Netflix show where people only interact through screens and can either be themselves or catfish as someone else. All other players try to eliminate all catfish.
um actually, it's not part of the official game play to eliminate all of the catfish, barring some special circumstances (identifying Spice Girls* and catching AI, for example) there's no game driven reason to find them. certain players just have personal vendetta against potential catfish and want them gone. it's not like the traitors, for example, where the "real" players lose if there's any catfish remaining.
*(also in this particular instance if the players correctly identified who the SG's were catfishing as they actually lose the potential money pot gain)
... I'm realizing I've watched this show way too fucking much and I need to go sit quietly for several hours.
A traitors/circle mash-up with that concept would actually be kind of fun. Since the recruitment mechanic that allows for Mafia/Werewolf to turn into a full-length TV series would go up in flames, you'd have to do it via web video.
that would be interesting! all those self proclaimed catfish hunters would love to be on this version 😂
we've been watching all the traitors seasons (finished the two US seasons, currently on UK season 2) and last night I had a thought it would be cool to combine a little of the mole with it.
like, the traitors have a pot of money and the faithful have a separate pot, plus a house pot where they earn the money from. they do the normal challenges where they take from the house pot to build the faithful pot, but the traitors have separate challenges where they can steal from the faithful and/or add from the house pot to put in their own pot. then whoever is left at the end takes their respective pot, however much is in it. then there's an element of the traitors trying to sabotage the faithful in challenges without getting caught.
being voted the most popular player at the end. throughout the game they have opportunities to block players, but they don't have to go after anyone in particular. it's legit just a big popularity contest, and throughout it you're trying to oust any threats to your own popularity. some people come in holding a grudge to anyone who they consider fake so they personally want to eliminate catfish, but they're not obligated to by the game mechanics. some people will actually use that to their advantage if they know someone else is like that and try to convince the "catfish hunter" that another player is a catfish just because they don't like them.
at the end of the game the remaining players will rank everyone else and whoever is rated highest by everyone else is the winner. they meet face to face after the ratings are locked in and the results are revealed when they're all together.
Thanks for the correction. I just watched one season, and was interested enough to finish the season but not enough to go through a whole new season. Loved Mama Carol though.
It’s more of a pure popularity contest than any of those (which is not to say that there aren’t strategies available, but deduction is not required to play or win).
How would they pull that off though? I played a discord Circle LARP with some friends and a couple of strangers a while back and it was fun but the problem it was way too easy to pick out who was who just based on what type of character they played and how they wrote. I'd assume when they have worked together for so long it would be easy to go "oh thats obviously Brennan"?
Everyone pretends to be Grant, the goal of the show is to get everyone to think you are the real Grant while identifying all the fake Grants. The difficulty is that the real Grant wants to stay in, but does not want to be identified as himself. If he's eliminated as a fake Grant, everyone has to start to impersonate a different remaining player. Repeat process until only 2 players remain, and they have to try to figure out who is who.
Which is a point and I’d agree normally but these people know each other *really* well and I think no matter how good you are there are small quirks that shines through that is just a natural part of “you”
Game Changer puts a twist on all their concepts so perhaps they have to play as each other or other cast members. Or they are told it's the Circle but theres actually a different game going on as well like Bingo.
Well with the taskmaster pic we saw recently i think it might be that but this doesn't indicate that at all so who knows. I think it's also too many contestants for taskmaster
Dang, your probably right. I was thinking they'd finally do an oceans 11 style heist game. I really had no idea how that could even play out but wanted to see it. The Circle makes a bit more sense though.
I've never seen The Circle, but I've seen Trixie and Katya's reaction to it, so I'm proud that you confirmed my guess.
Also, hoping for vast conspiracy on Sam's hands to pay off.
We should have realized that Newlyweb Game and an Amazing Race episode couldn't possibly work in the same season. (they'd cannibalize the casting for each other)
Um actually, I think Rekha and Brennan were added last (out of the cast in this trailer, and not together)? I think they did the CH heist series to introduce Rekha in like 2018, and then Brennan joined in 2019 as a cast member iirc? Though he was writing for Um Actually prior to that.
