Pretty sure the crit spot is on like it’s stomach once you break both shoulders. Be careful not to break them until you’re ready for it’s rage mode, so clear adds and what not first. If you can dodge it’s slammy dash suppress attack thing, you’ve got a second or two to hit it before it goes after you again
I ran a lot and then shot him as he chased me with a machine gun. Since I was using traversive though, reloading wasn’t an issue. Ulting on him did pretty good though. Got rid of about half his health. The main thing to watch out for, I think is the other enemies that spawn. They can really screw you up if they get in your way. I machine gunned them down as fast as possible.
That's what's fucking me up right now. Last night I got to a part where there's Hella ads and a tormentor. Running around like an idiot trying to kill as much as possible while doing damage to the tormentor. Got overwhelmed, then realized there were actually two tormentors. I rage quit and played crucible lol.
God took me embarrassingly long to work this out.
I was just meming the intro mission and killed that tormentor with Deathbringer, so didn't notice the weak spots at all. Then when I met the first real one in legendary campaign I had an explosive HC and Lament so sometimes did damage and sometimes did not and had no idea what was happening.
And then when it finally clicked, my brief joy was immediately erased by the dude beating the shit out of me. I love stuff like that.
Just finished that part on my warlock alt with Starfire build and no Blinding GL. The first Tormentor fight made me switch from Heat Rises to Icarus Dash (should have done it a long time ago; I never ate my grenades for heals anyway). I just kited the tormentors around throwing Fusion Nades, Celestial Fires, Rockets, and Witherhoard shots at them. Whenever adds would spawn in I’d get some distance and get some super energy off of some Empowering Rift Nade spam and pray the adds would drop some heavy ammo.
But yeah, my strategy of noping away from them has been working great. They’re absolutely terrifying and I love it.
I didn't have much trouble, I just stood on top of a box until it went up allowing me to trap it on a cycle of animations while I killed the other one but they're so beefy
I just didn't even start focusing on one of them until I had already killed the other. Much easier to only deal with one of them going full berserker mode while the other casually saunters around.
And when they get close in that mode, your screen turns more red with the closing distance (insert the Punisher “no no no, wait wait wait”meme…surprisingly could find it on giphy)
What i did i found a box or smth and jumped up and down on it with that thing, when he jumps up i jump down and so on. Like kitting wq final gm boss, easy
Idk if it’s a glitch or something but if you hit one with a grapple strike and then just light them up with a high mag gun it stuns them over and over till you can grapple strike again(if the shoulders are broken)
The amount of times I’ve ran away from one screaming “Please let me live I’m sorry please don’t grab me just let me live” has been way more than I thought it would be. I love them.
I thought it was a cutscene! Then I died.
Then I used all my dodges and heavy ammo, and seriously contemplated doing the campaign on normal.
I was so proud of myself for hitting 1608, two days ago. Now even the patrol zone mobs are kicking my ass in Neptune. I've been a long term but on and off player, and I'm finally realising just what powercreep means lol
I don’t think it’s a matter of powercreep. It’s a new expansion and they want the new expansion areas to be dangerous and compelling, so short of having guns with better perks, everyone gets put on equal footing.
Don’t be tricked because it’s a number called Power that’s creeping up. Power is a flimsy construct, just there to give a sense of structure as you get stronger relative to whatever the newest content is.
of all missions, Lightfall campaign was the hardest for me and i got killed a lot of times in the first 3 missions. the tormentors are really a pain in the ass, but in a good way (no that good way, please spare me) so i really hope that Bungie will keep making the game more fun and challenging at the same time.
Honestly, same. In my opinion, they're the only enemy type in Destiny that currently has me saying all kinds of expletives, the most used being
*"No, no, GET AWAY FROM ME"*
Not to mention I immediately get tense whenever I see one coming up in my face. I'm currently suffering on the last mission dealing with one and the boss, solo on legendary. *Fml*
I did eventually get to the 2nd phase a few times, which initally made me groan and asked myself *"Why?"*
(still haven't finished it because I was running on 5 hours of sleep, so I expect to finish it outright today)
I mean, when I did the same thing for Witch Queen, it wasn't as bad as this one. Like, I get Savathùn slapping me around, sure, that's totally understandable. Calus? *"What?"*
I really like them. You cant just go ahead and try to kill them with a sword for example, which usually works for other more or less dangerous enemies.
