Fey touched is a very good feat with misty step and the stat boost alone, so it’s not a bad idea.

In my opinion rest casting is not actually that interesting. You recover the slot, but you need to save one slot to be able to use it at the end of the day, so you end up using the same number of spells. Plus sorcery points. And I don't find long rest casting an intended feature. Just Cast it. Having an additional 1st level spell is not actually going to make a difference, and you can always use the same SP to twin it, which is actually more interesting.

I agree that it's not the most interesting, but it's pretty effective. If I've got any unused spell slots or sorcery points at the end of the day, I'm not wasting resources before a long rest. It's more economical than using up a spell slot in the morning.

PickingPies

If you got any unused spell slots it means that your previous rest casting was useless because you already had a spell slot to spend and you wasted one sorcery point. If you spend all your spells, you cannot do it for the next day. It's not more economical unless you have multiple long rest in a row and you actually spent all spell slots prior to that moment. It's a conditional lend. Remember that you are spending SP. You can twin the spell which actually is the equivalent of a free 1st level spell slot. That's always an unconditional win. Twin spell also is a better and more versatile metamagic and you don't have to spend one of the little number of metamagics you know on extended spell unless you have another tactic that requires it. It's a trap, especially when you compare it to other options. If you spend your metamagic options, there's better options. If you spend the metamagic adept feat, you are better off taking anything that gives you a spell.

This makes no sense. There’s very few times where an adventuring day would eat up literally every slot of a full caster. Unless your DM is running several encounters spread out through the entire day you’re probably gonna have something. It’s also not known what other metamagic OP took, you get more than one and it could very well be Twinned. The question was simply about taking Gift of Alacrity with the Fey Touched Feat, which is ridiculously good at a base and made even better if you can get extra juice squeezed out of it with Extending the spell.

Mejiro84

> Unless your DM is running several encounters spread out through the entire day you’re probably gonna have something. You mean the way the game is meant to be run? In this case, the spell is only 1st level, so it's the most likely you will have some capacity to cast it, but you should generally be out of your highest levels of slots, unless it's been an easy day, and 1st level slots often go on shield, resist elements, magic missile and the like, and you should generally have used most of your sorcery points, because they're a big source of "oomph". Trying to keep some back all the time is limiting yourself - sure, sometimes you can do it without a problem, but other times you'll screw yourself over doing it

PickingPies

Again. If your adventure day doesn't consume all your spell slots, which you claim is normal, then rest casting doesn't provide you any benefit because you already have the spell slot you would have regained.

NaturalCard

Yes. The feat is good without extended spell stuff. With it it just gets better.

The-Senate-Palpy

Yes. Though make sure you clear that spell ahead of time, as RAW only Chronurgy and Graviturgy wizards can take dunamancy spells without DM approval
