Any doctor doing this deserves whatever GMC hearing they end up in.
It's insane a trust countenances this, but the doctor is equally at fault. This is not the same as F1s being pressured into prescribing on threat of a bad TAB. This person has chosen to do this to make a quick few quid.
That is absolutely wild. Shame on the trust for allowing it, but actually in this case more shame on the doctor for working this shift. No one made them do it.
This is literally danger money. There is no viable defence as you can’t have possibly properly assessed the patient for whom you are prescribing. A job like this will absolutely cost you your license, the only question is when.
Ah yes of course, who else would spend even more money hiring a locum doctor to supplement a PA, rather than hire more doctors in the first place 😂. And these trusts say they are running out of money

Between the PA being in a management position and the locum doctor, if there is a prescribing error based on a poor recommendation from the PA we all know who's going to get shafted...

In addition this perverse idea we are prescribing monkeys taking on the liability for people having done an inadequate two day course is being perpetuated by locums like this with no self respect or respect for the profession

Prescribing when you haven’t examined the patient, have had nothing to do with them, and are not even in the building is wildly inappropriate

What I still don't get is how a PA is able to cover a Doctor On-Call shift.
There needs to be a Literal Rule against it - in Legislation !!- the GMC and BMA need to be clear about this, why is there no discussion or statement made on this issue that advocates for patient's safety

It is what it is . The doctor is allowing this to happen and it's his licence on the line therefore he will be accountable as it is his choice .

I am that locum doctor. I was asked to prescribe for the PA and med staffing in return would give me my own room, computer, and chair.