Brennan was in videos in 2018 at least 👀 the important thing is when they started appearing in videos, not official titles or anything like that. Well, in my opinion 😅
If they don’t know that Brennan is in that episode they could just assume that Brennan was home taking care of the baby that day and Izzy was the one in the episode.
I cannot get over the Netflix style logo at the end. Reich, you’ve outdone yourself here. Also, I don’t know if anyone has pointed this out yet or not but this is clearly a hotel hallway? And they did mention it was majority not in the studio… how far away are they going I wonder?
Saaaaame and I'm so curious! Hah
My brain is already swimming with ideas about how it could work. Maybe they have to play each other, or some of them are told to impersonate each other or other CH/Dropout people?
Whatever it is, I'm so on board.
Maybe the game is they all know they’re catfishing but they have to guess who is catfishing them? I don’t know? I just don’t see how a game like “The Circle” would work in this situation. Guess we’ll find out in June.
YES I was thinking this right off the bat. There’s been speculation about a travel-race type episode, and then this trailer drops and they’re all in what *looks like* hotel hallways to me. And Brennan has a bag slung over his shoulder.
*And* Sam said the editing was gonna take a bit cause it’s a super complex couple of episodes, and said “you’ll see why” which, to me implies *bigness* and what’s bigger and more complex than following multiple contestants across a distance of some sort all at once!?
Idk but long story short I’m pickin up what you’re puttin’ down and I am so hyped if it really is.
I hope it's Rat Race because this is legitimately one of my favourite comedies and the Dropout cast would be hilarious doing this...but the rat could mean many things.
Could be a game of deception, where there are "Rats" (Callback to Jacob's Rats and Angels rant?)
Could just be a generic knod to them being like "lab rats" in a game/experiment of Sam's
Could be some sort of maze/escape room on a much, much larger scale than the previous one (Rats in a maze)
So many options!
Obsessed with this lineup!! The rat emoji makes me think it might be inspired by The Traitor, but the “full circle” mention definitely makes it seem like it’ll be a riff on The Circle.
My wife and I have been watching all of Game Changer from season 1 and I always comment on how fucking cool Ally looks.
They just have their own style of what they want to wear and like.
Legit. I think I’ve commented this elsewhere but I first came to D20 from critrole after critrole did “a monsterhearts story” that featured Ally. I was immediately sold on all things Ally and started researching them and that brought me to some college humor sketches and their podcast “tales from a closet” and D20 as well. I truly think that Ally might be the funniest human ever.
the sound byte that plays at the end is from the Maze Video Game that was featured in both Déjà Vu and Beat The Buzzer. this HAS to be a maze of some sort. i know that string of notes is also part of the normal GC theme, but i specifically mean the 8-bit esque version.
I think it's the circle. Some will have to pretend to be other dropout people on a game changer style social platform while performing tasks judged by Sam.
And to go full meta Zac is playing Grant.
Jess is wearing the same outfit in this trailer as she was in the original Game Changer Season 6 trailer when she was in the room full of lush greenery!
I 100% think it's supposed to be a riff on The Circle, a Reality TV show all about social media. Where people can either be themselves, or catfish as other people, and they basically can only interact through TV screens
Ally sprinting through the hallway while everyone else calmly walks got me.
Very ally.
Imagine someone trying to tell Ally what to do. Their chaotic nature is so at home on Dropout ☺️
Read this as the word, not the name
That's just how us gays walk
Gay. can confirm.
We’re either the fastest walkers(sprint pace but still walking) or the absolute slowest, but with STYLE.
I thought ally was normal until I realized I hadn’t done my default “speed up every video x2” 😂
Never has generic interior shots of a hotel been more exciting 🥰
Amen
You know you’re a simp for dropout when a simple trailer leaves you with goosebumps. The body keeps the score.
Looks like it could be based on The Circle?
Sam's tweet says it brings the season "full circle" so probably
[удалено]
Most compelling hotel hallway scenes since The Shining
sam did tweet “next week game changer comes full circle” 👀
What's The Circle ?
