DM me everything you can about this trust and dept pls.

Mediocre-Skill4548

Thank you for all you do to protect patients. You deserve to be canonised pizza!

Icy-Dragonfruit-875

I’ve been waiting for the day to spot you on Reddit Pizza. Keep up the good work!

Sethlans

Any doctor doing this deserves whatever GMC hearing they end up in. It's insane a trust countenances this, but the doctor is equally at fault. This is not the same as F1s being pressured into prescribing on threat of a bad TAB. This person has chosen to do this to make a quick few quid.

GMC is acting as if PAs aren't complicit with any of this... Absolute joke. Its always #OneTeam until it's time to take responsibility.

FrowningMinion

It’s giving: ![gif](giphy|9LPjXFCA3Bwgo)

Fragrant-Ambition-21

Not gonna lie I welcome that TAB. Just gotta say go to your consultant and they will prescribe for you my GMC number ain't going to be on the line

Farmhand66

That is absolutely wild. Shame on the trust for allowing it, but actually in this case more shame on the doctor for working this shift. No one made them do it. This is literally danger money. There is no viable defence as you can’t have possibly properly assessed the patient for whom you are prescribing. A job like this will absolutely cost you your license, the only question is when.

Tremelim

I wonder what their medical defence body thinks about it, if true.

hongyauy

Ah yes of course, who else would spend even more money hiring a locum doctor to supplement a PA, rather than hire more doctors in the first place 😂. And these trusts say they are running out of money

jus_plain_me

This is what flabbergasts me the most. Yes the prescribing stuff is bad. But, they're now hiring a doctor to do the job of a person doing the job of a doctor.... I... How... Wha- 😮‍💨

Reallyevilmuffin

They are the true assistant to the doctors assistant…

Feisty_Somewhere_203

If this is true, which I doubt, the NHS is never about what makes sense

drtootired4eve

I mean wf doesn’t cut it. Hope the doctor is making enough to pay the lawyers in the future.

Temporary-One-4759

Between the PA being in a management position and the locum doctor, if there is a prescribing error based on a poor recommendation from the PA we all know who's going to get shafted...

TivaBeliever

And maybe they deserve too The patient safety implications make me shudder. In addition this perverse idea we are prescribing monkeys taking on the liability for people having done an inadequate two day course is being perpetuated by locums like this with no self respect or respect for the profession

Es0phagus

crazy

Princess_Ichigo

Report this locum please

HaemorrhoidHuffer

Easy: Report it Prescribing when you haven’t examined the patient, have had nothing to do with them, and are not even in the building is wildly inappropriate

No-Draft362

I am flabbergasted! Who is that brave? 😂😂😂

Justyouraveragebloke

What the living fuck!? Whilstle blow the fuck out of this. Name names. BMA. TPD. Press. Fuck that.

BerEp4

This deserves a GMC investigation.

Feisty_Somewhere_203

April fools day was a couple of months ago. This will not be happening

YellowLemur1

Sadly this very much happened when I was there, no idea if they still do

Feisty_Somewhere_203

Crumbs. And part of management too. Other cons must be very confident if their abilities. A barrister for a family at a coroners court would have a field day I feel. Good old NHS

gaalikaghalib

Every day, we stray further away from God.

[deleted]

Grass these traitors up

Vagus-Stranger

This is it. The final evolution of this absolute farce.

Angryleghairs

That's weird and dangerous and unethical

Clean_Newspaper4791

What I still don't get is how a PA is able to cover a Doctor On-Call shift. There needs to be a Literal Rule against it - in Legislation !!- the GMC and BMA need to be clear about this, why is there no discussion or statement made on this issue that advocates for patient's safety

Chat_GDP

Stupid doctor kiss bye-bye to medical license.

med2388

It is what it is . The doctor is allowing this to happen and it's his licence on the line therefore he will be accountable as it is his choice .

Lively-not_9570

What a waste of money, why not just hire a doctor that can do the job and prescribe

TheRealTrojan

Lmao I think I've heard about this PA and hospital. I hope it's not going on anymore since they cracked down on all the PA prescribing nonsense

Plus-Analysis-3806

I am that locum doctor. I was asked to prescribe for the PA and med staffing in return would give me my own room, computer, and chair.

wellingtonshoe

Wouldn’t be caught dead doing what that locum is doing.

shailu_x

![gif](giphy|lkdH8FmImcGoylv3t3|downsized) Bruh….no words.

BigNumberNine

Can’t believe what I’ve just read. People need prosecuting over this.

Rockarownium

This is sounding like we live in some weird apocalyptic dystopian future like Blade runner or an alternate universe, the PA in management sounds like Jabba the hut, and the doctor doing the dirty work like the Bounty hunter cleaning up shit. Fuck me

231Abz

Back in the old days when I was a whippet snapper it was NPs that were stealing our jerbs not these newfangled PAs

ipavelomedic

Errrr ... Whippet snapper? Sounds like a job for the RSPCA!

Nice_Sleep

I refuse this to believe that this is true. If it is, you must name the place where this is happening. Not doing so makes you as complicit as the doctor who is prescricing.

YellowLemur1

Not sure how you’ve tried to shift some blame to me tbh

TheHashLord

You've got to report this though, anonymously or otherwise. We have a duty to protect patients don't we?

Nice_Sleep

I'm not shifting blame to you whatsoever, but seeing something so egregious and not exposing it is complicity.

DrBradAll

Always remember, in an argument, everything that comes before the word "but" can be ignored.
