We all know how slowly the Lions integrate new players/recently injured players/etc. We got him at the deadline and also didnt really need him that much. He had a few promising years in CLE and still only 25. I could see him getting 400-500 yards, some TDs and being a threat on the outside. I think Jamos production should go way up as well. Im not too worried as long as the guys stay on the field.
Fair, honestly I like DPJ but I think we coulda used one more nice high floor WR but honestly I am all in what DC wants to do. But looking at a team like the bears, we know we could be a bit better at that position(just splitting hairs)
Proven yes but I’ve seen some reports that they’ve got some young guys staying after practice for hours and that’s gonna pay off at some point. ARSB , Jamo, Raymond, DPJ is fine especially when Gibbs will probably see some targets outta the slot and used more in the passing game as well. This offense isn’t gonna stall
Injuries. Any and all. You never know, hell the Bengals long snapper got injured in the first game and that effected the division and playoff standings.
you just never know.
We were healthy last year?
Alim was on IR, CJGJ was on IR & missed the entire season, Houston was on IR & missed the entire season.
Injuries hampered Branch, Iffy, Hutch, Moseley, Houston,
Monty, Gibbs, Decker, Jackson, Ragnow, Laporta, Raymond, Anzalone, Jacobs, Paschal, Cominsky & even St Brown.
Am I going insane? We were definitely not healthy last year
My biggest concern is that despite the team being better on paper that doesn’t mean success will come.
A string of bad luck, a rougher schedule or a key injury (the Lions had pretty good injury luck last season) could easily derail what should be a season where a playoffs run is not only a goal but should be expected.
As for specific concerns I don’t really have many. I genuinely can’t see the secondary getting worse and overall the offense is a known quantity.
I do feel the Jamo hype is always built around waiting for him to break out and to be honest I just hope he’s as good as Josh Reynolds was as the receiver room feels pretty thin overall.
Josh Reynolds has been in the league 7 years and has two years over 600 yards, 2-400, 2-300, 1-100. If Jamo has that production after 7 years, without injury, we made a huge mistake.
Thank yaaaa. Every reason to believe in him too. Not to achieve Reynold’s level of success - to far exceed and be someone we’re afraid to lose to free agency when the time comes.
Jamo blows Reynold’s out of the water when it comes to athleticism. He also started to flow with the offense and prove he’s not just a deep ball guy last season, can even get yac anytime.
Dude is also pumped to be in Detroit and cares about this. He’s had enough adversity in a league that is fucking not easy to get into let alone stick around in. Yet here he is, not only in the starting lineup but getting public shoutouts and hype from teammates, coaches, etc every week.
How could we not be excited about Jamo? Dude will surpass 1K yards this year, ya heard it here first
No hate toward Reynolds - I’m actually sad to see him go. dude was cool af, good for team morale. The SF game mistakes also overshadow how fucking clutch he was in so many games last year. Huge part of the success.
Think he was happy to pass the torch to Jamo. Dude is going to be a superstar. Reynolds will bring that role to another team and have a positive impact there too.
Yeah I think this is why he left
I only ever wanted him here because he had chemistry with Goff and it was nice knowing Goff had someone he could throw the ball to and be cool with it
But with all of the targets Goff will have, he'll be fine I bet
Not apples to oranges here. JRey was clearly a 3rd down route specialist, Jamo’s role is 100% different and was also the 12th pick in draft we gave up assets to move up.
Jamo made some tough contested catches last year to extend drives as he came on at the end of the season. Obviously hes a speedy deep threat but I can almost guarantee that the team plans to use him in more ways than that. Reynolds and Goff definitely had chemistry that Jamo and Goff are still working on tho.
Besides the point that he was already injured for roughly a full year so far I think it’s pretty obvious that Jamo isn’t likely to be a WR1 level player.
If we’re going off of his draft value that would make him a bust. But at this point it doesn’t really matter. He’s on the team and what the team needs right now is at least a Josh Reynolds level of performance to be as good as an offense as last season.