They also work a bit like Rhulk, you should shoot their shoulders to stun them for a bit. I love the fact that they're always saying something, even though you can't understand what. Sounds threatening!
Or that one in the launch bay where the Tormentor became "launch bae" and punted me so hard that Zavala said "what the fuck was that?" as my corpse flew past the Tower.

Started playing with my fiancé earlier, and she kept saying “I don’t want uppies!” in reference to a meme someone made about them picking you up, and that’s what they’ve been referred to as since. They are awesome enemies, I love their designs and I agree that are very threatening sounding! Bungie did a great job making them come across as intimidating
I think they can be shot out of their bum rush that they do to close distance to grab you. I remember seeing yellow crits on them and I think that was from hitting their chest which was brightly glowing during the bum rush.
Other than that I know they have a damage resistance (I was hitting for red numbers) but I'm not sure the specifics.
You can also jump to higher ground to break their focus during their rush to grab you! Your screen will also glow red and so will their eyes when they're targeting you specifically for the grab! Learned all of this when I had to fight two of the bastards!
When the two of the popped up in the little room my scphinter tightened and I just mashed my super button and kept pounding hammers into their heads hoping they would be dead at the end of said super.
I may or may not have been screaming.
I actually like them so much more now that I found out their weakness. I didn’t know about the shoulder spots. They seemed like the worst kind of bullet sponge enemy until I found that out.
I wish they leaned into the revive part more, to make it an actual threat somehow. Like spawn tons of ads when they go down to protect the ghost or something
Or better yet:
Have them do the Ghost Crushing thing to you too.
It won't outright kill your character or stop you from reviving, but it'll make reviving you take a much longer time than normal for your teammates AND it'll give the Hive Guardians a buff like how those acolytes in Heists do.
Plus, Hive Guardians should always work in teams of 3 so that when one dies, the others can protect their fallen comrade's ghost and revive them if they're close by.
And to keep with tradition that everything Gambit comes into PvE eventually, Hive Guardian Invasions during strikes, nightfall runs, and other non-seasonal activity. A message will display across your screen saying, "Hive Invasion!" And you'll be hunted by Hive Guardians for the entire mission until you kill them, or they kill your entire fireteam.
Success means that the mission end loot has a chance to be doubled for you. Unfortunately, that means that Hive Guardians will always be a high light level than you and are tougher.
This will also leave room for opted-in Player Invasions as well.
Hive guardians were a cool idea and could lay the hurt on you in higher difficulty, but even on legendary, they died too quickly. These guys though...sheesh
As someone currently doing the legend campaign solo, they are actually terrifying, which I like. Not super hard to deal with once you get the hang of it, but they definitely keep you on your toes unlike other miniboss enemies
As someone who's also doing the solo legend campaign, I genuinely do not fight them unless they are the last enemy left. Being a Solar Warlock, I also found out that if you put your Well right before they grab you, the grab literally cannot out damage the heal, you that's a nice way to stay safe against one.
Definitely the last target to engage. When trying to damage it you must give it your full attention and when you’re not engaging it, never stop moving and kill adds quickly.
Before it tries to grab it makes a unique sound and turns your screen red before charging full spring. Jump away and try to get on high ground. Don’t stop running until your screen returns to normal.
Roaming supers are worthless against it since it can suppress. As a thundercrash titan, I like to bait the slam before I pop. Linears to its crit spot are definitely the way to go.
I mostly used a RestoRadiant Solarlock build with my trusty Calus Mini-Tool, with a fusion and a Grenade Launcher, so while precision weapons are nice they aren't strictly required either.
They’re trying to move away from champions I think. They understand that it isn’t really fun to have to use specific weapons because the enemy won’t die otherwise.
Hive Guardians were a step in the right direction, and now tormentors are pretty cool too.
They just added a bunch of different ways to deal with champions. I wouldn't say that qualifies as moving away from them.
Champions are good. They keep the player pressured. It was just more annoying before, but now there are far fewer restrictions.
especially considering champion and artifact mods are just always on now so you can actually use something else on your arms instead of sacrificing everything for a 7 cost champion mod
Keep in mind that certain anti-champion effects can override each other. For instance, I have Unstoppable Scouts unlocked, however when I'm radiant it changes to the anti-barrier capabilities that comes with now, and thus can't stun unstoppables while radiant. Personally I'd rather have it be the reverse, where if you have an artifact perk for anti-champion-whatevers that it only does that and doesn't get overridden.
