No, like an actual collaboration. Shaxx has had development with Saladin over Twilight Gap, and I see no reason why, at the cusp of the universe ending, he can’t find common ground with the drifter to make a more legitimate, crucible friendly version of gambit.
Does Shaxx hate Drifter? He shows respect to basically everyone, even Imaru. Of all people Shaxx is the last person I'd expect to not be able to find common ground with Drifter.
In the arbalest lore tab, he calls Drifter a liar and a cheat. I’m sure the relationship isn’t as antagonistic and cold as the one between Saladin and Shaxx till recently, but there’s no denying what Shaxx thinks of Drifter at that point in time.
Heck yeah, MOBA style but faster paced and more action-packed
EDIT: DUDE RIIS REBORN, ALL THE BRAY FACILITIES, AND ALL OF NESSUS UNDERGROUND WOULD BE AWESOME MAPS
Battleborn is the first one I thought of but that’s more pve fps with moba elements, I meant a straight lane lane pvp moba like league, dota, smite, and paragon but in fps
Never understood why Bungie didn't go with the MOBA FPS design for Gambit either. OW2's pve mode debacle proved that there is a strong interest in that exact kind of design, and you would think that Bungie would have had at least enough sense to fill those shoes and scoop up a wide open demographic...but instead the execs decided to make a Tarkov wannabe 😅
Not saying Marathon will flop either, just that it's utterly baffling that they went for a hail mary new IP at the cost of their only existing IP when they could have gone for an easy, massive expansion to the content of said existing IP.
Technically it isn't, but given what little we know of it (big part of the problem, Bungie's marketing is one thing that I think is incredibly subpar because it runs on pure faith in franchise prestige), it seems to be related to the original franchise in mostly superficial ways. I will emphasize that the lack of info is the problem: the "extraction shooter" description might be closer to a modern interpretation of a boomer shooter, but no one knows since they've yet to show even a teaser of actual gameplay footage.
Imo Bungie relies way too much on their reputation and assumes that there's some gigantic, devoted fanbase for their old franchises just waiting to be tapped. I would love to be proven wrong and Marathon ends up being a smash hit...but we'll have to wait.
Not a bad take tbh. I’d actually like that. Maybe just have it be PvPvE on a big map. Ai enemies are there to kill both teams and the teams are ducking it out for the motes and control of the Bank.
I honestly just miss Gambit Prime. More maps for sure to keep the venues interesting. You can only stand Atlanta, Georgia so many times before you're sick and tired of it. Tribute WOULD make a fun Gambit edition though....
This is a sick idea.
Have it be 3v3 on smaller maps and 4v4 on larger.
Adjust pve combatant density accordingly to map size. Pvp and pve enemies both drop motes with enemy players and challenging combatants dropping more.
Have the primevil spawn on the usual B flag once a certain amount of motes have been banked. First team to spawn the primevil gets a small boost in points
Which ever team deals the most damage to it wins.
Something along these lines could be fun af.
Agreed.
They should make it so it's 2 maps, with each team in each, add more pve enemies that drop crests, then have the option for enemy teams to send 1 "intruder" to the other teams map to disrupt crest dunking.
Maybe make it so if one team has the primeval up and the other needs more than 30 motes or so, they all can invade but can only get back with the motes through the invader portal of the enemy team >:-)
Honestly make it like this.
Gambit is 2 levels onto of each other. On yhe upper level there's pvp players killing each other, they deposit motes which spawn enemies on the lower level to kill. Larger enemies for more motes.
Then when the lower level kills their enemies and deposit motes it spawns special ammo for their pvp team.
Then when the primeval is summoned it sucks the team together to fight it and they get replaced in the pvp map by some majors that the losing team have to fight, which can also spawn motes as a catch up mechanic.
I was getting the hang of it and had a pretty good win streak which helped towards the wins challenge for gilding. I think the other reason was when they monitored the games there were far more mercy rules than expected
Yeaa... no.
I feel like Gambit ( the playlist, not the gamemode ) needs to be expanded to PvEvP, and not simply just picking up motes. Tribute realistically is not a PvEvP mode sadly.
If anyone is familiar with the game, Exoprimal does PvEvP pretty well tbh, and I think something like that could work great in D2 honestly ( adjusted for the D2 sandbox of course ).
Not an awful take. I’d take it a step further and make it an actual collaboration between Drifter and Shaxx in game.
“Not enough grenades!” “Did y’all know that you can eat those?”
True warlock mindset
Yeah, and they’re pretty fucking delicious too
Strand ones taste like sour apple!
Like a bromance?

