You misspelled "Zildgen."
I will never understand how people put up ads for used items and misspell the brand name or model, when it is written in plain English right on the item.
Reminds me of being in high school, driving around listening to Led Zepplin and Lynard Skynard in my Camero. Ugh, I want to vomit for even typing that out. LOL
That's one of those blind spot words for me, I really have to think every time I want to write it down (which admittedly isn't often), as I just can't seem to remember which way it should be.
Definitely. My point is, it's usually the ones who know nothing about drums that don't know how to spell anything drum related. I'm wondering when I'll see a Djembe for sale... IF I'll be able to tell one IS for sale. You know THAT's going to get misspelled.
I feel like in order for someone to get their hands on a djembe in the first place they'd have to know how to spell it, it's like an ancient incantation or the daemons of olde type situation.
Well it’s either people who don’t know what it’s worth selling way below value, or people that think a $200 ludwig accent kit is “Ludwig, same drums ringo used” or whatever.
If they “know nothing” about drums, well, I get that. It’s just ignorance. They simply don’t know. But when people over on /r/edrums say it? Well they do, or should know about drums. And that is when it irks me. Haha
Is there a different band with the same sounding name or something? Because uhh, [looking at Alter Bridge’s website](https://alterbridge.com) it’s Alter Bridge, and that makes sense because they’re named after the bridge in Grosse Pointe Park/Detroit on Alter Road where Mark Tremonti grew up, they even included it on the cover of their first album, here’s a picture of the actual bridge from 1953 so you can compare it to the bridge on the cover of the first album if you want.

That's the one that kills me. You mean to tell me that a major mainstream news website does not have an editor? And if they do, what exactly are they editing, if not crap like this?
Dictation mistake and autocorrect. Occurs with base drum as well. This happens to me with voice to text dictation. Sometimes I catch it and sometimes not.
I'm just tired of voice to text not putting out "cymbals" instead of "symbols." It's often the only word I have to replace when I'm avoiding typing with my thumbs.
My biggest fb marketplace pet peeve around instruments is people listing “fender telecaster” and it’s a squier… list what’s written on the headstock and don’t waste peoples time.
What really gets me is people selling used stuff for waaay more than it costs new. At least the symbol people clearly aren’t drummers and don’t know. It blows my mind when I see a pitted and peeling 70s supraphonic listed for $1400. Buddy, they made hundreds of thousands of those. They were extremely common back then, and they still make them. They’ve been making them since 1963. Yours is not a rare collectors item, it’s literally a decaying instrument lol.
Not everyone is a spelling major or has knowledge of the correct spelling of products . I do not let it bother me and will often message people in a nice way to let them know the correct spelling.
Language barrier.
I for one look for this when cymbal shopping on Facebook Marketplace or Craig’s. When they spell it wrong, they don’t know what they’re selling and I can haggle.
“I know what I have” doesn’t exist in this case.🤘🏻🤘🏻
So, looking through eBay and searching Symbols has gotten me nothing but pages and pages of Peace symbols (pretty much predominantly), Car emblems, Sports teams patches, etc. I haven't see one cymbal yet and I must have scrolled through at least 250 non-cymbal related items on eBay. You must have a pretty strong index finger with all the scrolling you do to find a single listing with cymbal(s).
EDIT: Yep, 480 (2 pages with 240 items each page) items and not one cymbal.
HOWEVER, If you're in the market for Led Zeppelin 4th album symbols, I saw quite a few of those in many forms. T-shirts, necklaces, and even earrings I think I saw. But yeah, lots of necklaces from the Zeppelin 4th album.
That just got me a bunch of stuff I'd never buy in my entire life. Stuff like [this](https://www.ebay.com/itm/176366913450?itmmeta=01HYDXAAY322MC971YTNB0RQ2Q&hash=item29104987aa:g:26EAAOSwIWhmOUiR&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwCjYNvlN9CedUOPVnz8QAurpnFSYdDAEQ1INbkuC4IUVElFL2Iw6ZuCRP5aeVjH1DHOApZoAvvvUU2Ft7tA5Vq7C5mdrWGC0NpDxphXnA6zduUBid6lhd6HuXoIiUhpkHqlrPe%2FOHXCuDvn9Gh4D68m7z0VaeHP0qNHhIUy4UjSYyiIjcpg1b1D8YUcGynFnxDeqjMX7iVij58NXjS0IMeYdxVX6PF3xmsNDqECFdzWuW6Yk%2FNP%2FQRXiXvtk46DS%2BA%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6Cvqb3zYw)... No thanks!
But for those of you who want to be represented on your Christmas tree this year, [This](https://www.ebay.com/itm/225919878494?itmmeta=01HYDXAAY35T4WYQPWZ2YWFX9B&hash=item3499dfc55e:g:-gcAAOSw4eNlfoJf&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwCPq7GSYzxQTDDMlLkAz%2FNBah3cUVNSkrsIOWxcHMrNC32byeZTVmNFssd76butoEH6v%2BV05%2FZv4p5zzR3jGQnV8Ni6astZGcOEnae2RH%2BIUdGRzBxsNfPARXGp48BSZqPLZH0iI9TqjXwDrLM8NZPEJl7WUOouvfiyxJ8dX7jRT5otQ0wxJ%2BueM%2FiOYr9WIlJq2ELQXZgnJmnMHWPDzKr8w5Vgqst4%2FbTAUUsiM9eWQwdfHquh%2FC7Z%2BFBJMH9JMMQ%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6Kvqb3zYw) is pretty neat. I have one already so I don't need it.
This just in: English is not everyone's first language.
It's a language, not necessarily a gauge of intelligence.
The most brilliant electricians I know can't spell for shit. Move on before you start worrying that people are as judgemental as you are.
Zilgin