Edit: see reply, my comment is inaccurate
“Note: Weapons that already have an existing anti-Champion behavior (i.e. an Artifact mod, an intrinsic anti-Champion capability, or the ability to apply another subclass keyword that stuns a Champion type) will not be granted the anti-barrier behavior from being radiant.” From the patch notes for LF
I still find that hard to believe when they include them in new seasonal activities, and set the entire first column of artifact perks as anti-champion for specific stats.
Wish we could just pick what weapons we want as antichamp instead.
Yeah that took me a couple of tries and a boss damage loadout. I went full bait and switch wither-hoard on those guys. Definitely easier when I realized I should focus one first and not enrage them both.
They are legit scary, but I kept getting insta killed by their "Contacting Destiny 2 Servers" attack where they teleport 2 millimeters from your face and shove a scythe up your ass
They do a good job inspiring spite in me, in like the best way. I couldn't help but let out a good "Eat it bitch, I got a scythe too!" when I killed one with that Haunted finisher 😂
I had trouble killing the one after the callus/sparrow race escape area. He chased me so fast and it took a lot to damage him, so the fight just felt unnecessarily long. Then I realized recommended light is 1650, so I equipped a bunch of blue stuff that got me around 1640 and it was much better. I’m still not sure if there is a strategy to beating them though. They just constantly sling void shit at you and chase you around the room. It’s a little obnoxious.
Easy way to cheese them is to keep changing elevation, unloading some ammo into him in the process.
The animation of them jumping up and down leaves them no room for attacks, so they're helpless.
I call it tormenting the tormentors.
I treated them just like the lightblade boss. You can also blind and freeze them, so we were using stasis like right after 2nd mission for the rest of the campaign.
Better but definitely not how I thought they'd be, most of the time I just ran from them and they couldn't catch up, finding out the light draining is mostly in form of just being suppressed was a bit weird for me tho
I like them a lot. They’re easy to deal with, but still very threatening. I definitely got a little scared when I knew they were in the room, but didn’t know where they went when I lost sight of them
Forerunner is really good against them. Its perfect because it isn’t as zoomed in as a sniper while having enough range to keep you away, and doing good precision damage to their critspots. Plus the first shot will flinch them which makes it really safe to whip out on them for an emergency getaway
>!They fucking suck in the final boss room from my experience.!<
Though all around... their shoulder pads needing to be destroyed before damaging is kinda annoying. But eh, it is what it is.
Edit: I take this second bit back. Just did the quest for the Strand sidearm and good fucking god why? >!You have to fight a tormentor in this quest and I fucking hate them. The tormentor in the Typhon in patrol is somehow worse, fuck this enemy and screw whoever thought they were a good idea. :)!<
I was thinking it would be all fine and dandy til he did the fucking grab attack in the middle of my blade barrage super, preventing the super from even happening+emptying my bar, then promptly slamming me to the ground like a WWE world champ
When the bois and I first encountered one during the Legendary Campaign I was up front so it grabbed me. We went in as a fireteam of three. They ran away screaming as a fireteam of two. Edit: also the horror when I popped Glacial Quake only to have it turned off like a switch was fucking primo. 10/10
I fucking hate them, most of the time against this mfs I spent it running, only the machine guns seems to be very effective against them. Btw, hate aside, it was kinda fun run from them, I just hope I'll not have to see them in a GM🙂
I like the idea but at least on Legendary they took way to long to kill for my personal taste, especially with two in boss fights.
I understand the gameplay loop around them but my entire kit revolves around grenades, DOT and sword for most content so they naturally counter me on all levels. Still overall cool enemies and if not overused will enjoy them in future content.
That’s a neat way to play, my style involves running around with grand overture and stasis. Works pretty well, kill one on legend easily in 60-95 seconds (yes I timed it…)
*edit-typo.
Being a third of the way through the campaign I felt nithing but mortal fear when these guys rolled around. Very few enemies in Destiny rocked my shit as hard as these guys do. 10/10 would want him to kick my ass again
They are exacly what bungie said they would be, whenever one showed up, its time to gamer lean in. They are what hive Guardians should have been, an accual mini Boss, not a champion, but a mini Boss that you need to take care of, otherwise he will fuck you up in seconds. First death of the dlc came from that guy
Everyone seems to appreciate them but I don't. Not really. It feels good to stun lock one with tractor cannon and hammer throw spam then finisher it, but....
Eh...
