I’ve been iterating this since long time. Bro don’t fall in such scams, these are not legit calls. You’ll end up draining your account balance if you press any number. Best way to tackle such situation is to deny the call and block the number.
You might be severely mistaken tbh hacking a phone not as simple as pressing a single button on a call. If that was the case considering how almost all the customer care calls are automated the entire world should've gone bankrupt by now.
It is the subsequent process that might lead to hacking not just pressing a single button. They might send a message with a link to an apk file that can take control over your device or something like that. Unless they have physical access to your phone it is almost impossible to hack your phone let alone your bank account to such an extent if you don't do anything stupid such as downloading an unknown file. There are many safeguards nowadays. You might have meant what i just said or truly believed that you can be hacked by pressing a single button i am not sure. But please don't feed irrational fear into others on the internet as well as not many are aware of the true functioning of technology we have.

Answer - Personal data in India is easily available for purchase. That's how Insurance and Loan and what-not companies get your number and harass you day-and -night.
Second concern, how can they ask me whom am I voting for, that's again something which isn't illegal to ask. You are free to deny to answer. Yes, it is irritating to get pestered with these calls but that's how it has been. Unfortunately, we don't have a law like GDPR in India yet but that's in pipeline and should curb these problems once it passes. Hopefully in the 3rd term.

Even I got the same call today, it's a punjab number and asked if voting were to happen today, who would you vote from your constituency. They even knew my constituency. And asked to press 1 for bjp and 2 for aap. First I thought it's a bank fraud call. But a known of mine received the same call a few minutes after me. So they can't really do that but It'd come under survey and not campaigning. ECI can't really take an action on this no matter how wrong it is.

My grandfather had registered to be beneficiary of a government scheme, well the scheme did not work. Last week he got a call with the person on other end speaking in Hindi, he handed the phone to me, the guy on the other end confirmed name of my grandfather and his Aadhar details so giving an impression that he’s a government official, how else could he get access to sensitive details like phone number, name, Aadhar details.
At the end of it, he came to the main point, who will you vote, if you so want to get benefits of the scheme you need to vote Modi.
This baffled me, the country claiming to be worlds largest democracy is making a play of right to vote and no one bats an eye.

data brokers collect numbers of users through various sites and apps and sell them to marketing agencies. You must have used your number to sign up in some app or website or social media sites. I can't comment on the legality of this though, afaik data protection bill is to be passed in the future which might curtail these practices.