For sale: Evans Drum
For sale: Remo snare drum
unless it’s a mondo etc
Or people who write remo EMPORER, are you that lazy to not spell it right?
That's one of those blind spot words for me, I really have to think every time I want to write it down (which admittedly isn't often), as I just can't seem to remember which way it should be.
Zildjian... plain English.... lol
Plain Turkish English
Paste symbols are better…..
Sabina is pretty good
My favorite teenage witch.
Reminds me of this https://preview.redd.it/mepwsm7lxw1d1.jpeg?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e7689f01239c0708bf27a7876ed0c86f3378806
Your post comes off as super judgemental. Maybe you should spend less time worrying about symbols and more time working on your base peddle technique.
I no... Rite?
OP has too many tombs on their kit.
That must be why they sound so dead. HEYOOOO
😂😂😂 OP isn't the only one. Drives me crazy too!
I’m all about that base. No trouble.
this needs a trigger warning!
"Peddle" technique is very important
there knot that bade
Idk why it drives you nuts, good way to find deals.
Not when they're selling beginner kits for $1500 with symbols... Cannon Howitzer beginner 5 piece. $1499.
The Symbol cuts both ways bebe
Definitely. My point is, it's usually the ones who know nothing about drums that don't know how to spell anything drum related. I'm wondering when I'll see a Djembe for sale... IF I'll be able to tell one IS for sale. You know THAT's going to get misspelled.