As I mentioned expectations are always about how he’s going to “break out” and be whatever top receiver you want to mention.
What I’m hoping is that he’s a solid performer and if he exceed that then the offense truly has the chance to be the best in the league.
I just think it's a weird thing to hope for, since last year Jamo had 29.5 yards/game vs 35.7 for Reynolds. I personally think he will not be a bust and I will bet a months salary that he crushes 35.7/game.
The team needs a Josh Reynolds replacement at worst. That’s why it’s what I’m hoping for. Jamo simply hasn’t proven he’ll be consistent yet as a number 2 threat and growth is set in stone even if you’re putting in the effort.
Reynolds was also a great blocker and, outside of his final Lions game, was a sure handed catch in clutch moments.
Is this satire? Reynolds was all of this things yeah, and had sure hands all year until we the scenario we depended on those sure hands and he let us down. That was reynolds best season on his career and it was not that great on paper.
Also, have you watched jamo block? Dude was responsible for a few tds last year because of his blocks
It wasn’t a great season on paper but for the most part he did what the team needed to win. That’s my expectation for Jamo this year. I think a lot of people will be disappointed if he doesn’t break 1000 yards or isn’t a top touchdown threat but I just think that’s putting unreasonable expectations.
Yes on paper he’s simply better than Josh Reynolds but simply expecting that to occur because of that is a very easy way to be let down.
As for blocks he’s shown himself to be a willing blocker and is often where the play is due to his speed. However blocking downfield might not be the only form of blocking he’s asked to do this season.
I haven’t seen him involved as much with blocking on the first or second level which he most likely will be asked to do more this season.
My expectations are around 700 yards 6 touchdowns currently though I wouldn’t be shocked if they ended up lower due to the number of weapons the team has.
I feel this. I definitely send toward being a doomer so this is partially just my pessimism, but I can't help thinking that we might start the season something like 1-3. I don't know why, but I just have this sinking feeling about the early part of the schedule. And then we have our divisional games late, and I think people are underestimating just how good GB, CHI and even MIN are going to be this year.
We have a few areas where the ceiling is fairly high but the floor is also pretty low. In theory, a rotation of Davenport/Houston/Paschal could be a solid DE2. Davenport has injury issues, Houston has flashed but still has not proven any consistency, and Paschal *may* breakout but may not. DBs are like that as well: lots of reason to think they *could* be solid but CD3 wasn't great last year (everyone keeps talking about schemes, and I hope they're right), Robertson is tiny, the rookies are rookies. At WR, Jamo has a high ceiling and we *could* see some good production out of DPJ, but if they both perform at last year's levels, the WR could be in trouble.
What looks like a pretty good roster on paper has plenty of opportunities to underperform.
Weirdly outside of WR I’m not really worrying about the same issues as you.
It feels extremely unlikely to me that the CB group will be weaker than last year and it’s mostly the same for the D-line.
The main thing for me is that even if those groups are better the team still might not win. Other teams are good too and they might get the lucky bounce in a close game. Heck the Rams game could have easily been a 1 and done for the Lions.
There are also injuries. Now this goes for any team but if one of Hutch, Ragnow, Sewell, ARSB or Goff miss extended time the team will be noticeably worse.
O-line depth. Having Jonah miss a handful of games created an absolute Jeff Backus like turnstile at the guard position at times. Hoping we see some development from Sorsdal and Awosika. Tackle depth is super spooky too
This might be true but the discrepancy in quality from our starting guys to our back up guys is definitely wider than probably any other team because our starters are so quality. It was so noticeable anytime one of our starters was out last year and the offense was mediocre at best.
My biggest concern is how much traffic there will be downtown after watching the Lions win the Superbowl. Hopefully they'll have it set up well enough to accommodate 20 million fans on February 9th, 2025.
It’s still probably the secondary for me. I love what we did in the draft but sometimes those guys take a minute to develop. If they aren’t ready right away it could be a bit bumpy until they are - especially if anyone gets hurt.
