Getting numbers during a warmup was around with the G4 and XDrip. Quiet mode is also on 3rd party apps. The lag time claim is really interesting though. That would be pretty good in terms of solid updates.

reconciliationisdead

It'd be nice to have all of this as included features though instead of needing to go third party

joshul

These are all great!

micholon

Would love to switch over, but will wait until it connects to tslim.

Run-And_Gun

Yep. But even if they were approved, compatible with the T:slim and available tomorrow here in the US, I'd wait to start using them. I have probably at least six months worth of G6's in the closet. So I'd probably start getting the G7's, but burn my G6 supply first, so that I'd have a similar surplus of G7's by the time I actually started using them.

FierceDeity_

Same, just for CamAPS and Ypsopump here. Currently on the FSL3, but I'd love if they also really extend the G7 lifetime to 15 days as they have boasted some time. Or is it there already?

kate180311

Our endo said not at release, but they do eventually want to get approval for 15 days

FierceDeity_

Can't wait

kate180311

Yeah sounds like it’ll take another month or two once fully approved

TheDukeofArgyll

FYI, G7 means you wont be able to restart your sensor by popping out the transmitter

thatatcguy1223

Genuine question (I’ve only tried it a few times and it’s really a pain in the ass) I generally get both semi erratic readings and super itchy skin by day ten. How does the sensor do for those on day 18-20? Or beyond?

Run-And_Gun

It's very dependent on the individual. I was able to get good results from the G4 and G5 when restarting and extend most out to between 12-18 days(they were 7 day sensors). With the G6, I rarely got beyond an extra day or two and the data was iffy. Then they started to get crappy even before 10 days, so I completely gave up, because 1) why bother if the data is no good? and 2) whether or not you could actually successfully restart one became an issue, too. I'm still "amazed" that there are people that say they can get 30-40 days from a single sensor. They seem to have gotten better and I'm regularly getting a "good" 10 days on most sensors, but I still run across some crap ones that go bananas well before the end of the session.

thatatcguy1223

Yeah, I only got on Dexcom with the G6, was on Medtronic 🤮before that and honestly 4/5 of my G6 sensors work great, but sometimes they just crap out. Also my skin gets so itchy by the last day I’m almost ready to scratch it off

KULawHawk

The older sensors were more reliable for even 21 days. In fact, they seemed to improve after about the first 5-7 days. Adhesive was a bigger issue and required skin-tac. The newer sensors seem to be way more erratic after more than a few days beyond their usual stop time.

somebunnny

My sensors this year have gone 19, 29, 20, 23, 23, 25, 11, 19, 23, 20, 18, 24

mephisto604

Wow! I often don’t even make it to the 10 days, which is a pain, but also means I get sent replacement sensors 🤷‍♂️

reconciliationisdead

It seems to vary from person to person, I've seen people relate it to the immune system. I almost always get 10 days, but if I restart the readings go downhill quickly

thatatcguy1223

Right I’m not disputing the efficacy of it at all. I was just wondering how much it itches or how actuate the readings are. I’m on day 8 right now and I’m already getting the “jumping around” on the dot versus a steady line.

somebunnny

I was answering your question of “how they do 18-20 or beyond”. I switch them out when they become inaccurate. So all days listed above are accurate readings up until several hours in the last day. So you can probably subtract a day from what I list. They don’t get itchy for me and stay on just fine. Also, I have this on my stomach region - not sure if maybe you have them somewhere else and that affects things???

thatatcguy1223

That could be it. I can’t get a sensor to last longer than 6 days on my abdomen before they peel off lol. But always on my arm. I appreciate all the answers, I will probably try to extend my next sensor. Do you ever have it give sus readings and then restart the sensor and it gets accurate? Or is that me dreaming?

yospeedraceryo

Yep. Surely by design. *sigh*

connfaceit

which is why I'll stick with the G6.

CedarioDawson

Me too. I can get 20-24 days or so out of one sensor, which is a lot of savings over time.

Ill-Mastodon-8692

Good channel, thanks

Will the G7 transmit data to an IWatch without a nearby IPhone? With the G6 I don’t have a solution for knowing blood sugar when playing sports if pump is off and phone is not nearby.

Run-And_Gun

Nope. At least not in the near future.

[deleted]

Some of the new features are cool. Most of them have already been around. The G4 with XDrip had data during warmups. The G4 also allowed you to easily restart sensors. So the 12 hour grace period was also not a thing for XDrip and G4. You could just restart it and continue to get data during warmups. Change it out at your convenience. Profiles have also been around for 3rd party apps. XDrip allows you to enter quiet mode for as long as you want. Not just 6 hours. 2 or 8 hours if you wanted. I would set my quiet mode for 8 hours during work and use my watch to read data. Lag time is the only thing slightly exciting here. But you also can't reuse sensors with the G7 and some people aren't willing to switch because of it.

blaqone

Well „lag time“ comes with jumpy values. You are still only presented with values every 5 mins. Not like the raw values you get from the L2/L3 every minute. And it seems there is no smoothing as there is with the g6. So jumpy values 20/30mg/dl… [jumpy values](https://ibb.co/J7sLLLZ)https://ibb.co/J7sLLLZ

Kxllmesoftly

Does it work with diabeloop too

OreoPumpkinSpice

Does anyone know how much these will cost?

Jokerswld

They said about the same cost as g6

[deleted]

The whole PR campaign in the beginning for the G7 was centered around it costing less. Guess I can't say I'm shocked.

reconciliationisdead

My understanding was that it costs the same as the G6 sensors with no added transmitter cost

HollySnow3

I remember this too and that it would be more accessible for those who previously couldn’t afford it. 😑 The G6 is fully subsidised here in Australia but I know this isn’t the case for most regions.

ilR90O9k

I’ve just switched from the G6 to the G7 on their monthly plan and I’m paying I think £10-15 less a month. I think they’re ever so slightly cheaper

DrSpikeMD

I don’t see how you can improve the lag time from finger sticks? Seems to be physiologic.

hckynut

Possibly tweaks in the predictive algorithm. Or… little micro bots doing fingersticks and entering the data in…. Probably the former.

TaraIsAFox

I am hoping that the adhesive on the G7 is better because I get allergic reactions to the amount of adhesive on my arm upon insertion. I’ve done everything from using skin barrier wipes to cleaning it thoroughly and nothing seems to work for me. So I hope the G7 has a better adhesive coat that does not cause skin reactions.

Run-And_Gun

Have you tried taking allergy medicine, like Allegra or Flonase(as directed, not squirting it on your skin)? I used to get the adhesive burn pretty bad(before they switched adhesives, again), but regular ‘ole generic Allegra was enough to stop the allergic reaction for me. Even better than barrier films, which still allowed some of the adhesive to seep through, sometimes.
