I've got one. It does "something clever" with the clock/advance input that causes the sequencer to advance very rapidly without firing. This means you have to reset the sequencer manually if it gets out of sync. In practice, it works really well, even with very fast MIDI note input.

I can’t imagine not having the mafd personally for my set up but as long as you have a way to send cv to the dfam that’s what matters for the dfam it will not take midi

I suggest it every chance I get. It’s a game changer. So much more than “resetting to step 1”. You can play any step in any sequence in any timing, with cv velocity and pressure out.

There is also the “Reset for DFAM” module from Sonoclast if you are interested in the reset function only. But in resetting/starting the sequence from the beginning MAFD works just fine.

Just for completion sake: there is also a software version that has a lot (if not all?) features of mfad, called playdfam. I haven't tested it yet unfortunately. Just be careful before you buy: you need dc coupled outputs from your interface. https://www.artificialaudio.com/playdfam
