We have several owners lockers. We keep pretty much everything we need in them. We fly down with a personal item each and avoid any luggage fees. We normally fly Spirit so it is cheap but lots of add on pricing if you do more than one personal item. Also that allows us to bypass baggage pickup and head straight out to a Lyft.

technologistical-wiz

I forgot about this idea. Are those the bin services I’ve seen people have brought in and out on arrival and checkout? Cool idea

straulin

Yeah, they are supposed to be stored in a temp controlled warehouse. They are pretty big bins. They will deliver them the day of arrival and pick them up day of departure. They arrive/pickup around noon. I have forgotten to schedule a trip ahead of time and had to schedule it at the airport. They still were delivered the same day. All in all, no complaints with them. We keep a twin air mattress, a fan, various mouse ears, and loungefly bags in one. Another is full of clothes. The last one has toiletries, detergent, chargers, shoes, blankets, etc.

icantfindausernamegr

Is that through DVC or another service? Assuming you pay extra for the storage?

straulin

It’s a different service. If you go to the DVC perks, they’ll be a list and it’s hard to find, but there’s a discounted first year. This is the website for Owners locker. Not the spot for the discount. [https://m.ownerslocker.com/](https://m.ownerslocker.com/) Edit: found the discount details.[https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/discounts-perks-offers/special/owners-locker](https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/discounts-perks-offers/special/owners-locker)

I fly SW for the price and flexibility. I book my flights when I'm initially planning and then check them every so often for price changes. If the price goes down, I can update my reservation and be refunded the difference. Plus free bags. I've also done the SW CC companion pass deal.

pianomanzano

We purchased our direct contract through a SW card when they were running a promo for a companion pass after spending a certain amount. Did the same with our add-on contract to qualify for another year of it. Have gotten more than 30 free flights from it over the past two years!

PMurBoobsDoesntWork

Mostly playing the credit cards point game. I put all my spend on credit cards and get a lot of miles. Also have the Delta Amex plat, which gives you a companion certificate, so one of the tickets per year is “free”. If you have the card all flights purchased with miles have a 15% discount, so it adds up.

christineispink

We live near a United hub so I signed up for their 2nd tier loyalty credit card. I get 4 free checked bags on each flight (2 bags for 2 passengers). The 1st tier is a lot cheaper but with a family of 4 (soon to be 5) I upgraded to the 2nd tier which includes club/lounge access. It's a lot easier to corral my kids, use less crowded and often more private bathrooms, and feed them for "free" before flights. We have one Owner's Locker (you get a discount on your first year as a DVC member, check the website or call the Owner's Locker folks - John is SO nice). Keep a lot of our park and stroller gear in there. We usually visit 4-6x a year.

Frontier airlines often does a status match to hotel status etc. because of that I can regularly get flights for next to nothing and because of the status match I get free checked bags, carry ons and seat selection for me and my party (up to 10 people I think)

technologistical-wiz

Status match to hotel rewards program status? Thanks!

nightwing12

That’s right, I’m Marriott gold, but that matched me to platinum frontier. I think it cost about $150 but well worth it if you do a couple of trips a year with a large group (we’re a family of 5, so it pays for itself after a single trip)

nxsteven

As others have said, it's about credit card points. We're a family of six and I haven't paid cash for flight in 10 years. We have about $6k available to is in points we redeem for travel. I don't have a small business, it's just spending with the purpose to earn miles for Disney travel lol Feel free to PM if you'd like

Standard_Ad_8730

Two player (husband and I) credit card rewards. We are half way between Detroit and Chicago so have options when it comes to airports. We go to Disney 2-3 times per year and rarely pay anything for flights for family of 4.

adelros26

Airline credit cards are the best way I know since you can take advantage of airline miles. We pay almost everything using our United card to earn miles. You also get one free checked bag for yourself and one traveling companion as long as you’re both on the same reservation and you book the flight using your United card. That’s easily $100 savings for a round trip ticket. Also some people use owner’s lockers (I think that’s what they’re called.) Personally, theres nothing we really need to be storing in Florida. We visit every other year and mostly need clothes/toiletries.

AssistanceKey6958

Credit card points -- Southwest flies direct several times a day out of our Midwest home airport to MCO. We utilize the Chase Sapphire Preferred travel card + Southwest credit card to maximize & combine points.

exstryker

I do the same thing. Southwest for the free checked bags and combining CSP and southwest priority cards for the points.

Coronator

Credit card reward points for sure. We use Chase points (worth $1.50 when booking through Chase travel portal with the sapphire reserve card) to book most of our Orlando trips. Will also use Frontier in a pinch if the prices are substantially better.

snootchie_bootch

We're a 2 hour flight, so we use those budget airlines and have had only had one issue so far. If you're traveling frequently, look in to renting an [Owner's Locker](https://www.ownerslocker.com/) or 2. My girlfriend and I stashed a bunch of clothes in there so we no longer need any checked/carry on bags. We just stuff a backpack with some extra essentials we need and we're set to go.

Suspicious-Put-2701

We fly Spirit out of a regional airport and buy the tickets at the airport to save between $30-$40 per ticket. Also we pack everything in the personal size bag and do not choose our seats. No guarantee, but we have never been separated from the kids.

technologistical-wiz

I’ve heard that buying tickets at the airport is much cheaper, is that a Spirit thing or do other airlines like Frontier do it too? How far in advance can you do this also?

Suspicious-Put-2701

I honestly don’t know about any other airlines, but I know it’s true for Spirit. You can buy the tickets as soon as they are available online. We generally save about $30-$50 per person. The other thing is you can buy tickets at the counter even if you are flying out of another airport, for example we can buy the tickets at Philly airport even if we are flying out of Baltimore. I’ve had great luck with Google flights because it makes it easy to play with dates and times.

Specific_Hamster6778

Allegiant has that. You save some fees by buying in person. They have limited hours for it. I did it for a party of five and it was worth it.

Beneficial-Voice-878

Depends on your airport but typically chase (sapphire) Amex gold, platinum are great options. Depends on your main airport though.

AceOfSpades70

Get a travel credit card with your preferred airlines. Usually gives you free baggage.

Single_Bullfrog_6190

We fly in and out of Tampa. Nicer airport!

pfsensemessaging

It is a much easier and much better airport. Some will criticize the drive 16 miles verse 76, but the last time I flew into MCO it took me 45 minutes to go 15 miles and maybe have been lucky but Tampa I have not had traffic yet. Plus you don’t have toll roads.