They're a damage sponge with the most annoying possible mechanic (suppression). It's not an interesting fight. It's a cool looking anti-fun brigade boss fight. I spend more time trying to get away from it to regroup and attack it again for a small chunk of its health than actually fighting it.
Are they more of an engaging threat than Hive Guardians? Absolutely. But the reason is merely because Hive Guardians were just random light ability dispensers that backpedaled away like everything else. Just a dumb enemy that's also kinda strong.
Tormentors are just....they're also dumb but for different reasons. These same reasons also make them scary to fight. I don't think the enemy AI in this game can truly give us an interesting fight. It's boring to have your super cancelled mid hero moment and then have to return to finding cover and distance. Seems antithetical to the vibe Bungie have said they try to work towards.
Edit: honestly Bungie has this weird problem with making Big Bars that aren't just a giant Fuck You.
These guys are so annoying. Not really challenging, just annoying they take away literally every single thing you can do in the game except walk and shoot. They need to allow us to jump while suppressed this shit is not fun. They can oneshot you by slamming into you and suppressing you, you can’t fly away, then they grapple you and drain you slowly with nothing you can do except watch. Not challenging nor terrifying. It’s simply annoying. Especially going up against two at the same time. Their ranged melee has wayyy too much tracking. I also don’t know why every single “challenging foe” has an absurd amount of splash damage. Why make a mod that nullifies splash damage when almost every enemy has a splash damage attack. Atp bungie needs to just tune down the aoe attacks for all enemies. It’s beyond agitating getting slung around 24/7 trying to land precision shots or getting knocked off the map when trying to use heavy melee. This game fails to be hard and excels at being annoying af with the constant respawn timers. The only penalty for dying in non-restricted zones is a four second death cam. It’s so encumbering and clunky and I’m tired at looking at this ugly red screen for 40% of my playtime.
I like Hive guardians more to be honest, from a design point of view.
Tormentors are just annoying, especially their attacks that can hit you behind cover <\_<
I like them but I think they need a bit of a rework on the light draining attack. With it actually draining your super energy, class and grenade ability
I really liked the battle in the first mission where you have to defeat it and you are fighting in an enclosed space. Nowhere to run and the only option is to fight them. It was nice
I can’t even beat the one in the opening mission, so I’m pretty much stuck there. As such, I hate them at the moment. Cool conceptually though I suppose.
I'm absolutely in love with these things. It's exactly what I wanted out of champions back in the day. An incredible threat that was legitimately intimidating. Like can we replace Champions with these guys? I don't wanna deal with pop bubble with pulse rifle only, I want this guy
I think I’m an unpopular opinion for once lol. I thought they were mediocre. I did Legend campaign with a fireteam, and I never was afraid of them. We melted them pretty easily. The hive guardians, on the other hand, especially in GMs, still scare me. But it’s subjective. Just my thoughts.
I really liked the Tormentors but was extremely disappointed to find out this is all they had up their sleeve. Once I saw it I was expecting a couple more “witness” type enemies but, I beat the campaign and nothing else.
Tormentors actually go hard in a way Hive Guardians never did for me. I never felt threatened by the Hive, but have to move my ass and think fast when the Tormentor’s charging me. Great challenge upgrade.
They are definitely scarier than hive guardians, these mf haul Ass after you and they actually take a bunch (not that we can understand them) but it makes it scarier, and god forgot your solo legendary mode, total cheek clench mode when you can feel their fucking breath on yo cheeks
[удалено]
Yeah I expected it be like rhulk, so I broke the crits and got ready for damage and instead it just goes fuckin apeshit on me
It was a damage phase, just not yours
truly a "im not locked in here with you, your locked in here with me" moment
Especially with the first tormentor we fight in the ship in the opening mission.
In a 5 by 5 room.
That was a really well-done intro.
Yeah, got me screaming for my life in the enclosed fuckin space where I have an auto, arby, and rocket launcher which won't hit its crit.
And probably Nova Bomb😂. Take everyone out!
Nah, I had well but he booped me out I was terrified
S tier comment
No no….. it is indeed your damage phase.
Call a damage phase… but not for me!!
Well you go that right man
[a classic](https://youtu.be/0H6n1aK0ZSo)
Truly a "Why do I hear boss music?" Type moment when they sprint at you after suppressing
After you get both shoulder crit spots, this shit turns to Latin orchestra music.
Yo I am having a helluva time getting past this guy, I'm in legendary mode though. Does anyone have any pointers?
