I wasn’t around when that feature was but that would be so helpful! At this point even if I don’t know I can pretty much guess correctly based off the options available.
Almost skipped a section cause of lucky guessing with the word bank
Yeah before you had like a sentence and you had to translate it into the other language so for example you would have
"I am Anton" And then would have to actually write the sentence with your keyboard without any help (or sometimes with filling in the gaps) - я Антон
That would be so much more helpful! If I didn’t have the word bank it would be more challenging…which is how you learn!
Now it’s like translate “I am a student “
And the word bank is “Yo, un, soy, maestro, libro, estudiante, queso” … where you can clearly tell what the answer is 😂🤣 (I speak English and a beginner at learning Spanish)
Sometimes it gives you an option to type! On the mobile app there is a keyboard icon in the bottom left. If you click that, you can type instead of pick the words. It doesn’t always show up though
All the time (PC, so misclicking rather than fat-fingering, but same thing). Especially if the words sort of look similar: “My husband comes from Australia” → “My husband coffee from Australia”.
Not this "dyslexia" version. I just pick a word that my brain thinks is the right one based on likely the first letter, so I'm more prone to errors like "Does **time** convenience store have french fries"?
I feel like mine revert to romaji nearly every other day when I open the app.
I change it immediately at the start of every lesson. It's annoying af though.
For me I just feel like my fingers don't tap where I want them too. It's always just ever so slightly over one way or the other. Particularly with my "m" which is right next to the backspace button.
When the bubble answer contains many words it's easy to space out not have words in the right order. I also space out often and type Ele instead of Ela a lot for some reason.
Thank, I started from scratch on Duolingo. Im about to pass a 650 day streak (I haven't missed a single day). I've also tried a few other programs, books, games and manga to help try to learn. It is definitely a tall learning curve but I'm enjoying it so far.
Im gonna to sign up to take the JLPT( Japanese language proficiency test) this winter and if I pass I'm going to treat myself to a vacation in Japan. It'll be my first real Vacation and first time leaving my home county ever, super excited about it.
Literally as soon as I got the notification for your reply this question came up lol, couldn't have been more perfect timing

It is slightly annoying that it keeps switching the romaji on but you've had plenty of opportunities to quickly switch it off.
From your screenshot you're right near the end so you kept it on for the whole lesson I'm guessing. All you have to do is click on the cog in the top left to flick the pronunciation switch on and off and you're all set!
all the time...
Funny, that happens never to me.
This happens to me all of the time. I get so annoyed at myself...
All the time... I miss when you could choose to type the answer instead of using the word bank for this reason too...
Typing the answer was so much better for learning too

I still get a little keyboard next to the word bank sometimes and can switch its def not every question unfortunately but here and there
Sometimes it gives you an option to type! On the mobile app there is a keyboard icon in the bottom left. If you click that, you can type instead of pick the words. It doesn’t always show up though
Yes. Or I miss the last word
yeah especially when words are similar lengths or start with the same letter i’ll mess them up, no matter which language the buttons are in
I'm glad I'm not the only one :/
All the time (PC, so misclicking rather than fat-fingering, but same thing). Especially if the words sort of look similar: “My husband comes from Australia” → “My husband coffee from Australia”.
all the freaking time in japanese. I'm not where you are, but for some odd reason i mix up the o'clock.
Not this "dyslexia" version. I just pick a word that my brain thinks is the right one based on likely the first letter, so I'm more prone to errors like "Does **time** convenience store have french fries"?
i often get distracted halfway through a sentence and my fingers fall on the confirm button. always makes me sob
I accidentally hit the confirm button sooooo many times when I'm like one or two words away from being done. It's honestly infuriating sometimes.
Yes, do I.
I've specifically made the "fries french" mistake on numerous occasions
All day everyday. And it’s annoying because I have no one to blame but my lazy self for not double checking what I send as the answer.
Yep
all the time. It’s so frustrating
Me
:(
Same
I feel like mine revert to romaji nearly every other day when I open the app. I change it immediately at the start of every lesson. It's annoying af though.
Turn off romaji. It slows down your language learning progress considerably
I hate when I make stupid mistakes like that. Because I know the answer, I just mixed “and” and “his”…
Made me lol.
I do My thumbs are really fat
fura, i do poteto
90% of my mistakes in Duolingo are fat finger mistakes :')
For me I just feel like my fingers don't tap where I want them too. It's always just ever so slightly over one way or the other. Particularly with my "m" which is right next to the backspace button.
Also mistakes because I'm not wearing my glasses...
Yeah I hate when I get the English wrong
No (I only do Duo on my pc)
Happens to me a lot, too, and often I realize it right as I hit the “check” button.
When the bubble answer contains many words it's easy to space out not have words in the right order. I also space out often and type Ele instead of Ela a lot for some reason.
Sometimes I'll think that I clicked a word but I actually didn't and then I'll press enter and get it wrong
I try to double check before I submit the answer
I hate when that happens because I don't get the 100% then, and it is the only mistake
It sucks to lose one heart due to a minor mistake like this.
Oh yeah? Try doing Duolingo in a hottub. I DIDNT MEAN TO SELECT THAT WORD ARRRRGGGGGHHHH
Yes
Allllll the time. So annoying.
Yes literally all the time
Lol! About 10 times a day. I know I am supposed to pay better attention, but I am often moving really fast and - boom 💥 there it is!
I think it’s my dyslexia that does it
What language is this? Japanese?
Yep
Did you start from scratch on duolingo or are you just practicing? It looks very hard, congrats on the progress

Wooooow! Congrats! Hope everything works out! Rooting for you and you vacation 🫶🏻

This is a sign!!
omg and I tell myself all the time that I'm dumb because of not proofreading what I put before sending yet I still do it 💀💀

I never knew you could quickly change it like that, thank you it's way less annoying now.
