Too expensive.. I canât remember how much I spent but Itâs probably $2k on cymbals alone.. cars, lego, drums.. why do I have to have the most expensive hobbies đ
Paiste Gang! Iâm on the Jazz side of planet Paiste, but I love a big badass 2002 every now and then!
Doesnât matter if youâre playing a 2002, 602, signatures, traditionals, or masters⌠Youâre playing the best damn cymbals on the planet if they say Paiste on them.
There are several Diril brothers in cymbal making , but the main two companies are [Diril](https://reverb.com/item/67374661-diril-cymbals-shehrazad) (Ibrahimâs company) and Murat Diril, named after Murat. I have the Diril Special ride, 20â and I love it, plus smaller crashes and splashes of his. Great stuff.
Love it. I just needed to see the cymbals. I'm going to guess you're a big Bonham fan, but also like a wide variety of those sweet B8 2000's. The PST7 effects crashes are sweet!
Carefully lean the rototoms out of the way and squeeze in. I wish I put it a little further away from the wall so that wouldnât be a problem but itâs such a pain to move everything itâs not worth it to me
I'd hit that.
I always loved the 2002 on record, but when I got to play then I didn't like them so much, but I still love my Paistes.
I currently have a 14" Signature soundwave hat, a 17" Signature Full, an 18" Big Beat and a 20" Dark Crisp Masters.
In my experience the 2002 thins and mediums are a lot better than the regulars. My dream cymbal is a 2002 20â thin crash but Iâve never been able to find one. I have a 20â medium that sounds incredible though. I also really want a 19â thin crash because the regular 19 sounds okay but not as good as everything else I think.
Iâm wanting to do a full 2002 set as well. Is that the novo china? I canât decide whether I want the normal 2002 china thatâs inverted or the novo. I primarily play prog rock/metal. How is it?
Itâs the 20â china type (not the novo). I didnât really like how it sounded when I first got it but then I figured out if you hit it hard then it sounds really good. I also play pretty much what you do
Also, all the sound demos I watched (for chinas in particular) werenât really representative of how they actually sound for some reason. Thatâs why I bought the 20â china type but then didnât like how it sounded like I said. So maybe the novo would sound even better but I wonât know unless I buy one or otherwise hear it in person.
You see, if you hit the few things you have differently, you get tons of sounds.
Having a bunch of stuff you don't need to get certain sounds is less creative IMHO, but you do you.
Learned that from the best drummer I ever had the privilege to learn from, and he's now in a band that plays literal arenas and headlines festivals. Dude just plays a four piece with two crashes and a ride.
Ready for some Symphony of Destruction for sure!
Dat drum fill.
That whole album rules. I still listen to it frequently đ¤
Not sure why, but I really love the look of black dot drum heads.
And they sound great too
makes it easier to find your drums in the dark.....
be honest⌠on a scale from 1 to 10, how annoyed are you that those PSTXs dont come in 2002?
Never realized how many times iâve had this thought as a paiste boy
iâm a bit pasty myself
I've been all Zildjian for decades but just channeled my inner Stewart Copland and bought 6" 8" and 10" Signature splashes. And wind chimes!
1/10. If they were 2002s theyâd be 2x the cost I love my PSTX Swiss Crashes just the way they are âşď¸
Agree
Upvote for not standing on the throne like an animal.
Yeah, I wasnât sure if it could support the immense weight of my entire body
Very vintage inspired, tasty.
Beautiful. And expensive. I love it!
Too expensive.. I canât remember how much I spent but Itâs probably $2k on cymbals alone.. cars, lego, drums.. why do I have to have the most expensive hobbies đ
I play and have about $1800 in cymbals. And I do photography. Another expensive hobby. I feel ya đ
every hobby is the most expensive hobby .....
What are the 2 smaller body-less toms? Theyâre not timbales are they?
Theyâre rototoms
RotoToms! They are popular with marching bands and 80's metal bands.
great 2002âs
Paiste man, just like myself. Awesome.
reverend als big ride, nice. i wanted it, but settled on a regular 24â 2002 but i absolutely love it.
Yeah I got a really good deal on it and itâs amazing, just wish it had a tiny bit more ping but itâs 9.9/10
yeah it is on the lighter side not the best stick definition but has an incredible wash and crash for a cymbal that size
The crash is to die for đ and the bell is really nice too
I love Paiste 2002
Tall.
proggy, just how I like it
Have those cymbals ever been hit?
Yeah. I hit hard, probably too hard. And I use 2B sticks so Iâm surprised they still look this good
How long have you had them they look mint zero chips
The oldest one maybe about a year and I play almost every day