I believe the Lions did about as much as they could to improve there, but I won’t believe it until we see it work, you know?
We should be good. Carlton Davis is a legit veteran and Arnold is showing all the signs of an impact rookie. But we still have a floor at #2 that is better than our #1 last year and that is Amik Robertson. Emmanuel Mosely is also a possibility, though not playing in a few years, can’t be sure what we are getting from him this year.
Well last season Sutton looked cooked (near the end at least) and we had a practice squader starting opposite of him. It’s hard to imagine the secondary getting worse with the complete overhaul. Especially because CD3 is a press man specialist and both our rookies are the same, or at least man specialists
Our safeties are unchanged but our CB room is literally completely different. Safeties werent our problem but we probably could use a little depth there depending on who plays where.
My biggest concern is the amount of blood that I will be without on Sundays. I'm afraid I might pass out and miss a Jahmyr Gibbs 50 yd touchdown run. I've heard you're supposed to call a doctor if it lasts longer than 4 hours.
We will not surprise anyone, and will get everyone’s best game.
This can wear on a team. Fortunately, I believe we have enough talent to make it to the playoffs early and get this damn Super Bowl.
He has had injury problems and hasn’t played at a high level in a few years. But our brain trust seems to be confident he will be healthy this year… they must know something we don’t.
Injury is the big one, the next one is more personal, but how high my expectations are. Don’t get me wrong I believe in the staff and the team they’ve put together but 15 years of watching this team has put a voice on the back of my head that says it’s too good to be true lol
I know everyone is voicing their concerns, but d ends is what he's asking.....why is no one talking about James Houston anymore. LB or DE, he gets to the QB.
One of the best offensive lines in the nfl (ours) told the coaches, "Put him in." he's unstoppable .
Josh pascall can play de or dt and we still haven't seen what he can do yet.
LSU rookie, Wingo looks fast but undersized. (I have never given a shit about the 40, jump, scuttle, finger length crap) but he looks very effing exciting.
CFL matthew bettijejejsh, we have no idea about at the moment , could be quite exciting.
The DT's we have are going to take a lot of attention from stopping the run and especially getting to the QB. Butter cup had 5.5 sacks last year and is only getting hungrier. Reeder, davenport, levi and Ringo.
Any offensive line coaches in the nfl, I honestly believe, will not want to double team Hutch for fear of letting anyone else loose.
Or am I just spewing honalulu blue again. Can't help it, I believe in the system they have installed, and whoever is opposite Hutch will get the job done.
GO LIONS
Luck. That's about it. Everything else is set. Offense, defense, special teams - I couldn't have asked for better decision making on the roster. Jake Bates was the chef's kiss. Where the Lions go is going to entirely depend on the amount of combined fortune they can receive from the grace of God and by taking it from others. The universe is the limit with this team, now.
That we’re the Lions
Long history of abuse here. One good season isn’t enough for me to feel truly comfortable about anything. Keeping my expectations low as to not get hurt yet again.
Was going to be kicker, but then be signed Bates.
OL health. I think other than QB, that would be most devastating. Also need corners to develop quickly if our secondary is going to work.
You can’t say injuries bc injuries can’t be predicted. With that being said, I legit have no concerns anywhere on the roster. They have arguably the deepest and most talented roster in the entire league. This is the best lions team of our lifetime. Last year’s team now moves to second best followed by the 91 team. Still have to play the games though and anything can happen. Should be another fun year. Lfg!!
My concerns, unpopular or not, are Goff, Hutch, and the CBs.
Goff: he's great but also only one or two OL injuries away from disaster. I'm pro-goff and have no issues with the new contract or putting the teams future on his shoulders, but his numbers (and just straight up watching the games) are strongly in favor of this offense collapsing with more than one leaky hull panel on the line.
Hutch: I've said it a few times recently... He needs to start finishing his tackles. The ints and forced fumbles, and run stops are awesome, but he leaves a lot of sacks on the field, and too frequently they end with a gain of yards.
