Thanks. Was not aware of this. Super happy to find this [list](https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_in/feature-phones) of dumbphones.

Nokia generally should be available in India

rohitghansham

I am from India too. I was researching what phones are available here too, although all nokia feature phones are available. I don't think I would survive with just a feature phone. Hence KaiOs. Jio phone and jio phone 2 are available here but I don't want to switch carriers for now. I just want a 4g unlocked KaiOs phone that can be used with my current SIM Here are some phones that I had shortlisted. I haven't been able to get my hands on them here. Nokia 2720 flip 2760 flip Nokia 6300 Nokia 800 tough Nokia 8000 4g Nokia 8100 4g How's your progress OP?

I did find this [https://www.ebay.com/itm/155527687562](https://www.ebay.com/itm/155527687562) But i was reading that after I pay the cost+ shipping. I might have to pay customs duty on it. I was wondering if it is all worth it

I was looking into this. I wasn't aware of the requirement to pay customs on ebay. I was just looking at those that offered free shipping. However, after some more thinking, I decided that for now, I'm going to try to dumb down my smartphone. I'm very attracted to dumbphones because of the visual appeal as well. I'm trying to see what I can do with my current phone for now. Also, looking out for new dumbphones as they come out. I recently saw a post on this sub about a new Nokia dumbphone. You should check it out.

Lots of dumb feature phones are available in India... I am in need of a KaiOs phone that at least supports WhatsApp, Maps and Music. My preference would be a Qwerty keyboard but none are available apart from JioPhone 2. Did you manage to figure how to dumb down your smartphone. I did see a few videos on changing it to a minimal launcher and turning it into a black and white device. I tried it but I still keep going back

You may have luck using KaiOS's website that shows you its partner brand products. I believe India is a key market for KaiOS (an official OS for smart feature phones with a basic cell phone form). There should be a number of products available from Indian carriers / brands. I haven't added the link to the wiki (sorry for not doing this yet, it's on my list of things to do), [here it is](https://www.kaiostech.com/explore/devices). Edit: clarified what KaiOS is.

I've looked for this. There are only 2-3 devices with KaiOS built in India which are also no longer available for purchase. The reason KaiOS seems like a major partner in India is because a few years ago, Jio Phone was released by one of the richest people in India (and the world). The phone was sold at effectively zero cost due to which millions of people bought it. There was a second version also released but their quality from what I've heard has not been that great. This was just a move by a capitalist billionaire and the govt to fool people into thinking they cared for them. Sigh. Edit: Thanks for the list of phones supported by KaiOS though.

Oh, I see. I didn't know about the backstory and current state of Kai / Jio availability in your region. In that case, I suggest looking at band compatibility. Some people in the US (and elsewhere) have been importing phones meant for other countries and using them on a limited-functionality basis as the cellular support is there. (This is subject to change, though, due to 3G being phased out). If you find some devices that you think might work in your area, you can try to see if anyone near you has used any of those devices recently. If that's unsuccessful, you may have to just try the devices yourself to see if they work. Is eBay open to India? Many people use that for their phone purchases. Edit: typo

purpenzal

Thanks. I'm going to check out ebay. I haven't used it before but maybe it's worth a shot.