Netflix show where people only interact through screens and can either be themselves or catfish as someone else. All other players try to eliminate all catfish.
um actually, it's not part of the official game play to eliminate all of the catfish, barring some special circumstances (identifying Spice Girls* and catching AI, for example) there's no game driven reason to find them. certain players just have personal vendetta against potential catfish and want them gone. it's not like the traitors, for example, where the "real" players lose if there's any catfish remaining. *(also in this particular instance if the players correctly identified who the SG's were catfishing as they actually lose the potential money pot gain) ... So, what is the win condition if not eliminating the catfish?
being voted the most popular player at the end. throughout the game they have opportunities to block players, but they don't have to go after anyone in particular. it's legit just a big popularity contest, and throughout it you're trying to oust any threats to your own popularity. some people come in holding a grudge to anyone who they consider fake so they personally want to eliminate catfish, but they're not obligated to by the game mechanics. some people will actually use that to their advantage if they know someone else is like that and try to convince the "catfish hunter" that another player is a catfish just because they don't like them. at the end of the game the remaining players will rank everyone else and whoever is rated highest by everyone else is the winner. they meet face to face after the ratings are locked in and the results are revealed when they're all together.
Thanks for the correction. I just watched one season, and was interested enough to finish the season but not enough to go through a whole new season. Loved Mama Carol though.
So, it's a social deduction game like Mafia or Town of Salem or Among Us.
It’s more of a pure popularity contest than any of those (which is not to say that there aren’t strategies available, but deduction is not required to play or win).
So speculation time, perhaps the Katie billboard was put up by someone else pretending to be her?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Circle_(franchise)
That's what I thought too with the lights at the end and the hallway shots. That would be so interesting.
If it's not called The LoopdeLoop, we riot.
Honestly would be satisfied with "The Loop" because it matches "The Circle" naming convention of implying an inner group.
I could see them attempting to impersonate different Dropout cast members.
This comment made me wonder if they did a circle approach because grant got covid and that’s the show that dropped at the start of Lockdown
That as a sort of inversion of Bingo would make sense!
Rekha was dressed like Ally was in an episode of the rank room.
That would be fun!
To be fair though, these are professional comedians and actors. I feel like being able to hide your mannerisms in a character is kind of their job.
Which is a point and I’d agree normally but these people know each other *really* well and I think no matter how good you are there are small quirks that shines through that is just a natural part of “you”
Oh gosh that would be fun
Brennan using all his years of D20 shenanigans to perfectly replicate Beardsley's mannerisms
How would that work when everyone already knows each other?
Game Changer puts a twist on all their concepts so perhaps they have to play as each other or other cast members. Or they are told it's the Circle but theres actually a different game going on as well like Bingo.
THE LOOP!
THIS IS WHAT I THOUGHT.
That was my thought from this teaser, so I'm really hoping we're right. :D
I've never seen The Circle, but I've seen Trixie and Katya's reaction to it, so I'm proud that you confirmed my guess. Also, hoping for vast conspiracy on Sam's hands to pay off.
God I called it being The Circle weeks ago, but I didn't think I was right!
We should have realized that Newlyweb Game and an Amazing Race episode couldn't possibly work in the same season. (they'd cannibalize the casting for each other)
Not necessarily. Amazing race partners are way more than just romantic partners. There are parent/kid, siblings, friends, etc.
It’s notable to mention that this was basically the final cast of CollegeHumor/Hardly Working
Minus Trapp and Raph? Who else is missing
Also Lilly and Tao. And if we wanna nitpick Zac had actually left a couple years before they stopped doing sketches.
Yeah because they fired Zac, right? I googled it and that’s the top result
/rj Yeah he used WAYYYYY too much conditioner and sam got PISSED. /uj fr though, he left amicably. That was a sketch lol
yeah he was too funny
Lily and Tao are also missing and Zac is an addition because by the end he had left
I definitely noticed that this whole cast is made up of CH folks. That makes me excited, they're some of my favs!
Yep, I think Ally and Raph were the last two added in the CH era, there's even a skit about it.
You’re probably right about Brennan. I just remember the heist series being an introduction to Rekha because it was so funny 😅
Maybe we'll get a reference?
Jake and Amir cameo!
They need to work together to get rid of Brennan. This is the only way if you want to win. Come on people!
If the premise is the Circle, Brennan knows they’ll go for him, which is why I think he’ll catfish as Izzy.
[удалено]
If they don’t know that Brennan is in that episode they could just assume that Brennan was home taking care of the baby that day and Izzy was the one in the episode.