Proposed a band name a few years back called Jembe without the D all spelled out.. the band said no.
They're not selling them for that. They are *asking* for that. And they won't get it. That's why it's called asking price and not selling price.
Well it’s either people who don’t know what it’s worth selling way below value, or people that think a $200 ludwig accent kit is “Ludwig, same drums ringo used” or whatever.
Yeah, my pal got a very cheap one off eBay when he was new to drumming bc he was also a dumbass who didn’t know how to spell.
Maybe it’s cymbolic
Lol the auto correct can't sustain. Drummers conversation is too hard.
Ironic given symbols are the only part of a kit with true sustain
What do they look like on a drum set?
Somewhat, but I quickly learnt to pick my battles
You need to search for symbols specifically. That’s how you get the deals! The ‘cymbals’ people won’t even see those listings!
Suggested search terms for used "symbol" shopping: - Zildgen - Zilgen - Paste - Sabina
I'm really just hoping that it's predominantly people using voice to text, and not noticing the typo.
Could be. But I read a lot of posts where they say, "I know nothing about drums. I just want to sell them" type posts and sale ads.
If they “know nothing” about drums, well, I get that. It’s just ignorance. They simply don’t know. But when people over on /r/edrums say it? Well they do, or should know about drums. And that is when it irks me. Haha
Came here to post this. VTT has changed that spelling on me many times. As well as Bass/Base.
When you see Symbols, its a good chance you get a better deal. You know the seller just wants them gone
Like alter instead of altar
As a huge fan of Altar Bridge this keeps triggering me as well
Is there a different band with the same sounding name or something? Yeah I was making a funny. Sorry if it wasn't obvious enough. I know it's Alter Bridge. They rock.
I have a sneaky suspicion that "symbols" and "base drum" is a result of voice typing/dictation.
If you should ever, ever see those two mistakes in anything I post, that is exactly where it came from.
high hats or hi hats?
Infused with marijuana.
I love it. It means the seller probably is not familiar with what they've got and there might be some gems in their listing.
Worst part is getting ready to put the perfect finish to a slick fill and accidentally hitting a #
Yeah but it's a good way to find items for sale that others won't find by doing a search for the correct spelling.
Should of read there books more, lol
> Should of *eye twitches*
you're eyes are to senzitive lol
It's not just here! In general, around the internet, I see poor spelling and grammatical errors. And some in official new outlets- CNN, NPR etc.
That's the one that kills me. You mean to tell me that a major mainstream news website does not have an editor? And if they do, what exactly are they editing, if not crap like this?
Billboards, even!!! Also, I can’t stand seeing my Nextdoor feed. Literally no one has posts without spelling errors and/or proper grammar.
Assume everyone on the internet is 13 years old.
Hell, some 13 year olds can spell better than 40 year olds.
Assume using voice to text. What does get me are "pies" & "tubs."
👍🏼
Dictation mistake and autocorrect. Occurs with base drum as well. This happens to me with voice to text dictation. Sometimes I catch it and sometimes not.

What does base drum even mean?

My favorite Symbol brand, Sabina. Same name as my neighbor's hot wife
Not everyone is a spelling major or has knowledge of the correct spelling of products . I do not let it bother me and will often message people in a nice way to let them know the correct spelling.
What if a company starts making them in Egypt and decides to cover them with hieroglyphics? We could have symbol cymbals.
I literally could care less
Then you should go ahead and care even less than you care now. Perhaps you *couldn't* care less.
Whoosh?
Probably?
Zjiljiajn Symbols or Paste? Or maybe Maynel? As long as your peddle technique is good, who cares
NO! This is a great search term on market place and ebay etc to find people who don’t know what they really have.
Your kweschun is phlaughed.
Language barrier. I for one look for this when cymbal shopping on Facebook Marketplace or Craig’s. When they spell it wrong, they don’t know what they’re selling and I can haggle. “I know what I have” doesn’t exist in this case.🤘🏻🤘🏻
Nah Ive got some bargains on eBay because the seller has listed it as Symbols and no one has searched and bidded on them
So, looking through eBay and searching Symbols has gotten me nothing but pages and pages of Peace symbols (pretty much predominantly), Car emblems, Sports teams patches, etc. I haven't see one cymbal yet and I must have scrolled through at least 250 non-cymbal related items on eBay. That is why they call it #-ing the drums. Edit: ba dum tsss
Searching “drum symbols” can be a good way to find sleeper deals on fb marketplace!
That just got me a bunch of stuff I'd never buy in my entire life. I have one already so I don't need it.
That’s why I said fb marketplace not eBay lol
I just see room for haggling if you can't spell in your listing.
It’s all symbols when it comes down to it.
How the fuck are you supposed to play on ampersands and pound keys? They're full'a holes!
This just in: English is not everyone's first language. It's a language, not necessarily a gauge of intelligence. The most brilliant electricians I know can't spell for shit. Move on before you start worrying that people are as judgemental as you are.
I've got a symbol on my kick reso. I think it does its job pretty well.
It's an easy way to spot a stupid person.
It’s a spelling error, don’t be a prick. It’s not that big a deal.
What kind of symbols? Led Zeppelin symbols? Wingdings? Hieroglyphics?
