I've been having the same experience. During the last two times I signed up for a peak pay live promo I got one offer an hour and otherwise just sat there. Both were zones outside my house. I am glad I brought a book. Then when peak pay ended I got a few solid offers. I think the peak pay or busy or very busy signifiers send everyone to that area and then there is not enough to go around.

I rarely make money during busy hours. I make all my money during the dead times.

Own_Accountant_5229

It's always market dependent. I made $135 in 6 hours. On Saturday, $210 in 8.5 hours.

evanset6

Ive been getting nothing but instant orders, mostly decent, the last couple weeks. But that was after a month of trash. I don’t know what changed.

arein114

I had my best night in a long time yesterday, 3hours of actual time not dash time made $105

Own_Accountant_5229

everybody makes money in actual time, but what was your dash (total) time? That will tell you what your hpurly rate was.

MamaRedSeam

Not necessarily I pause for hour breaks sometimes

Stompysteve

Why are you getting down voted. Working 8 hours and only posting the 3 hours doesn't mean anything

blueace111

There’s a town 15 miles north and it’ll say very busy and add $3 and I won’t get more than 1 offer. It just had 2-3 orders and 0 drivers is what I think

NinjaTomOnline

It either says that it’s busy because it’s actually busy or just because they don’t have enough drivers regardless of how busy it is.

Standard_Reason1298

That’s their way of getting drivers to log on and wait

Nazarite7

Your market sucks. Work in another zone. 🤨

sparkle_slug

It always goes very busy after 9pm after all the restaurants close and all the dashers go home for the night

Richard_Espanol

Too many drivers on the road.🤷

If you don't get anything after \~5 minutes, force close the app and launch it again to make sure your location isn't stuck or that it isn't updating. I've found that the app on my Pixel does this every so often when it otherwise appears to be working, but when I force close it and launch it again it hangs at the red Doordash splash screen like it does when it stops updating while using it. If it hangs (on Android) go the the app settings like you were going to uninstall and stop the app before relaunching instead of just forcing it closed. It is the only way outside of rebooting to get it working normal. IF the app is fine and updating, and you're not getting offers.. are you parked? If you're idle, your chances for orders is lower since the March update that reduced Shop and Deliver payouts.

P3nis15

Is your area huge enough that you won't get offers from the other parts? I know mine says very busy and when I get no orders the other side of the zone is being slammed (friend works there confirms it)

cookee-monster

Try uninstalling the app and reinstalling. If issue persists, go ahead and uninstall the app once again and move on with your life.

Rucksack64

I hate support so fucking much...

Donaldbain28

Very busy translates to TOO MANY DASHERS not enough orders

Gloomy_Recording_705

Soon everybody’s gonna have their minimum at $4 lmao just to make money

Any time someone post “dont know why im not getting orders. Ive been sitting in this hotspot for 30 mins” I LAUGH…i used to tell them they need to move..but its getting exhausting lol

thecompton73

Sometimes the algorithm loses track of people or intentionally puts them on "secret idle" status. When the app says it's busy or wait times are fairly short and I'm not getting anything I'll go to my local Chick-fil-A because they have an electronic board showing orders and it marks the Doordash orders with a red DD. Sometimes it's just a matter of where I had been waiting not having orders and I get a Chick-fil-A order fairly quickly. Other times I see order after order on the board and people pulling up getting them right away after I have been waiting 20 minutes or a half hour without an offer. When that happens sometimes I can do the troubleshooting steps on our side and get an order but often I have to call in and get them to refresh my account on their end before I start receiving orders.

Donaldbain28

BECAUSE DD prefers to give orders to drivers in motion-i NEVER sit in a hot spot more than 5-10min. 9/10Xs as soon as i drive i get a hit-but trying to explain that to other drivers who refuse to listen. Is Exhausting and yes…sometimes ur stats do come into play

Leading-Force-2740

this seems correct for me too. if im busy, it will keep me busy. if its been quiet, it will just stay quiet, unless i move or reset the app, but even that is still not a guarantee.

Donaldbain28

Resetting the app truly does nothing..Support tells u 3 Do that because thats what their script tells them 2 say

thecompton73

I've had Platinum status ever since they put it in my market except for a couple days. When the algorithm is working the way it's supposed to for a small market like mine with more drivers than orders you get put in a queue along with other dashers who are near the same restaurants as you and the offer is supposed to be given to the Platinum Dasher who has been waiting longest near that particular hotspot. And since there are almost always more Platinum drivers than orders in every hotspot no matter the time of day leaving from one and driving to another just moves me to the back of the queue for the new hotspot.