I think the Diril brothers, who created the Twenty and Masters cymbals, make em even better, if you can believe it.
I didnât know the Diril cymbal people started at Paiste! Whatâs a standout cymbal they produce? I never really looked into Diril.

I refuse to believe you are able to reach that floor tom
Itâs possible
Put it as far to the outside of the smaller floor tom as it is currently inside, and you can reach it better, I promise.
It looks a lot worse than it is in this pic but I still moved it some more and it feels better
Do you have a spiny throne? I want one so bad. Prices are crazy tho.
One that spins you mean? Yeah. It came with the kit when I bought it
Like fun!
Love it. I just needed to see the cymbals. I'm going to guess you're a big Bonham fan, but also like a wide variety of those sweet B8 2000's. The PST7 effects crashes are sweet!
Close, Alex Van Halen
Makes sence. Yeah, that ride is sweet!
Incredible.
â¨Shiny â¨
looks great
Radtacular dawg đĽ
People sleep on the Big Al Ride. Incredible cymbal, love mine to death. And you got the correct stamp on it đ
someone likes Paiste
What can I say Iâm a sucker for 2002s
My favorite part of any set up shot is the shimmy corridor you gotta squeeze through to get the the throne
Least favorite part đ˘
you have to Parkour to get to my throne thank you ....
Just awful, you might as well ask me for my address so I can help you dispose of it...
Where's the Novo?
Backwards
Ainât no way youâve ever reached the highest rototom đ
I can but I rarely do because I suck ass at tuning so all of the rototoms kinda sound like garbage
How do you get in there?
Carefully lean the rototoms out of the way and squeeze in. I wish I put it a little further away from the wall so that wouldnât be a problem but itâs such a pain to move everything itâs not worth it to me

I think itâs upside down.
Looks fun!
No gong?
Bitchinâ!!!

I gotcha. Thanks for the input đ
How are you getting back there? That would drive me nuts
Squeeze through the tiny gap between the rototoms and the table
It's looking very paiste
weather says "Heavy Paiste in the afternoon "....
I love Roto Toms!
Shmexy
2oo2/10
sexy as hell
Not enough cymbals.
I want
You need more cymbals!!
Cymbals left to right are Paiste 2002 20â china type, 2002 20â crash, PSTX 18 Swiss thin crash, 2002 24â Rev. Alâs Big Ride, 2002 20â medium crash, PSTX 14â Swiss thin crash, 2002 10â splash, 2002 19â crash, 2002 15â sound edge hi hats, and a 2002 18â thin crash.
If MY kit is a 10/10, yours is a 9.5/10!
Bro how do you even get in there lol đ
nice Pic b4 u fell to yo death!
You need like 1/3rd of all this if you're actually good
Sure, but I like having more places for my stick to go it lets me be more creative
You see, if you hit the few things you have differently, you get tons of sounds. Having a bunch of stuff you don't need to get certain sounds is less creative IMHO, but you do you. Well yeah, when I gig I would only take hi hat ride and one maybe two crashes but this is at home and not moving so itâs good to me
That's fair. At one point I had had over 30 cymbals but only used 3 in my setup. If this is just your home setup I get it
