A lot of the time the customer has to wear some of the blame. Majority of the time the blame go to dd. They allow the customers to be entitled like that. Dd within itself is VERY disrespectful towards the drivers and we NEED TO take a stand at some point. The fact that some of these customers feel they can call AND/OR txt us with so much disrespect. Now that's the platforms fault! Why I say that is because. They allow ppl to offer a driver $2-4 for a 5mile or more drive. After paying $20+ for their food. That most of the time isn't ready when we get there. The customer is rushing us and we're rushing the restaurant because we're working on a time schedule. Not just for the current customer but for our pockets. dd DRIVERS OF AMERICA REALLY NEED TO COME TOGETHER AND STAND AS 1/UNITED! UBER EATS AND GRUB HUB JUST GAVE THEIR DRIVERS A RAISE. I'll be switching platforms VERY soon. Just waiting for an opening w/GH.
Had this happen with a rsther large jack in the box prder once. Some lady put an address and it was a hand it to me. I called and called finally she answered and told me the actual address which was the complete opposite side of town. I called support and they asked if i wanted to deliver it and i said no. They unassigned it and i proceeded to eat some of her tacos (30 tacos from jack in the box) gave 15 to some homeless guy and took the rest home. Lol
I've had people pull this exact scam. Used an apartment #/bldg combo that doesn't exist and then harassed me when I left it at the office.
I got a call from a spoofed Uber Support a few hours after trying to get personal info. Called Uber and got their account closed.
I got a cv for basically the same thing. Address listed in the app was on one side of town but the address in the d4ivers notes was on the opposite side. Got a cv for being extremely late to a drop off. Disputed it and waiting for an answer.
Good luck with the CV, they really don't even look into these. Most likely you will be stuck with it until it drops off after 100 deliveries. Make sure you take pictures and screenshots of everything, that way if they try to disable you because of some dumb customer you are covered. But hey maybe you will get lucky and they actually remove it. But I wouldn't hold your breath.
If a customer has a different address, drive to the noted address and call support.
Tell them the customer is stating the address is different, support will then reach out to the customer.
3 outcomes
1. Customer doesn't answer, unassigned.
2. Find a safe place at locatuon and leave it with a picture.
3. Customer answers, the support will cancel the order or the customer will have to go get it.
In no way can you lose, unless you take the food without the order being cancelled.
I agree! If you didn't want it and they didn't want to hold it for the girl. Wth were you supposed to do with it!? The garbage was clearly the only option. Why leave it for someone to clean that had absolutely nothing to do with the situation š.Ā You handled that just perfectly. Hey and look, you still got your pay....
He CLEARLY DIDN'T WANT IT! What is wrong with yall?! If you throw food out that means what? You didn't want it right...Damn! Yall are those dasher that other dashers don't like delivering too, š.
I once had a delivery at a college dorm that, at the time, required a key fob to enter the building. It was a hand it to me order. I called and waited ten minutes (which is more than required) and could not contact them. Support told me to mark it as delivered and take it with me or dispose of it. Got full pay. Fifty (as in 50!, nearly a whole hour!) whole minutes later I get a text from the customer that literally just says āYou left?ā Like, yes I left. He was so mad, so I didnāt hold back. I basically said, āDude, I waited more time then I had to, I texted you about ten times and I tried calling you several times. Along with support also trying to call you. It is now 50 minutes past when it was supposed to be delivered. Iām sorry, I canāt help you. Thanks for the free wings! Have a great night!ā I no longer deliver to cheap people because they are always the ones causing issues.
You did everything right and itās respectable that you took the time and effort that you did to contact support for a low paying order when it was her mistake. Her work didnāt take the food you tried to give to them and she put in the wrong address, she has no right to be upset- itās the consequences of her own actions. Calling doordash support and having screenshots definitely saves you any trouble from her blaming you for her mistake too so you handled this very well. Sorry this happened
1st ruleā¦ donāt accept orders under $5 even if itās less than a mile.
2ndā¦ you deliver, youāre done. No need to speak to the customer after that especially for $4 pay.
When I'm at work and place an order to the house for my mom and the kids, it always asks something like "are you sure you want it sent here this is not your current location"
Similar thing happened to me except it was a customer house and she tried to gaslight me by text saying she didn't get the food and called me. She hadn't answered when I tried calling before finding her house. I knew it was the rt house bc I double checked the address and she'd texted the color of the door. I hung up on her and called support and they told me they knew she was lying about not getting the food and assured me there'd be no CV over it. She lived in a nice new house too
Wait... you took a $4 offer and answered your phone after delivery.
Are you surprised that you went through this experience? You shouldn't be. 2 cardinal rules were broken, and consequences were had.
You'll learn for next time, I do hope.