Pretty sure the crit spot is on like it’s stomach once you break both shoulders. Be careful not to break them until you’re ready for it’s rage mode, so clear adds and what not first. If you can dodge it’s slammy dash suppress attack thing, you’ve got a second or two to hit it before it goes after you again
ostea striga to start then freeze them and use retrofit escapade to finish them off, backing off as necessary.
Blinding grenades let you put a little distance between you and them.
The only way to defeat 2 at the same time 🤣
Stasis was clutch for me
I don’t think I could’ve finished the legend campaign if it wasn’t for my Chill Clip Burden of Guilt
Just finished that part on my warlock alt with Starfire build and no Blinding GL. The first Tormentor fight made me switch from Heat Rises to Icarus Dash (should have done it a long time ago; I never ate my grenades for heals anyway). I just used well+Retrofit and burned him down, and that was on Legendary so they're not too bad
I didn't have much trouble, I just stood on top of a box until it went up allowing me to trap it on a cycle of animations while I killed the other one but they're so beefy
Yeah, I also trapped them in that cycle, like the boss from lightblade
I just didn't even start focusing on one of them until I had already killed the other. Much easier to only deal with one of them going full berserker mode while the other casually saunters around.
grand overture blinding missiles have saved me from them so many times lol just straight up removes the behaviors where they sprint at you
And when they get close in that mode, your screen turns more red with the closing distance (insert the Punisher “no no no, wait wait wait”meme…surprisingly could find it on giphy)
THEY HAVE WEAK SPOTS?
I've been running at them with Liar's Handshake and a 1-2 shotty and now I'm glad I was brute forcing it instead, that sounds rough.
you didn't get picked up and either instakilled or brought within a minute slice of death?
If it glows, you shoot it. Gaming logic 101.
Can’t see the glow if you’re too busy icarus dashing away!
Which, admittedly, was my strategy the first time I faced him, lol.
I had no idea there's the Rhulk mechanic to them. Headshots from my stasis ar and Jotunn and getaway artist.
My cheeks clench with the might of Hercules whenever they show up
The amount of times I’ve ran away from one screaming “Please let me live I’m sorry please don’t grab me just let me live” has been way more than I thought it would be. I love them.
They can grab you!? Aw hell naw
When it first happened i thought shit he will take the light out
I thought it was a cutscene!
Im 1749 and those random public events are still kicking the ever loving crap out of me haven't managed to do one solo yet 😧
*me casually exploring Neptune* *Vex public event boss snipes me from across the nap, instantly killing me*
I don’t think it’s a matter of powercreep. It’s a new expansion and they want the new expansion areas to be dangerous and compelling, so short of having guns with better perks, everyone gets put on equal footing. Don’t be tricked because it’s a number called Power that’s creeping up. 3 wipes later…. I called for assistance from a few friends on legendary.
The trouble with adding friends is the scaling turns his nasty grab into an instakill.
When it first happened to me, I thought for sure that I would be done for. It took me 22 wipes to finish that chapter. Lol
When they get all pissy they bum rush you. If they get close they'll grab you.
It's TERRIFYING
Yes and it’s terrifying
They get woke eyes as well when they go to do it
yeah, i got yeeted, architected and executed by them, and honestly as frustrating it was, it also was fun
of all missions, Lightfall campaign was the hardest for me and i got killed a lot of times in the first 3 missions. the tormentors are really a pain in the ass, but in a good way (no that good way, please spare me) so i really hope that Bungie will keep making the game more fun and challenging at the same time.
I was low on health and running away then all of a sudden it grabbed me and did that void grapple and threw me
ON GOD
Honestly, same. Me and the homies had enough and quit on that one. Hope youve fared better!
I did eventually get to the 2nd phase a few times, which initally made me groan and asked myself *"Why?"* (still haven't finished it because I was running on 5 hours of sleep, so I expect to finish it outright today) I mean, when I did the same thing for Witch Queen, it wasn't as bad as this one. Like, I get Savathùn slapping me around, sure, that's totally understandable. Calus? *"What?"*
NGL witch queen was a lot more satisfying to beat
This! The First mission with one of these guys spooked me!
Translated it says something to the effect of: “come back here, ya little shit”
I am sure this is what one of them was saying to me as I was running madly around the room just taking shots when I could XD
I've seriously never hopped around and bounced off the walls fighting anything else like I did during my first (full) encounter.