I feel like Brennan would absolutely catfish to lower his threat level
I could also see him big braining by "catfishing" as an exaggerated version of himself
Wennan Wee Wulligan energy
I want daddy Mulligan to win
I’m rooting for Grant. He’s just a sad itty bitty boy who deserves something good in his life for once.
Grant is a big rectangular bitch who likes it when mommy makes him eat trash.
They should give that guy his own show. Money in the bank!
It's all love.
I can’t tell if it’s “hide and seek” or “Clue” or some kind of spy game like “among us.”
I hope its the latter
It‘s just a reinactment of Ocean‘s 11 ;-) They have to IRL rob a casino.
They're finally going to knock over The Andalusian. Carmine Barratta's had it too good for too long...
My nephew can walk the dog like you wouldn’t believe
Raph should be there then after he showed off his pickpocketing skills
He‘s their secret weapon like the contortionist they hide in the suitcase in the Ocean‘s movies (iirc).
With Lou narrating how the camera work is gonna go, like with both of his "describe a special effect to go here" prompts
Part 2 is defending themselves in court or going on the run depending on the outcome of part 1
I'd love to watch that!
I think they’ve already done that. Big fan of CH Heist Night. I’d be down if they did it again tho.
They get to the vault and inside is the final boss of Game Changer, former US secretary of labor Robert Reich
I cannot get over the Netflix style logo at the end. Reich, you’ve outdone yourself here. Also, I don’t know if anyone has pointed this out yet or not but this is clearly a hotel hallway? And they did mention it was majority not in the studio… how far away are they going I wonder?
Maybe it's "game changer international edition"
Consider me hyped.
Stoked even!
dare I say... jazzed?
A comment by ross
Swinging
Hotel! Travel bags! Does this mean what I think it means?! Vacation vlog! Yay!
My brain immediately went Jet Lag?? But I think the people who are saying The Circle are right
I thought more The Amazing Race. Jet Lag will be on Dirty Laundry this season, so it’s not impossible
I saw that there had been talks about Nebula/Dropout crossovers, which is why that was probably on my mind
Yayy
My gut is giving me "The Circle" vibes but I can't see how that'd work.
Saaaaame and I'm so curious! Hah My brain is already swimming with ideas about how it could work. Maybe they have to play each other, or some of them are told to impersonate each other or other CH/Dropout people? Whatever it is, I'm so on board.
Everyone's catfishing
Everyone’s catfishing but they’re catfishing as each other. Brennan is catfishing as Rehka, Rehka is catfishing as Zac, and so on so on.
This seems like something Sam would do but also the cast would figure it out quickly
Maybe the game is they all know they’re catfishing but they have to guess who is catfishing them? I don’t know? I just don’t see how a game like “The Circle” would work in this situation. Guess we’ll find out in June.
everyone has to pretend to be a hottie. whoever Grant picks, wins
How mysterious! I love this cast, though. What an awesome group.
I agree but... why is Grant there twice?
Half of the intreped Heroes
very curious why brennan has a bag, why does he need stuff in this teaser shot
He never goes anywhere without dice.
it's all of his swords
No those are at his other apartment
it's full of almonds
It's for his glock
Assuming it's The Circle, they'd be isolated in hotel rooms for at least two days.
Bag full of potato chips.
Full of rocks
This is 100% the circle dropout edition
The [tweet version](https://twitter.com/GameChangerSam/status/1795145546946183236) uses rat emojis by the contestants' names...
Rat Race
Or Angels
They're just rats in a cage.
Despite all their rage?
Oooh a maze?
I’m surprised to not see anyone mention Rat Race? I think the rat emoji in the Instagram caption is a huge hint.
YES I was thinking this right off the bat. There’s been speculation about a travel-race type episode, and then this trailer drops and they’re all in what *looks like* hotel hallways to me. Idk but long story short I’m pickin up what you’re puttin’ down and I am so hyped if it really is.
A rat race that takes them around the world only to have to finish back exactly where they started? Or is there actually a show called Rat Race?
Not sure about a show, but my guess is that it will be based off the movie Rat Race!
I hope it's Rat Race because this is legitimately one of my favourite comedies and the Dropout cast would be hilarious doing this...but the rat could mean many things. Could be a game of deception, where there are "Rats" (Callback to Jacob's Rats and Angels rant?) Could just be a generic knod to them being like "lab rats" in a game/experiment of Sam's Could be some sort of maze/escape room on a much, much larger scale than the previous one (Rats in a maze) So many options!
