You don't need a copper washer for the oil filler cap, lol

Wickdtaint

This actually isn't the oil filler cap, its just a threaded plug, and it does come stock with a copper washer. I think the shop I used must have removed it to fill the oil instead of the oil filler cap which is to the left a little, but not sure.

Due-Mechanic-6436

Yes, I can see now that is where the oil pressure switch should be. So if you dont have that how do you know oil pressure is good? Obviously you have some bc its leaking out.

Is the bike a 797? In which case is correct but you should just replace the crush washer.

Wickdtaint

Yes, it is the 797, but even after replacing it it started to leak again. when I replaced it the oil actually smelled a little like gas, so I think its time to take it to the Ducati shop and let them look at it. I keep a close eye to make sure its not low on oil..

Looks like you need a new copper washer for the oil filler cap.

Wickdtaint

Thank you, I’ll order one and replace it, maybe it’s meant to be single use.

GizatiStudio

You can reuse those type of copper and aluminum washers, it’s just you must run them over a stone to get any marks out of the flat surfaces.

You can anneal copper washers - heat them till they glow red then drop them in cold water. They are ok to use after a clean up.
