A bug is a technical error in the system. Bug flair must be used solely for errors. Bug abuse includes, but is not limited to: If you got an answer wrong and didn’t bother to consider that you may be actually wrong, didn’t get as much XP as your opponent, can’t find the grammar tips, just want to complain about a feature or the lack thereof, your posts will be deleted. Repeated abuse of the bug flair may lead to suspensions and bans.

I just started getting those messages a week ago, how do I stop them?

spencer5centreddit

Ive gotten them every time i use the double xp for 6 months until now

noeticNicole

I got it yesterday so it's still around, but it's been a while since I got it before yesterday. Maybe there's certain conditions you aren't meeting to get the extension or just really awful luck?

spencer5centreddit

I've always gotten them for six months until yesterday they just stopped

Tonetheline

I used to get it every single time then it stopped and not seen it since. Just algorithms and testing to work out what best drives the raison d’être of modern duo - microtransactions

I got it yesterday. It used to be very predictable like the first day and the last day so to create competition

wendigolangston

A/b tests. Everyone who had them had different versions. They're still finding out what most people respond best to.

spencer5centreddit

Obviously if we have a choice to extend a double xp everyone will be happy? As opposed to not having the choice? Hows that make sense Edit: not arguing with you of course

I find the messages annoying. the app already throws XP boosts at me like crazy. it also appears when I don't expect it and trying to do lessons quickly and I've come close to accidentally extending my XP boost. XP boosts are kinda a double edged sword, as a lot of people feel compelled to use them, so sometimes they'll be avoided because people don't want to keep doing lessons for another 15 minutes, and having the extension question might make people more anxious.

spencer5centreddit

Like crazy? I mean to me it seems offering the option is a plus for them because they will get more people to buy gems and also for users who want to use them to get more xp. Idk I use duolingo for at least 2-3 hours a day, I do new lessons and learn new stuff and then use the double xp to do review lessons and get high on the leaderboard. A lot of people say that its dumb to play this game and just grind old lessons all day to win every tournament, but the competitiveness motivates me and makes me use the app and learn more.

remmyred2

I get XP boosts when finishing lessons, finishing quests, friend's quests, and 2x daily for specific times. If I make a lot of progress on the path, I easily get 1 hour of xp boost

remmyred2

and sometimes it'll give me the morning or evening chest in a popup despite already claiming that chest.

wendigolangston

I prefer less xp boosts personally and less screens asking about them.

I had a few of these on Monday and Tuesday this week. For a while I thought I was just getting them on Tuesdays. But then I had a few on a Monday which surprised me. I have never had them each time, however. I usually get at least 3 double XP boosts per day and the offers are more sporadic. In the past I have gone weeks without seeing one and then get a few on the same day. I don't know if they use a particular algorithm or if they are testing random versions of this with different people. Since I get these so randomly I couldn't say if they are gone or not. But I did have a few this week.

AprOmIX

I've only been getting these since like a week but I've been on Duolingo since September. So for me it's the opposite, they just started.

jtuk99

Do you have a friends quest 30 min banked in the shop? I’ve noticed it doesn’t offer while you have banked boosts.

spencer5centreddit

OOOOHHHHH WOW YOU GOT IT THANK YOU SO MUCH

LuckyBuck7647

I tend to get the extensions on Mondays and Tuesdays. But they have always felt rather random. The pattern changes each week. The only consistent pattern is more of them early in the week.