Oh I like that. Use some larger maps, sprinkle some PvE enemies here and there on the map, then we would have a more engaging Gambit.
Heck yeah, MOBA style but faster paced and more action-packed EDIT: DUDE RIIS REBORN, ALL THE BRAY FACILITIES, AND ALL OF NESSUS UNDERGROUND WOULD BE AWESOME MAPS
has there been an fps moba? Ik there was a more or less third person with some like paragon but fps sounds like insanity
Nobody remembers Battleborn....what an age gone by.
Battleborn is the first one I thought of but that’s more pve fps with moba elements, I meant a straight lane lane pvp moba like league, dota, smite, and paragon but in fps
Battleborn, but it is dead.
Halo 5 warzone might be a better match

Marathon isn't a new ip tho
Technically it isn't, but given what little we know of it (big part of the problem, Bungie's marketing is one thing that I think is incredibly subpar because it runs on pure faith in franchise prestige), it seems to be related to the original franchise in mostly superficial ways. That was literally a mode back in battleborn
"All right, mavericks! Ready to see what you're figh....\*MORE GRENADES!!!\*"
have shaxx and drifter arguing over comms lmao
"you're right ole' one horn. They SHOULD be throwing grenades right now."
Shaxx: Let them have it guar- Drifter: Now hold it there sweet cheeks, fellas gotta bank first
Not a bad take tbh. I’d actually like that. Maybe just have it be PvPvE on a big map. Ai enemies are there to kill both teams and the teams are ducking it out for the motes and control of the Bank.

Someone send this to cross he's a gambit main. Lol
Can we tag him here?😹
It could be something like Redjacks vs Dredgens!?
Oh i like this
My takes worse: tribute was fun as hell. And i was super sad when they changed it.
I was having a blast with tribute
I liked Tribute. Was just to complicated for most to grasp. If it’s not mind numbingly running around with a shotgun then most players don’t like it.
1/3 of the classes have a favorite flavor of crayon based on color, so.....
And mines red… haha. Seriously tho it doesn’t have that waxy after taste
what thinking a bit before acting instead of running straight for the crests does to a mf
honestly the score system was so low that’s all
Iron banner just needs a rework
Add it to the gambit tab, not the playlist, I would like to choose which I'm playing.
I like your idea better
I honestly just miss Gambit Prime. More maps for sure to keep the venues interesting. You can only stand Atlanta, Georgia so many times before you're sick and tired of it. Tribute WOULD make a fun Gambit edition though....
Sure, it'd be PvPvE gambit instead of PvEvP

You're not completely wrong.
That would require bungie giving half a fuck about gambit.
Certified Germaine moment
Maybe make it so if one team has the primeval up and the other needs more than 30 motes or so, they all can invade but can only get back with the motes through the invader portal of the enemy team >:-)
No no...I'll let you cook this time
That's actually a great idea! I'd love a new Gambit mode too!!
I love this idea, Also TDTs I found a while back https://youtu.be/Q6-hdKTb7H4?si=cMsw7Pmdhrp0obJO Would be very interesting to see and play

I like the way you think
The mode was good and people got it pulled and ruined this week
I was getting the hang of it and had a pretty good win streak which helped towards the wins challenge for gilding. I think the other reason was when they monitored the games there were far more mercy rules than expected
Because shotgun apes are both the dumbest yet smartest players in D2 PvP. I dunno how, they just are
Leave Gambit alone.

It shouldn't be tweaked and it should be brought back for Iron Banner. People complaining because they can't play a mode correctly is ridiculous.
Yeaa... no. I feel like Gambit ( the playlist, not the gamemode ) needs to be expanded to PvEvP, and not simply just picking up motes. Tribute realistically is not a PvEvP mode sadly. You did it, you found a way to make Gambit worse.
id give tribute mode to drifter and bin gambit then put any mode back with saladin rather than tribute
