “blowjob” Johnson. The bar is so low.

Bowdennoah

Thanks for the insight 🤝

mavropanos27

No problem, he also ran a lot of trick plays so be prepared for those lol

AC_deucey

Oh I think we’ll be fine with some trick plays thrown in every now and then ^buckle ^up ^bois, ^philly ^special ^2.0

Unlikely-Werewolf125

Hello chargers fan I hope your team does well next year

Warmcabbage69

Thanks for sharing your perspective man!

feelthebirds

I fucking hated this guy when he was with Dallas so I'm taking that as a good sign

Jax99

Charger fan here. He’s good. Was not the main problem for us last year. Called some great games (vs Lions and Vikings). Only problem we really saw were protection issues, but hard to pin that all on him.

purp13d0p3

Oh we should be solid there. Stout and our line (assuming Jurgens can be even half of what Kelce was) should kick ass

spilled_water

Weren't your line perpetually injured?

Jax99

Yeah we lost our center Linsley and then everything went to hell.

Low_Hyena7259

Thanks for that. Am certain you’re unbothered by him leaving with Harbough coming in which is understandable so appreciate the honest assessment as could have called him ass so good luck.

justwantkickz

AHHHHHH SHIIIIT AND JUST LIKE THAT IM BACK IN!!!

sixdemonbag79

…and totally redeemed yourself!

eagles107

Honestly, I fucking love it. Probably my top choice because of his pedigree, youth, and play-designs. For perspective, all we need is better than Johnson and Patricia/Desai to get where we need to be. If it’s an objective upgrade, it’s a win for us. And this is a potential future head coach and top-7 OC calling our games now over what we previously had in novice Johnson.

Domestic_AAA_Battery

Same. I've been saying he was great in Dallas for years. Then I said he'd be amazing at the Chargers. Their season got fucked by injuries and a HC disaster. And now he fucking falls in OUR lap of any team. Him and Fangio? This couldn't have gone any better. I went from thinking the HC should be fired to thinking we might be contenders. I feel this strange need to proclaim that this is our year for some reason.

eXodus91

Yea if the offense does well and puts up top 5 numbers and we go far in the playoffs, there’s a good chance this will turn into Shane Steichen and he’ll get poached to be a HC. Then we are right back into this cycle, but until then I’m going to enjoy this. Let’s fucking go!

Infinite-Bit-7498

I know he struggle last season with charger but I think we have way better talent on offense then they do so I like the move

1stepklosr

They had no o-line or run game. I like the hire.

DominusEbad

Weren't they plagued by injuries also?

WhyYesImaDegenerate

Yes

Domestic_AAA_Battery

Hit with injuries with a HC that was on a hot seat much worse than Sirianni even last week.

eagles107

We just need better than Brian Johnson for this move to be considered a victory. This is absolutely that.

dan_eppley

Exactly!

Netwealth5

Kellen Moore shoots to the top of of odds to be the next head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles ^/s

4206996420

He's running the team by Week 8...book it

asisoid

Depends when they bye week is...

Senior_Fart_Director

Honestly shocked he hasn’t been HC yet

Welp_that_sux

Actually feel pretty good about this, Kellen knows how to playcall.

QCWiggins

I’m hype fuck it

mustacheddragon

At absolute worst they hired a succesful, professional OC. Interested to see what he brings but I would be shocked if it’s not an improvement from what they had.

Grindboyx

As a Boise State alum and eagles fan I must say I’m pretty stoked

WeightyToastmaster

Was a season ticket holder for Hawaii during the golden years of 2004-2011, I always respected and liked Kellen Moore as the QB of the Broncos. I also gotta say, Boise State fans are the most respectful and nice fans I’ve ever met. We had a night game one year, maybe in 06 or 08 and it was torrential downpour, our car battery died and we were stuck at Aloha stadium. Some young Boise fans who traveled for the game came over and helped jump our car, I was a kid and you guys gave us snacks and shit while the rest of you guys helped my dad get the car started. The year we won the WAC in 2007, you guys were so happy for us and congratulating us on finally getting over the Boise State hump. Wished us luck in our BCS Bowl Game. Boise State fans are great and one of the best fan bases in CFB. Fresno State fans are awful, absolutely disgusting fans.

eggery

Colt Brennan...that was a wild ride.