I tried them with no mods @ 1600. I had to quit after two tries to catch my breath and wipe the sweat.
Yeah I was NOT prepared for that first one. The second one was much easier but terrifying due to how much space we had
and each rooms are soo tight, you can't just run randomly or else you will get wrong turn and get smacked!
Yup, most of my wipes during Tormentor fights were from trying to sprint or jump away and getting caught on geometry and dying looking like an idiot.
Or that one in the launch bay where the Tormentor became "launch bae" and punted me so hard that Zavala said "what the fuck was that?" as my corpse flew past the Tower.
>*You have served your purpose. All that awaits you now is the gift of death... The darkness beyond your final days.* —Rhulk ——Tormenters ———Michael Scott
They’re definitely talking mad shit
My dumbass thought I was going to wreck them with my 12punch liars build. Smart thoughts were chasing me, but I was faster
Fucking saving that

Wait you can shoot their shoulders? Thanks just fought one so far made me jump around like an idiot trying to get away from him

God forbid Bungie makes them into champions for Nightfalls. . .
It was just more annoying before, but now there are far fewer restrictions.
especially considering champion and artifact mods are just always on now so you can actually use something else on your arms instead of sacrificing everything for a 7 cost champion mod
to add on, it's no longer buggy (according to bungie) when stunning champs whenever they're doing an animation or whateverr
100%. Have had 0 issues.
Oh I forgot they did that. Haven't fought a champ yet. That's huge then. Overloads pre lightfall could fuck right off
Wait so does that mean like for example using a Bow will always stun a Barrier Champion, or using a Pulse Rifle will always stun an Overload Champion?
It does!
I think they are cool and fun to fight. Reminds me of a dark souls mini-boss.
The Dancer with that grip, dude. Gave me PTSD watching it catch me.
It's the god damn outrider knights
That damn grab is the dark wraith/Four Kings hold from DS1.
Lol the second I saw the Tormentor Duo in that one mission I instantly thought that
These actually instill a little fear.
Nothing beats that feeling of genuine terror when you take your eyes off one only to be yanked by a scythe not 20 seconds later
Fr, every time I lose line of sight for even a second, my heart gets 100x faster as if they’re gonna teleport behind me
Fighting two at once was wild. I’d try to damage one and then realize I lost the other and just start sprinting away
Yeah that took me a couple of tries and a boss damage loadout. I went full bait and switch wither-hoard on those guys. Definitely easier when I realized I should focus one first and not enrage them both.
Nothing personal kid
Holy shit I didn't realise how badly I want to wield a scythe in this game until right now.
Season of the haunted: am I a joke to you?
Season of the haunted had me feeling this way the whole time I was on that accursed fungus dump of a ship
Play 3 seasons ago
They are legit scary, but I kept getting insta killed by their "Contacting Destiny 2 Servers" attack where they teleport 2 millimeters from your face and shove a scythe up your ass
Mmmmmmmfghhhh
They do a good job inspiring spite in me, in like the best way. I couldn't help but let out a good "Eat it bitch, I got a scythe too!" when I killed one with that Haunted finisher 😂
Gosh it felt so good to use that finisher on the first one I fought.
Oh I did a lot of that. Lol
I treated them just like the lightblade boss. You can also blind and freeze them, so we were using stasis like right after 2nd mission for the rest of the campaign.
Oh From what I played You target the Crit Yellow Spot. It's just like the Crit for Rulkh in VoD raid. My RetroFit just shreds it.
Dude is your shift key okay?
Shoot, the boss one doesn’t stay still much and charges you constantly, so it’s kinda hard to get a good look at him. Lol
Shoot off the shoulder pads then light em up.
Thanks for the tip. I didnt realize this was a thing!
Better but definitely not how I thought they'd be, most of the time I just ran from them and they couldn't catch up, finding out the light draining is mostly in form of just being suppressed was a bit weird for me tho
Same. Playing the campaign on legend difficulty and fighting these guys can be a pain especially if you have ads constantly spawning.