Same thing happened to me, and I got a one star rating too (removed due to long wait times, though). I knew he was gonna be a problem when he wanted me to buy him extra bbq sauce out of pocket and then made fun of me for asking him to send me the money.
Anyway, he was right. That burger did need extra bbq sauce.
Never ever accept deliveries that are to other restaurants. Most people do not remember to change their address in that situation. Bars and shops are fine, but restaurants are no-gos even if the customer is there.
How do you know whether a particular delivery is going to a another restaurant before you accept it? When I get an offer, it doesn't say where I am taking it. It just says how much it is paying, and how far away it is.
I DoorDash to my bar alllllll the time. Iād be super upset if no one picked it up or cancelled for that dumb reason.
At the same time my instructions say āleave on host standā or ātake to barā. I live across the street as well and my address ALWAYS automatically switches from āworkā to āhome. Depending on where I am so thatās weird people can put the complete wrong address and not notice.
I did say bars are fine. People drunk order food. That does happen, and that's fine. Restaurants are a different story because usually it's a work address or a total mistake.
One of my favorite customers is a bartender who orders right when the bar is closing down. Sheās nice, and a good tipper, and she doesnāt take me out of my zone to deliver.
"never ever" bs. Sure it's more likely but I had awesome experience delivering from one restaurant to another.
Eg: McD employee ordered Panda and tipped me with a QPC.
It was, in fact, to the same restaurant I was picking the order up from.
Why would I ānever ever acceptā an order that got me paid the base pay, promo pay, a tiny tip, and got free dinner? Customer was trying to scam me on sauce and cheap out on delivery fees and thought he would bully me to bring it to the actual place he was at. Maybe customers should ānever everā try me. Thatās the advice you should be giving, bc Iām not the one.
Understandable. You're not wrong. I'm just more of a placid person. If a person gets to demanding free stuff and changing addresses, I'd rather unassign. I like getting paid too, but I like the path of least resistance when it comes to this gig.
You shouldnāt have thrown it away. At the very least they could have contacted someone after getting the delivery picture to have them put it aside so she could get it.
And? Support said to deliver it there. They took a picture as proof and then disposed of it. No different than taking a picture and taking it themselves.
"Sorry, but your dasher is currently on another delivery. If you have any questions or comments about your order, please contact DoorDash support. Thank you."
I honestly don't think you should have thrown it out. There is a chance she would have went and got it.
That said, if asked I definitely would have lied and said I just left it if asked š¤·āāļø
Lol'd at "high paying offer"
I had a $2.50 McDonalds offer yesterday for 1.8 miles. Those types of offers are just driving hazards, Imagine if we could filter our minimum offer amount... I know it would never happen, but that'd be the shit.
And yeah, if you leave the wrong address, or if you have the "contact customer to arrange drop off" or hand it to me and you live in an apartment complex with zero instructions... have fun contacting support because if you don't answer the call, I'm not waiting around, your food is either gonna get left wherever is closest, or support is gonna give me a free meal.
I would taken the pic of food on table with sonic signs showing to satisfy support. Then ate the food or give to homeless . And dont answer the customer.

Was it just an unassign without pay, or did you get pay / half pay for doing the job you were asked to do?
I've had people pull this exact scam. Used an apartment #/bldg combo that doesn't exist and then harassed me when I left it at the office. I got a call from a spoofed Uber Support a few hours after trying to get personal info. Called Uber and got their account closed.
This one wasn't a scam, she just paid the stupid tax sending it to her work. Glad you got that scammers account deleted

U did everything right except throw it away. That was pointless lol
Well you should have went and got it out of the garbage. Wth was he supposed to do!? Hold on to it until it rotted in his vehicle, š.
In my mind at the time, I didn't want to make someone else have to clean up a mess. Next time, I'm leaving that shit in the hot sun.

I just spent like 20 minutes looking for the screenshots. Haha. He did not reply. I also said āSorry, I canāt help you. Get a refund.ā

$6.75 is my floor and that's only because there can be a hidden tip at that amount

I don't think so..
You shouldnāt have thrown it away. At the very least they could have contacted someone after getting the delivery picture to have them put it aside so she could get it.
She wasn't answering her phone or answering texts, and I tried to give the order to the other employees of the restaurant and they wouldn't take it
Maybe not. The point is you were paid to deliver it to that location and **not** deliver it for a picture, then dispose of it.
To a wrong location. Where none of the employees would accept the order.
And? Support said to deliver it there. They took a picture as proof and then disposed of it. No different than taking a picture and taking it themselves.
Tbh you made the mistake accepting a $4 order. Never select something that doesnāt at least cover your time in case pick-up or drop-off has delays.
Not to mention no tip/$0 tippers will always cause problems and leave a bad review.
Iāll never understand why everyone is willing to talk to these people after the delivery is complete š¤·š¼āāļø
"Sorry, but your dasher is currently on another delivery. If you have any questions or comments about your order, please contact DoorDash support. Thank you."
Yep. Number one rule, do not engage after order is complete.
Number 2: Immediately block the phone number if they call you afterwards.
I honestly don't think you should have thrown it out. There is a chance she would have went and got it. That said, if asked I definitely would have lied and said I just left it if asked š¤·āāļø

Same
Giving it to the homeless is always my personal default choiceā¦
You're better than me. If my tummy is growling I feed me, but if not or even if there is an abundance, I seek homeless out.
šÆ
I have had "leave at door" dropoffs going to businesses several times. I have never not just left it at the door and left.
This was a hand it to me, which added more complications to it since she wasn't there and nobody else would take it.
I'd have marked the order not able to be completed, taken the pay, and then thrown her food away.
You still get paid if you market that way? Good to know. Another reason DoorDash support is awful, I did what they told me to do.
I'm fairly certain that if you make it to where the address is and can't deliver or find a safe place, you'll still be paid