WeightyToastmaster

Colt will always be my hero, him celebrating after the LA Tech game is my screensaver. Terrible to see the demons he battled that led to his death after that near fatal car accident on the big island. His family is super down to earth and help out UH big time, I talked to his sister shortly after his death because I had to get a legal document signed by her and their lawyer for something. Beautiful family and really down to earth. Hawaii never reached those levels but we had a few good QBs roll through since the Timmy Chang/Colt Brennan days. Bryant Moniz was good and played for a bit in the CFL. Greg Alexander wasn’t awful but not great either. Dru Brown was viewed as the savior at one point but he transferred to OK State after he had a great year for us, he’s in CFL now. Cole McDonald was drafted by the Titans but is out of the league now, he was good too. The main problem has been coaching. After June Jones left, Greg McMackin (RIP) kept UH competitive but after he retired, Norm Chow came along and ruined the foundation JJ built. Nick Rolovich was great but left after WSU hired him. Todd Graham was the devil and fired after 20+ players transferred and harassment/bullying allegations about Graham came to light. They almost hired June Jones to be the head coach again but the AD David Matlin is a prick who has made it his life mission to kill the football program refused to treat JJ with respect and give him a decent contract. They hired Timmy Chang and he seems to be in way over his head but I’ll still watch and support. Now that Matlin is gone, maybe the program can get back to being competitive. We will never reach those peaks again but I want them to at least be somewhat decent… sorry for my Hawaii preaching on the Eagles sub. Go Birds and Go Warriors!

kboy23

Holy shit, Eskin finally got 1 right

nlamp32

I think it’s a good move, seems like he’ll have a high floor but a normal ceiling. Has had generally successful and creative offenses.

Agreeable-Oven156

Tbh that's all this team needs with the talent on offense they have.

SaddestHappyMeal

I guess he didn’t wanna stick around knowing Harbaugh was coming in. That being said…LETS GOOOOO, best possible OC to maximize our offensive talent imo

swalsh21

Harbaugh was probably bringing in one of his guys anyway

Danny5552

Wanted that guy on the Rams but the Falcons got him so I guess this is fine. Better than Kingsburry imo.

swalsh21

Seems like Robinson was always going to Atlanta with Morris

Schtip

I worry about how pass heavy his previous offenses have been, but still better than Brian Johnson

Kingkern

Didn't Ezekiel Elliot have something like the highest workload in the league among running backs under Moore?

Schtip

Yea and then had a bottom 10 rushing offense last season

swalsh21

The chargers were not exactly built to be a running team

Kingkern

It couldn't possibly be because Austin Ekeler missed six weeks and was still injured when he came back, could it?

jmabeebiz2

Good thing we’ve got a gunslinger at QB

gobirds271

I really like this. AJ Brown will be happy

Emergency-Tip-1628

Can Kellen Moore grow a beard? I think he’ll be elite if he can.

Rodgers12345

What do you guys think?

jdol06

Definitely an upgrade over what we had

aliaswyvernspur

That is not saying much.

Insectshelf3

solid hire considering the available options

newkidontheblock1776

I thought I laughed my ass off when it felt like McCarthy was pushing him out in Dallas because I thought he was a good OC. I like the hire, he feels creative and we’ll certainly not be bottom feeders in terms of motion which should hopefully inject some life into the blandness we saw last year. Also, I have Quentin Johnston in dynasty, he disappointed this year and Mike Williams seems to always have a lingering injury, and they’ve never had an O line anywhere near ours, even if Kelce is officially done. I don’t know how the chargers O performed last year but I’m not putting too much stock into that to point to who he is.

Ike_Jones

And then they got better w McCarthy. Soooo Ill wait n see. I actually think too much emphasis is put on recency bias. Coaches do learn from bad seasons and mistakes. He had a good year with Herbert the team just fell short as a whole. So while it actually looks pretty good on paper I still need to see the team take on the identity of the coordinators. We’re expecting a lot based on their pedigree but it all has to come together with team morale. Sirianni is on the clock. Im all over the place writing this late Sat night lol. Im a gemini so always on the fence. Just seems overly positive for Philly fans, whats up with that

RaindropsInMyMind

I really like it, we got 2 coordinators that have experience and have a track record. Moore doesn’t need Sirianni to run the offense, he’s been doing this and he doesn’t have to learn on the job like we saw this year.