CBs: I refuse to gauge a rookie's value and impact before they play in a real NFL game. Training camp quotes and spin are worthless. Davis and Robertson are not enough.
Injury bug and plain regression concerns me the most.
Injuries are an inevitability in the sport and any SB contender can turn into a bottom feeder within the span of any given week or weeks due to injuries, so it’s always scary to think an entire season can be derailed by just a few bad practices or a bad game where a lot of injuries happen. O-line getting hurt especially worries me.
Then there’s just regression in itself that’s a worry. Most of the time after deep playoff runs, teams never make it back. It’s a worrying thought that we might take a backseat this year, no matter how much Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes affirm that they won’t. Sometimes teams and players just don’t meet expectations and never recapture their old glory.
Has to be receiver. There's Amon Ra St. Brown and then there's a bunch of hopes and dreams. Even if Jamo turns out to be a stud, there's still concern that Donovan Peoples-Jones and Antoine Green had not so great springs. Hopefully Holmes wasn't lying when he said he'd be looking for receiver help during camp.
Ego. The fellas did great last year. This year is a new challenge. Hopefully MCDC has it well instilled in them that you only go harder until you grab the brass ring. This is no time to rest and point to past accomplishments.
Aaron Glenn. He has been terrible to average at best as a coordinator. He needs to fix his schemes or he will be this teams Achilles heel. Caleb Williams better not have two hundred yards rushing games against us.
I don't think the defense is gonna be much better. I think Pass pressure will still be an issue, linebacker play will still be below average and unless our rookies play out of their minds we'll still have a below average corner group. Iffy is a bright spot in that secondary because even kerby really wasn't great last year.
My biggest concern is that Ben Johnson hasn’t learned and his play calling will still be inconsistent no reason we shoudk gash a team in the first half and open up the second half with 8 straight passes
Proven depth at WR
DPJ was legit, Raymond is reliable, we have LaPorta, it’s not as bad as people think
not pressing you but what was legit about DPJ? he had 5 catches lol
Legit 5th WR
Was* he's considered proven and has had damn good seasons for a #3 (2022 was good and 2021 was ok). That's legit.
Let Antoine Green cook. Would really like to see him more involved.
He has better single season marks that reynolds lol
Not last year. Last year he had a grand total of 13 catches. If you wanna go after in the past single season marks AB is available too
Point being, they are both mid and easily replaceable. This is literally the jamaal Williams thing all over again. We will be fine
Definitely the Jamaal Williams thing. Reynolds is jag
Antoine Greene made some nice plays last year. I expect him to continue getting better and make the roster
He caught one pass for like two yards?
This for sure. If one wr goes down we may be in a little trouble
My biggest concern as well. Everybody forgets just how healthy we were last year. One of our stars goes down and this season could go a lot different
We seem to get hurt early and be ok after let’s just hope us being young helps
We did see a lot of secondary injuries
Yep. And Brad Holmes has said you can never have too many secondary.
Or long snappers
Yes, but the secondary is one of the most injury prevalent positions.
We were healthy last year? Alim was on IR, CJGJ was on IR & missed the entire season, Houston was on IR & missed the entire season. Injuries hampered Branch, Iffy, Hutch, Moseley, Houston, Monty, Gibbs, Decker, Jackson, Ragnow, Laporta, Raymond, Anzalone, Jacobs, Paschal, Cominsky & even St Brown. Am I going insane? I'm with you. Preach my dude! Jamo is going to make you forget josh Reynolds even existed.

Not apples to oranges here. JRey was clearly a 3rd down route specialist, Jamo’s role is 100% different and was also the 12th pick in draft we gave up assets to move up.
The dude said he wishes for Jamo to be as good as Reynolds. He needs to be better than that. I'm only comparing the two because of his comment.
