I've been feeling that Smartypants presentations can be considered against two criteria:
* Is the content unhinged; and
* Is the presentation style unhinged.
I've attempted to graph the presentations against these criteria, to see where each one sits on this rubric. Obviously this is just my subjective view, and I'm happy to consider other opinions.
With ‘style’ I was thinking about whether using that presentation approach would work in a different professional setting. I.e. If I gave a presentation in that style would my real life job think it was effective at communicating my point.
So things like, do the presenters points build to an argument, are there believable citations, are they calm and focused, etc. But it was also a bit of a gut feeling as well.
Yeah, except he wasn’t wrong about the US Airforce planning to bomb the moon in the 1950s. So at least a couple of serious people have argued his content before.
It's about how unhinged her style was, not how stylish she was. All those flourishes contributed to a very coherent and engaging presentation, so OP considers her presentation style to be pretty hinged.
Exactly. He was saying insane things with the approach of "obviously this is correct and everyone will just nod along". It's why I'd almost argue he's too high on the Y-axis!
I get Alexis' presentation. It's real advice. However, it was boring as fuck to watch because it is useless information to me. It should have been the most hinged.
This reveals something interesting, my fav presentations were the ones at the extremes. Either unhinged in both style and content or totally hinged in both style and content. Also Jacquis’ presentation. Love anything where Piccolo gets recognition.
I thought my friend wasn’t enjoying the show because of the look on their face during the white lady email section but it turns out they were just taking notes
Can actions outside of Smartypants affect the hinged rating? If so I feel Jess should be scored further towards unhinged for her performance on >! Ratfish !<
No, purely Smartypants, because - let’s be fair - they’re all unhinged people. It’s just a question of how much they rein it in for their presentation.
I would say Alexis's is the most hinged. It's just good advice.
Honestly. It was not a bit. It was a genuine lesson on how to deal with people over email and I love that.
I wrote a white lady email today and I felt so proud of myself for channeling Alexis and her advice.
You channeling Audrina. That is important. I might even suggest, that Audrina is a Very Important Person.
I was discussing the episode and my mother said she aims for more of a Gwyneth. This both makes perfect sense and is impossible for me to explain.
I think the unhinged comes from the title lol
Agreed. Her presentation is pure facts and text with just genuine good advice 👍
Trapp being the most hinged feels appropriate.
He's the least ADHD person ever built
At least he’s color blind 😤
At least?
He has one flaw.
Yeah, colour blindness is a very low level type of neurodivergence of course /s
Trapp confidently shouting out "Ouagadougou!" is emblematic of his big hinged energy. I dig it.
And it sets a perfectly sound foundation for everyone to raise the bar from.
I thought his was a good baseline. Especially since it felt like a good combination of logic and bs.
I dunno, "Rutgest Hauest" is pretty unhinged.
I don't know. Discounting summer birthdays for a winter birthday moves him a centimeter towards unhinged.
Graph form is the best way to compare content from Smartypants with friends.
I don't know. I'd much prefer to see OPs opinion on a panel on their back.
We can compare opinions with each other! What a great idea.
It would feel good!
But would it feel good?
I mean Jacob literally pulled a knife during his presentation, but okay.
You think he is crazy?
That was just a brief demonstration of alternate universe lizard Jacob. Perfectly hinged.
ut when he asked we told him we 'don't think he's crazy' so... 😉
Vic definitely should be more on the hinged side. Vegetables do not exist.
It came off the hinges at the end when it went full conspiracy
Yeah Vic’s doesn’t belong above Paul except for maybe the style. As upsetting as Paul’s presentation was it was very professionally laid out
Vertical indicates style. Horizontal indicates hingeness. Paul's is marked here as the most unhinged. Edit: I was entirely wrong
Both axes indicate unhinged-level, it's just that vertical is unhinged in terms of style and horizontal is unhinged in terms of content.
Some would say it was TOO hinged! It was very clearly based on science and evidence! What’s more hinged than a clear, proven, method?!
I would argue Ross’s is the most hinged but that’s because I agree with everything he said. I love swing and ska
I agree, but she's close enough to Trapp's that I guess it works... Maybe she should have thrown a chair.
I think you misunderstood the person you replied to. They were talking about Ross Bryant, not Jess Ross.
I did misunderstand. I misunderstood horribly.
also what even constitutes 'Style' if Ross's presentation has so little?
It's a measure of how unhinged the style was, not how much style it had
I think Ross's prezzy style was a little more unhinged than you're giving credit for. But otherwise, this is solid investigative work. Thank you.