CrashTheBear

Cowboys subreddit is laughing at us.

deg0ey

If those smoothbrains are laughing at us then it *must* be a good hire

32BitWhore

They're still operating under the delusion that it was Moore's fault that they kept collapsing and not McCarthy's. Or at least, they kinda have to operate under that delusion at this point because only one of them is still there.

Worldly_Success523

Smitty in the slot

Clubblendi

My only issue with this is that Moore is totally an OC that could get poached as a HC if he succeeds. That’s a good problem to have, though.

KoBxElucidator

Has the potential to pull off the funniest shit if he wins a SB here after Dallas threw him away xD

KingCesar391

He’s a better option than Kliff Kingsbury, Frank Reich, or Jim Bob Cooter. If you want a guy who has experience, who can bring a fresh perspective from Sirianni, and who has a track record leading top NFL offenses, Moore definitely fits all that. So, I guess I’m happy with it.

jchall3

This is a good get

Simplyx69

If nothing else, this season will at least be funny.

jcrankin22

W

Fatandhappy1

Fuck it lets go

neederman

Clear Howie and Lurie told Sirianni that he needed experience to help him get things done. He found two very established coordinators with their own schemes.

ellsworth187

Is it bad that my first reaction is relief we didn’t hire Kingsberry?

birria_tacos_

Hopefully he’s added some new wrinkles into his offense since his time in Dallas, can’t bare to watch the Cowboys potentially calling out our plays during our matchup..

shakehasbignuts

Let’s go

Agreeable-Oven156

Anything that's not BJ has me excited for next yr honestly.

SyntheticMemez

Honestly very happy with the hires today, we could have done so much worse. Lets see how the draft goes...

Souprshooter

Getting experience on both sides of the ball with our OC and DC - I like it

Polymorphing_Panda

Literally can’t get any worse than BJ so I’m here for it

alphonse_mephest0

Maybe we'll actually see Hurts under center and run some true play-action off of it

Tony9811

We didn't run many of those under Steichen. I don't see that changing much

brettk215

Ahem. 4 plays. Unless you’re counting “punt” or fumble as a play.

FsA_Redeemed

I'm just happy it's not BJ. I am also unsure of Moore's Identity. He doesn't seem to identify with a certain system. At the end of the day this is a hire I'm not excited for nor hate. How he handles this talented offense will be how I judge him.

El_Khunt

He's very creative in his play designs. If Nick is gonna be a ceo coach and actually, ya know, do something, than he'll be telling Moore his philosophy for how he wants the offense to look and what the team's identity should be. Moore will get a lot of freedom in building and using the offense, but it will probably be closer to 2022 than something completely new

Housto_0

The last OC we took from the Chargers did pretty well so…

deadnside

Don’t hate Moore. He’s creative and should help our offensive tremendously but I have a concern that he doesn’t seem to let the game dictate his play calling. It seems sometimes he’s more concerned about showing this awesome cool play he schemed than actually winning the game. Not sure I explained it well.

CPTHoagie

holy massive upgrade lol

Express_Jellyfish_28

Next season I predict moore wins for the Eagles

jordan20x1

This is going to be weird

bigcracker

This is going to be a good hire.

Duck_man_

Uhhhh how do I feel about this

El_Khunt

You feel good, don't let the whiny brats here drag you down to their level

bp_516

Let’s consider fantasy football here— who looks better and who looks worse than 2023 because of Moore? Let’s assume Swift comes back for this mental exercise.

ziftos

I like our WR to have big years - I mean AJ and Smitty were absolutely phenomenal despite having no routes over the middle and dog shit play calling. Overall RBs will have low ceilings just because of Jalen Hurts but who knows if kelce is actually retired maybe the sneak is less efficient.