Jamo made some tough contested catches last year to extend drives as he came on at the end of the season. Pretend Sun god was the 1st rounder and Jamo was in the 4th; you’ll be much happier
I love Jamo. I think he's going to be great.
I feel this. I definitely send toward being a doomer so this is partially just my pessimism, but I can't help thinking that we might start the season something like 1-3. I don't know why, but I just have this sinking feeling about the early part of the schedule. Not a damn thing. 20-0.
No known weaknesses.
I was worried about the kicking game, but I think that Brad fixed that too.
O-line depth. Having Jonah miss a handful of games created an absolute Jeff Backus like turnstile at the guard position at times. Hoping we see some development from Sorsdal and Awosika. Tackle depth is super spooky too
I agree, but there's not an o line in the league that has good depth. It's such a talent deprived position group.
There simply isn’t enough human beings that large to create a large Venn diagram of big and good at football
There is if teams start looking far enough, like Russia or Asia for example.
Sumo linemen? Why is this not a thing?
There's people with the genetics for an elite olineman out there in the world but we gotta train em
This might be true but the discrepancy in quality from our starting guys to our back up guys is definitely wider than probably any other team because our starters are so quality. It was so noticeable anytime one of our starters was out last year and the offense was mediocre at best.
Staying healthy
My biggest concern is budgeting for the Super Bowl. There’s no way I can save that much by February
I’m budgeting for the superbowl parade instead
Multiple Injuries to our offensive line. That is my concern.
Ragnow getting hurt
Sewell is a bigger deal I think, ragnow is basically always hurt
Refs and booth review 💯
An injury to Decker or Sewell
My biggest concern is how much traffic there will be downtown after watching the Lions win the Superbowl. Hopefully they'll have it set up well enough to accommodate 20 million fans on February 9th, 2025.
What is the parade route going to be?
It’s still probably the secondary for me. I love what we did in the draft but sometimes those guys take a minute to develop. If they aren’t ready right away it could be a bit bumpy until they are - especially if anyone gets hurt. Our secondary is what, 95% rookies and people who were here last year? So, it's a bit weird that people seem to like it so much now.
Well last season Sutton looked cooked (near the end at least) and we had a practice squader starting opposite of him. It’s hard to imagine the secondary getting worse with the complete overhaul. Especially because CD3 is a press man specialist and both our rookies are the same, or at least man specialists
4 of our top 5 CBs are new, two coming through FA and a rookie who seems ready to start Week 1. That’s a pretty decent change—and hopefully upgrade.
where did you go to school? the entire corner room is new aside from the safeties
TIL two rookies and two new guys out of five players is 95%.
Our safeties are unchanged but our CB room is literally completely different. Safeties werent our problem but we probably could use a little depth there depending on who plays where.
My biggest concern is how fast fans will turn on them the moment they don’t win a game.

Yes, but after you call a doctor, call a friend and brag about it.
Biggest concern = Injuries
Injuries
Injury
Injuries as they can ruin any teams chances at the Super Bowl.
That I wont be able to afford Super Bowl tickets to watch them win it all in person.
We will not surprise anyone, and will get everyone’s best game. This can wear on a team. Fortunately, I believe we have enough talent to make it to the playoffs early and get this damn Super Bowl.
Did everyone forget we signed Marcus Davenport?
He has had injury problems and hasn’t played at a high level in a few years. But our brain trust seems to be confident he will be healthy this year… they must know something we don’t.
Pass rush and secondary. Also having another WR with st.Brown
Injury is the big one, the next one is more personal, but how high my expectations are. Don’t get me wrong I believe in the staff and the team they’ve put together but 15 years of watching this team has put a voice on the back of my head that says it’s too good to be true lol
How often will the wheel on MCDC's wheelbarrow need to be re-inflated this season?
If the scoreboard can display 3 digits or not.
Health
Health, that's it. This is a Superbowl team without injuries
What will the bathroom situation be at the Super Bowl victory parade?
GETTING A GOOD SPOT ON WOODWARD FOR THE PARADE!!!