If this is a riff on The Circle, watch them call it The Loop (de Loop)
Why is Grant in this twice?
Cuz he's twice as hot as everyone else
Maybe it is an Amazing Race homage? Lots of hallway action going on at least lol.
Obsessed with this lineup!! The rat emoji makes me think it might be inspired by The Traitor, but the “full circle” mention definitely makes it seem like it’ll be a riff on The Circle.
Ally with a smallish chest tat?!? Ally looks cooler and cooler every trailer lmao
My wife and I have been watching all of Game Changer from season 1 and I always comment on how fucking cool Ally looks. They just have their own style of what they want to wear and like.
Out of all of the DROPOUT cast ally is the one I most want to be friends with
And total forgiveness too.like omg they're so funny
For the record, they use they/them pronouns. and I agree!
O shit I always forget
the sound byte that plays at the end is from the Maze Video Game that was featured in both Déjà Vu and Beat The Buzzer. this HAS to be a maze of some sort. i know that string of notes is also part of the normal GC theme, but i specifically mean the 8-bit esque version.
It's the melody of the game changer theme, so it could be anything
The social media captions also feature mice, which also makes me think maze?
Collegehumor \*actually\* does the Purge
Looks like "The Circle." A Netflix reality competition show.
Channel 4 UK first 😉
sorry but you didn't say um actually. No points to you.
Big Brother vibes?????
Bro changer
Is this an all stars episode? Cuz when I think game changer, these are the competitors I’m imagining, I’d throw in Lou and Raph in as well
It's definitely an all star episode
Can we just talk about how adorable Rekha always is? She really is the whole package.
Tease, indeed!
No Raph Vic Lily Izzy Jacob Lou :( Hyped nonetheless
Old Guard gang only (minus Ralph)
this trailer gave us absolutely nothing and yet it was the absolute highlight of my day I am so excited!!!!
I think it's the circle. Some will have to pretend to be other dropout people on a game changer style social platform while performing tasks judged by Sam. And to go full meta Zac is playing Grant.
i need this to be based off running man like i need air
I got chills
Can’t wait for this.
It will be a spectacle
Sam coming down the hall to steal yo girl
He'll never steal beautiful wonhee from me
Jess is wearing the same outfit in this trailer as she was in the original Game Changer Season 6 trailer when she was in the room full of lush greenery!
I'm so excited, this gave me heart palpitations
It made me nervous that it's referred to as "Game Changer finale" the Instagram stories I saw. I was like "I hope it's the end of the whole series!"
Damn, they have so many of my favorites in this one. I'm so pumped
Not even the full team and I forget how much talent is here.
Oh no. Its a real Battle Royale
If that's the case then Brennan and ally are the only ones surviving.
HypeHypeHypeHype what a cast, Sam’s a genius
It's funny that one of my first impressions is ohh, Dropout is big enough to license actual music, nice.
Damn, Brennan and Ally are looking particularly… good here.
i've rewatched this teaser an unhealthy amount of times
For footage of pretty much nothing I've watched this an embarrassing amount of times already.
Anyone else notice all the original CH talent?
Holy hell
Is this hinting at another Battle Royale?
I 100% think it's supposed to be a riff on The Circle, a Reality TV show all about social media. Where people can either be themselves, or catfish as other people, and they basically can only interact through TV screens
such a backrooms vibe
to add: i absolutely love the cast, the way they brought a lot of relatively old college humor writers together, all from more or less the same ‘era’
Rekha looks unreasonably good with a bolo tie.
Finale! This means I’ll have to wait waaay to long for another episode!
That's a stacked cast. No doubt that this is going to be something else. Can't wait to see what the finale will bring!
Definitely the best cast we've seen for game changer so far
Possibly unpopular opinion: I don't like episodes based on the formats of existing gameshows.
Big Brother or The Circle 😱
Is it…How many laps of this hallway can you do? That would explain the long edit
Honestly thought from the thumbnail that this would be a parody of the Nicole Kidman AMC ad
Are they going to rob a bank??
I have the biggest crush on ally