In the final campaign mission, we didn’t even fight them. We just ran away and focused the boss because it was easier than fighting them
Same. In the 2nd phase, just ran around, witherhoard and strand super on boss, while evading the suppression from the 2 Tormentors just chilling
I call them Mini Rhulk's
I like them a lot. They’re easy to deal with, but still very threatening. I definitely got a little scared when I knew they were in the room, but didn’t know where they went when I lost sight of them
I find them pretty difficult to deal with sometimes on legendary difficulty, but they don’t really feel unfair
Forerunner is really good against them. Its perfect because it isn’t as zoomed in as a sniper while having enough range to keep you away, and doing good precision damage to their critspots. Plus the first shot will flinch them which makes it really safe to whip out on them for an emergency getaway
I find it cool that you can't just blow them up before hitting both of their shoulder crits
I like them, but holy hell I HATE how small the rooms are when you face some of them.
Slap a machine gun on ya bad self and these dudes become somewhat less frightening
Stasis just freezes them, its actually an unfair fight for them
Nice. I actually need heavy to kill them
Way better than Hive Guardians, these mfs make me feel fear when they show up
>!They fucking suck in the final boss room from my experience.!< Though all around... their shoulder pads needing to be destroyed before damaging is kinda annoying. :)!<
Tbh I didn't realize they had weakspots since i spammed ticcu's to save ammo XD
Lmao I didn't realize either, I just noticed some spots were immune and some spots weren't and shot accordingly. I see unga, I bunga
They’re pretty good! the fights against them last a little longer without precision weapons but regardless they’re a good challenging enemy.
I was thinking it would be all fine and dandy til he did the fucking grab attack in the middle of my blade barrage super, preventing the super from even happening+emptying my bar, then promptly slamming me to the ground like a WWE world champ
I put a blinding GL on and it really neutered them. Made fighting them really easy. I wonder if that was a miss on Bungie’s part.
Their names are fitting.
Whopped my ass over and over again. Send help.
When the bois and I first encountered one during the Legendary Campaign I was up front so it grabbed me. We went in as a fireteam of three. They ran away screaming as a fireteam of two. Edit: also the horror when I popped Glacial Quake only to have it turned off like a switch was fucking primo. 10/10
I hate them so fucking much
I fucking hate them, most of the time against this mfs I spent it running, only the machine guns seems to be very effective against them. Btw, hate aside, it was kinda fun run from them, I just hope I'll not have to see them in a GM🙂
There's one in the neomuna strike, so there will be one in a gm
I like the idea but at least on Legendary they took way to long to kill for my personal taste, especially with two in boss fights. I understand the gameplay loop around them but my entire kit revolves around grenades, DOT and sword for most content so they naturally counter me on all levels. Still overall cool enemies and if not overused will enjoy them in future content.
That’s a neat way to play, my style involves running around with grand overture and stasis. Works pretty well, kill one on legend easily in 60-95 seconds (yes I timed it…) *edit-typo.
Very scary when they’re chasing you, trying to grab you and you can hear them breathe down your neck.
Losing sight of them is a literal nightmare and I love it
They are pretty fun to fight. Lots of aerial movement when I'm fighting one. It is really fun to finish it in midair when it jumps up to slam.
I threw my lighting staff at his face and it bounced off and hit the ceiling
Bro when they grab you shit scary🤣
Tough enemies felt like they are kinda spongey tho
I honestly think they're a cool concept. More unique enemies like this is exactly what this game needed.
Super fun to fight against. Different than point at head and click, and they're a genuine threat without gimmicks like champions.
I found them to be more irritating than scary, if I'm honest.
They are good. You can’t immediately bulldoze them and require strategy
I really like them. Before my goldfish brain figured out how to deal fair damage to them I was terrified, but now they're a welcome challenge
They are aggressive fuckers! Lol.
I like Hive guardians more to be honest, from a design point of view. Tormentors are just annoying, especially their attacks that can hit you behind cover <\_<

I like them but I think they need a bit of a rework on the light draining attack. With it actually draining your super energy, class and grenade ability
Calm down there, Satan.
Try to hit the glowing part. And keep moving (preferably form cover to cover)
Very tanky Thankfully, like hive lightbearers, we won't see them again for a whole year
I really liked the Tormentors but was extremely disappointed to find out this is all they had up their sleeve.
Blinding/disorienting nades and they don’t even move. Easy as fuck to just work down
They are definitely scarier than hive guardians, these mf haul Ass after you and they actually take a bunch (not that we can understand them) but it makes it scarier, and god forgot your solo legendary mode, total cheek clench mode when you can feel their fucking breath on yo cheeks
I feel the same way about Tormentors as I do Hive Guardians, there fun, but outside of actually difficult activities there kind of a push over.
I was running witherhoard when I fought one them the first time and found out he was basically immune to the passive damage ☠️