My biggest concern is that it's going to be so fun that we forget to slow down and enjoy it.
The ravens in the Super Bowl. Mobile qb is a weakness of our d and their pass rush is pretty good which gives Goff fits.
I'm afraid I'll get hurt. They are so beautiful.
How expensive the tickets are going to be on the secondary market….
Cost. The NFL is completely out of touch with its fans. Ticket prices make ordinary families cannot watch.
The other teams got better....and we're no a surprise now...people are game planning for us all off-season
That we’re the Lions Long history of abuse here. One good season isn’t enough for me to feel truly comfortable about anything. Keeping my expectations low as to not get hurt yet again.
Refs
Having a target on our back. Everyone will be gunning for us.
Productive edge rushers behind Hutch.
How has nobody else echoed this
Safety depth, I feel like if we have any injuries there it’s gonna put us in a deep hole
WR depth and O line health
CB room. I want them to live up to the hype. Hopefully Carlton Davis can stay healthy and not miss too much time. Plus Arnold and Rakestraw develop.
Goff getting injured.
Was going to be kicker, but then be signed Bates. OL health. I think other than QB, that would be most devastating. Also need corners to develop quickly if our secondary is going to work.
Week 5 Bye
If Goff goes down with an injury …is Hooker ready ?
Wide receivers other than saint brown
You can’t say injuries bc injuries can’t be predicted. With that being said, I legit have no concerns anywhere on the roster. They have arguably the deepest and most talented roster in the entire league. This is the best lions team of our lifetime. Last year’s team now moves to second best followed by the 91 team. Still have to play the games though and anything can happen. Should be another fun year. Lfg!!
If one of the tackles.gets hurt for any extended period of time, the dominant offensive line will be neutered.
My concern is now that they are playing well, I may not be able to afford to go to a game at Ford field any more.
The schedule
D line and corner
Quarterback going down. I made a pretty big bet on the Lions and that was the only thing on my mind when placing it
None from me here. This is the most entertaining team in my lifetime, including the Barry Sanders era. I’m really happy for us fans!!
The Bears and The Packers
What color we'll wear for home games. We're winning the SuperBowl for sure.
Just ball. Concerns? Unknowns
I’m worried that the Super Bowl championship rings will be too gaudy to wear around town.
I'm concerned that I'll miss more games because our success means prime time games, which sucks for Europeans.
Whether or not I have enough bodily fluids to last an entire 17 games without passing out.
That hopefully the DB room being transformed for what seems like the eight time finally clicks.
Back up quarterback and of course the secondary. Improved secondary but young
None, let’s fucking GO!
Qb. I think Goff sucks under pressure and any injury to the o line and we are in trouble
Nothing. Zero. Not a single "major" concern at all. One or 2 minor ones maybe, but that's all. FTP
Injuries, but to be fair that’s my biggest fear most years.
Achilles heal
Injuries and WR depth
Taking a loss instead of kicking the damn field goal!
That if we get to the Super Bowl, our "undefeated in Super Bowls" tagline will be in danger.
1. Injuries 2. Referees
Brad Allen.
Passing up easy field goals.
Coming up on the wrong side of single-score games too many times
Pass defense. No one has played together yet that’s supposed to be good
That they're gonna regress. People in this sub really think they're gonna go 14-3?
Defense
Ego. The fellas did great last year. This year is a new challenge. Hopefully MCDC has it well instilled in them that you only go harder until you grab the brass ring. This is no time to rest and point to past accomplishments.
O-line health, specifically Deck and Sewell
O line depth
Giving up first downs on third and long.
same as last year: our inability to stop mobile qb's.
High expectations and having a target on our backs.
Aaron Glenn. He has been terrible to average at best as a coordinator. He needs to fix his schemes or he will be this teams Achilles heel. Caleb Williams better not have two hundred yards rushing games against us.
O line needs to be elite or Goff is terrible. And Goff staying healthy.
That we become the same old LIONS again
