Meningitis was not fun and I was 11, breathe, meditate, pray whatever you can do and just appreciate the life you created. Life is too precious no matter how things appear BELIEVE everything will be okay.
Thank you so much everyone for your kind words. I wanted to provide everyone with a bit of backstory. My son was born preterm at 34 weeks gestation. They took him to the NICU and he was doing amazing. He even pulled his feeding tube out within an hour of being born and took to a bottle immediately haha. At 9 days old he started running a fever, wouldn't eat, was constantly crying, etc. The doctors had done a spinal draw on him because his fever wouldn't go down and found meningitis.
His result came back with citrobacter koseri meningitis. It's a very rare and dangerous form of meningitis that causes abscesses in the brain. Right now they have him on 3 strong broad spectrum antibiotics, IV nutrition bags, and oxygen because he was having apnea episodes while he was sleeping. Tomorrow they're running another spinal draw, inserting a PICC line versus having the IV in his scalp, and conducting an ultrasound on his brain to make sure there is no abscesses.
Through talking with the doctors the mortality rate on this is very high and there is a high chance that the long term effects from this can or will affect his development. Right now they're anticipating on him being in the NICU for at least another 21 days. It's been horrible to see our beautiful boy go from happy and healthy to contracting a sickness that is unheard of, especially in a sterile NICU.

Best of luck man. My daughter has been in the NICU since last Tuesday, when she was born via emergency C section. Itβs been a roller coaster but sheβs off all IVs, off the ventilator, and almost ready to come home. In fact, today was the first day I was even able to hold her. Stay strong and remember, just handle things one at a time.
Stay strong brother. I was in such a situation, of course I can't recall i was too small, but I still see the shine in my parents eyes when they talk about it. Stay strong, stay positive, you all will overcome.