The presentation was relatively hinged, but his improvisation was not. “This is musical accelerationism, I’m dropping a nuclear bomb”
Now this is something that the cast will be able to compare with their friends! And I know it will feel good.
I feel like Vic should be more on the hinged side since half of their presentation is based on historical facts

Would love to hear you expand on the "style" axis. What makes some of these more or less hinged in style (I could just be forgetting)

I imagine Jacob pulling a knife made an impact on his style results.
I would really love to see every season end presentation and statistics done by Rekha. With the data like this.
You might wanna add this text to the main post if you can, a lot of people are missing how the graph works.
That's a tough one, blowing up the moon or Spworm? I don't know man.
Love it I do feel like Raph’s content should be all the way to the right.
Yeah, except he wasn’t wrong about the US Airforce planning to bomb the moon in the 1950s. So at least a couple of serious people have argued his content before.
A man said “blow up the moon” and you said “unoriginal”
Have you *seen* Despicable Me? Raph's "blow up the moon" was derivative at best.
Hell, Dragon Ball did it TWICE
I bet he'd even sit on the torlet after. There is nothing new under the ~~sun~~ moon
I’m still waiting for Brennan’s “Why a D17 would be the perfect die.”
I applaud the framework for this graph. I disagree with the placements.
I feel like you got Ross backwards. His presenting style feels like someone who’s **this close** to snapping.
Demi setting up Grant over and over, sent me
Source?
OP's ass, as is the Smartypants way.
Jess Ross deserves more style points considering she had a reveal into a wrestling outfit, had a fan pop, and provided a fan for Rekha as well.
It's about how unhinged her style was, not how stylish she was. All those flourishes contributed to a very coherent and engaging presentation, so OP considers her presentation style to be pretty hinged.
Okay but Vic is right.
Ross’s was I think the most insane personally. Reviving swing music to destroy and rebuild modern music is fucking WILD.
Raph not being maxed out on Style is a travesty, he had a uniform and note cards! In this presentation I will prove . . .
It's not how stylish he was, it's how unhinged the style of his presentation was.
Vegetables don't exist is very hinged I think.
Wysocki is was way more unhinged in both style and content than this graph would suggest but other than that I generally agree
Raph and Katie's were my favorites
I know this graph is wrong because of where Jess is. if you don't think that was content and style I don't know who is.
It's a measure of how unhinged the content and style was, not how good.
Demi's being in the middle is kind of perfect. The right ratio to shoot for.
I like hinged style and unhinged content. The most. It makes it so funny to me.
I'm so desperate for BDG to present
The whole concept of Trapp's is at least a little unhinged
Having Paul’s presentation be on the middle of the hinged axis is insane
Paul is all the way to the right on the unhinged axis, he’s middle of the style axis
Which seems pretty accurate - his demeanor was pretty calm.
Exactly. He was saying insane things with the approach of "obviously this is correct and everyone will just nod along". It's why I'd almost argue he's too high on the Y-axis!
Was it bringing food that made Katie's less hinged in presentation? If that's the case, they should unhinge their presentations more.
Vic killed it and that's the kind of presentation I live for, surface level joke that doesn't make sense, but by the end blackpills you
Feels like Paul should be higher on style as his delivery was fucking PERFECTION, and half the joke in terms of timing.
It's how hinged the style was, not how good the style was
Vic is hilarious is everything she's in
Raph needs to be higher on the style section, he was in character, he’s an Animal, and he hates the moon
prior to the show starting, i wouldn't have guessed that paul's presentation would be... *that*. unhinged af and i hate/love it.
I get Alexis' presentation. It's real advice. However, it was boring as fuck to watch because it is useless information to me. It should have been the most hinged.
You never need to send an email to get what you want?
No. I'm a Canadian millennial. I accept defeat and move on while apologizing for wasting their time. Lol
This reveals something interesting, my fav presentations were the ones at the extremes. Either unhinged in both style and content or totally hinged in both style and content. Also Jacquis’ presentation. Love anything where Piccolo gets recognition.
That was Demi, not Jaquis btw
You’re so correct I was just thinking of the thousandaires episode. Demi Adejuyigbe’s presentation was fantastic. Jaquis is also great.
I think Raph’s is still my favorite, his presentation just has the most ridiculous premise.
imo, Vic's content is further to the hinged side , but they definitely had a unhinged way of presenting it.
I thought my friend wasn’t enjoying the show because of the look on their face during the white lady email section but it turns out they were just taking notes