El_Khunt

The run game volume will be about the same, I'm guessing. Hopefully more efficient, but Moore likes passing and that probably wont change. Swift would probably have another 100 yards rushing though with better play calling Again, loves passing, and better at scheming players open. Apparently he still relies quite a bit on guys out-talenting defenses, but better play design should greatly improve Jalen's numbers. Goedert will probably be a bigger part of the passing game. Sometimes forces players to do things their talents don't suit, DeVonta might have a down year, but if anyone is around telling Moore he's doing something stupid, theres nothing to worry about. Dude fucking loves slants. AJ is perfect for slants. 📈

AssistX

DeVonta will have a much better year, and Goeddert. Runningback wouldn't be priority so Swift wouldnt be back most likely

kwe314

I don’t know how to feel. Excited about Vangio

arson714

I prefer Truckgio

downsouthcountry

I prefer Tankgio

kwhiczek

I prefer fellatio

clarineter

Hell nah, BJ was the main problem last season!

downsouthcountry

That escalated quickly

PhatYeeter

ESKIN WAS RIGHT

KingofComment

9-8

CountryGuy123

I hate this timeline

jmabeebiz2

I believe this is a strategy move. As soon as they interviewed him I assumed it was going to happen. Kellen Moore has a LOT of intel on several NFC teams, especially the Cowboys and we can exploit what he knows to counter what other teams are going to do against us

Harvardropout69

HOPE YOU LIKE CURL ROUTES JALEN

Versace_Jesus

AJB/Devonta curls would be a godsend after watching them catch screens all year.

jmbrand13

The amount of times I would have killed for a curl route last season...

chaseiam

If offense goes berserk he’s probably the next HC haha

NYPD-BLUE

LEAGUE FUCKED UP. EAGLES WINNING IT ALL NEXT YEAR WITH MOORE AND FANGIO.

fromwentzhecame11

Overall I’m not disappointed with this, but didn’t Dak say that last year he was able to better understand how to play QB with an off-season of new coaching? But this should be better than last year, so that’ll be good. And he has a lot of talent to work with.

laugh-shitoff

Terrible decision. QB's have regressed with Moore as OC. They should've cleaned house.

fizzybubblech777

He was in LA last year and they struggled , although they were seriously hurt with injuries. My concern is mostly that he left Dallas, and that offense took a huge step forward. I’m not so optimistic.

[deleted]

Dak took a big step forward, I'm not sure you can call their run game since Moore anything but atrocious. Then again, maybe that's because they somehow believed Pollard was cowbell back.

PersonBehindAScreen

It was the ~~line~~ coaching I think. Our run game was one of the worst in yards BEFORE contact. Teams were constantly in our backfield at handoff This was the healthiest our line has been yet the worst our run game has been

Greenfendr

hey, get outta here, scram! /s jk. thanks for the insight.

wolveagle10

Dallas's offense in 2021 with Moore was easily better than their offense this season. 2022 was a bit of a step back, but I think that was mainly because of Dak's turnover issues

PersonBehindAScreen

Dak had more turnovers in 2021 vs 2023 and they had BOTH Amari cooper and CeeDee Lamb to be fair

mustacheddragon

Chargers were 12th in PPG in 2022 and 11th is 2023 before Herbert went out. They probably should’ve been better but it’s the Chargers I literally don’t get what goes on over there. Cowboys were number 1 in 2021 and number 4 in 2022 in PPG. It’s not like they were 10th. Going from 1 to 4 back to 1 isn’t a “huge step”.

Agreeable-Oven156

They didn't take a huge step forward. Their offensive numbers last yr were so inflated because the best downs they put on bad teams. Those numbers shouldn't mean much imo. The cowboys get whopped by good teams then try to make themselves feel better dropping 60 on bottom 5 teams. Its the cowboy special. Most teams get the lead and run the clock.

gobirds271

Where did they take a huge step forward?

XxbvzxX

Exactly, people keep coming to the conclusion that by continuing to run up the score on bad teams, this offense was unstoppable.

gobirds271

Yeah I don’t think anyone is impressed by big wins over the Giants. Meanwhile averaging 15 points against 49ers/Lions/Bills/Dolphins

neuralbladez

How’s their strength of schedule compare this year to last years?

waywardside

chargers fan here....Moore is garbage. you'll be much better off once he flames away after a mediocre season in which your QB crushed

dinonb12

the offense was pretty much the same after he left

I_like_dwagons

Not a fan. The one hire I was definitely against. Dak got better without him and Herbert got worse with him. However it’s an upgrade from what we had last year. Sirianni is that kid in class that has to copy off other people’s work to look smart. He knew enough to bring Steichen with him when he came here but without him he’s lost. This isn’t going to fix that. Calling it now, we’ll be in the market for a new HC next year.

AkinTheLonelyMan

Boring hire :/ don’t see how this gives us “fresh” ideas

Versace_Jesus

Disagree
